Any ideas how to get xt9 to remember my words?
I'm using ENGZ WM6.5 Manila 2.5 'genesis' (18th Sept) and can't get it to remember my new words.
I send alot of texts in Welsh and need to to recall my words cos textig using single letter input takes ages!
Anyone able to help?

my first post here, xda-developers has been an excellent resource for me so far. Great thanks to everyone.
There is one issue which I am unable to find a solution. I recently acquired a Palm Treo 700 and I live in Finland. We use a few accented characters, mainly ä and ö. I have searched and searched for a solution to edit the order of accented characters that appear with Alt key of the keyboard. If I could get ä and ö to the 2nd spot of the order it would make life much easier. There must be others struggling with this issue (at least Scandinavian and German people using English ROM).
Does anyone of you know any solution for editing the order of alt keys or can you provide me with another simple solution for these characters. I tried SunnySoft Interwrite but it messed things up.
Another way would be to remap some individual keys, but I can't locate proper places in registry. With this solution I could edit the scandinavian keys to the keyboard replacing characters I don't need that often, like ;.
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I have a t-mobile DASH (or an HTC Excalibur) and with some updated ROMs it is terrific - especially Ricky's 6.1 version.
There are occasions when I want to type by number as if I were not using a qwerty keyboard - in other words if I were using an old fashioned phone. So to enter bill, I would type 2455 on an old fashioned phone. I need to do this when I call some idiot company that only has an automated attendant and they ask me to "use the keypad to enter the person's name". The letters they want for bill are 2455. I send something - no idea what from the qwerty keyboard and I don't get what I need :-(. Is there an (easy) way of getting dialpad tones sent when letters are pressed?

After a lot of "tricks& hicks" on my phone, I've lost the ability to type sms, mail and MMS...
I mean I can type the To: with letters, but when typing any letter in the sms area, nothing except a beep.
I've surfed the forum but nothing, I think I changed in the registry the type of input specificity of the tmail.exe when trying to install HTC keyboard, EZ input...
but can't find where.
Does anyone faced that before, and could give me another answer than Hard Rest ?

Cheers Jeant, you just fixed my Diamond from enterring numbers rather than letters in SMS with the keyboard set to phonepad. That'll learn me for changing EVERY setting at once in diamond tweak, if it ain't broke don't fix...

I have a little problem with SlideIT polish dictionary. It's very poor and I have to still add new words. But I found polish scrabble dictionary in txt file and here is my question:
can someone edit .dat file of word database and add my word base from txt file?

can the autocorrection dictionary be turned off. i use text speak alot and there's no filipino language support so it's really annoying to have it correct everything i type
I have a problem, I'm Portuguese, so you write sms with catacteres 'ã' 'ê' 'ç' 'á' among others. Right now I'm using the ROM of Endymion, I've come to use the ROM and Runnymede had the same problem of special characters. When you send sms to other mobile phones with special characters, shows with other characters. If I change to the language to English (Portugal), it sends correctly, but if you switch back to Portuguese (Portugal) turn to be the problem.
I think that is the coding for sending sms. Someone can help me?

i'm not sure if it would fix the problem, but have you tried downloading a different keyboard? Something like swype?

have already installed some keyboards, and continues with the same problem. I can only post with special characters if I change the ROM language to English (Portugal).
Also installed morelacale2 to change to the Portuguese language and continue with the same problem.
So the encoding of sms that is defined in the ROM language to English (Portugal) is not defined in Portuguese (Portugal)
if I knew how be programmed the ROM, maybe I could find the settings to English.

I'm also Portuguese and also suffering from the same problem. My phone is completely stock with HTC updates, it has android 2.3.5 and sense 3.0 and I use the last version of Swype. I agree with you and think that the problem is not the keyboard but something else.

I have the same problem too. I tried to change keyboard but steel with problems.

I had a similar problem when typing Greek characters, the sms were sent ok but instead of sending 160 characters per SMS, it would send only 70 per SMS.
This would mean that I was sending 2-3 SMS in order to send 160 characters message.
I solved it by installing Handcent SMS client from the Market.
I don't know if it would help you but you can always give it a try.

Im currently on TBD v3.1 Rom, and have the exact same problem, and really only happening when sending sms, it looks fine on my htc HD2, but the receiver instead of "~" gets a "?".
Email is working fine, facebook, everything except sms.
So far no one knows whats wrong or how to solve it =/
(my best friend, Google, cant also tell me how to solve this)
