I cannot find a working copy of TCPMP for my HTC Pure. I tried using the one from my Fuze (VGA) which will not work with the Pure (WVGA). Can someone please help with a media player that works with WVGA screen that is free like TCPMP? Thanks!
What version did you use? Try using another one I have had no problems with TCPMP.
It was version 0.72 RC1
I deleted that cab, which I used for a long time, and downloaded a new one from the forum and it seems to work now. I don't know what the malfunction was.
It's something with WVGA and DirectDraw if I remember right, you have to set video mode to RawBuffer to get the video to work. RawBuffer looks like **** anyway so I either use CorePlayer to play non-encoded videos or the in-built media player which play encoded .mp4 videos beautifuly.

I dont think that Windows Media player that comes with WM6.1 supports it.
Your best bet is to get a media player, something like CorePlayer (not free) or TCPMP (free).
thanks st, but which version of tcpmp do you recommend,...? i just installed v.72rc and it gave me an error message,... what do you think about v.71,...?

Read through everything on this site, very detailed by the way and thank you, but there is no information about why TCPMP won't run on the Touch Pro which I believe is what the issue was in the first place.
Seems to be a common issue without resolution. I wonder if someone as knowledgable as yourself could suggest a fix, or another freeware program that would do something similar. Seems from your article though that there are no better programs except CorePlayer which is basically TCPMP v.80 instead of v.72 right? So a fix would be helpful.
Most TCPMP links seem to be broken, but I have found a couple that are still legit. The reason the program is crashing is because we've downloaded a faulty program. My old .cab file of v.72 works just fine with my Touch Pro.
... according to these guys anyways. I didn't find any news about this either in Coreplayers forums or via Google.

Really though, there's been tons of talk about Coreplayer on HD2 and even aload of benchmarks. It works fine.

Erm...am I being dumb? I can't get video to play in CorePlayer on my HD2, what's the correct setting I need?
Thanks a million!
Update: Don't worry, I think I sussed it out. I've set it to GDI and smooth zoom to on and it seems to have done it. Looks absolutely amazing!

No problems here
Im running version 1.3.5 without problems, been using the same release on all my PPC models
Could someone with good benchmarks post his settings?
I've tried GDI and Direct draw it works but a/v is asyncron after a while.
I tried Divx Mpeg Mp4 and Mkv Files.
Works fine here, with GDI and RawBuffer settings.
Both performance and quality suck when playing MPEG-4 files though; haven't tried any other formats, but the videos I encode render much better in HTC Album and WMP than in CorePlayer.
Help!
Please, let me know what I have to do in order to make core player 1.3.6 plays all videos CP 1.3. 0 played without any problem on my blackstone ...

I couldn't originally use 0.72 as it crashed every time I ran it. That version worked a treat, but I've since shelled out for CorePlayer and that really is VERY good. Worth the money, in my opinion.

There is a tvu player application but you need the right TCPMP player with it.
I could get it working on my old HD some time ago but it was kinda laggy. Maybe with the hd2 it will be better

This is the job thanks worked a charm
There's already a sort of thread like this.
Here you go: CABS included for TVU and TCPMP
Works on HD2.
So please is TVU Player really working on HD2 ?
My problem is that the channel list is displayed but when i click on a channel nothing happens ?
Many thanks
I have looked on these and other forums for a working cab of the htc youtube from the touch hd or the blackstone that works on the TG01 but haven't manage to find a working one. I installed the latest certs and htc framework but still cannot play video. It a shame as the quality of the videos is really good. I remember when I had my blackstone the quality on the wvga screen was fab on the tg01 is got to be smoother and better hey?
If someone has ported this can you be so kind to point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance guys
143 views and nobody can point me to a working version?
Please guys, google youtube is crap. Interface and quality are dreadful.
I have tried the touch hd it version but it doesnt even install. What are the things that I need?
Thanks all in advance
In CorePlayer theres YouTube supports, just change the setting to hight quality and you are set to go.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I know that, the version that I have of core player is the original one that comes with the rom. I have upgraded to the newer version but felt it was too slow and benchmarked a lot less that the original one. Unfortunatly the original version does not have the youtube feature working. I still think that the videos look a lot better and the UI is much nicer with the HTC version. I have tried the TP2 version but it doesn't work either. Do I need anything else installed apart from the HTC framework and the certs do you think? It all installs fine and shows the videos but when I try to play them it says that the videos cannot be played error. Again, thanks for replying.

I don't know what to say but omg. How did you get this ?!! I've been looking everywhere for a youtube app after trying MVU Mobile Browser and youtubeplayer. I looked on youtube and kept saying your device isn't supported (TG01). Google didn't return any results for any youtube native apps for windows mobile.
I've installed it and honestly didn't expect it to work, but it does! The only problem is though is that since youtube have updated their mobile website, the quality is much better than what is streamed on the native apps, such as the one I've just downloaded from your post. There doesn't appear to be a HQ button on the app so I guess it's streaming from 3GP.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for posting this. Hopefully, it will be a long while yet before Windows Mobile is actually abandoned, even though various sources state that development has come to an end for the platform.
BTW, Youtubeplayer doesn't work for me either, hence why I started to use MVU Mobile Browser as my youtube FLV downloader - playback still doesn't seem to work in coreplayer

Officially confirmed from COREPLAYER that Google has changed anything on Youtube and after that, COREPLAYER can't play Youtube videos. They say that next Coreplayer release will fix it (paying?? )
http://forum.corecodec.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2746&p=11146&hilit=youtube+fails#p11146
I've downloaded the last official Youtube app for WM
Only avilable from the phone: http://m.youtube.com/app , and I also think that quality image has been improved, but not for all the videos (I can't understand why...). Besides, looks great on our big screen!!
So, I've just deleted youtubeplay from my device and perhaps Coreplayer will be the next, as I prefer TCPMP
(On the other hand if you have your own videos on Youtube, you can watch them easily with the new app. Not possible with Youtubeplay)

Thanks, and does youtube work on the lastest version? Cheers
P.S. I can't believe we have to pay to upgrade coreplayer!! Even though it comes free with the phone. I have a good mind not to bother to be honest because I'd rather support the developers here than let coreplayer have my money. Problem is though, it seems google keep changing the way video is streamed on their servers all the time, causing playback issues with our software.
