Anyway to stop ROMs re-installing? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hi there all, firstly, i have tried the search button and found nothing, i am having a little problem with everytime i soft reset or turn off my phone the rom re-installs and i have to go through importing sim contacts data setup etc all again.
It also deletes any apps i've installed and its getting me slightly miffed.
I am using 6.5 TPC V11 Mega WWE rom (however whatever rom i flash it does the same) radio 1.70.19.09 (again I have tried various radios) and various HardSPLs - currently using 3.29 i believe.
Is there something the matter with my internal memory maybe? i know sometimes whenh it reboots it tries to load into windows again but gets errors such as "bars.cab failed to install"
SO guys any ideas, i know it will probably be an easy fix!
Thankyou in advance
Paul

well this is the wrong place to have posted this but try this and see if it helps
1. try flashing via sd card and not usb cable, and vice versa.(see sticky to guide u thru sd card flash process
2. try flashing stock rom
see if that helps

If a problem with a ROM ask/report in ROM thread, the F.A.Q's at the start of threads cover the hard-reseting issues with 6.5 ROMs.

Timewizard Notification Error

Everytime i boot my phone (Blackdiamond 1.0) i get a timewizard error, and it wont go away. I had blackdiamond 3.1 installed, and i couldn't put up with the missed calls and not being able to hang up. So i decided to go back to tmobile 2.6, and thats when i started getting the timewizard error. So then i decided to install blackdiamond 1.0 and now i can't even align the screen because the error comes up. Any ideas? possibly a rom that cleans everything out.
anyone know such a rom?
Sounds like a bad flash. Remove your storage card and reflash T-Mobile 2.26 ROM again.
I recommend this ROM

This is my third flash after the error, still no solution. The phone is overwhelmed with errors such as the one mentioned above, the rest are ***.exe not being able to open errors. Any other idea's would be helpful, thanks!
Please guys, i know the answer is out there in one of you. Please help, i don't have any spare phones :-(
BD 1.0 is a little old
People use to install new ROMS so the problems are better handled
To clean your PDA - Install Tmobile 2.26 (search around here or ... hold on .... Get it here)
Than install any ROM you like I would advise to go with any TNT ROM. I've put this (I don't know any better http mirror)
Don't forget to Hard-Reset the wizard after each ROM update
PS:I've tried BD3.1 but i had almost the same issues as you.
Aldo
hey aldo, thanks for the post. I have installed tmobile 2.26 rom multiple times, it just gives me a bunch of .exe missing errors and my phone is really slow. I looked through the directories with file explorer and most of the files are still there, they have not deleted. Any ideas?
Thanks
a little update
the timewizard notification error went away after installing tmobile 2.26, but i still had a lot of ____.exe errors. I used the file explorer to the startup folder under windows and found a lot of broken shortcuts to programs. The tmobile 2.26 rom must have removed the programs, but it left behind a very slow phone and a bunch of broken short cuts. Any way to fix this?
Thanks
Hmmm....
It sounds to me you have not hard-reseted your wizard.
Try a hard reset with the TMO 2.26 ROM on it.
PS:
Hard reset sequence:
Press VoiceDial button + comms manager button + soft reset.
You will get a screen with 3 colored bars; at this screen, press the D-Pad UP.
(some other version will display a message saying to restore to factory default settings, press the 'Send' button. In this case, press your 'Send'/'Call' button).

stuck after update failure

Was installing duttys rom when my anti-virus program started. Update failed and since then all I see is the tri-colour screen. Sometimes I can get the rom updater to recognise my TyTNII but it will not continue to upgrade. Any suggestions. Have tried mtty1.42 but it doesn't seem to have a usb port option, have tried hard reset etc with no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
An update, I have tried several rom updates since, most get to the stage where the progress bar is shown and the stop. The HTC update to revert to shipped rom gets to 1% and then tells me that this rom is not suitable for my pda!
How about some more information...
What is your Tytn II - Tilt or HTC?
What Rom was on it before you tried upgrading?
What Radio was on it before you tried upgrading?
What version of Duttys did you try to flash?
Did you upgrade to HardSPL before you tried flashing?
This should enable someone to begin trying to unbrick your phone.
Also DO NOT USE MTTY unless you know what you are doing - it can seriously kill your Tytn if used incorrectly. Wait for GSLEON3 to swing by before trying this - but he's very busy at the moment helping others unbrick their toys so you may have to wait for a while.
If you had an original rom/radio from AT&T or HTC it shouldn't hurt trying to download an original rom and try to flash - preferably using your SD card.
Also, while you're waiting for someone to help, have a good read through the Kaiser Wiki (in my signature) before trying anything else.
what are the steps that u take? let us know if u are missing any
HTC TyTN 11, Was using Q-mobile 1.2 but couldn't install tom tom navigator 6, don't know what radio it was using because i hadn't got that far. Thanks for your help, I tried one of the roms indicated and it worked! I have spent so much time reading various wikis and downloading files. I'm not entirely sure why it worked this time but I'm not about to ask questions! Thanks again!
OK, now you've got your phone working again, make sure that you get HardSPL installed before you try anymore flashing.

Universal No GSM Problem

Hi All,
It had been a long time that i have been trying to solve the 'No GSM' problem.
My device is O2 xda Exec, but strangely it started to show no sim card and then showing No GSM on the boot screen.
I had tried various ROMS by our friends, but no one is able to sort out this problem. Now i am really tired of it.
If anyone can help, knows any method to sort this out, any clues, i will be very happy.
i have the same problem.....
i had flash several rom's, but i cant flash radio rom as i show in this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457873
Try flashing back to the original factory ROM pack, it comes with everything in one upgrade package, so it will flash your ROM, Radio and Extended ROM at once. Trying cooked ROMs will not solve it, simply because they don't come with Radio as a general rule, so if you are missing a Radio, flashing a developed ROM will not add one.
Alternatively, of course, it may indicate problems with your main board that simply no longer reads your SIM.
i don't know the original rom version of it.
i had tried 2 original Imate WWE roms and it stucks at 0% at flashing radio rom. i instead it, i flash the rom and extrom separately several times, with severak versions, and the only problem is flashing the radio rom.
the device works properly, except GSM. the wifi and BT turns on and off. (no other devices to have comunicate)
i tried also sim "unlock" (it is already unlocked from factory) and i have the "success" message, then tried to flash radio rom, but unsuccessful.
then i did a rom backup from other device (Orange SPVM500 brand) to sd card and then restore to Jasjam, but shows "error ID"
then, i tried to backup the entire rom from itself to SD and restore it again, but the commands seems to not work.
then a did a upgrade bootloader (because it stucked at bootloader) even using UNI_bootloader EXIT.exe
i have no more ideas, then have it a large hammer!

SIM is due for replacement?
i tried 2 sim card's from 2 different operators.
actually it is without sim card, but shows the "NO GSM" at start up.
on past Saturday, my other pda (old HTC BLUEANGEL) had a freeze on receiving a call (i must reset it 4 times) then i made a call and nothing happened after that.
very strange.
i tried also backup a rom from the device to sd card and shows me an error (error = FF) on mtty1[1].42
i do the operation successfully on my other htc.
i read that sometimes take out and plug in the batery several times, works...
mine dont.
Try this it worked for me.....
Most of the ROM you update only have the nk.nbf (OS ROM) but don't have ms_.nbf (Extended ROM), radio_.nbf (Radio ROM). so you should upgraded the radio_.nbf manually.. and the problem should me solved..... so simply download any new Radio version in my case 1.17.XX and copy the file radio_.nbf (Radio ROM) in to the ROM update folder . Enter boot screen and update... the problem should be solved.... have a look at following link as welll... might be helpful...

I too have the "NO GSM" issue, and have noticed that most cases are associated with the o2 Exec; as is mine. I'm also missing my IMEI in 'device information'. I think the issue may have something to do with the CID lock originally found in the o2 Exec. I too have tried almost anything and have heard the original ROM is the only way back (which I don't have). However, I believe that an SD upload/download of a radio ROM may be a possible solution. The trick is getting the 'header' of the "to be downloaded" radio ROM to match up with the device. This is where I'd left off on trying to fix my device...I don't know how to edit the ROM's header and save, so that I may download via SD card...any help would be much appreciated...
Its a HW problem...
what do you mean by sd upload/download of rom ????

You can find more information in the forum adout downloading by SD card. Tomal has an SD ROM tool; or you could try the service manual...Either way, I cannot seem to get an SD download to work because of a fixed CID lock; this was confirmed through MTTY. However, I believe if I clone the header (acceptable to the device) into the "new" radio ROM; my device should be able to update. If it doesn't, I feel I could then confidently believe that the issue is in the hardware...'til then...
Can anyone out there help me with this, PLEASE!!!
So try unlockind your device to make it SuperCID

Tilt Flashing Issue, this is a repost

Hey Guys,
First off this is a re-post, me old thread was closed, I am sorry for reopening but I am still having this issue. DaveShaw and smokestack76 had posted. Dave thank you for your reply but I have been through the noob flash guide and many many many other threads and it does not resolve my issue.
I'm not new to flashing and roms, I have flashed at least 100 times and have done some cooking. Had the random stuck in bootloader that wouldn't resolve itself today (using 3.29) Loaded kaisdiagsd.nbh and flashed stock att rom. (probably should have gone right for the spl patch but I was frustrated and needed my phone) Boot loader is now v3.65
Flashed fine, reboot, same issue. Phone will now only load the stock 6.1 att rom from the micro sd. kaisdiagsd.nbh is stuck on loading as for all other roms. I can occassionally get the os to load using mtty. From there tried jumpspl and it would not connect via usb at all.
I have tried flashing spl from the sd and yes spl image was KAISIMG.nbh and KAISDIAG.nbh was on there as well. Card is formatted fat32. HardSPL would start, read the file and get stuck on loading.
When in the stock 6.1 os I get the old unrecognized usb device in both xp and vista.
Is there anything else I can do to reflash spl? All i can think of is trying the task 2a, wiping everything and trying to flash from diag but I don't even want to try that route without something solid in place.
The phone is 2 years old, upgrading when the touch pro 2 hits att in aug sept or whenever it is released, but I need my phone.
I have gone through many many many posts. I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated.
I have the stock 6.1 att rom up right now but I would like to resolve the issue.

finally finally got the patched version of 3.29 flashed. I will let you guys know how it goes from here. I am on a different computer at work.
Success!
I started from complete scratch and a fresh brain and was able to get everything going.
After I got the os back up i was able to start jumpspl and get it to connect via usb. Then only the force usb on 3.29 patch would work. After that repaired active sync and I was ready to go. Thanks smokestack79 for the late night help last night. I was out of it and frustrated. Seems like she's got a little more life in her after all.

SD Flash stuck at white "Loading..." screen

So, got my self in a bit of trouble today, here's the situation:
- Recently flashed TPC v11 Mega Edition, and had been using it for about a week. Ran across some problems with apps freezing, so I decided I should try to start fresh and reflash a stock ROM.
- Reflashed AT&T Tilt stock ROM (3.57.502.2) via my SD card (my USB is not working, and hasn't in a while).
- Flash seemed like it was going great, but when the phone rebooted the TPC ROM was still there, yet it showed an older radio had been flashed (1.27.14.09)
- Knowing that this wasn't a good situation, I thought I'd try to reflash again via the USB. Began the process, except this time the flash process was now stuck at white "Loading..." screen.
- Thinking it was possibly a issue with my SD Card, I tried reformatting the card with FAT32 and recopying the KAISDIAG.nbh and ROM. Didn't work
- Tried copying a different ROM (TCP V11, a new RADIO, HardSPL 334... didn't work)
Unfortunately, since my USB doesn't work, I don't have an alternative way to flash the device. Surprisingling the TPC v11 ROM and the old RADIO seem to function somewhat, so the device is usable, although it seems as if I'm now stuck with this ROM for good. Also, audio seems not to function now... an unfortunately side effect. I can only assume this is related to the old Radio.
Any ideas as to why my flashing issue might be? ...thanks in advance.
Please consult STICKYs.
Several ways to get around this:
Put the phone into bootloader flash via SD or even computer as dosn't need to sync when in bootloader.
The issue you have with sound is that the stock ROM has a radio so therefore you now have an old radio.
To Flash via SD the ROM file name is KAISIMG.nbh.
Hope this helps any more problems please use a thread already available [Resources] Flashing Your First Kaiser Rom (For Noobs)
