How long is the Manufactures warranty? Does anyone know if the manufacturers warranty would be honored if the phone was purchased brand new from ebay?
1 year.
Tough question. If you could prove your purchase then yes... but it would have to go through HTC themselves vs your carrier. They'll typically just fix the problem and send it back to you. I don't think they send out refurbs or replacements.

Who has or have directly known anyone that has purchased a third-party insurance/warranty from squaretrade? I ask because I read good things about their warranties but can not find "real" (actual people on this board or elsewhere) who can give testimony for either good or bad.
I purchased a Sprint branded Touch Pro (using it on Verizon) from ebay, and it came in immaculate condition and fully functional as the seller stated. At the time, I thought the squaretrade warranty offered by the seller on ebay was a scam, but for $48 I figured it was cheap insurance. I know sometimes parts fail and as luck has it, the USB charge/sync port failed. I am in no way blaming the seller and am not going to try to scam my money back from them. Verizon will not touch it as it is not a device they sell technically and Sprint won't touch it either as I do not have a line of service with them.
HTC will not warranty it for free as I am not the original purchaser, and offer repairs at an estimated cost at or above what I paid for the device off ebay.
I filed a claim with squaretrade as my warranty states I am entitled to, and they promptly approved my claim and emailed me a pre-paid UPS return shipping label and claim they will have it repaired "usually within five days of receiving the device". I boxed it up, filled out the simple form they required and shipped it off.
Now this being my first time using this company and their service, up to this point I am pleased with them. Their customer service seems to be on par with Asurion and other types of services I have used in the past. I will be more than happy to update this thread when I receive my device back in working order and give a rating here.
Thanks for reading this rather long post, and I ask anyone who has dealt with them in the past to chime in with any feedback, good or bad regarding Squaretrade and their services.
Have you received the phone back yet? If so/if not - remember to update us on this!
I was wondering if you got the phone back from squareTrade yet.
I would like to use them but like you would like to know that there are real people out there who are satisfied with them.
I purchased a warranty or insurance for my G tablet(2 years) from sears. My question for those that work or have experience with returns, say I have 2 G tablets; 1 with and 1 without insurance. Can I return either of the two incase something happens to Sears?
I'm asking because I had originally bought a Nook Color for my sister's birthday, but she didn't really like it so I returned it. She wants the same one I have and knowing how clumsy she is, can my insurance protect hers?
Thanks!
Depends on if they registered your serial number when they sold you the warranty. If so, you're probably not going to be able to do it.

I don't think they did, I went to return a gtab 3 days after purchase to get the $30 sale difference. When I asked if I was still able to purchase an insurance all they did was ask for my rewards card and receipt. I only paid the difference of $20 for the 2 year insurance. I would think that if you're covered, return one, then the serials would be different or change. I think they only go by item number/stock number. The only ones I know that go by serial is when you're going by manufacturer's warranty.
Any other help, or experience with this?
It's too late but I'd recommend using an American Express card for purchases since they will extend warranty to another year. Other credit cards do it also but Amex tends to have pretty good service for their extended warranty.
I bought a 3y warranty from squaretrade yester with accidental "handling" damage added for c. $65... there's a 30% off coupon which worked for me: FBPREVIEW
(I've never bought a warranty from squaretrade before, but I've only seen positive comments about them, and no negative(a good sign as negatives are usually more common than positive comments) comments... seemed like a good deal to me as I'm sure that I'll eventually drop the gTab or spill something on it...)
Has anyone attempted to do a warranty exchange on the phone through samsung? is it hard? Do we have to send the phone in or do they send one us first then we return the defective model? my headphone jack is messing and wont detect headphones.

I haven't personally done one through Samsung, all the ones I have done have been through T-Mobile.. They were quite easy, and I am sure that Samsung would be the same.. You just have to go through there 30 minute checklist of them saying.. Have you tried this, or this, or this.. I usually just tell them that we already went through all of that with the person you spoke to before (even if you didn't speak with someone) and they say.. "Oh, okay" xD
But they usually send you the phone & you send yours back once you get the new one..
Yes Tmobile does replacements for defective phones usually but unfortuantely it is not the case for the nexus s. When I called samsung tech support they said that the warranty only covers repairs of the phone and not exchanges which sucks. I was also told it would take about three weeks to repair and ship to me.
When I called Tmobile they said that they don't service or repair the nexus s since it isnt sold through them and I'd have to talk to either best bbuy or Samsung.
I remember when I bought my nexus one, HTC sent me a replacement first and I sent in my defective phone afterwards.
I ended up just getting my phone repaired at best buy. They actually just replaced it with a refurb or new unit and I received it in three days. This is the blacktie protection btw
I called Samsung in regards to my old Nexus S (that I no longer have) and they said that they'll only repair, which may take 7-10 days.
T-Mobile does replace your phone though. They usually send out the phone first [I believe it's refurb though], and you ship yours back afterwards.
Will Best Buy give me a replacement dock and tablet if I cite the dock malfunction despite my having unlocked the tablet?
I have a similar question here;

I think we should be OK to unroot & wipe... **waits for confirmation!**
You unlocked the boatloader?
You've officially lost warranty.
Though, you can allways hope they wont notice..
but thats losing warranty with asus. not best buy, i doubt anyone at bestbuy is smart enough to know anything about it and best buys warranty doesnt say anything about stuff like that. simply, its broke, we replace..
Best Buy Warranty
This depends... if you didn't purchase an extended warranty through them they honor the terms of the manufacturer's warranty. How this is carried out varies from product to product and vendor to vendor. In some cases, the vendor agreement essentially replaces the item out right. In the worst form, the product gets sent back to a manufacturer's authorized service center. Sometimes this is the manufacturer and other times is a third party. I do agree that it is unlikely that anyone at the store level would notice the unlocked bootloader however it may get noticed at the service center.
If you purchased the extended warranty, then most likely the product will not be serviced and it will be replaced.
I will admit that it has been 2 years since I worked in the warranty fulfillment capacity with that company so things may have changed some. Either way I'm glad to have a real job. Hope this helps.
Meh. If they're anything like Walmart, they probably won't even turn it on. I returned 2 tablets to Walmart, and the only hassle I got was from taking the S/N sticker off the second one, and they still took it back.
Does the device say "unlocked" at boot? I just swapped my 16gb for a 32gb and they definitely turned it on to confirm it works.
If it doesn't say unlocked anywhere than I doubt they'd notice.

The device does indeed say that it's unlocked at boot... Will Best Buy actually notice and know what to make of it?
Does anyone know if Lenovo or Lowe's offers any kind of insurance/damage protection? Square trade might but I don't know?

I thought I read somewhere that it was supposed to have a one year warranty, but when I added my phone to the Lenovo page, it claimed I had no warranty. I bought my phone from Lowes (online). The Lenovo phone rep claimed it was a glitch because their system isn't set up for phones, but they also couldn't look up my warranty to tell me how long it really was, so I'm not sure what to believe.
Square trade but it's a one time thing also make sure to get it right after getting the phone
Can you post link to Lenovo warranty register page?

I bought a square trade warranty for drops and spills, which also covers mechanical issues (if that's the right word), but I read somewhere our P2P has a 1 year manufacturers warranty, since it's sold in the states. According to Lenovo US Phab 2 Pro site http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/smartphones/phab-series/phab2-pro/ there is a warranty, but apparently you have to contact them for specifics.

There is a SquareTrade warranty with Drops and Spills... I couldn't get any kind of warranty for my Chinese Huawei Mediapad X2... SquareTrade said nope... They said only USA releases... I am thinking that I will get the SquareTrade with Drops and Spills. Something like a $99 deductible and maybe $150 a year... You need to have a receipt from a good USA retailer. I bought my Note 3 NEW on ebay a year or so after it was first released... SquareTrade would only give me a mechanical warranty... I bought my nephew a tablet that was manufactured with an inherent problem with the charging port. I got a 3-year Drops & Spills warranty on it. We are now on the THIRD brand - new tablet SquareTrade has sent us!!! The charging port goes bad and they apparently cannot fix it. I had no deductible and no shipping charges to or from! The only thing is that the tablet is no longer available and it took a LOOOONG time to get this last new one... I am going to demand money instead of a new tablet if it happens again!!!

I bought my square deal warranty for $79 for 1 year with $99 deductible. Use harvest20 as coupon/code at checkout for 20% off. At least that worked for me last Friday.

Thanks! I forgot about the 20% off... I have been getting emails from them about that and just automatically deleting them because I don't need a new warranty at this time... I am still waiting for the P2P to COME BACK!!! I WILL get the warranty ASAP after buying the phone... I figure I would be spending at least as much on a new phone without a warranty as I will on a P2P + WARRANTY...
