You'd need to update Morphgear etc so it can handle multitouch.

ok i understand, knows when all application will be ported to multitouch devices...

What is this keyboard ?

Hello everybody,
Today i was at the diamond section, and there is udk with a new Rom for the diamond.
Inthe set of screenshots there you can see a keypad with up,dom, left, right arrows. This seems very helpful to me.
Maybe anybody can tell me, what keyboard is it (think extracted from the new Touch HD).
Is anybody able to bring this wonderful Keypad to our TP´s?
What do you think helpful or not?

isn't that just a standard keyboard on all phones?

No. It's the Blackstone keyboard.
Besides you don't really want it. Since you already have the same size VGA keyboard, that is only different because the Blackstone doesn't have a d-pad so it has those arrow buttons. You wouldn't really want it, it wastes your space and the keys are smaller.
Maybe someone could be so kid and share the files, or a cab?
Thank you

API for detecting keyboard position for StylusLock

Stylus(BattC)lock 1.6 is working for Touch Diamond and Touch Pro. I would like to add the option to unlock, when the keyboard is openend, specially for the Touch Pro.
Anyone knowing the API or registry key for detecting this
I do not have myself a Touch Pro, so I cannot test myself. I think this would be another great addition to StylusLock.

No one
I do not have a Touch Pro, but I know the screen changes to landscape when the keyboard is slided out, so it must be programmatically detected.
The stylus position is stored in the registry:
HKCU/ControlPanel/Keybd/StylusOutStatus
Can someone check if the same sort of thing is done for the keyboard?
You can also save the registry with the keyboard slided in and slided out and compare the registry, to find the (maybe) registry key.
Hope someone can help me
Maybe it can be implemented into Gyrator. Try to suggest it in that forum (can be found under Useful links)

Did you ever figure this out? I'm trying to do the same thing in an unrelated app. Thanks.

Yes, it is a registry key:
HKLM\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Keypad\\IsSlideOut
Simple as that

[REQ][APP] Virtual D-Pad

I have a request for a clever developer.
The Touch Diamond 2 and Touch HD don’t have a D-Pad. They also have a screen resolution of 800 x 480.
Quite a few games I have tried only work up to 640 x 480. They also require a D-Pad.
Could a clever developer make a virtual D-Pad to emulate a real one that sits within the unused 160 x 480 pixels? I was thinking maybe 4 cursor keys Left, Right, Up, Down and maybe two action keys.
Thoughts / Comments?
I need it too
Virtual D-Pad is a great idea. I tried looking for it but no success so far.
Use the g-sensor d-pad.
That’s an idea. I’ll ask the developer of G Pad if they would consider adding on screen buttons too. That way it can overcome some of the incompatibilities due to WVGA over the more standard VGA as well.
I had this idea also. I was able to program my first WM6 Application (just a button and a textbox). The button emulate keyboard inputs. But I found no solution how to have this buttons alle time in front. Meaning when I start another application it hides my buttons...
Started a requet here, but nobody answered
So if there's somebody helpin me out with that, I would go on coding this Virtual D-Pad. Another problem will be, that you can use only one virtual button at the same time, as there is no multitouchdisplay

Captivate - No D-Pad

Hi All,
I'm looking at getting the Captivate as my first Android phone. I noticed that it doesn't have a D-Pad like the original Galaxy S or a trackball. Is that going to be a problem? Is Android still usable without it?
Thanks for the help,
Josh
The Galaxy S does not have an optical d pad/track pad. It is just a big square button
Swype an and samsung keyboard have directional buttons. No real need for physical ones I can see so far.

emulators?
With the 4 inch screen, I suspect emulators and other games requiring a D-Pad could fit a virtual one at the bottom of the screen. Perhaps a virtual trackpad would work too? A little circle that you swipe your finger over and it acts like an optical trackpad?
For the short while that I had an EVO 4G, I never did think about a D-pad. Before the EVO I had a Samsung Epix and I used the optical pad as D-pad and I was very used to using it in that configuration. The EVO was my first android phone and all of the menus are easily accessible with finger swipes and touches. I did not miss the D-pad at all.
I'll definitely pick up the Captivate. The android experience is so much better than wm6.x.

Some ROMs don't have dpad enabled keyboards, the TrueDvorak Pro keyboard has a nice gesture based dpad. Multilingual keyboard also has a press and hold to access dpad option, like the samsung one.

What press-n-hold Samsung d-pad? I hate the Samsung keyboard but I do need a d-pad sometimes and I don't want to install a third party keyboard (I usually install Full Keyboard though, it has one).

What does that have to do with the Captivate and why did you resurrect an almost year old thread to say it?
Welcome to pretty much all samsung android phones. If you need a d-pad or trackball look elsewhere.
Though most high end HTC, LG and Motos dont have them either.

NOVA

Everybody knows nova from gameloft as it is one of the best android games but I have a question, is there any 3d party software/hack anything to map the keys to physical buttons? I am only interested in the fire button mapped to the camera key on a Motorola Milestone. This would make the game a lot better. Thank you in advance
It should be possible yes, i dont know how much work it would need though
Never knew N.O.V.A was on Android.
Must check it out
I do think that they should add physical button support.
Problem if it comes with Mapping done it would need to be user mapping because of the array of android devices with differet buttons in different places

True, but it could just be as easy as the other apps on the market that enable user-customizable key-mapping. I have a Galaxy S line phone, so no physical keyboard. But coming from an HTC Fuze, I can see why this would be handy
Gameloft
I sent an email to the gameloft team suggesting that this feature should be added. I hope we can all enjoy this feature for their games.
