I do not know why, but when I connect Raphael via USB menu with different connection methods (ActiveSync, Drive, Internet Sharing) is not diplayed anymore. I don't recall installing anything weird or changing any settings. Just to ensure you all that the "Ask for the connection type" option is "Enabled".
Without this one, I can't use the phone as a modem!!!
I had the same problem and, even though the option is enabled in settings, I had to go into the registry, turn it "off" (set the disable bit to 1) and turn it back on again (set it to "0") before the popup came back. The keys are in HKLM\Software\OEM\USBtoPC
Or go to,
Start > Settings > System > USB Settings and check "Ask me first about USB connection..."
Or go to,
Start > Settings > System > USB Settings and check "Ask me first about USB connection..."

I'm pretty sure that's what they meant by this:

Which is why I offered a "next step" solution.

Thanks for your reply.
But I still can't get it to work properly. My settings are as follows:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've tried to change the settings of "DisablePopUpUI" to "1" then restart, set it back to "0" and restart again, but with no luck

Hate to bump an old thread, but hyachts' solution worked for me (using Total Commander).
What did you do exactly? which keys did you change and what are all of them now?(considering the menu does popup now)

I've owned 2 Chinese cheap Android devices now and both gave me a problem, so I am going to go out on a limb and say I'm not the only one. In fact I lie, I know I'm not the only one it plagues. The problem I get is that I don't get a data signal, I can make and receive calls and send and receive messages, It's just the data. Does this sound familiar to you? I searched high and low, through pages and pages of various language forums. So I've written this post to bring all my hours of searching together. The problem originates with my network. I'm in the UK and on Vodafone. They seem to be the only carrier in the UK that block the IMEI's that aren't the normal numbers, for example my UK devices all start with 35, but my Chinese devices start with 86. That's the problem.
There is 2 parts to my fix but you might not have to do both. Start with the first and see how you get on.
Fix 1
Go to settings > more... > Mobile Networks > then select the APN you are using, scroll down to the bottom and select Authentication, then select none. Make sure you save the APN. It might take effect pretty much immediately, but probably best to reboot.
Fix 2
This is a little harder but not to bad. Start by downloading an app from the market called Mobile Uncle. Once installed select IMEI backup. This will help if you incase you want/need to restore it.
Next select Engineer Mode > Engineer Mode (MTK) > scroll right to connectivity > CDS Information > Radio Information > Phone 1.

Click on the 'AT+' box to pull up the keyboard. Delete the + and it will show you some options click on 'AT+EGMR=1,7" ".
(I don't know how you choose your new IMEI, I never go that far into looking. I just chose a number from a device I don't use)
Type your new IMEI in between the speech marks and press SEND AT COMMAND. Wait a moment for confirmation then reboot your phone. If you want to need/want to do this for sim 2 then do the same process except when you select AT+, select AT+EGMR=1,10" " instead.
Fingers crossed your problems should be solved.
Hey, before the ota rolled out I used the phone for 2 minutes, and at that time w when I pushed the left/menu button the launcher settings popped up. But there was also the settings button. So I could enter settings (like WiFi. Users....) But after that update the button disappeared and changed with the designs button.
Is there any way to get the settings button back there?
Because the upper right corner is so far away for my thumb
Another question: can I get the "," on the keyboard instead of voice??
Thanks in advance !

Go into settings->buttons and there's options to set what the menu button will do. You can set the short press to menu and then long press to recent apps which was the default before the OTA.

I see what you mean. It's the same for me. Looks like they got rid of the settings options from that menu. I switched to nova launcher and didn't notice the changes to the stock one after the update. I can only suggest that you download a new launcher.
Anyone who is getting the Verizon variant of the pixel 3:
As soon as you get the device, take the SIM card out and turn the thing on
Don't bother setting up your account, don't connect to wifi, don't enable screen lock/pin/password/pattern/fingerprint during the Android 1st-time initialization
Right away go into setting, turn wifi on and connect to a wifi network (don't leave or close settings after this)
Then right away go to enable developer settings (still don't leave settings)
Got to developer options and see is OEM unlocking is not greyed out and enable it if it isn't!
As soon as it's enable, reboot to bootloader and issue bootloader unlock commands
If someone tries this and it works (or doesn't) leave a comment! I got the unlocked version so I can't test this.
Ill give it a shot tomorrow when i get mine

I received my Pixel 3 XL at lunch today and tried your instructions, however the OEM unlocking option is greyed out. I will post a picture. Thanks.

Nope. No luck here.
It was worth a try. Thank you guys for reporting back!
Hi OxygenOS gurus,
My OnePlus 8 (IN2013 currently running v10.5.12.IN21AA) is now starting to regularly throw up what to me appears Java exception crash overlays on the screen which I can't seem to clear until I reboot the phone.
In the example below, I wasn't even using the Google translate app and it just threw up the app process details so should I be reporting this & what's the best way?
I have already tried resetting all the app preferences from the settings menu & rebooted the phone (+volume down) to clear the data & cache but the issue still persists. Any further troubleshooting assistance would be greatly appreciated and is there a way to clear the process overlay without rebooting the phone?

Thanks Scott for your prompt reply.
I don't believe I've ever gone in & made any changes to the developer options so I've gone in and turned on the Developer options from the system menu and everything appears to be 'greyed' out except for:
Verify bytecode of debuggable apps
Wi-Fi scan throttling
Just in case something has been accidentally enabled, is there a way to reset all the developer options back to factory defaults?

Yes, if you turn Dev Options off it disables whatever was enabled. But that doesn't seem to be the issue for you because you just turned it on. I'm lost on this one.
The only thing I can think of is this... Did you go into the dial pad and enter any special codes? Like *#*#*# type codes? The other guess is you have some sort of debug app on your phone.

Hi Scott,
I think you may have helped me solve the mystery as sometime ago I downloaded the OnePlusLogKit to enable voLTE using the Function Switch. One of the four options available is "Red screen assertion" which in my case appears to be open. Since my only choice here is to either 'close the red screen' or 'clear red screen', I think this matches the following similar forum link I stumbled across:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/sudden-red-screen-with-commands.814845/
I'll monitor it over the next few days but thanks for your troubleshooting so far!
For some reason these "popup text bubbles" stays on screen for about 60sec(Don't know there name, so it's hard finding related search results).
They're supposed to go away way faster(~5-15sec?).
I can't find a way to revert it, so do any of you know whats going on?
This behavior has persisted on two phones(Both running android 11).
I've imported my settings using my google account to the new phone.

It is an accessibility setting, follow the page linked below to find the "Time to take action" setting and change the value to the preferred time you want.

Thank you sir, you're a savior!!!
Disable Bubble Notification On Android For Specific AppsStep 1. Grab your phone or tab (Android) and swipe down from the top of the screen once or twice.
Step 2. Tap on the Settings icon to open your device’s Settings menu.
Step 3. Now, scroll down until you find “Apps and Notifications.” Tap on it.
Step 4. Tap the message that says “See all X apps.” You will find icons of three apps installed on your device on top of the phone screen and this message under it. And ‘X’ is basically, the total number of apps you have on your device.
Step 5. From the list of apps, select the app for which you don’t want to use Bubbles.
Step 6. Then, in the app window, tap “Notifications” and then, select “Bubbles.”
Step 7. Next, tap on the button that says “Nothing can bubble.”
This will stop sending you a Bubble for every message you receive in that app.
Regards,
Willjoe
