I was just over at ppckitchen, and read about mxip_notify.vol growing out of control if you get a ton of email notifications. Check to see if you have any databases that are out of whack (use total commander and view hidden files). SK Tools is also helpful for clearing storage memory.
i found it in the end... it was some opera downloads that is whacks in its own folder...
took ages to find but used something called spacefinder plus that only has a trial until november..

Hey I've used up around 6GB on my MotoG(including cache and all files and folders) but the settings>storage tab shows that I've used 8GBs and there's only 5 GB free(12.92 GB usable)
I've used several 3rd party apps to check this. Attached screenshot.
A factory reset did solve the problem but when I copied all files again, the same thing happened. Does anyone else have this problem? Please check.
To be precise, the difference was around 2GB before factory reset, now it's 1.7.

There are some folders that are not counted in to neither groups for some reason. If you move your files to "native" folders like Music, Movies, etc, then the counters will show the correct size. Not a big deal, but it's disturbing sometimes I agree.

No but the thing is that when I selected all folders and opened properties, using es explorer, the total size shown was 5.5gb as opposed to 7gb that it shows as occupied. There are no hidden folders. So where'd the space go?
oh I thought it's the other way around try 'df' command in terminal emulator

Hello everyone, I have an issue with my sdcard storage. I delete ALL the data, including files and folders of sdcard but it seems like 900 Mb are taken by some invisible files. I flashed CM11 with TWRP 2.6.3.3 again but the problem is still there. I formatted the internal storago with TWRP.
This can be for Google play music songs? I saved some albums on phone to use without internet conection before last flash of rom.
Sorry about my english. I hope you can help me. Greetings and thank you very much.
This captures are both with phone after flashed and nothing on SD.

It's nothing big. The OS reserves some space only for apps so it reflects on the computer.

I think the problem is with Google play music. I selected to download to device some music and then flashed the phone. I think all that rubish is music. Furthermore, I have problems with music reproduction, apollo and google play music, both goes really slow and usually the apps break. I think the problem is on ****ing google play music old files. I format the internal sdcard with TRWP but the files are still there! Facepalm... Please help :crying:
Hi guys,
I have this phone from my mother and it can't update any apps anymore. If I look at the storage tab I get the image attached. Is there any way to fix this? Although it says there is still 1GB available it says there is only 200MB available for apps. Is there any way to relocate the 1GB for apps? I moved all the apps that where possible to the SD card but still can't update. Is there any way to fix this?
Kind regards,
Bart

I had same problem. Go to the menu from where you move applications to SD Card. Choose the ones you use more often. like Internet browser, Social media apps, etc. Tap "Clear data" button to clear data. This way you free up some space.
I'm using a unrooted Galaxy S20 (SM-G981B) and a few days ago I found a folder at my storage named "****". I never created this folder, but the timestamp and it's creation date was similar with the time where I tried some timelapse apps from the play store. After some research I also found out that there is a library for java (+ I guess android) called ****-Storage-Access-Framework (Link on Github: ****-Storage-Access-Framework) which seems to try helping developers to handle all the data file handling. So I was a bit more calmed, as I guess some of those timelaps apps might used this library and named the folder "****" because of this (not very professional but possible I guess).
Although I was somewhat calmed I was still warned and more attentive than usual. Yesterday I checked my WiFi Data usage (Connections->Data usage->WiFi data usage) and found a very strange app, called "10463". This App is listed nowhere else (also not in mobile data usage). I have no clue what app this could be or if it is connected to the "****" folder case a few days ago. But now I'm worried.
Beside this two cases nothing else strange happened on my phone.
Does someone has any idea what this app could be?
EDIT: When I print a list of all packages wie adb command "adb shell pm list packages", there is also no package with "10463" included.
