3d view zoom in navigon 7 - Touch Diamond2, Pure Themes and Apps

I recently purchased Navigon 7, looks great in landscape with the 3d options and i love the lane assistant...
The only thing that annoys me is that in the 3d view, the map is very much zoomed out. On the screen of the diamond2 i can barely see the car-indicator. Also the next turn in a city environment is very hard to see.
I tried changing the settings in the autozoom.ini file, but that doesn't seem to have effect. Any idea's?

Is Touch Flo3D silly junk?

I disabled touch flo 3d right away because it seems like pointless eye candy. It seems like a sloppy rough integration that is a greater impedance than an assistant. Or is it just me

TF3D brings an essential level of style to Windows Mobile.
Surur
Style, schmile!
If I wanted style I'd have the Jesus phone that Apple makes - with one of the great cases from Vaja.
Instead, I want to look at my screen and gain information. On my day, on the stock market, on the weather and on the number of messages I am currently blowing off.
I too liked the weather bit. I also appreciated that TF3D goes a good job at memory management. Maybe when I get the time to learn how to customize it, I'll return to TF3D.
For now, though it is back to WinMob running Pocket Breeze in full screen mode with panels for pA and Pocket Weather.
I really like it. It gives me access to what I need to see when I glance at the screen (except tasks) and finger-touch access to programs.
It does screw up maybe once a day though requiring a soft reset. I applied the mods recommended and they made my TP freeze a lot so I changed them back to default.
It's actually a great enhancement to WM. almost everything that needs to be readily accessible is "touchable" no need to get irritated and use the tip of my nail to make sure I press it just right. Even the corner X close button works almost flawlessly because the screen touch area is now flush.
I know there has been some whining but this really is the best match, easy touch interface for the simple phone stuff, and the ability to use a keyboard and a stylus for things that just aren't feasable to use efficiently with a finger on a touch screen.
I'm a very happy camper with the Fuze... well except for that ****ing GPS crap.
I'd also like to add that I think most of us really created and adapted ways to be able to not use the touchscreen for a lot of things, and with good reason considering how much I hate using a stylus to navigate a UI. So I think a ton of us bring a certain baggage about using our fingers because it just really did always suck that bad. Which thanks to HTC it really doesn't now. Plus this screen may not be like the capacitive Iphone but man it's definitely a lot smoother, the word "silky" comes to mind with how it feels compared to my Tytn.
I'm not sure which one of the 2 voting options is meant to be good
Some people are just afraid of change. As there still millions of windows 98 users out there. LMAO, people need to move with the times
Touchflo3d is indeed the most beautiful interface I've ever seen. It remained for about one month on my mobile phone. After that I still installed pocket plus (the program who puts icons dirrectly on screen and used only one tab in which I put all my programs).
Reason 1: functionality. It takes several moves in TF3D to do simple tasks. For example if I am in the home screen I cannot start with a single click an app. I have to scroll (and be quite carrefull to go in the desired position) and after that start a program etc. Imagine if in Windows you would be forced to use start, programs every time if you wanted to use an program...it'll kill you. That's why we activate programs by clicking the icon on the screen after all...it's the fastest way. All in all, to be clear, if it would be a contest between a TF3D and a Pocket Plus-type of program, everytime the pocket plus device will "click" the application faster, while in TF3D depends on where TAB are you..
Reason 2: familiarity with Windows way of activating programs. As I said before it's more simple for me to simply activate the icon on screen and not bother with some paradigm of displaying emails or SMS (and related to that, do you want to be able that someone can take a look at your info by simply scrolling to that tab? I don't)
Reason 3 -not quite a reason, but a proof that this a better interface in my opinion: the simple-icon-on-display type of interface is actually validated by the Iphone which we all know as a beautiful device at least.
I like Touchflo3d, but I missed my usual today screen setup.
The easy answer is to use secondtoday, that way I get the best of both worlds, one tap on the screen switches between them.

James, you'll really find SPB Pocket Plus really nice. The thing with it is to remove all the tabs, as they really only generate useless clicks to navigate where your program is, and in final squeeze in one tab only the icons you need. I have 3x5 icons(with no text and large size enabled) and if I really think some of them I don't really need - like powerpoint and so on.To give an exameple this is what I consider usefull:Comunication Manager, Resco Explorer, HTC Album, Igo, Camera, Excel, Word, Coreplayer, sms, activesync, radio, opera, 1-calc (a very nice calculator) and notes. And supplimentary I have enabled the calendar and date plugins in today screen. This is a very nice setup - eficient - and if you set a non transparent background, very nice, kinda stylish look. Now, I have seen that you complained about precision of tapping - beware that in the margins and corners of display you'll have sometimes to get out the stylus. Give that pocket plus a try.It really made my days.

Definitely NOT at all. We must be on different spectrum of the universe. I like TF3D a great deal, make navigating the phone intuitive and seamless. It is just you.
Without TF3D, my Sprint TP would just be any other run of the mill Win Mobile big screen phone. My 39 cents.
TF3D is totally kickass! I love it for everything. Althought I do wish they had the map intergration that they have in TF2D. I also want the stocks tab and am waiting for the hd manilla to be perfected . Other than that, the original htc theme, with q-style font, my personalized background, tweaks from diamond config, and stock fuze rom, it runs pretty darm fast. Only did a soft reset once and that waas because I was attempting to run a qvga application and it crashed.

multitouch onscreen-keyboard

I have played around with some of the multitouch apps (browser, maps, image-gallery examples) and found them quite impressive. My question is, can the onscreen-keyboard be hacked to allow for multitoutch?
i know the keyboard is pretty useful but it would be better to have the multi touch features. The screen supports multutouch and it is a bit stupid that apple can copyright multitouch. alot of my friends mock the android cos it doesnt have mutitouch (stupid iphone snobs)
so, is it possible?
I'm sure it would be possible. There honestly should be multi-touch support for the virtual keyboard. Not to display 2 letters at a time obviously, but to just que the second letter to allow for faster typing rather than have it skip between 2 letters. The iphone does have multi-touch support on its VK for the same exact reason of faster typing.

so where are you seeing all of this stuff with the multi touch?
Yeah, I don't think multi-touch is available for Maps and Gallery. If I'm wrong could someone shoot me a link please?
Multi touch is only available in the browser. There were some demos you could install on your phone of the maps and gallery but they were just demos not the actual program.
As for the VK not sure why you would need it. Maybe type faster but other than that I see no need for it.
He's talking about the multitouch examples here: http://lukehutch.wordpress.com/2009/01/25/get-multi-touch-support-on-your-t-mobile-g1-today/
I don't really see what all the hype is about multi-touch. The only reason I can see it being useful is for games, and maybe if a shift key was inserted in the VK. Other than that, I feel it just becomes more difficult. Sure, it's cool technology, but isn't it easier to zoom using your thumb, holding the phone with one hand, than having to use two fingers or two separate hands? I've been running JF builds for months which multi-touch, and barely use it at all.
Multi touch allows for faster typing. Especially if you're typing in landscape mode with your thumbs going at it. I've noticed it would skip letters for me on various occasions because of it not registering hits that are too close to each other.
Why wouldn't you just open the keyboard...
I don't get it
I agree about typing. I also think the iphone's way of zooming in/out on the map is easier, too. It is all preference, but I really want the multi-touch map. Having it as an option would satisfy the masses.
To be honest, after the novelty of having multitouch on the browser wore off I found myself using the "+" and "-" buttons on the screen anyway!

Personally, I hate those freaking on-screen zoom in/out buttons with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. They're always popping up in the way of links that are placed at the bottom of web pages and I constantly hit that stupid button in the bottom right of the screen, opening that useless panning box. IMHO on-screen menus should never be placed in front of content. Am I the only one that thinks that's completely retarded?
multitouch
frankly i like the circle zoom!! i thnk tht wud b more convinient then the multi touch unless ur in landscape mode for some reason or another but yes i wud really like multi touch vk!! i need to b able to type faster but i still use my hardware keyboard for fast typing!
i prefer using two fingers to zoom in and out. I feel that by using two fingers you see where you are zooming and dont have a finger in the way. As multitouch is enabled in the rom, using two fingers emulates a finger press in between them, which can get quite enoying if you type fast ir knock a key by accident, u get a random key in the middle.
I know its not essential but these little things give it a nicer feel.

It's a matter of personal preference. Is that not why we like open source so much? Some of us don't want to open keyboards every 4 seconds. Some of us have magic's sans hardware keyboards.

HD2 Morphgear Virtual Gamepad (PlayStation Style) [WVGA, Landscape]

Hello everyone!
Few days ago I found Morphgear for HD2 by blutz (great app!). As I wasn't really satisfied with existing virtual gamepads (I'm not saying they're bad - in fact, they're great, but they just didn't met my preferences ), I decided to make my own PlayStation style skin for Morphgear (using some other skins floating around the forum).
For now, I'm really satisfied with it. I know, that it could be better - I plan to try to make action buttons a little bigger when I have some spare time. I would also like to make another skin - PSP style (and maybe three different skins for oldschool gamers - SNES, Genesis and GBA style ).
Here is some technical info about this skin:
- orientation should be set to east
- screen size should be 130-135% for Genesis and 150% for SNES and GBA
- in zip, there is one .bmp file and three .txt files - one for Genesis, SNES and GBA
Installation:
1. Unpack.
2. Put every file from archive (one .bmp and three .txt) to [Morphgear install dir]\skins on your HD2.
3. In Morphgear global options set screen orientation to east.
4. In each module options set screen size to desired values (130-135% for Genesis, 150% for SNES and GBA) and choose proper skin from list.
5. Enjoy
You're feedback would be great! Please, tell me, what you like and what you don't like in my skin - any suggestions would be highly appreciated!
Have fun!

For some reason I cant get morphgear to go into full screen mode with the skin. If I put on the default gamepad that comes with morphgear it works but this doesnt, can anyone tell me why?

Are you sure that you run it in east screen orientation? If yes, I had a similiar problem once, I had to do a softreset - after it everything worked fine.

I have similar problem like yours, untill I use Morhpgear2.4.09_HD2v0.8.cab, so the skin by Gleniu works perfect.
is it for play apps/games in htc hd2 or for another gamepad for play console games?
what apps/games we can use for this?

PSP Style Pad
I just did a bad thing! So I was looking at this gamepad and it's V.Cool - It got me to thinking about a PSP and... Hey presto!
This is just an edited button set based on Gleniu's and my own addition of some space and a pretty pic.
Comes in two flavours - North and East, I think you can work that out
(Oh Ok - to be used depending on orientation)
Hope you enjoy and thanks to Gleniu for the inspiration!
Please note that I do not claim to be clever enough to map buttons for this game - as I said I borrowed a bit from Gleniu.
It is with respect that I post this in this thread and give full credit to Gleniu for doing cool stuff!
This is pretty sweet!. It sucks we can't go full screen landscape on the HD2 but this is the next best thing. Works great with the modded Morphgear!
has anyone else experienced some 'lag' or slowdown when playing in landscape mode? it occurs when i use this pad.. but its not the only landscape pad where it occurs... in portrait mode it does not have that same slowdown every now and then... which is why i play in portrait.. but i would like to play landscape but the slowdown is kinda annoying... is there anyone with similar issues? or even a fix? maybe something i should change in my settings...

You most assuredly can! If you put it in Window size mode, it looks a touch stretched BUT it will definitely work...
It would be cool though if the game window could go to 200% and 250% - that way we could have the pad showing each side of the game (with a small border) I'm tempted to make a pad that is designed to "peak" out of each side for playing "Auto Scale" on the WVGA you get a pit of spare screen at each side.

Sensible soccer like game

I've been working in a soccer game for some time, still a lot of work to do but you can see an early preview here:
I'm working now on how to control the game, you can see in it in the video. I think this is the most important part of the game.
Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you!
looks awesome.
I guess you could control the player with the trackball, screen upside/down, and tap the screen to shoot/pass.
Or use your onscreen D-pad and tap to shoot/pass.
awesome stuff dude.. I tried this one football game from the market and it was serious crap... this is the kind of football that would work great on touchscreens i think.
Anyway.. i got a few suggestions/ideas
I like the way you use the trackball for direction of shot and strength. I'm not sure how fast you'd be able to do this during a game with 11 players trying to get the ball from you.
Makes me wonder if it's not better to have a few buttons on the top right side of the screen for passing/shooting etc and the joystiq for aiming. Also solves a tackling or pushing off the ball dilemma you might face with the trackball.
Sprinting; tapping the joystiq side in the direction you want to have the player sprint.
Probably ridiculous but if you really want to incorporate the accelerometer you could zig zag for tricks or something.
That is amazing! I love FIFA and this is perfect...cannot wait until it is finished. As is the controls look great.
Few ideas/suggestions
1. sorry shotormorgh, I don't mean to say your idea is bad...but personally i do not like it when games use the accelerometer. There are a few that make good use of it - but generally tilting the screen when you are trying to concentrate on it makes the gameplay harder. So i would say try to stay away from the accelerometer unless you would use it for camera angle - i.e. you can tilt your camera angle by tilting the screen a bit for better view - resulting in a more 3d look in which your sprites would just change depending on the view in use? (i've seen this in a racing game for the zune before and it was quite fantastic).
2. i really like the idea of "double" tapping your "d-pad" to cause the player to sprint. That is how most console games would do it anyways. And since you are using the d-pad to control the player it should be a pretty natural gesture.
3. I think that using the trackball for shooting control is alright - it is the only way i can think of controlling the accuracy of the shot without "dulling" down the game. The only other way would be to simply use the trackball as a button. When pushed it will simply shoot in the direction your player is pointing - resulting in loss of accuracy, but then you could use the trackball as a second d-pad for "trick" maneuvers and better defense?
4. If you stick with the shooting method you have now, which i would recommend, maybe you could make use of the search, home, back, menu buttons for defense and maneuvers?
5. You could also let your users choose the control options they want...for instance they can choose a beginner mode which will make the shot a simple shoot in the direction your character is pointing or choose advanced for the trackball aim and shoot?
Regardless, great work! The graphics look great and i cannot wait to play this game!

I was thinking some time about this. Using screen buttons to shoot/pass/etc needs multitouch screen to work, and not all devices support it. Anyway some people are telling me that many new devices come without trackball...
In my tests, the use of the trackball is pretty fast (and I'm not an skilled gamer).
The idea for the accelerometer look promising! Thanks!

I generally agree, accelerometer works nice with some games but I don't think it would have worked in this game as a main control, but as an optional control like shotormorgh says it would. I'll think in the camera angle thing you say.

2. i really like the idea of "double" tapping your "d-pad" to cause the player to sprint. That is how most console games would do it anyways. And since you are using the d-pad to control the player it should be a pretty natural gesture.

At this moment I haven't planned the sprint but seems very natural to use it this way.

Yes, trackball is used mainly as a button. Optionaly using the directions of trackball you can choose the height of shoot and effect of the ball.

4. If you stick with the shooting method you have now, which i would recommend, maybe you could make use of the search, home, back, menu buttons for defense and maneuvers?

For now I don't plan using hardware buttons. In the first version of the game I will limit a lot the controling options, then we will add some options slowly, as people ask for it.
ebbinger_413 said:
5. You could also let your users choose the control options they want...for instance they can choose a beginner mode which will make the shot a simple shoot in the direction your character is pointing or choose advanced for the trackball aim and shoot?

Yes, this morning I was thinking on a beginner/advanced mode.

Thanks for your input!
great job! looking forward to your first public release. If you need beta user, let me know!
Anyone know any action multiplayer game for Android? I'd like to see how responsive it is.
Sniper vs. Sniper.. I guess?
Finally, the game has been released!
It is still a very buggy beta version. We expect to get some feedback from early users.
If you want to try it, this is the game:

Thanks!
Seems nice from the video and the UI looks pretty good, but if I start a friendly match it crashes after I choose opposing team so can't really test it :\
Happens every time I select opposing team, I'm running N1 with one of the latest Cyanogen nightlies

Have you send the crash log from the force close? That will help.

Unfortunately the force close window only stays on my screen for 1/10th of a second, so I can't send the log.

Nice! But I can't find the stacktrace dump...
Try filtering only logs with the string "striker".
Thanks a lot! Having this info is quite useful!

There is no stacktrace in the logs as far as I can see, only an uncaught exception in the dalvikvm. Filtering for striker only gives me "striker create" and so forth.

It seems a memory allocation problem... I'll see if I can solve it, but seems difficult to reproduce.

New Multi-Touch Skins for Morphgear on the HD2!! BEST EVER!!!!!

********************
Edited by ME!!*************
Hi Guys!!
I've updated all my pads, Landscape and Portrait to have the new D-Pad and most have the new colours (which I find work a little better)
I'll keep on tweaking, but for the mo, I'm pretty happy with it.. Let me know if you have any issues.
Set your screen to 150%, will fit into the landscape window perfectly on all my pads.
For the new portrait pad I've recently uploaded, set screen size to auto.
These skins are ABSOLUTELY fantastic for games like Street Fighter2.
I can now do Ha-Do-Kens AND shoryukens ALL THE WAY ACCROSS THE SCREEN no probs!!!! I tried all the other skins I could get my hands on but found it too difficult to do the moves with them, so decided to try making my own with a modified keypad pattern, works a charm!
I've also extended the key-press areas to fit where fingers "would" go to by mistake for the buttons etc, and eliminated all blank space on the touch sensor part, so that you don't get unwanted key presses...
I've used the same d-pad skin and made button skins for the SMS and Mega Drive.. The SNES skin works for NES and GBA..
Try them out and let me know what you think.. If you have suggestions or games that for some reason don't work as well as others, please let me know.. I'd like to keep tweaking it..
I've used this pad flawlessly with..
SNES
Street Fighter 2
Final Fight
Mortal Kombat
Battletoads
RtypeIII
Star Fox
SMS
R-Type
Shinobi
Secret Command
Mega Drive
Golden Axe
Woooohooooo!!!
Downloading it !
Thx !

Hi!
To get multitouch to work you need a HD2 or a device with a screen that has multi touch (capacative)
Copy the skin files into the skins directory of morphgear using your file explorer.
In the set-up for the gaming console within morphgear, select the skin as your... skin..
Is this what you were after?
works perfect. but i would like them working at landscape mode so that there are more room for fingers. thanks man.
thanks !!!
tis a very good snes pad, cheers matey
will this work on the Omnia (i910)? thanks.
The best pad there is for Morphgear, thanks for sharing!
The only thing I need in Morphgear now is good Genesis audio support, it's rubbish now Sonic needs sound.
Any input is welcome!
i couldnt get the pad to show up in the select skin.what do i do?
yeah, best ever. I really love it, could you make it in landscape mode? the button A, B, X, Y is near the navigation button, therefore sometimes it makes hardly to play some games. thank you.
Vast improvement. Still difficult to run and jump in Donkey Kong Country, but a hell of a lot more playable than what I was using.
awesome skin, works really well.
i wish there was a landscape version though
Hey guys!
Thanks for all the feedback.. I'm gonna make a landscape versin after seeing everybodies posts..
This week I'm a little flat out with work, so I'll do a REALLY quick chop up of my portrait on and slap it together to see what it's like, (which I will probably put up tomorrow)..
I'll re-assess the landscape and spend a little more time making a better landscape for next week..
Hope this keeps the troops happy

MOrphgear Multitouch
sorry I meant how to use the Pad literally for Multi touch, to do the moves like dragon punch/Hadoken etc?
If I am not mistaken Morphgear does not support true multitouch so I cannot do the Moves as I would with a joystick.
regards
Ps: I have a HD2 with Artemis 26.1 Rom
Here's a quick one
Ok.. Here is a REALLY quick make up of the landscape version..
It's not finalised at all! But should be pretty functional.
I need to re arrange the buttons a little and re-do the graphics, but please test it and let me know how it goes and what sucks about it.
I will do it up properly over the weekend...

Thanks! but will there be a Genesis landscape version too?
I feel really silly for asking this but it's driving me mad... When I exit the settings screen (by pressing the X button), i get out of the app, so none of the setting changes are saved. But I really can't find any other way out! Could someone help me with this, please?
I am using a windows 6.5.3 build, so the X is on bottom, of course, @latest ChuckyRom.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Luís
