Hi ppl,
I'm new here! I'm trying to develop a COM object to integrate printing capabilities in an existing application (Airix Smart Client from NextAir). When I build my dll and update remote files with an Ipaq, the ppc registers the dll. When i try it with a XDA or XDA-II it doesnt... Anybody knows why? Anybody has a working PPC 2003 COM sample?
Help please!!
most programming developer questions are ask'd and answerd in hacking it forum i would put my question there
programming problems
thank you guy
Hello, guys.
in short: i recieved a T-mobile MDA compact pocket pc as a gift. It has german windows installed and it's all i know about it..
problem is that i barely understand german
i want to upgrade to an english version and get info about this pocket pc (what is the ROM? software, hardware info), but in pocket pc's software i'm pretty newbie. i've tried to search through this forum for information and i've tried several manuals, but all instalations ends up with "please reconnect your pocket pc"
please post any threads, web manuals or anything, where can i find needed information . thanks in advance...
It sounds like you're on the right track - but go here for the full guide (for EXE ROMs only):
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade
And for the purposes of Windows Mobile PDAs, consider ROMs to be the 'operating system file', a file from which a version of Windows Mobile can be installed onto your PDA.
thanks looks like should work, i'll try it soon :]
Hi
I'm split between getting the motorola milestone/droid which has a qwerty keyboard (which i badly want), and between the htc hd2 which has the windows apps which i badly need.
I am kind of stuck now between which one to choose for my new phone. So was wondering
1) is windows mobile 6.5 on htc hd2 backwards compatible with the software from windows ppc and other version of windows mobile? (mainly because the apps i want are stuff like rosetta stone on ppc, reflex mentor on windows mobile, lingvosoft on ppc etc which are old)
2) does android o.s have similar software either already or in the pipeworks from anyones knowledge (i know iphoen has a few of these apps or similar already btu no idea about android)?
3) how easy is it to hack android (i know i can test and trial out a lot of these apps before i buy on windows due to the great internet, but can you also do it to android and iphone)?
Thanks to anyone who can help clarify this,
guess no one knows
Hi, Android has over 20,000 apps and counting. It's also open source & has been hacked a pleanty
Check out the "google market" for more info...
hi everyone
i want to programming c++ at HD2
I found in market a programm "esql" and it is for DB it very nice
but I need one for c++
can I find any program for this ??
You're not getting any responses because you've asked in the wrong section. There's a section dedicated to software development on the windows mobile platform...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=523
Anyway, try this...
http://www.microsoft.com/exPress/
It's a free version of Visual Studio and should be all you need to get into C++. You won't be able to use .Net with it, should you go down the C# route, as the free edition isn't compatible with the .Net SDKs that are available.
Good luck mate
can anyone help me? I've been looking for a dictionary app for the hd2 and haven't had any luck! ino there is tons for the iphone so just woundering if there is any for this, thanks.
I am using "Langenscheidt Dictionary for Windows Mobile".
But I guess it's only available in german...
Install Microsoft Reader and then download the free Encarta Pocket Dictionary. I have used it for ages with other Windows Mobile devices. Actually can read various books with pocket Microsoft Reader. Ed
Edit.... Not sure Microsoft Reader will work with 6.5.... It appears the available app is for wm 6.1 maybe you could try it for us and report back. Regards
There are lots of dictionary apps for windows mobile.
Have a look at following links :

As a matter of fact I do think that there are lots of really good softs for windows mobile and they definitely can compete with Iphone ... and without the need to jailbreak or hack your own phone to be able to customize it a little bit !
But it is also a fact that it is more difficult to find the softs as there is no softaware catalog that could compete with the centralized AppStore : you have to search with google with a lots of keywords : Pocket PC, wm5, wm6, wm6.1, wm6.5, windows mobile and so on ...
<OFF TOPIC>
Yet the biggest enemy of Window Mobile in the ability to compete with Iphone is from my point of view ... Microsoft :
- With the aberrant conditions to entry MarketPlace for developers,
- And with their crappy windows phone 7 series that is maybe the biggest step backward in computer industry that I've ever seen,
they will totally kill Window Mobile and commit suicide to their mobile department !

Apart from "Encarta Pocket Dictionary" it is available the "Oxford English Dictionay" in .lit format for free some where in the net, and if you have a dictionary in .doc format (with hypertextual links) you can convert it to .lit format using the appropriate mirosoft word patch, all links will work in .lit too.
