Auto Lock on stand-by - Touch Pro2 CDMA

I am using windows 6.5 which has this 'iphone' type slide to unlock, but it only goes on if i lock it through the start menu. On my stock telus rom it auto locked and had you tap 'unlock' and confirm, which was annoying but turns out useful. In my pocket my phone now seems to like to call people and take pictures, so I'm forced to lock it, which is fine, but i wish it would auto lock everytime i put it into standby, is there a way to do this, but not the pin # lock, the slide the bar lock screen?

There is a setting in the S2U2 that will enable the lock when the backlight goes off... also you can edit the registry so that the autolock will come up like it did on 6.1.

I assume you like the wm6.5 automatic lock when suspend. If that is the case download smart lock
http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/06...-of-your-default-windows-mobile-6-5-lock.html
and set the setting wm6.5 lock and and suspend lock. after configured, hold end key for 10 seconds to activate it first time.

I installed the cab, but i dont see the application anywhere, its not in my list of apps, nor can i find it through file explorer...any help?

If you installed Smart Lock it will show up in Settings>System>Smart Lock. I know took me a while before I figured that one.

i got it. but it never does anything...

goto the registry and change DeviceLockWhenSuspend to 1... that will enable the windows lock when you press the button at the top of the phone.
It is located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
Make sure your reset your phone after you make the change.

sorry, I'm new to WinMo, what's a program I can use to edit my registry

Resco file explorer has a great reg editor!

Hi AstronusX
Do you know where else smartlock can be downloaded from, mirrors perhaps?
The link posted wont allow me to download for some reason.

I got smartlock also and edited the registry settings but still nothing happens. Any ideas?

Map the top key to launch DeviceLock.exe in the Windows folder using this program:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240
It will still retain the screen shutoff function, but will also activate the lock.

It's BUILT in ....
Start/ParametersSecurity/Lock
You have to choose how long (60 sec etc) and a code pin to lock .
BUT
I believe there is another option to lock automatically without a pin code.
Simply hold the red button and your phone will be locked.

OK
You're right Kevin, I've searched for an auto lock program.
I've tried the Maniac tools. It's TOTALLY perfect. I like a lot the custom screen saver function.
Many thanks for your hint !
I use smart toolkit from e-native
http://www.e-natives.web.id/
it's free but does more than just auto lock...you can cut and paste several items, adds a task manager bar, lets you take screen shots, it's really cool, but at first it's not very easy to use...however, now I absolutely love it
LS
batterystatus plug in
...I use this mainly to do dynamic overclocking on my Wizard, but it has the option for "device lock on wakeup". when I've finished with my phone, I turn the display off and I'm good to go. Not quite an autokeylock but in use I prefer it...

password/pin lock by power button

is there any way to password lock the phone by pressing power button? maybe registry settings, application, or other way? if some1 can explain how, it'll be really great.
tray icon application will be fine too.
If you enable the password feature, and set the time-out to 0, it should ask for a password every time you turn it on.
no, its not suits me, i have 2 minutes phone turn off setting, and i dont want phone to be locked in 2 minutes. all i need is to lock it with power button and auto lock set to 15 minutes.

Try this:
Kai's Device PIN on/off 1.2
Application Description
Do you protect your device with a password? Then you need this program. Assign it to a button and switch the device PIN comfortably on an off.
User-friendly in 3 steps explained
Deposit (save) the password (encrypted)
Recall by hardwarebutton: ON/OFF of device PIN (without new entering)
Example of use:
You were the hole day away on business and your device PIN is activated. When you get home and you do not want to enter always the device PIN . With this progam you can switch off the PIN easily and quick. On the next day, when you got to work, activate the PIN comfortably by a keystroke without reentering the PIN.
System requirements:
System: Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003, 2003 SE, WM 5, WM 6
Screen: 240x320 Pixel or higher
Processors: Samsung, Intel® PXA XScale, StrongARM, OMAP
Its cheap, less than $5.
If it does not power the device off you could use mortscript to run this .exe & a power off .exe & map a script link to a button or an icon or voice command.
Hope this helps.

This program would meet your requirements by having a tray icon or launcher icon.
Mapping it to the power button may not be possible but it could be mapped to any other button if wanted.
This is the only password auto locking software using the standard device lock available.
Your only other option is to create a password on/off MortScript to run Settings/Password and auto input your 4 digit code, tick the required boxes & then run a device off.exe, done this on my old Magician a few years back., works well but its a bit crude compared to Kia's software.
i've download similar application(PSShut XP), but this app doing same as u describe, its runs settings\password lock, and then password promt appears, and u can simply click menue\cancel ). maybe this was working in windows 2003 or wm5, but im using wm6. only thing i've found for that case is vb function SHDeviceLockAndPrompt(), and i need to download SDK and compile an .exe, but im looking easier solution for that problem
clarification
I believe I am also looking for the same functionality:
-scenario: you power off the phone via hardware button and put it in your pocket. In your poocket, the button is pressed accidentally, and because the password lock has not yet auto-activated, the screen is active and you accidentally call your boss, or a total stranger
If this is your scenario, there is a 'screen saver' called MortSaver that can prevent this situation: it requires you to press a 2nd hardware button (user defined) to fully close the screensaver. unfortunately it will not instantly enable the password lock.
this does seem like nothing more than a simple api call, but i would be surprised if there isnt an .exe somewhere to do it aready. will have a look around.

I know S2U2, but it's "too big" for my artemis! I'm looking for a small tool. And I want the device locked securely. Slide is not enough.

S2U2 has a PIN lock, but yes it is a tad on the big side.

Key Lock With Power Button

When I had the Romeos 1.40.1 ROM I had setup my phone (Using advanced config and perhaps a registry tweak, I can't remember) to lock itself when I press the power button.
Now with the proven ROM 1.0.4 my phone doesn't lock at all. The power button just turns the screen off, and when I press it again it just shows my password lock, not the actual device keylock which I want. Also, sometimes after I unlock the password lock, the backlight is still dimmed until I lock and unlock the phone again.
Perhaps it's because the ROM has advanced config and Diamond Tweak.
My question is, how can I get it working so when I press the power button, the device is keylocked, and after a timer of say, 30 seconds, the device is auto keylocked. I know I did this without some special software such as S2U2 or PocketShield. I want it setup how I had it before without that.
Regards
Apply the tweak again?
Keylocking is really problematic with TP. I've tried Sensorlock, Pocketshield but software keylockers get slow sometimes, especially when I am recieving a call. This makes no sense because using a PocketPC as a phone is preferable option . So I'd also prefer original keylocker but it locks always during a call so I dont get instant access to calendar which is my main goal of using a smart phone btw...

Screen tap after lock... missing?

I am looking for an option whereby one can tap the screen to wake up device after lock. I tried to look for this setting but it isn't anywhere in the settings, its only for the hardware keys. Since I am using S2U2 I thought this would be useful, but the only way seems to be using the power button, anyway of using the tap on the screen to bring up the S2U2 interface? Thanks in advance.
I've got a different oppnion of usefulness in this case... I'd hate the thought of the PDA activating in my pocket waiting for me to unlock it, the screen always on is a miniature black hole for the battery...
I don't think there's a feature that would enable this, or any 3rd party program that would help you do this... but then again maybe I'm worng...
I agree with you, the only reason that prompted me to look for this option was because I installed S2U2. Now when I want to unlock device I have to switch on power before I use S2U2, whereas it would have been more convenient if I were to only tap the screen and the power turned on. Anyway S2U2 has an option to power down which can be set for seconds, there by saving battery power too. Strangely this option was there when I was using the XDA Wizard on WM 5. Maybe they removed it in WM 6?
Sorry, I don't know about that, I've never used S2U2 before, and I never will because when I want access to my PDA then I want it now, without any delays... but even if it has a power down option it wont help if its the pocket of my jeans...

HTC Touch Pro 2 Locking slider CAB

Does anyone have a CAB to automatically put a slider lock to keep from phone butt dialing people in its case? I do not want to use the device lock with the passwords .....
Please help!

HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDeviceLockEnable-----------> set to 1
Where do i find that?
I am learning slowly
use a registry editor, like total commander.
either that or you can install S2U2 http://ac-s2.com/. click on S2U2, and download the VGA/WVGA cab and install on your phone. it's just like the unlock system on the iPhone

Doesn't work on my TP2
Edit: Ok, if I set a PIN it works - but then I have to slide first and enter the PIN each time I turn on the phone.
Screen Lock
This is something highly desirable to me too, on Touch Pro 2.
I tried a couple locking programs (2EasyLock & Pocket Shield). I didn't like 2Easy. PocketShield worked well with WM6.1 but problematic with WM6.5. I did not pay for either tools so not going to complain to customer support.
I found another Reg entry, LockScreen but after changing it, there was no change to lock. Even after soft reset (shut down, boot), which in this case, the entry went back to 0. I'm not sure what this entry is for or the exact options, but I tried 1/0.
