If you have Jf v 1.42 can you purchase games/apps?? or get them free?? - G1 Android Development

hey if you have hacked or have gotten root in the g1 can you payy for aps or games?
aslo can you get them free like in the itouch/iphone??

You can buy apps (Currently). No piracy here, though. There are rumors about them disabling some apps for root users, but I doubt it'll come to that.

i bought snap photo pro because I support this app and this was on JF 1.141 rc 33 so I see no problem downloading.
one thing I have noticed and I have not see it on the board, but if you do a wipe, then your installed apps do not appear. I think that google needs to put the information in the "cloud."

you can buy apps, installed PAID and FREE appd what u wont be able.. is see PROTECTED apps..

Installing paid apps on JF dev 1.1

Hi
I have noticed on the android market page that apps are not available to download with a fee e.g.
http://www.android.com/market/paid.html#app=guitarhero
however i'm on dev 1.1 in the uk and have tried the text number with no success. am i doing something wrong? or is there another way?
Issues:
1. AFAIK, paid apps are not available at all outside the US. This is filter via sim card. I might be wrong with the UK though.
2. Dev phones (IE any ADP release so far) has been filter from being able to buy 'copy protected' paid apps. Only non protected paid apps will show up in the market. This is mainly because google dropped the ball big time and has yet to fix it. This is my theory on why ADP1.1 Official is yet to be released, as they are trying to figure out a better strategy than a simple folder that non root (ie non ADP phones) users do not have access to eek.
So, basically I think you are screwed on both counts
However, it does seem that rooted RC33s can see paid apps without issue, and the market only filters (possibly) based on the release Keys.
Perhaps we could resign the JF ADP1.1 Holiday images with the RC33 keys, and thus be able to have full market access and not be second class citizens. Any one think of why that does not work?
I heard UK and the rest of the countries will be getting the market. Just not yet, they are testing it out first in U.S.A.
Sometime in March it'll be open to you guys.

Confused with terminology

Hi all, Apologies if this is in the wrong area?
ive a little confused when people are referring to "full access to paid apps" is this meant you can access the apps you have paid for prior to the rom update? Or apps on the marketplace that cost can be downloaded for free?
It means apps which you have to pay for.
And yes, this is in the wrong sub forum.
it means that you can pay and download them from the market. some region blocks certain paid apps so you cannot download them. so if u have full access to paid apps it means there is no blocks and you can buy any you want.
its nothing about downloading for free though.
Ah right thats great thanks to you both for clearing that up
On my Magic 32A in Denmark, Im able to install paid apps i ALLDREADY paid for. The game I bought when I was on another rom(with MarketEnabler) was Robo Defense full. After I switched back to original rom(some months ago) I wasnt able to install it.

[Q] Some apps don't show up in market

I'm looking for several apps in the marketplace. I know they exist but they don't show up. I have a Samsung Captivate, rooted and running the lag fix and gps fix. I have run the market access app to emulate several other market places T-mobile, Verizon, Sprint etc.
For example, I cannot find paintshop pro, Logmein Ignition, or Caligo chasers. I have heard that some apps might not be available to rooted phones but to me that doesn't make sense. Excluding apps from the market literally forces you to pirate them because they cannot be legitimately purchased from the market.
Is my phone being excluded because it's rooted or could there be some other problem?
Is there a workaround
It seems that after a bit of research that I can see that google has made rooted phones unable to see protected apps. There must be some workaround for this, I cannot imagine all the rooted android users just not having access to large quantities of great apps.
My rom might be the problem
Upon further investigation it appears that my particular rom, and not the fact that I am rooted, might be to blame. Does anyone know how to hide my rom from the market or if I can access the market in a way that will make the market think I am using a different rom.
no work around?
does anyone have an Idea about how to work around this? I seem ro be missing out on some great apps.
Figured I would post in here instead of starting a new thread since this pertains to my question/issue.
I have a Samsung Vibrant running on SoftBank(Japan) network. I rooted and had initially loaded up Bionix Fusion JACs Kernel(TeamWiskey) ROM and was able to download Angry Birds off of the Market. I then wanted to try out Frankin-Twiz (Eugene373) ROM, after I loaded the ROM I went to the Market to find Angry Birds and it wasnt there. This was the only App that I know for sure that I couldn't get after loading the new ROM.. there might be others, I just cant say what they are.
So it is defiantly a ROM issue. Anyone have any ideas why?
try market enable which is available in the market. but i think u also need to root your phone to use it

Ended up just getting AppBrain instead of using Googles Market.. seems to have all the same apps with less hassle.

Am I missing something- Market/few apps??

For some reason in my market there are almost no apps. I only see "top free apps" in any category, not like a huge list of apps im used to on my phone.
I look at the compatible apps for the TF on here but yet im unable to install any of them or even find them. No skype, friendcaster, and others..
Apps I thought I'd be able to easily get, i cant
Im on the latest OTA and not rooted. Anyone care to explain?
I had this before my self. I really dont know why...but i got it fixed by rooting it and installed it with Prime rom.
..i stopped asking why it happened
When you say you can't find Skype and Friendcaster, are you saying even when you search you don't find them? Or do you just mean you can't find them when browsing categories?
I would say that finding apps by the categories is not great. But I can find the apps you're talking about if I search by name.
Correct. Before I rooted, I wasnt able to see every app under "social"- then the sub category of "top free apps". I would just see the 8 and not able to click all free apps.
I went to the google market on the internet and found friendcaster but said the transformer was not compatible.
Once I rooted though, I was able to see a bunch more apps. Honestly- i couldnt even see the other versions of angry birds, only angry birds rio because it was on the top free apps list in the home screen.

I got prime 1.8 with HC 3.2 running. I belief 3.0 and 3.1 HC didnt have the update for non tablet apps compability mode. Meaning that google market prevent u downloading it.
Just root and flash prime1,8 or revolver rom2.5. Any rom with HC 3.2 on it. u will see the apps ill be back and u have the compatibility options for non tabet apps.
gl!

[Q] Any ideas?

So, I don't mind paying for the apps but I think here in Serbia we are unable to do so on google play. The reason is unknown to me.
I found out about Playstation 1 emulators and decided to check if I could play some on my phone (ZTE Mimosa Mini/Telenor Touch Mini, 670Mhz, 256 RAM, qvga 2.8" (240x320) ) and went to google play. Unfortunately ps1 emulators are paid apps, and I would pay but like I said from where I am I can't. Right now talking about FPse emulator. So I go online and find apk install it on my phone but it has to go through licence verification process. I look up a little better on the net and it says I have to use lucky patcher, which I can't use because my phone is not rooted (I want to root it, but every method I tried doesn't work, so I guess it's impossible). Never mind FPse then, there is ePSXe app, but also paid. I found it through apptoide and google but it asks me if I want to install it, I say yes and after few second I get Application Not Installed.
So my questions are:
Is there a way to bypass licence verification on FPse on unrooted phone?
What could be a problem with ePSXe?
I checked .android_security folder and there is no that file that can make problems, also I formated SD card and completely wiped everything from my phone, then did factory reset, but still can't install... Perhaps compatibility issues?
or you could try to find a playstation emulator in the 'SlideME Market' where you are able to pay with paypal. ?
Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G using xda app-developers app
I've been informed that paypal is also unavailable for us...
P.S.
Just googled it and it says:
Form the PayPal company they said that the date we are going to get it is not even close...
I think we had it before, but of course we had to cheat and steal so we got kicked out...
