Do I have to install a radio after successful HARD-SPL - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Hello everyone and thanks for your patience with my noob question.
I'm successfully applied and completed the HARDSPL for my Verizon Version TP2 Pro World Phone, and would like to apply a Rom, specifically NRGZ "Leo" rom, however I am confused by different tutorials on how to do this.
Do I need to flash a new "radio" now before the rom? If so how do I know which one I need? Or is it included in the ROM that I download.
I tried loading one radio Latest Radio (4.46.25.24) which says its for my phone but after hitting 100% it gave me a 290 error that its not for my phone.
I'd greatly appreciate any help regarding this?
Great site and thanks again!
Dazzl

no you don't have to and would not suggest radio flashing if you are new to flashing

ok thanks very much, so even though I tried applying the radio rom, it got to 100% complete but then said error 290 invalid command (on the PC) "this update utility cannot be used for your device)....so is it likely that my radio rom did not update.
Right now my phone screen has three color bars, RGB, so next would be to flash with the rom i want, right.

Serious Help Needed Flashing Custom ROMS, Please Help!!

I am in dire need of some help when it comes to flashing custom ROMs. It appears that I can no longer flash custom ROMs. I can successfully flash the official 1.62 ROM from HTC website, the dumped TILT ROM, the Kaiser dumped ROM, and the WM6.1 WWE 3.03.405.0_radio_sign_25.70.40.02_1.64.06.04, but any other ROM I can’t. Let me explain my meaning of not being able to flash a ROM. Once it flashes 100% and reboots, when the “Tap the screen to begin to set up your windows-mobile device” is supposed to be displayed, all I get is a blank white screen. If I touch my stylus to the screen the text shows up, but none of the colored pictures that suppose to be in the back ground. Every section of the setup just displays the text no background images. Even my today screen won’t display any background images.
Does anyone have any information on this? I’ve abused this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314615 like a cheap dirty whore trying to find a solution, but no avail. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

some come with radios, but most dont. You have to be sure if you need an AT$T specific radio or not.

When I was running the WM6.1 3.03 ROM with radio 1.64.X.X, I flashed to Alex 1.62 ROM and my radio changed to 1.27.X.X. Didn't this flash change my radio?

yes, if those are the only two flashes you have done, then it sounds like you might have had the unfortunate luck of having a bad flash. Reflash again and see what happens.
Edit:
Did you also do a hard reset at the "tap here to begin screen alingment" screen? If not, always do so.

I always hard reset when flashing new roms (learned alot in the kasier wiki). This is what I'm trying. Flashing to ATT 1.62 (Offical from HTC website) > manually flashing to 1.27.04.09 radio > Flashing to Alex's 1.62 ROM
Anyone else have any suggestions?
I have a few ideas that I think may help. PM me when you get a moment. It may Late saturday or sunday till I can get back to you, but I need to know a coupl of things. So, if you're still stuck, let me know.

Check out the ROM Upgrading section of the Kaiser wiki under 'Troubleshooting' to learn how to enter bootloader mode.
Assuming that you installed HardSPL the first time you flashed, once you've booted into this mode, reconnect your device to your USB cable and flash another ROM.
For those who haven't looked at the Kaiser wiki in a while, I've completely revamped it w/TOC pages to make it alot easier to use (shameless plug)

?? This is not my issue. I'm not a complete beginner when it comes to flashing. Ever since I flashed the WM6.1 3.03 ROM I haven't been able to flash a custom ROM without having an image problem. I can still flash OEM type ROMS without the image issue, but not custom ROMS. I have the problem with images once a custom ROM has been flashed. If more clarification of problem is needed, I am will to give it.
This may be extreme and largely untested, but have you tried 'clear storage' on the WM6.1 ROMs and chosen 'delete NAND' (or something to that effect)?
That should wipe your ROM memory clean, although I'm not sure if that would help or hinder your cause, as I haven't heard anyone try it yet...
Hope this helps!

No, I haven't tried, but I guess I'll give it try when I get back in town on thursday.
Sorry I had to bug out....
Alex, his problem is a little different than a RUUBNH error that's commonly seen. I tried walking him through a CE reset using MTTY & he can't even communicate with his bootloader. MTTY wouldn't establish a USB connection. I agree that formating the Nand may help, but I think you really should also try & reflash hardspl as well. I suggest the new version with AT command support. I have seen a few funky hardspl flashes that inhibit communication, although rare.
I didn't forget you though Kjones, & I'm trying to duplicate your problem & find an answer.

Question about roms on wiki

Hi, I'm absolutely a noob in flashing rom but in these day I'm reading a lot about it while I wait to recive my at&t tilt.
I would like to put in it an original htc rom and I found a couple of those in the wiki. I also read to pay attention to the "radio version" (I still don't get what radio is though) so here is my question: does "3.03.405.0 (Radio 1.64.06.04) updated original WWE" in this page already include the correct radio version? in other words: is it ready to be flashed into a tilt as it is?
any advice is appreciated, thanks

A Radio is the Firmware for accessing the Cell networks, GPS, some sound/camera drivers etc.
Only certain radios are compatable with certain ROMs.
I can't speak for the ROM you suggested but it looks like it includes a Radio. You can check after flashing by looking on the boot screen, there are 3 version numbers, radio is the one next to R:.
If it isnt the correct version just flash a new radio like you flashed your ROM.

Kaiser stuck on custom ROM, cannot update ROM or Radio, Tried EVERYTHING!

Hi, I have a Tilt with PDA Corner Ultimate V.10,
Hard SPL 3.29,
and radio 1.27.14.09 (AT&T Stock)
The radio is causing the phone to have no sound, but everything else works fine. I know this problem is common, but I have tried everything within my ability and cannot get it to flash to any other ROM or radio.
When flashing a new ROM or radio, it shows the current version and update version, but never gets past 0% without a 262 error
I have tried all of the solutions I found posted on the forum, (Jump SPL, MTTY, EVERYTHING) trust me i've searched and read and searched more, I am not a newb to this although my post count is low.
Is there anyone with this particular problem on this particular ROM/radio combination that can help me out?

Maybe this is another one of those 'Radios from Hell' that won't let you upgrade. Note this quote from Ultimate Radio Thread:

A clear advice to all is: always make sure you have HardSPL installed and your device is security unlocked before installing a new radio !!
Also, maybe something in this thread will help you...

Thanx for your quick reply. I was thinking along the same lines, but I installed HardSPL just fine and flashed to the PDA corner ROM with no problem, the problem arose when I figured out that the radio was causing the phone to have no sound and wanted to update it..which of course did not work. Right now I am trying the stock ROM with the same radio to see if it will allow me to flash it...

That's why I'm thinking you may have flashed a 'Radio from Hell' which is preventing any further ROM updates. Maybe something in the RFH thread I linked to can help...
Good luck!
Ok, this is a radio from hell, i found some information on it stating that when it is used with any other ROM, sound will not function. Now I am trying to revert back to the orignial ROM but I have a new problem, I cannot find the original rom for this phone (AT&T aku 0.4.4 build 18128 radio 1.27.14.09) in working condition. There is only one link to it and the file is corrupted(rapidshare). is there anyone with this operating system that could send me a link that is NOT the one posted on XDA: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341886). Thanx to drtolson, and thanx in advance to anyone else who is brave enough to get involved.
(Drtolson, I want to try the techniques on the post you sent a link to, but it states that the steps only work with that particular radio and others have not had any success using it with any other radios.)

Ok, i re-downloaded the file and it worked and also successfully flashed back to the original ROM, I probably won't be able to flash it to another custom ROM but at least the sound is working and the phone is fully functional. THANX TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP!

error 270, need some help from the experts

I have a Tilt that has been security unlocked, currently using Hard spl 3.56.
I have been having issues flashing certain ROMs, a few of them are Garmin's DK10 Final, Anryl's 21232, and some others.
Regardless if I flash using USB or SD Card certain ROMs will error out. If I'm using windows to flash I get the error 270, which is not in the wiki. Also this happens after it shows a complete load of the rom at the point where the phone reboots. If I flash from SD Card it will get better than 80% then error out with a code of 00018003.
Now this does not happen on all roms, for instance I can flash DK8 Final and Anryls 21222 rom with success just as an example.
What I've done, today I went so far as to flash the radio from hell (even though I doubt I needed to so that I can follow the recovery guide again (I was stuck with the radio from hell for a while when I flashed the AT&T rom that included it and used the guide to recover from it and in the process Security Unlock my Tilt) so I could format my entire device.
I have tried different versions of Hard SPL, Different radios, downloaded the suspect roms several times on several computers at home and work with the same results.
MTTY shows no issue with the NAND that I could find.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

error 270
Upgrade error number 270 means that the bootloader is not correct for the rom you are trying to flash, have you installed Hard SPL 1.20 (or a later version) to your device before attempting to upgrade, and could you tell me which rom you are trying to flash to your device?

Garmin's DK10 Final, Anryl's 21232 and as stated I've tried several versions of HardSPL, was using 3.56 I have tried 3.34 which is the one Anryl states he is using. Same issue.
I would recommend cmonex (.hard2) 3.31 Hard SPL nostuckinSPL Force USB as I have flashed all the roms you listed with this, with out any problems, have you also tried to flash a stock rom first I know this approach is old school but still worth a try

Help! Wrong radio!!

Alright, so I've had an htc sensation running on leedroid 3.10 for quite some time now. Recently it started to restart randomly, so I decided to upgrade my rom. So then I attempted to install insertcoin ICS, but I needed a new radio. So I chose one figuring it would work and now my device doesn't connect to internet or even my data. Whenever I try to install a different radio now to attampt fixing it, it says I have the wrong CID! I NEED my phone to work soon because i have a lot of important things to do that involve it!! Thanks for all help and please respond soon! FYI it says my radio is 10.11.9007.06_M2. Should I maybe reflash the hboot?
EDIT: And in case you're wondering, I've been searching for the solution for hours. I've never been more afraid of anything not working than this phone, and I can't afford a new phone, so please help!
First, you need to be superCid in order to install any radio without issue, Have a look in this post, Step 4
After that, you need to install corresponding firmware before flashing ICS rom. read this Thread

Hi,
10.11.9007.06_M2 is a few steps backwards/downwards on the radio ladder.
You can see the order HERE
What is your actual plan?
Do you want ICS?
If you want ICS ,you either need Super CID,or look at THIS POST
Right now there are 2 ICS bases:
3.12.....Sense 3.5
3.24.....Sense 3.6
When you install the appropriate firmware for either ROM,it will have the new radio inside the PG58IMG.zip
A good thread to follow is HERE
If you are not confident about upgrading to ICS,you could just flash the radio:
10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
and carry on with GingerBread.
