HTC has announced that Hero will include multitouch support. Since much of their Sense UI is hacked onto Android, this makes me wonder:
Are they exposing an actual multitouch API for Android developers, or are they overloading an unused property (e.g. MotionEvent.size) like Luke Hatch's homebrew multitouch does?
idk
but whatever htc did ..it looks awsome..the ui on hero when its full speed is soo stunning and the mutlitouch is so smooth
Is "full speed" acheivable on a Magic?
Do you guys think its possible to port the rom over to magic? and get the upgraded UI?
Thanks
there is a port
from nk02 but its a little buggy and alot of the features are missing but htc said theyre gonna make the updates available to htc devices running android..so if you plan on getting that samsung youre sol if you want rosie..that is until the brilliant minds here port it

Some magics (vodafone branded ones) have less RAM than the hero.
HTC's CEO stated that they're going to slap the sense UI on an existing HTC, which will probably be the sapphire
actually if you flash the nk02 hero rom
it has multitouch
HTC has announced that the sense UI WON'T be avaliable to t-mobile and vodafone users since the whole google issue they have, they didnt say anything about the "other" htc branded phones like rogers but m assuming updates will be avaliable to those.

Once the Hero is out, we'll have it on our device.. no needs to wait for "official" HTC releases for the Google's branded phones, this is XDA-developers!
I cant help but feel that I have been somewhat cheated by Vodafone for the less ram issue, they pulled a fast one on us. If this is what stands between me and the new Sense UI, then i can tell you that we have not only been robbed by Vodafone but by HTC as well. With the money I spent on this phone, the new Ui is the least they can do.

I'm sure this is in the wrong place, but it does have a lot to do with the Hero ROM porting that's goign on here. HTC Brazil's website is showing off the Magic with Sense. Anyone come across this built yet? I'm sure it will work a lot better than Hero ROM ports since it's official from HTC! http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=732&Itemid=51
Great news!!! Thanks for that Nick.... really looking forward to the official release
Damn i was hoping the brazillian magic phone had our low ram. Would this really change anything?
salivating... hope it can be made into a suitable rom for 32a soon

We are just waiting for a Brazilian person to extract it and we can have it too (I think so).. I was reading it and there's good and bad news!!!
Good:
Is really the 1st HTC Sense Ui officially on a Magic!
Bad:
All stores from the Brazilian market listed on the HTC website from the link there, hasn't the equipment available and only the TIM network are promoting the Android phone and asking for filling a form for a pre-release/information (I didn't feel it) about an Android phone (I think it can be the Magic).
soooo.. any brazilians got it !! if not HURRY THE F UP!

I doubt it~! I didn't see for sale it yet on any of the authorized HCT Brazilian shop!! We will have to wait, maybe the release date is the same that our so WANTED update will be released!
that sucks.. so does anyone have a magic with a hero rom that is fast.. and you are satisified with it?
I will not be satisfied till our ui is up to speed with the ones in iphone..
I can get nooo..

I'm not sure any Andrid UI will ever be as fast as the iPhone. The iPhone UI is only an icon list and that's pretty much it. We'll need a Snapgragon powered Android phone from HTC to acheive a no-lag Sense experience.
i am excited about this. having a native sense ui made specifically for the magic is good news and hopefully will improve performance since we dont have to port from the hero to the g1 to the magic. once it's released we just need one of the devs to root it for us haha then we can install like a normal rom, i think, right? i dont want to lose root to install this.

HTC will release the Magic in Brazil only in the 2nd half of October. And IIRC TIM Brasil will launch BOTH the Magic and the Samsung Galaxy.

Since HTC controls this.. it sounds like it will be as well the time as well that we will have our so DESIRED HTC Sense UI updates! But, anyway we'll see..
Hope that I'm wrong in the good way (that they release first the update, since is already made)! One month to go..
midway october is still 3 weeks away , hope someone get a piece before hand and can make a dump and put it up for people to breakdown.
can't wait ! Singapore's one is releasing on Nov, one month later of wait

nativ or not. the problem is the same...
the htc magic in brasil is using 288 mb of ram.
its good for the 32a users but 32b has the same problem as now
even tho it has 288 mb ram , it will still be a better port of Sense as compared to the current one which is of a whole different model , so this would have lesser bugs and im sure with some swap in place it would be pretty snappy for those who have the 32B as well
The main benefit I see from this is that the LED and Bluetooth issues should finally be resolved.

Ok so i have some dirty time with the new fender mt3g.
heres what i pulled off it so far

nice..a 32A set..i assume this will be bumped to 2.1 or 2.0.1 by t-mo in a few months. this way we all can upgrade to android 2.x without having sense ui..i like this..
does this run the sense ui?
I notice it runs donut, an official donut+sense would be awesome.

no sense ui. This is basically an upgraded MT3G. So it is still a google experiance phone, therefore no HTC customizations on it.
which is even better
the only thing that is upgraded is the new 3.5 headphone jack and the paint...other than that, same freaking phone.

Well for us in the us its a little different. More ram and more onboard memory. Also comes with a snazzy 16gb card. Class 2 though.
I have to give it back today. So is there anything anybody needs off this bad boy?
Did you notice if it had a different music player???
Like you pointed out this myTouch has the 32A board vs. the 32B board in the other myTouch devices and therefore has more memory on-board in addition to the 16GB microSD card and 3.5mm jack.
It also comes preloaded with more music.
I think T-Mobile would be in a strange situation should the Fender myTouch get the 2.1 upgrade and the regular myTouch not get it. People will complain either way I guess until finally you must leave behind the old at some point and cut off upgrades.
Yeah it has a new music player and a bunch of fender sponsored music.

It might not have Sense UI.
But once the devs here get their hands on the Rogers HTC Magic dump of Android 2.1 + Sense UI you will be able to load it up onto this phone.
With a bit of work I'm assuming since it will probably be shipped with a perfected SPL (I'm guessing 0013 is a perfected SPL)

How is it better? =[ Sense UI is awesome!
Would the gold card method work to root this sucker? I think the "1.2" mytouch will have this hardware, so there should be a few of these floating around. would existing roms work on this or would they slight modification to work with different hardware (3.5mm headset Jack)?
music player
does somebody have the music player from the fender mt3g?
The fender mytouch music player app looks just like RockOn.
RockOn is open source so they just might have played with it...
At least it's inspired by RockOn music player
Thanks for the info. I will try it.
Its the HTC music app, possibly the same one on heros?
So this is a 32A with 288MB of RAM, and a 2.22 Radio version...
Does anyone if it's possiblve to get the radio.img from this device?
Reason I'm asking is that I think that if this radio could be used on a 32A, then it would allow the entire 288MB of RAM to be presented to the OS and still run 32B(ish) ROMs...
Any information would be great.
Thanks,

Thats so dumb of tmo to make the MT3G have 192 while Fender has 288..I would feel cheated if i got the Mt3G with less ram. But average consumer wouldnt know the diff.
That is B.S.
So HTC shouldn't make improvements to their hardware because early adopters might be upset? I don't get that rationale. Isn't that the way the technology ball rolls?
Anyhow, let's get back to rooting this sucker (also keep in mind future MT3G/Magic will likely have the same hardware, minus the guitar shell and preloaded music apps).
I wonder if an engineering SPL (1.33.2005+) would work? Would current 32A roms jive ok with the different radio this thing has? Safe to assume ROMs would need some modifications to accommodate the 3.5mm headset jack?
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
dont know if this is useful to us or not....
why is that an .exe file?
Yea, I also don't believe this is much use to us with the Desire ROM being out. Sense 2.1, is always Sense 2.1, unless Sprint made some modifications.

HTC phones on sprint(that I know of) use EXE files to install or update a rom its an app that puts the phone in bootloader mode to flash the device. looks fishy but its legit.
Both 2.1 update for the samsung moment and HTC Hero were EXE files not .img files
I could careless about sprint. I hate them
Doesn't this ROM include 720p video recording?
If they can port this over to HD2 I might have to say good bye to my N1.

why would you want this on an hd2? the evo is a better phone, just go get it instead.
The format looks similar the windows mobile updates.

Now if anyone extracts 720p video recording and wifi access point tethering app (although the latter is probably sprint only) That'd be sweet.

I have both and I will say Android on the HD2 would rival the NExus One nicely.
my tmobile rep said the name "supersonic" was dropped at one of his conference calls. I would wait for an Evo-like device to drop on a GSM sometime soon (T-mobile).
Come on guys...stop talking stupid crap. I've been hunting the forums trying to figure out if an android cook is coming for hd2, and all i keep seeing are you so-called 'experts' saying things like:
"why would you want android on hd2, buy such-and such"
"wait for the next GSM phone from Tmo"
Well, WHAT THE HELL MAN? Where's the pioneering spirit of the developers I know and love?? Where's the desire to rise to the challenge of porting to a WinMo phone??
There are many T Mobile customers out there who are being offered a good upgrade discount to get an HD2. Why would we all just abandon that and run off to get an unlocked whatever for $500??? Shut up on that please...
Second, no one's waiting for the next anything. What's the point of waiting? No matter what phone you get, it'll be obsolete in 12 months anyway...
SO SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE GET CRACKIN ON AN ANDROID ROM FOR HD2!!!!!!!! Many HD2 owners have already said we'll pay for it...someone will make some money...
And someone in here PLEASE put up a LINK to anything about HD2 android stuff...
geez, XDA is going to the dogs ...seriously though, it was never this hard to get help when the G1 came out (and spare me the obvious "G1 was made for Android" drivel)...

Hey i have a question.. is the new sense 3.5 coming too for the HTC Sensation?
As it's aimed at lesser powered devices I'd say no but you never know
Surely it must work, I wish I knew how to resize the files from the new DHD rom and try to port it over.
Yeah, just seen the DHD Bliss-based ROM. Ideally we'd need to wait for another qHD device to be released to get it. Or that new 4.5"-screened HTC Android phone announced recently (like the Titan)

maybe the revamped sensation will have it, but it wont really matter to me because i like senseless better
It is, but I'm sure I've heard there's gonna be another Android handset the same size. Could be wrong, mind
EDIT: The Holiday is 4.5" but leaks so far show Sense 3.0
The only thing I'm interested from in Sense 3.5 is the new Notes widget. That looks slick.
of course it will come out
Yeah, I'm sure it will come out, we have an excelent development team here
Most likely
What files would er need to port and how do you resize them to fit sensation ? I know that the HTC apks are needed but what other files are needed......libs etc?
