What OS emulators are available for Android? - General Questions and Answers

Hi specifically looking at getting an HTC Hero but wanting to run some apps specifically only available on WM/PalmOS (including Citrix, although I have seen rumours of it coming to Android) and possibly one other ap currently only for iPhones OS.
Just wanted it to be a general question though to start with as per the title. Thanks in advance.

Yup, it isn't a WinMo subject, but, given that a lot of people want to install OS X on their desktop (regardless of when they want to develop for the iPhone or not), they will surely welcome my tutorial, which is way better and much more up-to-date than anything else out there.
there is another whole forum dedicated just to putting os x on ur normal everyday pc. believe its in the link, insanelymac? its been out there since 2005 when it debuted and i ran it on my pentium 4 lol.

Yeah, there surely is - if you read my guide, you'll see I've linked to a lot of insanelymac threads. It's just I wanted to announce the existence of my guide on also the WinMo boards I'm a regular at - after all, it's the first step-by-step guide to for example setting up the latest and greatest distros, hacks and kernels on the t4x-series Thinkpads ever written.

Android on Non-HTC Devices?

Before anyone comments, Yes. I *know* this forum is primarily for HTC devices.
Anyway, does anyone know if there are any projects going for getting Android running on Non-HTC devices? Specifically, Acer or Eten devices? I've got a bunch of devices here (see my sig), that I'd LOVE to get it running on, but don't have a clue where to start, nor the skills necessary to write drivers for them...
Motorola and Samsung are the manufaturers that spring to mind. There's the Samsung Galaxy and Motorola have just made an announcement which Orange will be carrying sometime in October.

Yeah, I know that; but what I was asking was if anyone knows of any projects to get Android ported to existing non-HTC devices, such as the projects for the HTC Vogue and Kaiser...
Sure, i780 and omnia can run android. No audio and microphone yet.. but you can send sms, navigate into menu, use wifi, install apps etc

Some folks over at modaco.com are porting android for the Samsung Omnia. I think they also have a thread in the dev/hacking section.

[Q] Which phone for Android?

Hey all! I am new to the forums, this being my first post. I had a question about running android on htc phones. Through a switch of cell phone carriers I have gained access to a Pure, a Fuze, or a Tilt 2. My goal is to run Android on one of these phones, using google voice for texting and calling on wi-fi. I was wondering which of these phone options would work the best to do this on and why. Thanks for any advice ~ Kidron
Welcome to forums
Diamond 2 and Rhodium have Android running just quite good on it, have a look to the proper subsections to find out more.
Read, Search, Respect and Enjoy!
Thanks! Will do...

[Q] OS Port Question Thunderbolt (been searching)

I've been searching for this answer but unless I'm using the wrong keywords or maybe the info I need is buried on page 30 I can't seem to find.
Does anyone know if any dev has been able to or has ported "windows phone 7" OS of any version over to the Thunderbolt?
I've asked in a few other areas but got flamed for wanting to overwrite Android so I gave up in the Thunderbolt forums.
If it has been done all I'm asking for is the url, of course I have no problem reading the info.
It wont happen.. It is far to difficult to port at Binary based closed source OS to different hardware.. The windows mobile 6.5 HTC HD2 was an exception as it has the same cpu and gpu etc as most the WP7 devices so was more of a hack than a port..
shame but thats how it is
Thanks for the answer. Was searching Google and getting crazy stuff. Not really wanting to switch to Nokia or T-Mobile. For me having 7 or Mango version would make my business sync issues so much easier. Again Thanks Much.

[Q] ios or windows on android

will ios or windows will ported in android
So many discussions about this. People say no just cause they think android a better os and has more possibilities, and better customization. All in all, it would most likely be reversed.

If you want wm buy the HD2....you got winmo 6.5 and 7, android and other os
I saw that iOS was running on HD2 but im not sure.....but some groups are tryin to put iOS but they need to rewrite all folders and scripts cause its not open-source like android.

:angel:use BOCHS ...
It can be, because if Android was ported on MeeGo, than why not ios on android?
Had you guys searched you would have learned the answer to this in one of the hundreds of threads about this very subject.
IOS is too closed source as is WP. Want more info then refer to the older threads.
