Is it likely that the Touch Pro 3 will be Snapdragon powered like the Leo?
And I suppose that as the TP2 hasn't been out that long, I guess we will have a long wait for the TP3? At least a year?
I'd like a Leo but will really miss my Kaiser keyboard and D-Pad / Extra buttons.

I doubt the Touch Pro 3 will have a D-Pad. I would expect it to be Snapdragon-based, and to be released sometime around next May (but that's purely a guess based on the relative release dates of the Touch HD, Touch Pro2 and HD2).

Well if you want to wait and buy a US branded version than yes I'd say you are going to have to wait a year for it. But come April-May the GSM EU/Asia Unlocked versions should be arriving. Seeing as that is when the Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 originally went on sale.
US carriers are usually always 6month-1yr+ behind on sell phones and Technology.
does anyone have any specs in the touch pro 3 ?
i could hold off upgrading my xperia if there was something cool and exciting round the corner ... ?
Well, if you look at HTC's past it will be likely that all high end devices from now until about two years from now (initial EU release dates) will use that exact same Snapdragon processor, yes
yes, Snapdragon cpu is the way to the future

Technology move faster and faster each day. If you wait, you'll still have to wait later.
I am looking for a replacement of my TyTn II.
I will wait to see when both the HP Ipaq 610C and Imate 9502 are out. And both these models should be out very soon, say less than a month.
I will then try to go through reviews to see if these do not have major problems and decide on one.
The SE Xperia is a bit too much in the future to wait for.
You may want to wait a little longer

It really depends which Touch you are refering to...The GSM Touch with the OMAP 200mhz processor? or either the Touch Dual or Touch Cruise? IMO, they all have thier problems. OMAP is too slow and seriously outdated, and the Touch Dual/Cruise lack proper video drivers. If you have a good phone I would wait...
If you have an old phone with some issues, I would get the Touch Cruise today. Which is just what I did

Depends on what you're looking for...
...and how long you're willing to wait.
Possible cool phones that will probably show up in the next 6 months:
- iphone v2 with 3G
- more VGA phones
- Sony Xperia
- iMate 9502

You're right I got the new HP 614c since 1 week now. Works like hell. Only misfit in this : the camera is BAAAAAAAD.
Dirk
Your wait just got longer. Its been delayed to Feb 2009.
that phone was ugly anyways, i think i'll stick with my kaiser
I think that the drivers are not available yet LOLOL
Still on track!
Not delayed
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/sony-ericsson-says-xperia-x1-is-still-on-track-for-this-year/
31th of December will still be in 2nd half of 2008 but will most certainly be a long wait...
But then again maybe the X1 will be the first flagship from Sony Ericsson that will not be delayed - you never know... I wouldn't bet my money on it

heh, i think that kaiser looks just like a brick in compare to xperia. se is beautifull and i swap to it only if it will be possible
Whatever...you can always wait for tech to get better. That's a long wait, so it's not even worth mentioning really.
I want it, but I want to keep my kaiser too . . What to do what to do. . .
I really cannot see any reason what so ever for changing the Kaiser with the X1. I think the screen and the camera on the Kaiser is very nice and basically isn't that the only differences on the two models apart from the design?

Hmm would still stick with the Kaiser...
Another good reason to "trade up" is...
For us in the US, and on T-Mobile, we will not be able to utilize 3G when it is completely rolled out, right? I heard that T was rolling it out in the 1700 MHz band. If that is the case, then no 3G for TyTN users.
well i'm for the looks for the xperia...altho it doesnt tilt as much as the TytnII i'd still want it...the silver...mmm...reminds me of my old p1i...and the optical navigation pad...however taht works...should be awesome too...i hope
If quake doesn't run on it then I don't see why I would trade.
pew pew
2009 release was a mistake it will be second half of this year
I am extreamly tempted by it, largly due to the sony camera, and if the build quailty is like that of my old w800i and w850i then its a huge bonus.
I've been holding off on the Tilt to see how this is going to pan out. But what I've seen of the Experia X1, I'll be heading down that road....

If you want to play Quake (and other 3D accelerated (!) games), get a second-hand Dell Axim x51v. 10000 times better than the Tilt.
lol if I get anything just to play games on then I will get a psp.
Wow, I am blown away by some of the comments here. The screen resolution of the X1 is enough. 800x480 is even better than Diamond, and the 3" screen is sweet. Enough to make me drool. And at 140g it's 25% lighter than the Kaiser. Now port the Manila interface from Diamond to it, and we are in business
I know this sounds like a very open and subjective question, and sorry for that, but I make enough money that really cost is not an issue for me. As such, while I am dreadfully happy with my XV6800, I am left wondering what I could be missing.
I have looked at the HTC Touch HD, new Omnia Touch, Touch Pro, Diamond, etc. But there are so many choices that I would like to solicit a little aid.
Here are my criteria:
1. Money is no object.
2. Any major US carrier is fine.
3. Touch screen absolutely necessary.
4. Hard Keyboard helpful but not 100% required.
Is there some WM phone out there that just has everything someone could want even at a huge pricetag? Some monster with Wifi, VGA screen, loads of RAM, 3G, and a 5+ mp camera?
Thanks in advance,
Devin
Well by looking at your criteria, I think your best bet would be a Touch HD. You can easily import one that'll work on any GSM network and it has a HUGE screen, although it does have a weird resolution, and the camera is said to be a 5MP.
touch hd is good but i don't think it is available in the us. try the touch pro aka diamond.
it is available through att as the fuze. (sprint also has a touch pro i just like gsm networks better)
Is there a somewhat easy and non-technical way to get an unlocked and imported Touch HD to work with Verison or Sprint in the US?

Nope. The Touch HD is a GSM device, while Verizon and Sprint run on CDMA. Two different technologies.

This is true. I'd go with the touch pro (Raphael) if you want a hardware keyboard at the cost of the device being slightly thicker, but the diamond is nice as well (I've used both but only own the pro, and in my opinion I like the pro slightly more.)

2. Order the unlocked Touch HD from Handtec ($700 delivered to your door)
3. Put in your ATT simcard with unlimited data package

The best option.
Hi, I have a quick question to ask. I bought my touch pro (1) last year and I was looking at all the nice new phones HTC is coming out with. I was honestly thinking about getting the HTC Diamond 2 or the HTC Hero, but looking through the specs, I see that they all have 528 MHZ processors. That is literally no improvement over my touch pro, which also has a 528 mhz, and chances are, there wont be much of an improvement over what I have.
I think I am going to wait it out until an HTC phone comes out that is 600 mhz or more.
I know of the HTC Leo (Firestone), which is a concept phone and I don't even know if this phone will ever move into production. Does anyone know of any other HTC phones that are bound to come up that have at least 600 mhz of processor? Also, maybe even a quality camera that is at least 5 mp will be nice too.
Yeah, wait till the end of the year great 600+mhz devices will be anounced!
I´m tented to do the same!
I have alreadymy 700Euro saved to buy my new device, initially I was going for touch pro 2 but decided to wait till december to make the right choice.
I was looking at the touch pro 2 but one thing I didn't like about it was its bulkiness. It seems pretty thick in the pictures, thats why I was looking at TD 2. But as soon as I see something that is 600 mhz, I'm gonna look into buying it. the SnapDragon processors for smartphones must be really expensive when they come out. Perhaps in the $1000s for an unlocked :-\.

Doubtful.
All new smartphones seem to cost $700-$800 unlocked regardless of specs. As of right now, you can preorder the Toshiba TG01 (which has a Snapdragon) for $800.
By the time it actually arrives, my guess is that it would be in the $700 range. If you want to get it now, though, you'll have to import it.

Guyz if you want faster phone... then the year is 2010... AMD and Samsung also announced another chip which can clock up to 1000mhz (Hummingbird) like snapdragon on Toshiba G1. and windows mobile 7 is on the corner ... and my HTC Universal also has 528mhz processor which was released in 2005 ... so i think waiting until 2010 is best choice.....
Completly agree.
But wm7 is not around the corner, I donñt think we see it before september 2010

WinMo 7 sounds great and, hopefully, HTC will also finally update their specs in 2010 (but if not, I suppose Samsung will continue to have the best specs).
Nonetheless, while the Hummingbird sounds great, it's supposedly just an overclocked Cortex A8 with a modified architecture. Isn't the much better Nvidia Tegra also supposed to be release in 2010? It would probably pay off to wait for that instead.
.
(How do you delete a post?)
lol.
So many 1ghz phones in such a small window.
I really hope HTC pulls through and actually makes something decent.
This is what I"m hoping to find:
1-smoother processor
2-ease of use (typing, web surfing, etc.)
3-long battery life
4-nice productivity features
5-improved TF3D that has been revamped to be more "scheduling" friendly
The following two have the lowest priority, however, I wouldn't mind if these features were included
6-A nice camera with good picture quality (5mp, hopefully)
7-a good 3D accelerator that will allow for nice graphic games as well as HD movies
Hopefully all this on a 3.2-4" screen., although I don't know how huge a 4" screen will be
Does anyone have any info on the HTC Firestone?

My friend, I reiterate, check out Toshiba TG01. Coincidentally, that phone also has a 4.1in screen. Link: http://www.gsmarena.com/toshiba_tg01-2662.php
On the other hand, I don't think a phone screen needs to be that large to improve readability. I think a 3.5-3.7in screen would do fine.

I think so.
It depends, the Touch Pro3 is rumored to have a smaller 3.0" resistive screen/lower res than the Touch Pro2. I would certainly prefer the HD2 over that.

Yeah i be calling it the Touch Pro 1.5 only thing increased is CPU by about 70MHz
Think i'd rather have the HD2 or TP2 "since don't own either"
But back on topic there is a possibility since the HD2 is far better spec'd .
