I have seen it in several places on this forum that it is not possible to partition an SD card, or any other removable media in windows. This is incorrect. It is possible.
TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
First...
BACK UP YOUR CARD - YOU WILL LOOSE ALL DATA
Download windows enabler from softpediahere
second...
navigate to the folder you downloaded to and start the EXE. this app doesn't install, you just run in. You will notice a new icon in your SYSTRAY (the area by the clock). click on it once and you will see the icon changes to read "on".
third...
Be a bit careful now because you have just turned on every greyed out option in windows. (this can be useful for all sorts of things but be carefull)
Go into control panel>administrative tools>computer manager.
on the left click on Disk management.
find your SD card. If there is already a partition on it right click and click on delete partition. This is usually greyed out but if you followed all the instructions it wont be.
Fourth...
right click again and click on New Partition. select primary in the wizard and leave the drive letter as is (or change if you really feel the need).
In the next screen you will be given the option of changeing the size, but... you guessed, it's greyed out. Never mind though, click there anyway and magically it is not greyed out any more. type in the size you want and format the partition.
you can now repeat step four for the next partition but when you get to the partition type all three options are grey, again if you just click on them they "come alive" because of windows enabler. There are various tools wich allow you to format to EXT2 from windows once the partition is created. I'm not gonna reccomend one becase I actually used one from panasonic and it was a bit rubbish, I dont know of a good one - go google and past here if you find a nice one.
I suggest deleting windows enabler at this stage as it is a dangerous peice of software. Keep the zip for future use!
You can also do this by editing the registry and skip the windows enabler part but I don't like the idea of giving directions for that, too easy to get it wrong and this is probably quicker, even including the download time for the enabler.
It works up to this step:
find your SD card. If there is already a partition on it right click and click on delete partition. This is usually greyed out but if you followed all the instructions it wont be.
Click to collapse
I've got message like:
The operation is not supported on removeable media
Click to collapse
What now?
This nifty little program does allow me to use the grayed out functionality, but still I cannot create 2 partitions on 1 SD card.
I have however been able to set the partition on my SD card to active with the help of this tool.

Live CD? I'm not willing to completely ditch Windows just to partition a lowly SD card.
U don't have to ditch windows... ubuntu let's u dual boot, and then u can delete ubuntu when u want to

Still not interested and that doesn't answer my question really. Can formatting through an Ubuntu Live CD be successful? I have an Ubuntu Ultimate CD handy.
Thought u would have figured it out but u didn't.. the answer to your question is yes u can format using ubuntu... paragon worked for me easy.. but its up to on what u want to use to partition the sdcard...
Paragon (trial version) worked very well for me. It was intuitive and easy to do, I'm not the best with things like this but I didn't need more direction than "use Paragon, make EXT2 partition, no bigger than 2gb on Class 6 card".

If you could give more information about the complete process that you have done, it would be easier for someone to help you.
For example, what is the name of the ROM?
How are you decompressing it?
Are you trying to flash via WMDC or SD Card?
I am also running Windows 7 on my computer and have no trouble at all.
I think it may be something to do with the process you are doing.
Let us know what it is. I'm sure we'll be able to help in some way.

It is http_://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536751 this one and i already have installed max sense on the phone, and what to change it tolower ram usage and etc... Tried titantium and sense 2.1 no success. I tried via the usb connection. but cannot locate a device, after it is being rebooted. And then i tried to transfer the divimg.nbh to the sd card and reboot, no success - no image found.
one thing is clear: if you try to install the rom from sd card, your Rom name ("divimg....") is wrong. It should be something like "raphimg.nbh".
How do you establish connection between PC and your TP? There are reported some difficulties connecting your TP with the PC via Windows 7 using device center. Using the search may help...
good luck

I see, that should be the problem, thank you. Yes i am using the device center.
Divimg.nbh? Where'd you come up with that, lol?
It needs to be named RAPHIMG.nbh. Make sure the extension is correct, and you don't have RAPHIMG.nbh.nbh, or something like that. And the card has to be formatted to FAT32, and the image must be on the root of the card. That's all there is to it. You also need to have hard spl.
It worked just with the normal file.
same problem
Hi there...
I try to flash the new rom on my TP, and:
1) HardSPL is done, I flash one time a month ..
2) via SD card is written: Image not found - card has been formatted to FAT32, name of the image IS RAPHIMG.nbh.
3) via USB installation goes to the installation screen where "Image not found" is written also ... Active sync has been made, I've checked, that "USB support" is OK.
I have placed ROM and the *.exe file into one folder ..
Can anyone help me?
EDIT: Win XP Prof. 32BIT, Touch Pro and the ROM is ENERGY 23699 Sencity/Touch of Glass - tried both of them.
Please help! Can't use phone.
I did nothing except backed up my apps to sdcard and dropbox using titanium backup, restarted the phone and it gets stuck on lg logo. I went into recovery and deleted cache and dalvik cache. Same deal.
Errors:

E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I can't mount (and therefore format) sdcard!
Now every time I start the phone normally it just goes straight to recovery.

Tried it, the card can't even be opened on the pc, it crashes explorer.exe and the sd activity light on the pc is constantly blinking as if it was trying to open a corrupted disk.
Any help? I googled it and the only solution I've found was to re-format either with windows sd formatter from panasonic. Neither can be done because I can't open the card.
personally , i'd try a recovery program like get data back to get my stuff off that card. you can even format it if windows will let you, and still use gdb to recover your files. but try without formatting first .. i've used gdb many times to recover stuff from deleted partitions, sdcards etc. but the fat32 version is 70 bucks. you could also try the card in a pc with a fresh copy of windows. but it looks like the card is corrupted. thats why i always have a spare card, and a backup of my main sdcard saved to pc. always expect the unexpected.
have you tried the card in a different reader, or phone?

thanks for that. i've been using gdb for years. i'll try that out. one time i deleted 32 gigs of data/music. gdb recovered it all. i'll try out this open source app for sure though.
Thanks for suggestions guys but how am I suppose to use those programs if when I plug-in the card it takes about 5 minutes for windows to list it in my computer and if I try to open it or right-click explorer.exe crashes.

I used it a few years ago to recover dozens and dozens of photos and documents relating to my (now-deceased) father. It was stuff I'd scanned from my mom's albums and collections once when I was visiting home. Took me countless hours to scan and edit that stuff and I couldn't imagine having to do it again lol. My hard drive crashed and I didn't have them backed up anywhere else. Learned my lesson there as far as backups.
I haven't needed to use it for a long time now but yea its a very good tool. If I remember correctly they even have a Live CD you can burn that will boot your computer and allow you to repair/recover your main disk drive if ever needed.
Thanks for hijacking

Not sure why you think I'm hijacking. I'm offering you advice on tools to use for disk management and recovery.
What version of Windows are you using?
Have you tried the Disk Management tool included in Windows? It should be able to see your card and format it for you.
If not, then you can try the bootable disk that crazythunder linked to. It contains gparted to format and partition the drive (and testdisk if you want to recover anything). There are also other bootable disks with gparted on them. Its a great tool. And its free.

Si seƱor. Granted I went on a little tangent about recovering documents about my father, but even that point wasn't totally moot because I was simply sharing a real life example of how testdisk had saved my butt.
Oh well, hope OP figures out the issue with his card. Any disk partitioning tool should take care of it if its just a formatting/partitioning issue.
Seriously?
Buy a new card.
...as the previous poster said, "buy a new card"
I had a 16GB Class 6 card die on me with similar symptoms. I bought a 32GB Class 10 card from Fry's and it has been working fine since.
Suggestion: I learned my lesson with my 16GB card and I backup the contents of my 32GB card to my computer every couple of weeks. This way when my SD card crashes again, I will have a "recent" backup to restore from ;-)
Hey i started up Modern Combat 3 on my phone and i was playing for about 30 seconds when i got a error and the game closed i tried to open it but i wouldn't open at that point i figured there must be a problem with the sd card so i went in to settings and clicked on "SD & phone storage" the phone said my sd card Info was unavailable i so i tried to format it but i just would give a error I then booted into recovery and tried to format from there but when i do it, its says formatting... and it stays that way for 15 minutes never telling me that the format was successfully any ideas? this sd card is only just over a month old.
Also when the phone is on i can't go into disk mode it doesn't give me the option but when i do so from recovery my entire sd card loads and shows up on windows even showing all of my files, i can copy some files off the card others give me a error also instead of saying "removable disk" the drive now says "SDdata" when attached to my pc anyone experienced this I've also tried formatting from windows it just gives a error? I've been trying all night and can get it to work...Sucks and i can't return it because it crapped out like 2 weeks after the return policy
sorry about my grammar if its bad Im a little excited
Umm Anyone?
Try getting a card reader, connecting it directly to your computer and format it.
I recommend to use Gparted. Download iso image and burn it to cd, then boot from cd and do format. It is the best tool to manage filesystems, far better than windows.

That's not good. As said above, try GPartEd. It's available as a stand alone image, but it's probably easiest to get by downloading Ubuntu and using a program such as InfraRecorder (Burn Image command, not just copying the ISO) to burn that to a CD. Set your BIOS to boot from CD, and start up Ubuntu. Once you're on the desktop, click the Ubuntu logo in the top left hand corner, it'll open something called the Unity Dashboard, which has a search box on it. Type "gksudo gparted" and hit enter. From there, find your card in the list and right click it's analysis, click Delete Partition. Then Right click it again and hit New Partition, select FAT32 and close the dialogue box. Then Apply in the left corner. It'll say that any changes are irreversible and can damage the device. Just agree and hope it'll fix it.
However, after writing all that and thinking it over, it sounds a lot like hardware failure. Good luck.

I have a problem with a goophone i5. First I had problems with it not having a signal but that got solved. Now a second problem came up. I plugged the phone in the laptop, clicked on 'turn on usb', after a while I clicked the 'turn off usb' on the phone. It was off, I unplugged and then it gave a warning "not safely removed, sd damaged", while it was safely removed! Now I can't do anything with it like download apps to it etc. It keeps giving that memory is full. So I assume the 8GB is damaged. I have no idea how to fix it, since I searched already, but it's not like I can take the 8GB out, since it's not removable. Do you know a solution or can you help me? Thank you in advance. When I plug the phone the card is just unrecognisable, therefore I can't format it in anyway :crying:

Hi mate!
You have there a problem! First of all goophone do not come with 8GB sd card storage. There are 2 different options: the 16GB and 32 GB so, first of all, try to see if you have a real goophone i5.
Then, there is a way to format the SD card. For that you must buy a Screw Driver to open it. After that take out the screws, pull up the display and you will see the sd card inside. Just unplug it, put it on a SD card Adapter and format it on your desktop.
It can give you SD card Damage for a few times, but ignore it and keep formating it until the warning disapears.
For the screw driver you just need to search on ebay. They are very cheap. So all you have to do is to buy one.
Hope this information helped you out.
Regards
Loren can I ask how you got a signal? I just have no service at top of screen. Driving me nuts,

Is there a trick to getting the glass to pull up? I've taken out the screws, and put the suction cup down near the home button, but when I pull the glass wants to separate from the bracket that holds it to the phone. There is a tearing sound, like adhesive giving away, and it's fighting me. I don't want to pull any harder for fear that I'm going to damage it.
The reason I'm doing this, is that my SD card has also died, and is no longer recognized by the phone, and I'm wanting to replace it.

Can't this help? :got this from android website: ((((( I have been fighting this issue for 6 months, off and on. Used to think it was the SD Cards, but have concluded its got to be software. I used different methods to fix it, but over trial and error I think I found the easiest way.
Reboot into Recovery, go to advanced options. Select to mount via USB, then connect to a pc. May take a few times plugging in and out, till you get the sd card drive to appear on your pc. Once you get it, back out of usb mount. Disconnect the cord, and verify your sd card is mounted. I just go into the install a zip from sd card option, if I see files/folders I know its mounted. back up and select the restart device.
This method I stumbled on, in my efforts to just try and get my phone back. After I made the mistake of formating everything includeing the boot, and other internal components. Was pure luck, but it works. I know now it wasn't the format of the SD Card nor the sd card itself, cause I have tried several. Also used to think it was the file system, cause I used to get the cards working again by formating and then pasteing saved files/folders from an earlier back up. Also have factoy reset many times, that doesn't fix it, and reflashing a ROM sometimes does appear to work, but I think its because of restucture of the file system during that process. Anyway let me know if this helped you.))))
I have same problem with SD card, but I think it is not really broke but rather software problem.
I want to fix problem without removing screen or anything, can anyone help?

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't help.
Got exactly the same problem.. and this is what I have found out so far
If you go to mnt folder using programs like root explorer or rom tool box you will notice 2 folder.. 1st called sdcard which is your internal card and sdcard2 which is the external card
under scard card there are some letters which indicate the permission level it has but under sdcard2 it only shows -----, I manually changed the permission for sdcard 2 (normally long click on the folder name and select permission from the menu) once I done that the external sdcard started to work fine, however when I reboot the phone the sdcard2 lose the permission again
Also, I contacted the guy who I bought the phone from (efit) who told me to open the phone and take the sdcard out and then put it in again and that should make it work, I managed to remove the screen off (not really sure but I think the 2 screws beside the lightning connector is for decoration only).. as you can see from the phone there is no way to access the sd card (unless I did something wrong here)
I contacted efit asking him for some instructions on how to open the phone but I couldn't find the sd card and now he is telling because I opened the phone myself I lost the warranty... what a scum bag !!!
tried the mount to usb thing but that didn't work..
hopefully will find a solution soon
Thanks for this, I almost opened my phone for nothing.
I went to a store to get it open but one of the screws would not come lose, so they didn't try further.
Stupid problem with SD, hope someone will find solution soon.
But you managed to get it working until reboot?
With my phone in mnt folder: sdcard has no permissions and sdcard2 has ---rwxr-x as permission.
What should I change there?
Thanks
ciao

I installed like viber, skype, whatsapp, facebook, soundcloud, simpsons tapped out, angry birds and all that stuff on phone, transferred to sd.
And just all of a sudden, when phone was lying there, it gave error, I rebooted and I lost everything..
But I can still see the fotos on sd card2 through file explorer. Weird stuff.
OK, let's wait for answers of other users I guess.
I also mailed to androidsale what to do, he said try to pull it out and try it a few times, maybe not good connected with sd slot pin, but I can't believe that because phone still finds SD in ROM TOOL lite.
Thanks for your time and effort in this problem!!

Hello, I have the same problem with my goophone i5 v88 I can't mount the sd card (16GB)
I have try to remove my screen but I have the same problem I can't found the sd card (just my sim card...)
Adb shell
you can connect the phone to pc and use adb available with mtk droid tools to force format the sdcard.
Adb shell
Fdisk (search google for how to use fdisk)
If the phone is rooted and has cwm you can format sdcard via cwm.

Thank you very much for the response!!
But I am a noob and don''t know how to do it all, first adb is installed and made available.
Then I installed mtk droid tools. It gives this in info :Free space: system- 251M; data- 153M; sdcard2- 1G; C:\ 75544M
But I don't know how to format now.
Do I have to enter a command in the adb terminal?
Do I have to combine Fdisk and adb shell?
I's not rooted cwm with me, its the chinese recovery from Mayiaandjay from youtube.
Many thanx for the help, almost was going to use it as a picture frame
I do not have access to my PC right now but...
On the right of MTK Droid Tools there are 3 buttons "Root" "ADB Terminal" "Reboot"
Root the phone by pressing "Root", and follow instructions...
Pres "ADB Terminal" to enter Windows command shell, type "adb shell" (without the quotes) to enter the phone shell. Next type fdisk then "enter" and see what comes up...
type "mount" also to find out where your sdcard mounted...
Then search with Google for how to format sdcard...

This is where I got.:
How can I mount or unmount the SD Card using ADB?
The sdcard can be umounted by using the umount command.
unmount /mtn/sdcard/.android_secure
how can it be remounted again :
mount /mnt/sdcard/.android_secure
.
Type mount sdcard next to the "#" sign & press enter...
You will need to know the mount point also if you intend to mount the external card.
As an example:
su mount -o bind /mnt/emmc /sdcard/external_sd
.....................
Like this? And I need to write sdcard2 instead of sdcard I guess?
or this:
First, on your phone, go into Home -> Settings -> SD card & phone storage, then click on "Unmount SD card"
Then, in your shell, do the following.
Code:
adb shell
mkfs.vfat /dev/block//vold/179:1
Then go back to the phone and mount the SD card again. Of course, it would probably be easier to just click "Format SD card," rather than going through adb.
.....
Difficult, don't want to brick my phone..
Many thanks
