Confused with terminology - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hi all, Apologies if this is in the wrong area?
ive a little confused when people are referring to "full access to paid apps" is this meant you can access the apps you have paid for prior to the rom update? Or apps on the marketplace that cost can be downloaded for free?

It means apps which you have to pay for.
And yes, this is in the wrong sub forum.

it means that you can pay and download them from the market. some region blocks certain paid apps so you cannot download them. so if u have full access to paid apps it means there is no blocks and you can buy any you want.
its nothing about downloading for free though.

Ah right thats great thanks to you both for clearing that up

On my Magic 32A in Denmark, Im able to install paid apps i ALLDREADY paid for. The game I bought when I was on another rom(with MarketEnabler) was Robo Defense full. After I switched back to original rom(some months ago) I wasnt able to install it.

If you have Jf v 1.42 can you purchase games/apps?? or get them free??

hey if you have hacked or have gotten root in the g1 can you payy for aps or games?
aslo can you get them free like in the itouch/iphone??
You can buy apps (Currently). No piracy here, though. There are rumors about them disabling some apps for root users, but I doubt it'll come to that.
i bought snap photo pro because I support this app and this was on JF 1.141 rc 33 so I see no problem downloading.
one thing I have noticed and I have not see it on the board, but if you do a wipe, then your installed apps do not appear. I think that google needs to put the information in the "cloud."
you can buy apps, installed PAID and FREE appd what u wont be able.. is see PROTECTED apps..

[Q] Market and Tegra Games

I have tried everything I can find, the tegra games just do not show up at all. Market is REALLY limited (Korea, so basically no games, on my SGS Market Enabler fixed that fine). I've tried all alternative markets with no luck, getJar was the only one to show it but just linked to the market.
I've tried proxy, it seems to have given me the US market (at least things look different), but the tegra games (just want to try the free ones to see how it is) don't show up. If I use the link from the tegra app it gives me the download option but says not available on my carrier (without using proxy it tells me not available in my country). I tried using market enabler and proxy, but still the same message (tried a few different options).
Please help, this is unbelievably irritating.
Have you tried market enabler on your TF? I don't see why it wouldn't work. Have you tried looking in your build.prop? There maybe a way to change what your location is.
if you are rooted you can flash a US version of the device.

Does noone actually read before they respond?
@SwiftLegend Yes I tried Market Enabler, I only mentioned using it twice in 7 sentences.
@ThEiiNoCeNT Besides the fact that it is a US Transformer, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with my problem. You obviously have no idea how Market works, and should probably refrain from answering questions related to things you do not understand.
The Tegra apps are in the NVIDIA TegraZone Market app

wow, you're so nice.

Plan a vacation to a country which is already supported by the market, say japan, and download to your heart's content free and paid apps from the market.

Didn't see that. Since you wanna be nasty, I have a simple solution for you, move someplace else. (had a nastier way of saying this that involved a few curses, but i decided not to say it.)

Great answer, unfortunately not a valid one since South Korea is on both of those lists.
Turns out, proxy lets me see games (games are blocked here, unless they've gone through the Korean rating system) but downloading any of them gives the same "Not available on your carrier." which is better than before getting "Not available in your country." at least.
I got it to work. First I stopped Market and cleared all data/cache for it, then I removed all google accounts and turned off any location finding services. Then I turned on orbot (Tor) using strict exit nodes (a list of US exit nodes that I put in). Started Market up entered my google account when prompted, and I had full access... slow as hell, but was able to get anything I wanted downloaded. Will probably need to repeat for any updates, but it works.
I really don't see the point of restricting games and apps by countries. It works back when movies and music need local distributor and it is a way of giving them exclusive rights. Now everything could be done through the internet bypassing these third parties. So what is the reason they are limiting them by countries?
Please correct me if I'm wrong OP, but i think they do it as a means of censoring which games are allowe into the country, possibly filtering out violent, or other parts of games, or maybe its just a more strict version of the ESRB, so little kiddies dont get games they shouldn't get, or there may be a way of fining people who distribute it to them?
Actually, it's just that Google doesn't support purchasing apps in certain countries. If anyone remembers, you had to donate to the dev of LauncherPro Plus via paypal, and then he'd give you a code to use to unlock it in the app itself, because Spain wasn't supported. Think it has to do with currency conversions, and Google not being big enough yet for countries to accept them. If you think about it, having a 1 USD app costing 1072 Korean Won is kinda unfair looking.

It's really simple, they haven't gone through the Korean version of the ESRB and therefore are not allowed to be distributed. Which effectively means only Korean ones (also have their own app store, in addition to the official one) can be sold in Korea.

Korea is one of the supported countries, so not sure how that applies here. Having a 1USD app cost 1072 KRW is perfectly fair (in reality and looks), that's what 1USD is worth (give or take).

New Angry Birds with Mighty Eagal

Not sure if this does anyone any good, but if you want it, here is the new Angry Birds featuring in-app purchase of the Mighty Eagle and in-app purchase to remove ads ($1 each I'm told).
Downloaded from the T-Mobile store. It is free, so I am hoping it is ok to post here. LINK
It may not be of any use to non-tmobile people as I'm not sure if the in-app purchases work on other networks. At least it saves TMobile people the trouble of going to the stupid T-Mobile app store webpage (which just says page not found if you are on WiFi... took me forever to guess that was the problem after getting the TXT link).
EDIT: Don't waste your time if you are not T-Mobile... I copied the .apk to my WiFi only tablet and the eagle option is not there at all, it looks just like the one from market. I even installed it twice and verified the version number is the same as my phone (v1.6.3). I haven't tried using market enabler on my tablet to fake TMobile, but that's about all I can think of. Maybe a dev sees this and is willing to hack the APK so all can enjoy the Eagal and feather goals? I'm not going to buy it since I never play on my phone. I sure wish there was a way to play the new stuff on my tablet, even if I had to pay a buck.
EDIT2: Hey, what do you know. Installing MarketEnabler (free in market) and faking T-Mobile actually worked! It now shows the Eagle button. However, when you try to purchase it says: "Device Error, Try restarting phone." (as expected).
i thought u posted the new mighty eagle, nevermind. thanks anyways, works for me i'm on TMOBILE.
Thanks. I couldn't get it to download with the link they sent me even without wifi. It kept saying my phone wasn't compatible (G2). I don't know if it is the MIUI browser that it doesn't recognize or what but it works great with this download.
Not on T-mobile or want Mighty eagle for free then click on this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727857

[Q] Paid apps on new phone

If I change my windows phone with another one, will my paid apps be available on the new phone to download without paying again?

Your apps are associated to your windows live account. So changing phone should not be a problem.

As long as you use the same Live ID, you will get them again without paying. When you go to Marketplace, go to your purchased app, click buy, it will verify that you bought it and say 'You've already purchased this app, do you want to reinstall it?' - say yes!
You can also see a list of your purchased apps (and reinstall them) using the Marketplace website.
You dont have to pay for the apps you already bought if you use the same Live id. To make it easy, use the Reinstaller app for Windows Phone http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/b9d1115b-2c0d-4e5d-afc6-fa6dcd84dda4
Well..i never bought the paid apps, there were some deals with free for 2 days and i purchased them then. Now, they cost, i thought i could reinstall them on my new phone but it says i have to buy..
Apps are purchased by their ID, a GUID that every app has. It's possible that the free apps you "bought" were using different GUIDs than the normal Marketplace ones. In that case, you can try checking the Marketplace website for the list of apps that you previously installed and try reinstalling the free ones, but if they've taken the copies with the other GUID off of the Marketplace, you won't be able to get them again.
It sucks, I know. The backup/migrate/restore story on WP7 is really bad. I actually raised this issue with Microsoft several times (both as "we need this" and as "this is a reason to no block high-privilege homebrew code; we could do this for you" and received no meaningful response except for one guy I know who works there saying "yeah, this is an issue, but it's not in my area; I sent it on to the right people."
