I'm looking for a .apk Manager.
Not for one on my phone, or to organize the apps on my phone.
What I'm looking for is a Windows application, Win7 64bit compatible, that will organize my 4.7gb worth of .apk's i have on my computer. Ideally, automatically detecting version numbers, and removing old versions of the same app etc.
Good idea, I just use appbrain on my phone.
ps: change the title to [REQ] as there is no app in here.
Sounds like someone had fun downloading a lot of apps?

Ahh yes, i should have had it [REQ] vs [APP], you are right. I cannot find a way to change the thread title tho, or i would happily.

<smirk> links are not allowed on here for that sort of thing, but sufficed to say, i use two websites to <cough> obtain <cough> my apps.
Of that 4.7gb of .apk's I'm sure at least 30-40% of that (hell quite possibly more) is outdated versions. Just too much hassle to manually sort through them all.

I can't really find an appropriate forum for this question, so I'll leave it here, hoping that moderators will move it to a more appropriate place if it does exists.
When I log on to Google Play some applications will not be available to me due to geographical restrictions. But in my world electrons knows no national borders. I have tried logging on through VPN (and I do find more apps that way) but Google obviously have my devices pegged down to my current country. I have even reset my device to factory, established VPN and created a new Google account through the VPN connection, in the fervent hope of getting access to some apps that I desire. Still no dice.
Is there any method that will enable me to get hold of those apps? Is there a mirrored site? Anyone that has any kind of suggestion is welcome with input, because I'm at my wits end.

you appear to be from a horribly dangerous country, so I am not sure if I should help you.... I don't know of a way to get around that type of block, but if you can get the .apk file downloaded then you can install it by tapping it in ES explorer if you have the "unknown applications" option checked in your security settings for most ICS roms.

This.....
My suspicion is that the VPN your using is based somewhere that still has restrictions in place, therefore you may well be seeing more apps yet some are still missing... maybe...
Try the suggestions above though, much less hassle....
And by the way, this is Off Topic, your question is very much on topic. You couldn't have picked a worse place to post if you had tried.
Unless your trolling us... In which case, good job. :highfive:
I couldn't find a sub-forum that dealt specific with Google Play. Can I assume that Market Enabler is available through Google Play?

That did look like the real deal, unfortunately it wouldn't let me download.
After several tries it did download.
Yes, it has potential, but there are still restrictions activated. Unless you can spoof deviceID and SON I doubt that you can access apps set up with restrictions (and I'm not talking about paid apps here), just restricted to carrier or country.

Good afternoon dear forum dwellers,
I find my self facing a very steep obstacle related to an application. My agricultural family requires the application in order to conduct normal work. The issue i am faced with is two fold. I am unable to download/install the application due to either region restriction or phone restriction.
The notorious application is this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yara.checkit
So i request the aid and wisdom of those of you that possess far greater abilities than i, in solving this perhaps simple conundrum. My request is the following: Would it be possible for someone to download that application and sub sequentially sent me the .APK file of it so that i may install it manually. Alternatively i am open to any and all suggestions regarding the resolution of the above issue.
Thank you for your time, and i apologies if this post is not in the correct section of the forum,
Humbly yours,
Shallowmist
(PS: I have contacted the application developer regarding the same resolution i have suggested, unfortunetly the support was.... How should i put this? The support leaves a'lot to be desired.)

i might be, other users upload it, if theres lots be careful what you get because people are bums and they could load it up with Ads or a survey you must do to unlock the app. so you said you talked to the app developer? why not ask him for a apk file?

I did ask them for the apk file they had no idea wtf i was talking about. I got 2 women one on the regular support line one on the "computer service desk" they seemed very surprised anyone was calling them at all, and neither wanted to help. So i don't think the support is going to be the way to go for this.

Thank you kindly for the tip, i shall try it out.
I am new to the app scene. I was curious if there was a way to store apps locally, without the need of sales/Play Store/Amazon Store/etc.
I am just looking at storing it locally on a phone, or possibly a tablet, to show to potential clients. And also for portfolio purposes, down the road.
Again, I am a self-professed "noob", so all help is appreciated.
Thank you.

unless it is your personal app, you will need to get it from one of the stores at some point.
some apps can be downloaded by other means, but that is highly frowned upon, and against the rules to even discuss here (so please dont comment back on it).
if your device is rooted, you could use an app like titanium to make a backup of all the apps. then they would be saved locally, but i dont know how compatible that backup would be if you tried to restore it on other devices.
i would think if its a paid app, there is likely some entitlement verification coded into the app. so if it cant verify through one of the stores, it likely wont work properly if at all.
It would be apps that I build. So it would be for my own personal use. Like I said, it's to show potential clients. I would be using it to show how an app works, as a display to the client.
It will be my work. And it will be strictly for my clients.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks.

once you install an app on any device, from any source, you can use
1.apk extractor
2.es file explorer
to have the apk file, which can then be run on other devices as an installer.
or, you could dowbnload the apk straight from google play, search how with the search button.
Ok help me understand this.
It will be your app. One you make for your clients. which would mean your doing all the coding and building of the app, But you dont know how to store a simple apk on your device?

Yea, that was kind of confusing me too.
If you build the app, you can store and show it on any device its compatible.
I must be missing the issue here.

Yeah, like I said, I am completely new to this. I haven't even developed an app yet. I just wanted to visually, in my head, figure out how to display it to clients. I have clients. It's just a matter of developing apps, as far as coding.
I'm sorry if my questions are either dumb or easily answered. Thanks for all the help, though.

OK man then you are getting way ahead of yourself. First your gonna need to learn a few programing languages. Like Java and C+. Hell I would even start by reading these forums for a while as you seem like you really have no idea what your getting into.

Evening all,
Just a quick question, do any of you use anti virus software for your phones? If so which one?
Running
Your finger works as a great anti virus, here's how to use it, when you download that modded candycrush.apk file from cheatersRus.com and you're asked if you want to install this apk file, select NO. There no virus, 100% guaranteed to work.

So true...
Antivirus apps on a phone are so unnecessary and ends up hurting your experience with your device instead of improving your experience.
Just a bit of common sense goes a LONG way folks...
I don't. I used to run 360 for ram clears and storage cleans, specifically the little widget was nice, antivirus was there but meh. Now that you can use stock ram/storage cleaner + it has a widget. So goodbye 360 for me.
That said, I don't really download any apks unless they are listed here on xda.

Amen, brother, amen. I get so many friends of mine asking me "why is my phone so slow" and I look at it and they've got 9billion games and 4000 tabs open and facebook messenger (anyone running facebook deserves what they get, sorry, i consider facebook stupid to begin with but honestly, no, YOU DON'T HAVE TO OVERSHARE THAT YOU WENT POOP FIVE MINUTES AGO And, NO, your baby IS really ugly, stop posting so many damn pictures of it). I just happily go ahead and delete about 80-90% of the crap they put on their devices and voila, they're "amazed" that it's "faster" no, it's just not as bloated.

Ok ?
I don't download anything unless it's in the play store or here.
I only asked as I was fiddling with the settings on my phone and one of the options for anti virus.
Running
Currently, I'm using Bitdefender and Disconnect Pro.
Disconnect Pro should suffice just fine. Not really an antivirus, but it will prevent ads from popping up (probably the best ad block I can think of without root).
Go to device maintenance, security, and accept the notification that appears.
Intel Security will now actively secure your device. (No need for any AV from the playstore.)
Now, you can use AdHell or DisconnectPro to enable system-wide ad-blocking using the Knox firewall without root. This should avoid most crapware.
Do not download/install anything that prompts you to enable installation from Unknown Sources.
You're now secure.

If you didn't know some malware/viruses are on play store that isn't detected by Google. Can't remember if it was recently but 2 million handsets where infected because of apps on play store especially the dodgy ones

Go to settings -> apps -> click the 3 dot menu and click show system apps -> click Device Maintenance.
Clear the data of the device maintenance app.

I'm REALLY confused, you even write, "especially the dodgy ones" yet, WHY would you download the "dodgy" ones? WHY?
It's sort of like, "Don't stick your hand in the woodchipper" You come running a half-hour later and have no hand screaming, "I stuck my hand in the wood chipper". Well, yeah.

Anti virus apps on mobile systems are useless and pointless. They will never detecty anything on android as the malware on android is not made like PC software nor does it act like it.
The biggest cause for slow devices I find are people being lazy and having tons of folders on their home screen with tons of apps in them. Doing this will slow your system down. Also filling more then 50% device storage will also slow the device down.
