Just received after 2 mnths of ordering finally the original O2 Keyboard through expansys for the MDA2/XDA2.
AND IT IS PERFECT.
This little keyboard will make my life perfect, the quality of it is very high, it even comes with a seperate plug to keep it juiced up will typing.
THIS IS A REALLY MUST HAVE
Cool! can you post some pictures?
What model is it?
How much did it cost?
Regards,
Rayan
Some pictures
Price is 157 euro's, which i think is a bit steep, but after you have paid it, you feel its worth it
its the O2 XDAII standard keyboard from the companx stowaway
Expansys no 108739
try this belkin keyboard
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=107436
£32 quid its a nice piece of kit
But can you still charge your xda whilst typing
Yes you can it dont look brilliant, but you can charge it.
I dont really use it at my desk I usually use it at meetings and stuff so I never really tried it.
XDA folding keyboard
Ive bought a second hand xda folding keyboard that looks like the Stowaway one shown above. Its called a 'Stowaway XT keyboard' and sayes you can use it with XDA and MDA series devices. It didn't come with any drivers. I have an Qtek 2020i (XDA IIi equivialent). What drivers do I need? Would anyone be able to send me a link for it or send them to me direct. Thanks a lot.
Tom
Oh thats solves it
It would appear that all I needed was the standard Stowaway Driver (I assumed that I needed a different driver as its not in the Stowaway/Think Outside range) and also to do the Infrared disabling mentioned above for the other keyboard(this stumped me for a while).
Now that the thing works I can throughly recommend it as a keyboard for built quality, and the fact that it needs no external power and you can charge the device at the same time. I picked it up for £37 all in on ebay. So look there if you need one.
Hello everyone!
I was considering purchasing a new TyTN II, and I was offered an Orange-locked TyTN II, brand new, for 280€ (approx. 300$ I think).
Now given such a VERY low price, is there anything I should be wary of? Might it be a stolen phone? One still under contract (and thus illegal to SIM unlock with the tools on XDA)? Am I purchasing a good phone or should I wait for a price cut on the Touch Pro/Omnia? I am looking at an hybrid entertainment-office machine which can last for years to come (I don't want to change it in just two years! My old Nokia is now well into its sixth year), is the TyTN II what I am looking for?
As I'm expected to give an answer in a few hours, I would be tremendously grateful to any who will answer. Thank you!
Assuming you want the slide out keyboard, I would go with a Touch Pro/Raphael. It is, IMHO, a significant upgrade to the TyTN.

Thank you for your answer, emesbe! Yes, the QWERTY keyboard and GPS are a must, as all I do is texting, reading documents and PDF's, sat nav and of course talking. In short, I don't need a multimedia phone -I don't care about MP3's and videos- but I do need a PPC. I was leaning towards a i780, but now I have this TyTN II brand new for the same price.
I'm on a budget, unfortunately, so the Raphael is totally out of my price range: question is, for €260-280, is the locked TyTN II a good bargain?
Um, anyone, please?
maybe look at discount prices for rapheal. btw you didnt mention who offered you this phone
I did check my local prices, and they are in excess of 680€ ($780 I think); the phone has been offered by a colleague's friend who has just finished her contract.
i reckon just go for it at least you can hold a person responsible if there is a problem if you buy online there just emails to be sent
Is it still in factory-sealed packaging? If not it certainly can't be called new
If it is not, it might be hardly-used and still be a good deal.
Can you take it for a test drive first?
Plug it in to a computer, make sure it gets a good connection and can charge and sync.
While it is plugged in, gently move the USB connector up and down and side to side. If it loses its connection or if the the charge LED goes off, the unit has a bad connector.
Make sure the GPS works -- while connected run the QuickGPS app and make sure it can download and install the latest GPS settings.
Make sure you can connect to a WIFI hotspot.
Test the touch screen -- see if you can find any "dead zones" that don't register a touch.
If all seems well, do some research on the Kaiser forum here -- you'll need to become familiar with the tools used to unlock the phone.
Otherwise the price seems reasonable for a locked phone -- a new unlocked one is going for about $500 now.
Ok I got my tilt, which is TyTN II for about $330. Now it might be expensive to get it from UK, but I just want to throw it out there so you might know.
Also, TyTN II is almost out dated. It might be worth to spend that extra money on Raphael.
Personally i own a kaiser and love it but if i were you, i would look into getting a touch pro or touch hd if you can
I broke the screen on my HTC Touch Pro2. I called Asurion to get a replacement phone. They said the Touch Pro2 wasn't available and that the HTC Imagio XV6975 is the replacement for it.. I told them that I wanted a phone with a slide out keyboard and they offered me a LG fathom. I asked what else was available and they said that those were the only two. I asked if they I didn't want them if they would refund my premiums. They said no and that they would find another phone for me. I told them I needed to think about it.
What can I suggest they give me? It appears they are more flexible than they let on.
Is there a site anywhere that lists what they give out?
It would help if you gave us a bit more info I think. You say that you want a slide out keyboard so that ruled the Imagio out straight away. What is it that the LG Fathom does not provide that the TP2 does for you? This may help us in suggesting better alternatives.
I'm not asking so much for a suggestion for a new phone as I am asking for what I can get out of Asurion.
As for the Fathom. Frankly, it looks ugly.
If they hold me to one of these two phones. What would recommend?
Is texting that difficult with the Iamgio on screen keyboard?
The one must have for me is tethering. I currently us WIFI router. This is the only internet I have at my house and I watch a lot of netflix through tethering the phone to my laptop and the laptop to the TV.
Doesn't the Fathom have a 1ghz snapdragon cpu, world phone capability, 3.5mm jack, and a screen that is nice to use. That cpu alone might make it worth it.
It does have a 1 gig processor and seems to be a good phone. However, it doesn't have Touch Flo 3D. Actually it doesn't have any input overlay on it. It's straight windows, which is boring and not to functional.
Are there a good variety of overlays I could put on it. Even touch flo? My only experience with doing that was with an overlay that looked like the iphone.
I also thought the phone might be worth alot to sell. I'm out of contract right now and can upgrade too.
any update on this? My Touch Pro 2 has been freaking out lately and it's slowly getting worse. I'm not even using Touch Flo, I like the simplicity of the Windows 6.5 interface, and the last update from HTC to upgrade to Touch Flo 2.5 might as well have bricked the phone because it did all but. I've been eyeing the Epic because I need a keyboard but have never tried Android outside of the store models. I'm done with HTC after this phone, the original T-Mo Dash was amazing... then I switched to Sprint with an HTC Mogul, then the Touch Pro, and now the Touch Pro 2... every ... phone... has had the "Suspension of Death" or whatever, where you have to yank the battery out to get device to power off, the you have to put the battery back in and boot it. I'm so tired of this, even the TWO Android phone my friend had encountered the same issue, so it's NOT windows, or the programs I'm installing... Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my HTC phones when they're working correctly... but every time it dies, I want throw it against the wall. So, what other options were you given?
Hello!
I'm in kind of a bind trying to figure out what to do in regards to replacing my smartphone. Around October 2009, I signed a 3 year contract with Telus and obtained an HTC Touch Pro 2. I loved it until I broke it at SeaWorld in Florida.
In June I took it to Telus for repair (where they give it to a 3rd party repair shop here in Nova Scotia). It's been in for repair since then, I still haven't got it back. The only thing that was broken on it was the digitizer (just the glass behind it). Since I put it in, the LCD had to replaced as well for whatever reason, and now the battery is toast. And the thing quote "isn't booting". Because I had the thing flashed to 6.5, they won't honour the warranty, and continue to take their sweet time in repairing it. Eventually I got fed up and borrowed a spare unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9000 from a friend, which I later just bought off him for next to nothing.
Problem I'm having now is the Bold is way too small, and the tiny keyboard is really starting to cramp my hands and give me hand pain, so I want to get something else that's either got a hardware keyboard oriented sideways (landscape), or has a decently sized touch screen. I'd try to get my TP2 back, but I don't really want to deal with the resistive screen or lack of HSPA support now.
I've been looking at following:
HTC HD2: A friend of mine has had one for about a year now - the Telstra version. I can't seem to find a decently priced one though, most of them are well over 700CAD.
HTC HD7: Same deal as the HD2, it's really expensive, even used.
Samsung Galaxy S: This one looks the most promising, as most of them are around $400 used and even new. After some searching on these boards, I found some information regarding how awful they are... at least with the software. If it's just software issues that are fixable myself by replacing Samsung's crap software, I can deal with that.
BlackBerry Torch: I'd probably exclusively use the touchscreen keyboard due to the hardware one being as awful as the Bold's. I'd rather not bother with another BlackBerry though.
LG Quantum: I've had bad luck with LG products in the past (namely DVD drives eating discs and spitting out shards), and it looks a bit small. Bell never has them to try near me.
If there's a handset that fits what I'm looking for that I didn't think of, let me know. Thanks for any help given!
I Like Galaxy Series
I haven't had any experience with the other phones you mentioned, so my recommendation is completely biased.
I have a Samsung Captivate. I rooted it just yesterday (sick and tired of playing the "oh it'll be just a few more days" and the end of those few days never comes - Rath to AT&T and Samsung for this) and flashed an Android 2.2. ROM. Before this phone, I had a Blackberry Bold 9000, loved that phone....until I got my hands on the Samsung!
Things to watch out for with Samsung - just expect to do your own software updates. Sometimes I've experienced issues with the "Back" button 'sticking' (although that has improved since rooting and flashing 2.2). GPS doesn't work that great until you get 2.2. Battery dies fast - an app called "Juice Defender" (Available on the Market) helps me a lot with that.
Some pros: The screen is fabulous, I love watching YouTube and other various videos online with it. It's easy to connect to any WiFi and automagically knows which WiFi to connect with. It's fast (and faster after 2.2). I LOVE SWYPE (keyboard input method) you can't get that on any phone other than Samsung - it really IS FASTER for texting and e-mailing etc.
So those are my unofficial, biased thoughts. Good luck with your decision.
I vote for Leo as you can have Android running also and soon perhaps WP7
Yes it´s hard to get a Telstra version on a good price, I am looking for one too...
Don't get the Torch, I had one and it was a horrible disappointment. Touchscreen interface is terrible, the device is very cheap feeling, and the OS itself is still miles behind Android and iOS.
If I were you I would do with either a Galaxy S with a custom ROM, or a HD2 with NAND Android. I have used both, currently use Android NAND on the HD2, and love it.
I've recently got a new Desire HD and retired my HD2
now I'm in the process of choosing the right accessorise for it.
I found this 3 different dual docks and I can't decide which to buy.
If any of you have bought them already your advice would be most welcomed.
this one has only two pin's and the battery has four so I'm not sure if this would even work properly:
1. http://cgi.ebay.com/AC-USB-Dock-Bat...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item41579e51c3
I used dock like this both for my previous HTC HD and HD2 so I know they usually ok + you get a additional battery (although it's obviously a fake, but on the other hand every battery on ebay is and I'll still need to buy one) + EU charger (in my case I need it)
2. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Battery-Cra...724883?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a0eba6c53
newer had this one, but I like it the most and I'm interested mostly in it.
3. http://cgi.ebay.com/KiDiGi-2nd-Batt...630327?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4aa567e8b7
If you have any other suggestion, please feel free to say. I'll be ordering the dock in a day or two.
I had the first one, the quality was absolutely terrible. The rubbers weren't all the same size so it was very unstable. On top of that the usb connector was too far up which means that my phone would hang a little bit to the left, because the USB port on the phone is not in the middle. And to top it all off it was pretty hard to remove the phone from the cradle which means you need to hold it down firmlly with 1 hand and remove it with the other.

waiting for your media dock... that sounds interesting
I got the last one. It is the same like from Adapt desire HD cradle. ( only brand is different, the rest remains the same).
I have the one with extra battery charger. It works fine.
It is a tight fit, but have no complains about it. You get two extra micro usb cables with it ( one for pc and one for extra charging).
Quality is fine, no high tech but it looks nice.
Thanks. I'm definately leaning toward that cradle. Can you put a link to where from you got yours?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I got mine from a Belgian / Holland-Netherlands shop. Its called www.padashop.nl or www.padashop.be
Its more expensive on the shop where i bought it. But they have a very good delivery service, i have it always the next day ( Belgium ofcourse).
Don't know if they ship to all countries but you can check it.
