[Challenge&HELP!!] My HTC Magic is dead, only one possible way - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hi all,
I flashed the f*cking radio from htc.com website that is for 32B but mine is 32A.
Now the phone can not enter fastboot(return + power) or recovery(home + power). I thought there is no way to get it back. It always halt in the "hami" screen.
But I found one thing today. If I press trackball + power, the screen never turns on but there is a blue light turned on on the top. I think something is running backend that might help my phone back.
Could anyone tell me what is the blue light and what should I do next?
Thanks!

I've flashed a 32B radio on my 32A before just to try some 32B ROMs and never had this problem. I think maybe there's something else messed up.
Once you get the blue light, pull the battery and replace it while holding the back key. Try this also while holding the Home key.
Hope this works for you.

thank you for you reply
I remember I flashed a SPL before but it worked well. may it messed with this radio.
I didn't get you about the 'pull the battery out and replace while pressing the return key'.
The blue light always on. when I am pressing the return key and get out the battery, it turns off, and it never turns on even I put the battery back....
Did I make something wrong.

another question is :
will golden card works if it can not enter fastboot mode?

That means take the back cover off, take the battery out, wait a sec., hold the home/return key while you put the battery back in

Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or simply search.......Final result will be a ban for you up too 3 days.
Thanks

I don't think I can get into bootloader mode. Your suppose to hold the end button and press the down volume button, right?
hold the vol down button while it's booting up.

Yeah, it will not boot at all. Only sign of live is the Qualcomm driver that pops up when you plug it into the computer. Won't turn on.

if you can at least get the screen to turn on when you boot, you dont have a brick. there is software out there to force flash a device. if you cant turn it on at all, meaning you cant use the power button, you have a brick. when you flashed the raphael, the map path to the power button must have been lost. there is no recovery from that. run an industrial magnet over it for a minute, toss it in the river and tell vz you lost it...thats assuming you have insurance or just look on craigslist for a smashed screen vz tp2, take the brain out and put it in yours
It is a brick. You can NOT revive it if you flash another phone's bootloader.

Thanks for your help guys. It looks like the power button probably lost its mapping path, so it is a brick. Hence why I can't get it turned on all. I will probably try and return it as dysfunctional device since I just got it.
With the Verizon TP2 it's hold vol down and press the reset button on the side under the battery cover. Maybe there are multiple ways but that's how I get in to boot loader.
Flashing the wrong HSPL will give you a brick. Verizon may see what you have done, if you try to return it, but perhaps not. If they figure it out, they will not replace. You may want to consider claiming it as lost/stolen and pay the deductible.

Thats how the gsm tilt 2 works too... take out your stylus... press the little red reset button while holding down the volume down button... once you see the tri coloured boot screen load up you can release the volume down button and then stick that bad boy on the usb cable. When it connects it should say usb near the bottom. Flash away.
good luck!

phone wont even turn on... WTF

how do all.... nexus s I9023
i have just purchased a some what lovely google nexus s I9023
working fine for an hour or so...

having done so phone worked fine for an additional 20 mins...
then phone froze... i took the battery out and started it up again...
it froze on GOOGLE screen...
iv trawled every forum possible since this has happened...
now the PHONE WILL NOT EVEN TURN ON...
the phone is completely stock no mods or addon's to it!
im at the end of my tether.. SOME ONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
Hold volume up + power after reinserting the battery and putting it on charge. Do you enter bootloader mode? And what happens if you click recovery?
done the hold volume up and press power...
still no joy unresponsive!!
when it does work after 50 attempts of taking the battery out and putting it back in and doing volume and power
it turns on.. scroll to recovery.. it turns off google screen pops on...
then a Green android lying on his back appears with its stomach open showing white blocks and a explanation mark above it!
IM PUZZLED!!!!!
it then resets it self going back to being unresponsive!!
HELP!!!!
Give this a shot.
Also, could it be a power button issue? And that android screen is the splash for stock recovery. You have to press vol. up + power again to get past it, beyond this you can do a factory reset and similar magic. However you likely don't want this, and on the screen where you chose to enter recovery, you'll likely want to use fastboot to unlock the phone (which will wipe all personal data) and then flash a stock ROM again. At this point i would advise lots and lots of reading.
If it's less than a year old, i would be calling samsung though. If it is a new phone i would definitely do this first. Do not unlock unless you have no chance of going through warranty. Will need to know the exact status of the phone for best advice here.

Phone Won't Turn On

Okay, so I was playing a game and evidently it didn't like something I did so it closed the game. No force close message, nothing. just straight back to the home screen. So I re-opened the game and now it really didnt like what I did because it sat at a black screen with the soft keys lit up. I powered it down by holding the power button for however many seconds it took. It vibrated once. I let it sit for a few, then I PRESSED the power button. Nothing. So I held the power button for a few and it vibrated. I let go of the button, ANDROID flashed on the screen, then it went back to the powered off screen (i.e. blackness). I tried it again, same result. I held it for a little bit while AFTER the vibrate and it just vibrated again. Now, when I press the power button nothing happens; when i hold it nothing happens either. I tired removing the battery, putting it back in - nothing. I tried plugging it into the wall, nothing (yet. been about 10 minutes). Tried having it plugged in, removing battery, replacing battery, power button - nothing. I tried power button plus vol+/vol- and yet again, nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry about the abundance of run-on sentences
Oh, and FYI i've been running whatever the latest release of AOKP was for quite some time...so nothing new was flashed or installed or anything of the such.

reflashing to stock would probably work if i could get the thing to turn on...dead battery is what i'm thinking...just very, very weird...there was no bad battery life at all or any indications the battery was about to **** the bed...excellent battery life and everything...i guess anything is possible though...

Simple thought.
Have you tried your method with both the Sim card AND the SD card out of the phone?
You know what? My SR did the exact same thing to me on Wednesday. After a couple of hours it just mysteriously would power back on. I couldn't even get into recovery mode. I didn't have a cable, but I assume download mode wouldn't work either. I think this is what we in the AOKP community have come to know as "jank".
okay, so i gave up on it for a few days and just let it collect dust in the corner of my room. now i'm back at it. i currently have the phone plugged into my computer. when I do, i get three fast beeps which to me means "a USB device was just connected to me but i have no idea wtf it is." When i press and hold the power button, i get the "USB device disconnected" sound. When i press and hold the power button again, I get the same three beeps. absolutely no activity on the screen either. so the phone isn't totally dead, it seems...just can't quite figure out what the hell is going on...

Soft Bricked?

My Galaxy s3 turned off randomly today at about 50% battery life. I tried getting it to turn back on, but my power button is broken. So, if I take out the batter and put it back in, it will say "Samsung" for about 2 seconds, and just turns off again. If I plug it in, it doesn't do anything. Sometimes if I take out the battery, put it in, then plug it in while it's turning on, it'll show an empty battery for about a second, then turn off. What can I do? I can't take it to Verizon because it's rooted. This isn't newly rooted, it's been rooted for about 4-5 months, so I don't think that's the problem. There is no custom rom and I've tried a new battery. I want to fix my phone, but I really want to keep the pictures on it. Any help?
Edit: The problem is my power button being defective. If I could just boot one time to backup everything, I'll be happy.

What rom are you on and what were you doing just before it turned off? Can you boot into Download mode from a powered off state? That's the key thing.

Thank you for the reply.
I'm on whatever the default rom is. I never loaded a custom one. And before it turned off, I wasn't doing anything. I believe I simply pulled it out of my pocket. I figured I accidentally turned it off on my own because since my power button is broken, it will ask me if I want to turn it off at random times. I'm not sure if I can boot into download mode. I thought I saw a tutorial on getting into download mode without using the power button, but I'll have to find it again and try it out.
Hold volume up, home and then put the battery in. Sounds like the power button is stuck on, so you should be able to boot into the stock recovery and wipe day. Though with the power stuck on, it's probably the signal from the button that says the issue.
Do you have the vz extended warranty insurance? If so, take it in and they'll give you a new one. It covers any phone you activate (I'd never consider not having that coverage)

Well, I tried what you said and saw "Recovery booting", but then it shut off.
I have insurance, but my phone is also cracked, so they won't replace it.
Edit: I've been able to get it into download mode, but it just turns off still. It's definitely the power button because I don't even have to hold it to go into download mode.

Damn.
Honestly, if it were me, I'd raise Hell at a store with a manager until they did a warranty replacement. Crack or no, its the power button you're complaining about, so if there are no marks on the power button, they can't claim it's user-damage (like a drop).

Have you gotten the phone to completely power off, or does it sit there and attempt to boot over and over?

Don't worry about putting the sim back in for now. The best thing to do is to just rule everything out. Mash volume down as hard as you can and hold it until the htc logo goes away. Mine is tricky as hell and any variation in pressure makes me miss the bootloader altogether.
I'm still looking for some further insight.
It doesn't make sense that it would do this while still S-On, as that's the whole point of staying S-On-- not screwing up the bootloader.

You said the button lights are blinking and that's all. There is a bug happening sometimes, when display doesn't turn on and was happening also to me while I was testing some ROMs. Could you please hold that power button pressed after the button lights are blinking (that could be a warning that phone will shut down)? Keep power pressed like 10 secs after the blinking starts. Then take your finger from power button, press and hold vol down button and with other finger, press power button again for 2-3 secs while still holding pressed vol down. Phone should go to bootloader

Just occurred to me-- it could be that you were holding the power button too long and it was actually powering it back off. The three buttons blinking are normal when you hold the power button down for ~10 seconds to power off (although on my phone it actually forces it to reboot).

He did get it into bootloader after really mashing the volume key. My phone is similar in that light or medium pressure on the volume key will cause it to miss the bootloader.
I have to take my phone out of the case typically-- frustrating, but this phone is so fast I can overlook it.

No problem. It should charge if you leave it on the bootloader screen (you did, right?) and plug it into your computer. That'll allow you to go ahead and make sure fastboot drivers are working, etc.
And yeah, it takes FORever to download, but I guess it's free, so can't complain. That site was actually down for a few days when I was trying to downgrade my hboot. I made sure to keep a copy of the RUU on my server this time, lol.

Actually, you might even try seeing if it will go into recovery now. If it does, that will allow you to bypass the RUU altogether and just go straight to flashing.
It's your call, but I'd recommend S-Off. It makes flashing on this phone a whole lot less painful.
