A summary of the problems.
- The timestamp on all received SMS's are 1 hour behind & the issue began on DST changes.
- The timestamp on all received SMS's are hours ahead / behind & are not related to DST.
- While the received SMS timestamp is off, all sent SMS's are perfectly fine.
- It messes up ordering of SMS's [if ordered by time received / sent].
A summary of the fixes.
- CAB from Diamond forum.
> Download and install
> OR create [HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\TrustTimeZoneField= 0]
- Registry change from Raphael forum.
> Create [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\ConsistentRoamingIconSlot= 0]
- CAB of Official Microsoft DST patch [Updated Aug 09].
> Download and install
- Registry change from Kaiser forum.
> Create [HKLM\Software\OEM\SMS\RecvTimeStamp= 0]
- Changing system time zone from Sapphire forum.
> Fiddle with System Time Zone [Settings > System > Clocks & Alarms > Time]
* if a key [eg. "SMS" in HKLM\Software\OEM\SMS] does not exist, create it [as a KEY].
* if a value [eg. "RecvTimeStamp" in HKLM\Software\OEM\SMS\RecvTimeStamp =0] does not exist, create it [as a DWORD].
My issue.
- My issue started with the DST change - my received SMS timestamps are 1 hour behind.
- All fixes I listed above are installed / entered, but do not work for me.
- A text from myself has the correct timestamp
- Other texts still have incorrect timestamps [1 hour behind]
- These texts were from an iPhone 3G / SE K800i on the 3 network
- Any suggestions?
Anyone?
It seems the Q&A forum lacks in answers...should it become the Q forum?
[Sorry if that comes across as harsh...but I really haven't found many answers here...]

Lumic,
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but this question has been asked many, many times and is resolvable (did you search, i found this using google in 3 minutes )
There is a solution at microsoft site for DST here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975353/en-us
Not read it all but i have posted this solution a year or so ago and it worked for others.

The patch you provided still links back to this is the same Microsoft "DST update" I stated did not work for me in the original post.

My searching isn't perfect, but as you saw I tried 3 xda-devs methods and the official Microsoft update. Could you point me towards other possible fixes [such as your own] if you know some?
Apolos......My bad, should read 100% and not 98 % lol
Edit....
I had posted this cab also, but noticed it had been posted in the diamond forum also.....
Most of these fixes work for 99% of people, i guess you are the exception
I am going to have to have a deeper dig, so apols if you dont get ur answer straight away
Cheers.
Thanks for your effort timmymarsh, I really appreciate it. I must say I have to take back my previous words - I guess the Q&A section does have good posters - I just don't see them often enough ;}
I am going to experiment with a few fixes at once, and continue to search for other "solutions".
Edit: I tried a few different search terms, and came across another registry entry from the Kaiser forum...which did not work.
I have updated the first post - I can text myself and receive the correct timestamp, but when my friend texts me the problem remains.

Thats interesting, is your mate on the same network and has he tried the df fix (or ms one). THis would prove (or not) that the timefix works. I believe it is not your phone that is the problem but other peoples which is why texting yourself works. Many people who have applied the fixs using all kinds of devices say they have no further problems, but of course if someones devices doesnt have the fix then the timings will appear incorrect.........
.........or am i just being simple
I am on the TPG network [which I believe leverages the Optus network].
My friend is on 3.
At first I thought it might be his problem too. However, his system time is correct, and I should note he is not on a WinMo / WinPho, but an iPhone 3G.
I also got a text from a SE K800i on 3, and the timestamp was again behind by 1 hour.
My guess only: Your friends' location is another timezone from your current location.

I can practically walk to my friend's house.
Update: I am now going to fiddle around with the system time zone.
Found a thread in the Sapphire apps & games [???] forum that says that I should adjust the system time zone.
Update: Tried adjusting the time zone, but it didn't help.
This is an interesting point though - in a time zone I changed to[I think GMT +11, from GMT +10], it corrected some SMS's I had already received [i.e. that were sitting in my inbox].
However, the ones I received after the change were still behind by 1 hour.
Could this mean it is a network / external problem?

Actually I had to set the value to 1 for the time stamp to work on my Diamond diam500. I have to do this every time I flash a new ROM or my sms timestamps are 5 hours in the future screwing up my threads conversations.

Why dont you create a cab with the reg change that you can auto install via UC after the flash?
If you dont know how, there are websites that you can type in the reg change you want to do enabling you to download the cab.
If you need it i will try and find the site if you dont have software to do this for yourself.
Chow.
Here is the cab download time zone fix thing. This link works as of now. The market place is no longer working. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977014

I have the same problem in Hawaii. I think its a network thing. It is like this for me on sprint and ATT when using my sprint branded TP2 in Hawaii. I cant figure it out.

Hi Everyone,
I, like many of you, spend way to much time setting phones up over and over again. Since a big part of this is registry edits, I have built a web site that allows you to check off the registry options you want, which it then uses to create a downloadable CAB file to install that will contain all of those registry tweaks. This makes things completely reversible by uninstalling the CAB file.
Notes:
This is Beta. While I have used it, and it's a very basic process, it isn't commercial software by any means.
If you would like to add a new feature, post in this thread.
You may install more than one cab file created with this tool. Just use different names at the bottom of the form.
Without further delay, here's the site:
<edit> The tool has now moved to nowsci.com. If you have any issues, please let me know. </edit>
http://nowsci.com/registry-changer/
Thanks,
Ben
* hold for updates *
Update 1: HTML now renders mobile friendly, so you can use this straight from your device.
Update 2: Edit feature added.
Update 3: Can now manually specify string or integer.
Update 4 [11/17/2008]: Can now specify the app name for install, allowing the user to have more than one Registry Changer cab installed at any point in time.
Update 5 [03/27/2009]: Fixed some character flaws for input. Preparations for move to a new host.
Update 6 [04/22/2009]: Added a filter option.
The site now has the ability for the end user to add registry entries to the database.
Thank you very much. I believe the "Camera Enhancements" entry is mis-titled. Shouldn't it be Rotate Picture 90 degrees, not 180 degress?
Doh! I will fix that.
Also, just added all the registry entries from the Diamond Tweaks post.
What about the Bluetooth DUN profile adding to the list? - Mike
What's the registry entries for that? Happy to add them, or you can add them yourself now through the site.
What happens if you tweak a registry entry that does not exist on your specific device or rom?
Good question. For the most part, I would guess nothing. If there is nothing on your system looking for the registry entry, then it won't effect anything. That being said, that doesn't mean WM doesn't look for registry entries that aren't there. For instance, the following tweak:
Enable Vision Duration/Disconnect Popup
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2=16
Flags2 doesn't exist by default on most any WM6 phone. Adding it in, enables the disconnect.
Who added the "Mighty" tweaks? Is that a phone? Many of those seem like they should go in Misc. I might clean that up if those aren't specific to a phone.
Would it be possible to have a wiki of descriptions for each of these options? I know I could Google them one by one but I'm sure users would appreciate a single source.
Hmm, not a bad idea. I wonder if there was a spot on the xda wiki I could use for it since I don't have my own. I may end up integrating a detailed description field for each item with a question mark next to it. Unfortunatly I won't be able to define them all since people have added one's I've never used.
OK I have a request. I don't' so much mind tweaking the settings when I flash. However what does drive me nuts and keeps me from flashing is knowing I will have to reconfigure all my email accounts. I just use the default mail program, but what a pain going through and adding my 7 yes Seven email accounts every time I flash my phone. Is there a way to make a cab that would auto input all my account settings? The reason for so many accounts, is I have personal accounts, business accounts, email list accounts, car club accounts, and forum subscription accounts.
It would be awesome to be able to go to a site, or run an app where I could plunk in all my account settings, then create a cab store it to my SD card and whenever I flash, just run the cab and POOF all my accounts are setup.
Unfortunately, probably wouldn't be easy to make a cab. However, programs like Sprite Backup will do this for you. You can selectively restore your mail using SB, however I generally back up my phone once I get things the way I like it, then if anything goes sour, I hard reset, then restore.
any1 made an ultimate tweak.cab? maybe make your diamond seem as fast as a custom rom?????????????
then any hardreset.......

+1 on descriptions of each cab
Wow very nice! Thanks!
I suggest a field to make a *.cab regarding to any registry path/setting the user wishes (if the user is more technical).
without having to actually add to the public entry list.
This will allow the ability to:
1. not have to wait for the admin to add the specific entry
2. allows the author of the new *.cab to distribute their new edit on the fly.
3. give the admin to log & analyze the entries in the custom field to and determine more of the common *custom* entries the ppl may want. Thus not having to depend on explicit user input and emails all the time.
First - thanks for putting this together!
Quick question - I had it "enable" GPS coded photos...but I don't think it did? Shouldn't I have an option somewhere in my camera menu to activate this once I've installed the .cab? Additionally, I don't believe "enable landscape pictures" and "sport mode" worked - how do I know?
Many thanks!
Oh, and I forgot to mention (not that it matters???) that I'm on an HTC Touch Pro with Sprint - stock ROM. I'm new to all this, so I apologize if this is basic stuff.
And no, this is not another one of those.. " I locked myself out threads".
I used to have a Treo 700wx which worked wonderfully until I switched to ATT and bought a HTC tilt. The Tilt being way faster and everything I could ask in a phone there is 1 small problem..
With the Treo, when I went to "lock" I could enter any sequence of numbers, either being 1111 or 1234, or anything simple. With the Tilt, its not so simple.
When I try to enter a simple password, it says it must be more complex.. The exact error message is "Password Error. Please enter another password. The password must be at least 4 characters and not contain a simple sequence". That's nice and all HTC, but considering my phone is in MY pocket 90% of the day, I don't necessarily need a complex password.
Ive tried looking on xda, all the possible software sites that Google has thrown at me, and I couldn't find a single post or thread about this.
I do know there are programs out there like the iphone slider, which is amusing. and a couple of other ones with patters and whatnot.
So my question is Does anyone know of a way to make it so I could have a simple pin with the default lock program? And if not, does anyone know of a similar program that does the same thing?
The reason I ask is myself a few other windows 6.1 users have also asked the same question. If anyone knows, please share so this community will know!
Thanks
- Felman

I'd suggest editing the registry, and changing the policies.
However, if you're synching with Office/Outlook Exchange servers and the server is actively pushing security restrictions to your phone periodically, you might have a hard time getting rid of said restriction permanently.
Thank you Bouvrie for your post, and I did find some useful information, but nothing to the lines of actually modding the registry to allow me to have custom passwords that are not complex.
Any more ideas?
So this part ain't of any help to you ?

Living in Israel, I have run into issues with daylight savings time on my Windows Mobile device more than once in the past.
Due to political reasons combined with the usage of a lunar calendar for some purposes (this one in particular), Israel has a differnt daylight savings period each year.
Microsoft has never provided a good and straightforward solution for this. In recent years I had the chance to speak to more than one representative of Microsoft in Israel. The solutions were finally provided, but it never felt like they wanted users to get them.
Of course, without the correct DST settings, all appointments get offset by 1 hour (either compared to real life, or just compared to Outlook, which gets the correct settings from Windows, which in turn gets them from my company's IT manager).
This can become quite a mess if not taken care of in time, i.e., before the DST change occurs.
This year, preparing for the DST change scheduled for the coming Friday (March 27th), I searched the Microsoft support pages and found this update, which is supposed to do the work. I believe this is just the second time Microsoft has released such an update (the first was March 2008).
The update is for several countries including also Iran, Egypt and Argentina.
Thank you for this information!
Great! Solved my biggest mobile problem.

Hi globalgpj,
KB958729 will not help you, it's only good for 2009.
I myself am facing the same problem since yesterday morning, obviously.
A Microsoft solution is not available, quite clearly because of the discontinuation of WinMobile and transfer to WP7.
What we need to be looking for is the registry entry that sets the daylight savings change date, and modify it to next Friday, which is when we really change to DST here in the holy land. This might not be easy. See the info here, which I'm still trying to figure out.
This link does show a registry entry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Clock] / "HomeDST": REG_DWORD, which looks like it it can provide a temp solution. That is, if you change it from "1" back to "0", you disable DST. Then you can set it to "1" again next Friday morning.
However, I've tried, it keeps changing back automatically.
So, no solution so far, sorry. I'll keep trying and let you know if I find anything. Otherwise, perhaps a different time zone (Moscow?) for the coming week will do the trick.
Thanks for the detailed reply.
It's sad that MS is not on top of this. There is only millions of users that will have a problem without all the proper settings. For MS its really a little research and posting a cab every year.
Alternatively, someone could write a program that we could even purchase to effect these sort of changes that are required from time to time.
In the meantime, I have set the dword value to 0 and just created a cab to just change it back to 1 next week.
Cheers

This is a little project i've been working on and i thought it was ready enough to be released into the wild. Below is the readme file. I think it covers everything for now. Before posting please read the first 3 posts - especially post 3 - if it is obvious that you haven't done this i will not respond with any form of help and i don't not expect any of the users to do so either.

Included with this zip file are several .cab, .reg and .xml files that will automatically configure your NRGZ28 energy rom when XDA_UC runs upon first boot after flashing.
Included are the following configuration files
activesync.xml
This will configure your MS Exchange settings. Editing with your personal settings is required. Look for the username, server, domain and password tags at the start of the file
aGPS.reg
Enables aGPS
BackLight.reg:
Sets backlight to auto. There are some other settings included for dim and light off times when on battery and AC power aswell
bt_ident.reg
Sets the Bluetooth Identity. Edit the deviceid line to suit
copy.mscr
Copies files from the copy2root folder to the matching location in device storage. A My Documents folder with My Ringtones and My Wallpapers sub folders have been created already. Place you ringtones and wallpapers in these folders. There is also an application data folder which contains a coreplayer config.xml and a program files folder which contains a myPlayer options.ini. Feel free to create more. Thanks to nrfitchett4 for providing this script.
Del.mscr
This file will remove all unwanted ringtones, wallpapers and any other files you decided to add. Edit as you need to. N.B any readonly files will need attributes changed before they can be deleted.
DisableSenseVsync.cab
Disables Vsync in sense increasing the framerate thus making it faster
HD2MemTweaks.cab
Increase's glyphcache size past the bsb tweaks and advanced config defaults, incrases filesystem cache size and a few other bits. This cab file is optional. Delete it if you don't want it. Thanks go out to g.lewarne for documenting the tweaks
HTCAlbumIgnore.reg
Stops the sense music player playing ringtone files from \My Documents\My Ringtones\ and \storage card\ringtones. Copy the examples
if you want to add to it.
M3PH HTC Location Service Enable.cab
Enables HTC location Service and automatically excepts the TOS
ident.reg
Changes the phones identity at first boot. If NRGZ28 won't make it sensible i'll make it so we can customise it . Editing required. this one is pretty obvious
Palringo.reg
Sets up palringo, sorta, change [email protected] to your user name and it should show up at sign in. All you need to do is enter your password
QuickGPS.reg
Enables and configures QuickGPS with the defaults
Ringtones.reg
Configures the ringtone, sms tone and email tone. Needs some editing but you only need to change the file name for each entry, not the
path. The Ringtone2 entry allows for second ringtone to be added to the list of usable ones so you change them with too much fuss.
Also enables flashing light on sms reception for 5 minutes.
wifi_setup.xml
wifi settings. Edit required. This link should help you set it up (see post 3 for details on how to edit)
M3PH Enable Time Auto Update.cab
Enables NTP
Volume.Reg
Sets the volume levels. You can use this one or export your own from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume
Windows live.reg
Pretty much configures windows live. You do still need to enter your password and you will also need to do atleast one manual sync before Sense will create the mailbox on the email tab but otherwise it works
Opera User Agent String folder
See the readme.txt in that folder
Sense Folder
If you put your wallpaper in this folder it will be installed as the sense default. Just rename it to sense_wallpaper.png.
Start Menu folder
Copy Start Menu shortcuts here

Change Log
Change Log:
1.1.1 Final
Removed Keyboard sensitivity tweaks
Removed opera memory tweaks
Added more palringo settings
Added Quick shutdown settings
1.1 Final
Updated volume.reg to default to seperate system and ring volume controls.
Removed all tweaks now included in Energy roms dated nov30 and newer. I will leave v1.0 posted for a while so people that like to install older versions still get the benefit
1.0 Final
Added Windows_live_settings.reg. You will need to edit it as prescribed on page 16 but it will work.
Added Improved GPS settings.cab. This is untested by me but i trust scabes24 enough to know he's not going to pass on unreliable tweaks
Improved M3PH Location Service enable.cab: Added an extra registry setting that should trigger Manila to showing it's on. This is doubtful but even if it doesn't the file does work
Added alarm_settings.reg: This is only an example file. You will need to export your own settings but this should be a reasonable starting point
Removed readme.txt: It was a habit a picked up from Linux development practices and was pointless for this project
Removed time.reg permanently because there is nothing changed in the registry when it is enabled.
--- Pre Final releases
Tips and Tricks
What follows are some tips and tricks i have found that i'm not going to include for whatever reason but thought some people might find handy or notes on what settings do what and their options.
Q. Can i delete file xyz using xda_uc because i like to have as much space as possible?
Yes you can. i found this link. All you need to do is create a file in the xda_uc folder with the extension .mscr which contains the following:
Code:
delete \test.txt, TRUE
or
Code:
deltree \test, TRUE
Obviously change test to the file or directory you want to delete. For more details check out the provided link above.
Q. The default wifi.xml doesn't match my configuration and i can't find a resource that tells me what are valid values for the options?
A. See this link and this one. As a note if you use WPA2 you need to use <parm name="Authentication" value="6" /> and WPA2-PSK is 7
Q. The exchange settings in activesync.xml aren't how i like them. Can i change them?
A. Sure can! Here's a link to the documentation
Q. I use a [enter service name here] and i want to create an xml file to configure it when i update my rom. Can i do this?
A. Thanks to microsoft developing WAP provisioning to an incredibly encompassing level you can do almost anything. See this link
Q. I want to make a cab file out of all my changes. How do i this?
A. There are many ways but i think this is the best one i've found because it doesn't involve any third party software and is really simple. All you need is the windows mobile sdk, which can be found here. You may also need visual studio but i'm not sure
Making either is very simple. You just pass a normal XML file to makecab and give it the name of the output file you want. The one trick is that the XML file must be named _setup.xml. If you call it something else, makecab will succeed, the CAB or CPF file will be generated fine, and then it will fail with a cryptic error when you try to use it. Beware, the documentation doesn't make this very clear.
The syntax for making a CAB file is:
Code:
makecab _setup.xml config.cab
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Q. Wow you really do know a lot about this sort of stuff. How can i learn?
A. Well i don't know that much at all really, i just learn fast. Most of the stuff you see here was obtained from or via this MSDN article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc500581.aspx
Q. Is there a way to boost the performance of Opera in terms of memory/speed?
A. Yes, this cab will force Sense to unload when launching Opera, allowing for better performance while browsing. (When exiting Opera, Sense will then reload) (thanks to Scabes24 for this one)
Code:
[URL="http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O5O1RE97"]Enable Opera Max Memory Tweak.cab[/URL]
Q. I've installed the Opera tweak and everything is working fine, but the page loading seems very slow. Is there a way to improve this?
A. Yes you can, the following registry tweak will enable almost instantaneous web page loading in the web browser. It apparently enables wireless N mode but seems to work with cellular data too. Go to:
HKLM/Comm/BCMSDDHD1/Parms
11nModeDisable = Change from 1 to 0 (thanks to Scabes24 for this one aswell)
Q. My wifi hotspot uses EAP certification and i can't use it because the phone gives me a certificate verification failure error. What can i do?
This was posted in the energy rom thread
NRG, after weeks of not being able to connect to my work wireless network because I was getting a "certificate is from an unknown authority" error, I finally got it working. Can you add this key to your ROMs?
[\HKLM\Comm\EAP\Extension\25\]
"ValidateServerCert"=dword:00000000

Thanks to oppressa for hunting this one down. The tweak is included as an option in EXCT as M3PH EAP Cert Disable.cab

The FAQ
Q. Will you include xyz tweak for me?
A. Only if it's a common one or one that i haven't thought of
Q. I use xyz program and i want to have the config file included in your great collection. What do ya' say?
A. See above but you could always spend 10 minutes tracking it down and then creating a folder in copy2root for it
Q. Why is the bluetooth identity the only tweak for BT you include?
A. Because everyones setup and hardware is far too different for it to be worth it. Also, Although you can export the pairings importing them may not be possible due to the way the bluetooth security protocols work.
(More To Come)
Happy to try this, thank you for cobbling everything together.
wow
this would be so handy, i hate spending time making your phone how you like it. I don't flash as often because i get too comfortable with the current configuration.
thanx M3PH
btw: without NRGZ28 i would have sold my HD2 7 months ago

No worries. I did it because i was getting annoyed with spending ages setting everything up and even more annoyed with people not reading the energy rom FAQ properly (i'm guilty of that too). I used the pre-release version last night after flashing the latest energy rom and it saved me in the region of an hour to an hour and a half. It's not perfect by a long way. Things like the sms led notification is enabled and some people may not like that but is is easily reverted with bsb tweaks.
My plans for the next version is to have all the reg files converted in to cab files for they can be removed and i'll tidy up the readme a bit.
One thing i would like help with though is the FAQ. Can the first few people take notes of any problems or questions they have and things or that nature.
Thanks everybody
Thank you, I'll try it out with the new Energy release. I'd be happy with the reg files to import it doesn't even need to be a cab!
Thanks!

Cab files are better because they can be removed and Reg files can't. So if one of these files causes a problem your stuck and that's why it's labeled as alpha software. Also labelling it as that will scare off the less experienced users from trying it and doing themselves a mischief.
V0.2 will be all cab files as far as possible but don't expect a release until 0.1 has had a thorough real world testing.
oh. it is better ,if i find this post eight hour ago.
it drives me nuts ,everytime i get into a new nrg rom.
thank you very much.
Great idea man, thank you so much for this!
Thanks a lot for this! It will definitely save me a lot of time after a rom update. I just have to hope I've set them up correctly and dont break something

My temptation would be to assume that the FAQ is written for me if I can install and get it working anyone can. For instance in the wifi detailing where the various parm's can be found would make it much easier to install. Very happy to install on what you have and pass back any questions assumptions.
As I frequently flash(ROM's only) I can help with refining the documentation.

Sweet, thanks. That is exactly the sort of thing i'm looking for, because it's been over a year since i did any kind of manual writting i'm pretty rusty. It also doesn't i developed most of the parts in just over 24 hours working on my phone and not my pc everything is a bit scattered in my mind. That's the reason why the readme looks the way it does. It all came out in a bit of a splurge.
The wifi script is one of my older scripts and it took 3 attempts to get right and now i can't for the life of me find the resource on ms technet that i used.
I'll probably have a sitdown over the weekend and have a rerun through the readme and make it a bit more detailed. If i can make it as easy to install as possible then the faq won't be such an important thing
How many people want me to include a coreplayer config.xml in the next version? i've got one that works perfectly with myplayer and turbo3d.
Nice Work
I used a number of these to flash the latest Energy Rom and it worked out great. Very smooth! It will be interesting to see what is added on in the future. Thank you for putting the time in and starting a new thread.

Very interesting sir!
I am going to flash the new Energy ROM either tonight or tomorrow and so will chuck this in with it.
I wont use several of them as I dont use those aspects, but those I do will return with feedback.
I have been frustrated with this as well.... fingers crossed.
Hi there,
This software is an Antitheft and you can use it to track your device when it was lost or stolen. It works catching a formated SMS/EMail sent from any phone/computer and then receiving useful informations back.
You can use it to others objectives, like keep your eye in your child. Use your imagination!
You can set up to four emergengy contacts to receive SMS if the thief change your SIM card and you still can track your device.
The RemoteTracker for Android is an evolution from an old project for Windows Mobile 6 (If you want to see the entire history, please click here).
I'm justing starting this project. There are much more to come.
To send a command to RemoteTracker, send a SMS with the syntax: RT#(command)#(phone or e-mail)#(password). Example: RT#EGP#[email protected]#1234. This version answer the commands below:
help - send to you a list of commands available in Android platform;
ehelp - same as 'HELP', but send the list by e-mail;
fhelp - same as 'HELP', but send the list to your FTP server;
gp - try to get GPS coordinates and send back to cel number passed as parameter;
egp - same as 'GP', but send the list by e-mail;
fgp - same as 'GP', but send a file to your FTP server;
gi - Send informations about your phone: IMSI, IMEI and ICCID;
egi - Same as 'GI' but the answer goes by e-mail;
fgi - Same as 'GI' but the answer goes to your FTP server;
cb - your phone will make a Call Back to you. Just make a call and let the microphone open;
cellid - Retrieve informations (CELLID, LAC, MNC and MCC codes) about the tower your phone are connected. Send to you by SMS;
ecellid - same as 'CELLID', but the answer goes by e-mail;
fcellid - same as 'CELLID', but the answer goes to your FTP server;
secret - if you forget your password you can use this command to receive by SMS your personal secret question;
lostpass - used to receive your password if you forgot it. You must send the answer for your secret question, so, you can use the secret command to help you;
Commands available only in PRO version:
PICSON - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) watch for new photos and send them to Default EMail Address;
PICSOFF - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) stop to watch for new photos;
EPICSON - Same as PICSON, but send an E-Mail back;
EPICSOFF - Same as PICSOFF, but send an E-Mail back;
FPICSON - Same as PICSON, but send the answer to FTP server;
FPICSOFF - Same as PICSOFF, but send the answer to FTP server;
PCALLSON - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) takes a photo on a call is receive or made and send it to Default EMail Address;
PCALLSOFF - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) stop to take photos on calls;
EPCALLSON - Same as PCALLSON, but send an E-Mail back;
EPCALLSOFF - Same as PCALLSOFF, but send an E-Mail back;
FPCALLSON - Same as PCALLSON, but send the answer to FTP server;
FPCALLSOFF - Same as PCALLSOFF, but send the answer to FTP server;
WIPEDATA - This command will return your device to factory default and format your SD Card.
There are another features inside RemoteTracker, like:
- SIM CARD change observer;
- Automatically restore your preferences if you reinstall it. This feature is particular useful if you have a custom ROM with RemoteTracker inside. Once configured, everytime your devices boots up, your preferences will be restored;
- Works as Device Admin, so it can't be uninstalled if you don't know the password;
- And more...
This project can be multi-language. In this version there is only English (sorry about it, my english is very bad because this is not my mother language). If you want to make your own translate, I can tell how. Very simple.
If you decide to try RemoteTracker, I would like to read reviews, comments and suggestions. Remember this is a beta version and may contain bugs. Use at your own risk and with caution.
--> It is a work in progress. In future versions I will make a lot more.

Hello friends!
To test RemoteTracker please download it from here:
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk
Before your tests, please turn on the Debug option. It will make RemoteTracker write the remotetracker.txt file in the root of your memory card.
All the best,
Joubert
I just released the second beta!!!
Now, RemoteTracker can automatically turn on the Mobile and WiFi network to try get location and send EMails!
For older phones RemoteTracker also will automatically turn on the GPS! Unfortunately this is impossible if you are using new Android versions (2.3.x or so).
A few minor bugs was fixed.
All the best,
Joubert

GPS can be enabled in 2.3+ - but only if device is rooted. That's what it says in the Cerberus entry in "AppStore" [edit: AndroidMarket].
Hi!
Yes, if you have a rooted device is very easy to enable GPS remotely. But I do not recommend in any way for users to root the phones for security reasons.
I think you are talking about Market, not AppStore We are talking about Android not Apple

New beta 0.3!!!
Hello again,
I just released version 0.3. Now we got FTP answers back!
In Configurations I added a session to input your FTP server details. The example commands GI and GP now works with FGI and FGP as well.
Once again minor bugs was fixed. If you want to try please download the APK here: http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk
As soon as possible I'll make a TODO list and a Road Map.
All the best,
Joubert
Copying my post form the old thread so I can subscribe to this one:
Wow, nice to see this make it to Android.
Some suggestions,
1: Name it something that isn't obvious in the market. Don't want a thief easily finding it in the installed apps list. Going to the market and then buying "my apps" shows you exactly what's installed. So you should name it something totally different that nobody would suspect or want to remove. Like "memory maximizer" or something like that. Probably want to keep it in the middle of the alphabet so it's not at the top or bottom of the list.
2: Maybe make a way to remotely monitor the front/rear camera. Then you could get the thief on video (and also see if it's a crowd, or some huge guy you don't want to mess with, lol).
I'll try to help test when I get another phone and more time. Right now I don't have a lot of time to work out bugs. And more importantly I only have the 1 phone, and I can't afford to have it malfunctioning (I need it for work). I'll buy a used extra phone for testing and then I'll help test.
Thank's!
Be sure I'm worry about the Name I'll post on Market. Not now. I'm trying to make it working and I'll see what I can do later.
About cameras, yes, I think we can control them. At least take pictures and send to an e-mail account. To remotely monitor the cameras, may be I need a server to receive/transmit stream. Of course this is in my todo list

Joubert

I would rather set up my own server (or even directly stream peer to peer from the device). That way you don't get stuck with hosting fees and the app doesn't die if you decide to stop supporting it someday (not that you would).
There are many possibilities. I'll try all of them.

Another beta
Hi all,
I release another beta. Once again, if you decide to try it, please download from http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk.
I edited the first post to add new features. And I have a notice...
I created a free and pro versions. The free version will have the most common commands we had in Windows Mobile. Only specific commands for Windows Mobile I can't write for Android. Pro version will have new features to come (I don't know yet).
But I don't want to charge my friends, so, if you are a beta tester or help me with anything, I'll give the PRO version for free. But it's for future now I'm engaged to finish RemoteTracker free as best as I can do.
All the best,
Joubert
Possible Bugs
Hi Joubert,
Thank you for have been developing so useful application. I believe everyone here is excited about what you are doing.
I tried your better version and here what I have to say:
1) You stated that the command format is RT#EGP#[email protected]#1234, but what if I want to use command to upload that info to FTP? Then,theoretically, I don't need to indicate my email or phone in the command. At the same time commands like "RT#FGP#1234{this is a password}", "RT#FGP##1234{this is a password}" are not recognized as valid RT commands or even failed with fatal exception. How can I upload this info to FTP, what should be the format of the command in this case?Indicating an email inside the command or phone number when sending to FTP seems a kind of redundancy.
2) Once an Fatal error appeared, it started appearing for each further VALID command which were working before. Error states the following:
Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on non-object in /celerra/webstor/root.dev/usr/sms core.php on line 234, most likely there it has some null reference there.
3) In the log file I see that its trying to send messages to invalid address substituting "@" at "?". Does it mean it sends to correct address but it writes to the logs incorrectly or is it really a bug? Because I don't receive any emails at all.For example, when sending RT#EGI#[email protected]#De41Be02AF in the logs I see that it mentioned it sent the message to "test?test.ru" instead of "[email protected]"
This is it for now. I can try to help you out with programming. I have no experience in Android development but have been developing in C# for 7+ years.
Again thanks for you effort.

You should use: rt#fgp##1234 The double # are still necessary. I'm working on a simpler syntax to be used in final version.
I'm worried about fatal errors. That's why I released beta versions. Please use Configurations Menu and check the Debug Options. After that you will see in the root of your memory card a file named remotetracker.txt. Send that file to me please.

Notices
I almost finished writing the commands that existed in RemoteTracker for Windows Mobile (at least the ones Android can execute).
But I'm still trying to make the security of RemoteTracker to be more robust. I had Features in Windows I can't write for Android yet:
- Prompt for password when uninstalling;
- Lock / Unlock the unit with the LOCK / UNLOCK commands;
I'm not able to use the camera without the need to provide a preview to the user. According to the source code of Android that is impossible, but I saw some programs doing that, so there is a way to do that and I'm looking for this information.
If anyone knows how please help me
All the best,
Joubert

Hide Remote Tracker Application
Hi Joubertvasc:
Are you planing to make a feature to hide the Remote Tracker from the drawer and from any place of the phone. Like with the Theft Aware; you can access the application by dialing from the Phone Dialer. You enter your four code number then hit call. This will open the apllication without calling the number.
Regards;
Willie
Sounds good. I will take a look about how to do that.
Thank you.
Hi!
After a long time I'm back with a new version. This one has lots of bug fixes:
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk
My problem now is Android 3.1 and later, because they don't intercept messages all the time. They need human access the configuration module once to work. Security issue Google said... I'm trying to find an exit.
Best regards,
Joubert
G'day mate.
Long time no see. Great work on this app so far.
I've finally gotten around to installing it and play around with it a little.
I'm testing this on HTC One X with Revolution HD ROM
Here are a few ideas and tips for you to incorporate into your next version.
1. Include an option that allows users to set how many replies to get back from your software.
For Example. If I were to use #RT#GPS#1234, it currently only sends 1 reply. The problem with this is that most GPS units are accurate withing 5 - 10 meters. I tested it on myself where I am and it picks me up as being 2 houses down. If there was an option to send me 3 replies, in 60 second intervals, at least I would get the average GPS location of the phone. If your phone is stolen, it would also be a good idea to have unlimited SMS replies with 60 second intervals so I can get real time minute by minute location on where my phone is. Maybe this might be an idea for your Pro version. Have the option for how many replies to get and also an option for interval time between each reply.
2. Another idea for Pro version. Hide the RemoteTracker Icon from the Apps menu, or disguise it as a useless setting so if a thief were to look in the Apps menu, they wouldn't see it straight away, so wouldn't be forced to reset the ROM. Most thieves aren't smart enough to reset the phone as soon as they steal it, They normally wait till they get home..... but if he saw a tracking program, it would make them either turn the phone off right away, or reset the ROM right away.
3. I dont know much about Android programming, but an idea for capturing the Camera is to embed the photo into an MMS, or as an attachment in an email. Trying to muck around with FTP would be a waste of time because the average user wont have an FTP server, and you dont want to set up a central one because it would give every noob hacker a target to try and get into.
I will keep playing around and get back to you with any other problems or ideas for you.
Keep up the great work.
Loved the software on WinMo and looks like the Android version will be just as great.
