Samsung Jack i637 -- Messaging Software Change? - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

The Messaging software on the Jack drives me crazy. I text a lot, and I have to do something about this.
1) The default input method when selecting a new recepient is 123, and the Epix had the same setup.. whereas the BJII would default to abc. I liked the abc default a lot better because I could just start typing the name of the recepient. However, both of them would at least auto complete or auto recognize the recepient when I started typing the first few letters of their name. The Jack does not. This is a major pain for me, as I certainly do not input recepients by number (who does?!) and do not like to go through the extra menus to select a recepient.
2) When composing a new message, the Jack brings up the Sending Message screen that would only come up when sending a Multimedia Message on the BJII and Epix, and also brings up that annoying Message Sent popup window. The method for disabling this popup on the BJII does not work on the Jack. Also, the first message sent to the recepient does not show up in my Inbox as part of the conversation, but after I get a response the "conversation" begins. The overall composition process is just a huge pain, I don't see why that Sending and Message Sent screen is necessary at all?!
What I would really like is to replace the Messaging software of the Jack with that of the BJII (original software, NOT WM 6.1 software). The Jack comes with Samsung MMS Version 1.0.0 Build 36, the BJII came with Samsung MMS Version 1.0.0 Build 194. The original software was FAR superior to all of the following ones. The software on the 6.1 upgrade for the BJII was pretty much the same as what came on the Epix, and the one on the Jack is even worse in my opinion..
Is it possible to get the original BJII (or at least BJII WM 6.1) Messaging software installed on the Jack?! What I would really like is to have the default input in the recepient field be abc instead of 123, and for the recepient's name to auto complete or auto recognize without me going into menus to check names or select contacts.

SMS on WM6 - is it badly designed?

I'm starting to get wound up with the way WM6 handles texting, unsure if its specific to the Niki, or the Orange customisations.
I'm running the standard Orange customised firmware, and this is a list of the problems -
- it regularly just saves messages into the drafts folder rather than sends them
- takes ages (well maybe 10-20 seconds) to respond when attempting to send
- keeps a message in the outbox until I told it to send
- it will say "sending failed", whilst the recipient has actually received the message
Any when there's no signal, why doesn't the SMS system just keep the messages in the outbox until there is a signal? It just says "message can't be sent" and stick the message in the drafts folder.
Is this just standard windows mobile? If so, its pretty poor - Symbians messaging systems work absolutely perfectly in comparison.
So far my WM6(o2 xda stellar) seems to text just fine
Only issue same as one of yours is the no signal and moving the text to drafts and it does not resent as far as i know
I'm wondering if WM just isn't suited to anyone who does a lot of texting.
I'm on one of Oranges unlimited text plans, and I'm regularly doing 1000+ texts in a month. Not good though .... I'm thinking of starting to just use the Niki for calendar/data storage, its getting to be useless as a phone.
Yes it was badly designed... use PocketCM

I have got pocketCM on there, but that will use the same messaging subsystem, its just a different interface on the same systems. Which means it'll have exactly the same problems.
Ok, there's a lot that could be fixed in WM but sms seems to work pretty damn well. Especially 6.1's threaded sms is great to use. I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

Text messaging does not work

Hello!
My problem is I cannot send any SMS message (it actually is moved to the sent folder, but the other phone does not receive it), as well as I cannot receive any SMS message (the phone lights-up when I sent a SMS to it but nothing more happens), EDIT: though on the sender's phone I get a delivered report.
Before you ask - no, the text messaging service number in phone options is not correct. The field is empty and whatever I do write there does not get saved. I can modify the voice mail number, area code and all and save it, but the text messaging service field keeps being empty (it is set correctly when trying on my other phone).
Calls do work.
As I believe the only problem is the number not present, is there any other way I could store the text messaging service number in the phone? Like registry setting or similar... Or any other solution welcomed.
Thanks!
By the way, I'm running the WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.20282.19597 for Tornado with Neo Style English Version V1 by Karas, my operator is O2.
The radio version is 4.1.13.28_02.61.01, RIL version 2.002.
i had the same problem with the rose rom... it only helped to hard reset the device...
has somebody a fix for that? or what is the problem?
hard reset does not work for me, but it seems it is a problem in the rom, which cannot be workarounded...
Try another rom!!

Problems with AT&T Tilt

Hello, I need some help with my tilt. Im running WM6.1. I have some problems with my texting:
When I type a message, it doesnt automatically capitalize things like "I" and it doesn't put in apostrophes when needed
I set it to organize my text messages by "Recieved", but it changes the text from the time it got it to the day it got it, and puts the earlier date on the bottom
I also want to remove the "Zoomboard" option that's in the menu for choosing a text input mode; it's still there after I uninstalled it.
These problems began after I uninstalled vito zoomboard and vito SMS-Chat, I dont know what to do to fix it
Another problem I have is that when I try to type out a person's name when choosing who to send a text to, it doesn't automatically show their name and number like this:
Random Person <number in here>
Again, after I uninstalled vito zoomboard and vito SMS-Chat, these problems arose.
Is there a registry edit or something to fix this? Please help!

Text Message Retry

I opened this originally in the Rhodium forums but didn't really get a response so maybe the greater WM community might be able to help (since I think the program is on other phones.) My original thread is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582670.
Anywho, the stock VZW TP2 comes with an app that is called "Text Message Retry" and the name being intuitive, it retries a message when it fails to send. Currently my phone just drops it in drafts and forgets about it (great because I look at this folder all the time??). Conveniently this sucks since I work in a lab where if I move between racks I loose service. I'm running the current EnergyROM Photon for my phone and the Samsung Text Message Retry I found doesn't seem to be working. Ideas?
A *.cab that works would be great or an alternative program. I'm fairly good in the registry and whatnot so if needed I can hack things in.

[Q] HTC HD2 Numeric Keyboard Problem

I had no problems using my HD2's soft keyboard for the first few months, but a couple of weeks ago it started giving me problems. Specifically, when I type anything from the numbers/symbols screen, the characters change font, add spaces between and the texting generally misbehaves.
What is worse is that the symbols in question are illegible to the receiver of my SMSs and the Calendar Appointments that sync with Outlook are equally illegible (each character is represented with a "square" symbol. For example, when I send someone an SMS saying "meet me at 9:00", I see "meet me at 9 : 0 0 " and they see "meet me at XXXX".
Worse still, when I try to SMS someone who is not in my phonebook (dialing in their number), the phone cannot read these symbols and gives me an error. This is UNMANAGEABLE. Is this a common bug? What can I do to fix this? Will I have to switch to a non-native keyboard? What if I upgrade to Win 7?
Please advise and HELP! I have attached screenshots for clarity, showing what I write in SMS and what is received on the other end...
