Jacheroski 1.5 - problem with text messaging/sms - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I am currently running JacHeroSki 1.5 Hero rom on my mytouch 3g. I prefer to use handcent but this sms application fails to work with the hero rom. I was wondering if it is a kernel related issue and if I flashed a new kernel if it would work? BFS230 perhaps? and I was also wondering if this is a known issue and/or if anyone else is having the same problem? Even with the standard preinstalled sms application it seems like I am not receiving all messages sent from my friends/family. I am currently awaiting for my class 6 sd card in the mail so I can flash a better rom. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Contacts given priority in Android 2.1 keyboard suggestion list

I've spent the past 2.5 hours searching for an answer to this and have come up dry. I've recently upgraded my MT3G to a 2.1 Android ROM. I notice that the auto-suggest constantly tries to give priority to names it finds in my contacts. So, when I try to type a simple work like "or" it will default to "Orwell" in my contacts. Hopefully this makes sense.
Is there a way to remove my contacts from the dictionary or otherwise prevent this from happening?
Thanks,
Tim
Same issue
I loaded st0kes 2.1 rom ver 1.4.2 and I get ONLY contacts as results. What rom did you load?

AOSP MMS Fix

On the stock AOSP builds that many of us are using, has anyone found a fix to the terrible time most of us are having with MMS? I've searched several of the AOSP threads and the common theme is MMS problems, but I've yet to find a solution on here. Anyone have any luck getting things working?
MMS works perfectly fine on AOSP1.6.
I should've clarified that I meant non-HTC builds. I know that quiet was able to fix it in his AOSP build, but I'm running gbhil's CDMA Donut build from Android Central for the simple fact that the camcorder is working. The issue that people were seeing with quiet's build up until just before his release seems to be the same issue I'm having with gbhil's build. It would be very interesting to see the two builds combined so that MMS fully works and the camcorder works as well.
I guess what I'm specifically looking for is what quiet was able to do to get MMS working on his ROM that gbhil was not able to do.
Well ghbil's 1.6 ROM is just using the 31 Dec build of quiet's 1.6.
I've since switched back to Gumbo 1.5c. I was starting to have the SMS issues that several were complaining about with quiet's rom. I suppose this will do until the update.
Just use email.
take a look at my thread hope it helps.. my MMS WORKS

HD2 Android Desire ROM minor bug

Hi,
I have tried the Android rom for desire on HD2. Thanks the developers, it is funny. However, I have to report some bugs and hope there is improvement in the future.
1) Sometimes the music player reported "no SD card" detected.
2) Pairing problem with SE bluetooth MW600. Can hear music playing by the phone but cannot make a call/receive a call. The device is functioning very well in WM6.5. Don't know if the bug exists with other bluetooth device.....
3) Cannot mount the SD card under Android platform with PC. Any 3rd party apps can do?
4) Built in Camcorder doesn't work without the optical sensor. Hard to find a 3rd party camcorder from Market!
5) The key at the bottom have no backlite at all. Cannot press the key in darkness.
6) Buttons on HD2 handsfree is not function (play, pause, forward, backward). Also not working for Music player or making calls.
my ROM configure:
Radio: 2.10.50.26
Android version: Android 2.1: darkstone_desirebuild_v5.7z
zImage is 7/23 version
This is old, I recommend you to use the newest Froyo Sense build with Cotulla's newest Kernel -> better experience...
Im using android 2.2 on my hd2 and ive had no trouble with it upgrade to 2.2 it should be ok then

And the fact that THIS IS AN ANDROID PORT, your device dosnt run android natively, meaning no everything works like it should, before posting questions STFF, ofcourse things arent working, its a work in progress, not a "place cab on your sd card, install it and BAM! your hd2 magicly transforms into a htc super ultra megatron holy grail perfect android device"....
Thanks bros, I will try your suggestions.
Of course, I know HD2 is not running Android natlively. I just try to report the problems I encountered. I hope the group will work around it and make it perfect.
If no one reports the problem, how can you improve?
Can anyone help me with the mms issue I try every setting I have found and no luck..I can receive mms but can't send them...darkstone froyo 2.2 custom rom Miri 17.6 on the t mobile hd2

I'm looking to buy an HD2 or some other used handset to run and Android build on for now and potentially a build of Win7, when it becomes available. I know the HD2 has the hardware I'm looking for, and based on these posts, it looks likes its running froyo pretty well. I guess what I'm trying to ask is if this handset would be at the sweet spot between most compatible hardware to run the most current builds of Android and best price point for a used handset? i hope that question makes sense to somebody besides me

[Q] Question about texting w/ Custom ROM's

So I have the Android Revolution HD 3.0.3 ROM flashed to my phone and I noticed that when I use the swype feature during texting it will suggest some of the stupidest words that I'm not even close to using. Is the list of words different because it's not a TMOUS ROM? How can I fix it. I find myself having to type text in landscape because swyping is useless. Thanks!
Your issue is with Swype itself, not the rom. I'm using Swype beta now and it seems to be pretty accurate for me. You can go into settings, keyboards, Swype settings, and then move the slider over to prefer accuracy over speed. It has made a dramatic difference for me. Should work for you also.
If you are referring to the trace feature and not the actual swype keyboard app, then yes the correction/suggestions will be affected by the rom.
I should have been more accurate and saying its the trace feature not swype itself. How do I alter the suggestions of my trace feature? I flashed a TMOUS ROM and its a lot better.

Though I am not sure, I would assume the preset dictionary would be in the lib file associated with the keyboard apk. I would post the question in the arhd thread or just swap it out and see what happens. Mike is really good about answering questions.
I have a really weird problem, I think it is due to the custom rom that I installed in it?
I have a problem with sending messages (sms) to all of my contacts, it lists the problem as 'message sending failed after several attempts'. I tried using GO SMS but to no avail. I have tried to select another service provider and select my service provider again, but nothing changes. I have checked the service number with service provider and it is correct, and when i try texting on another phone, it seems to work.
I have tried several insertcoin roms, and they all don't seem to work for me. Everything else is fine, recieving texts, calling, internet browsing, etc etc. Everything is fine except sending messages, which is kind of annoying.
Using Insertcoin Sense Android 2.3.4 Stable 2.5.5.
Any help on this would be great!!!

[Q] Handscent, GO SMS, Chomp...seem to make phone lag

Not really sure where to post this question but I think this is likely the best place. I've installed many custom ROMs but always seem to have a problem in terms of performance when I use any of the ICS/JB ROMs. I'm 99% sure the issues have to do with running non-stock SMS apps such as Handscent, GO SMS, Chomp... When I use my P500 without a non-stock SMS app installed, it works really well. When I install a non-stock SMS, I notice very significant lag no matter what I'm trying to do. It does not seem to be as much of an issue when running a GB ROM.
Now, the obvious solution is to simply go with the stock SMS app. However, there are so many benefits to using the non-stock apps that I can't seem to live without using one of them. The other solution would be to stick with a GB ROM - but even there I do experience some lag.
Any ideas as to why a non-stock SMS app would cause issues? Any other ideas in terms of possible workarounds...
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Dave
