Using dsixda's rom kitchen and with some trial and error with a few other roms I ran into some luck with MyTouch Slide ROM.
For a while we've been awaiting a stable release and guess what?
Yup! You guessed it! You're still going to have to wait.
This still has all of the problem that the G1/MT3G (1st gen) has except it seems a bit snappier.
As this develops I will attempt to keep up to date with it. Until then if you want to know the progress of this port you should check (perhaps even subscribe if your feeling wild and crazy) here.
To download click the disclaimer at the bottom.
"I accept the fact that if I do not know what I am doing or how to apply this rom then I will research first before asking any questions and will in no way shape or form hold anyone with the exception of myself liable for any damages that which may occur. I understand that I should do a backup prior to clicking and downloading any links and files within this post. I also understand that I am chosing on my own will to continue at my own risk."
(had to use 4shared server because Google Code will not allow uploads over 100mb)
Reserved for future use.
I think that I'll reserve this for future use too just in case.
Have you checked the slide kernel to see if it matches? It should. But the slide ROMs don't have su permissions so no root
flashing rom now will try to follow up afterwards
Wow that's an awesome rom. I can't wait for all the bugs to get out of that rom.
Any recommendations for ext1-4/swap with this rom?

Yeah I showed it to a friend of mine that has an iPhone. Strange enough he HATES the phone and loved the bootscreen. He's saving for a Nexus now. I told him that he's a good man for it.
great setup and actually did run pretty smooth (navigating between screens, use of drawer, basic apps like market ran well). problems that ran into were around apps gmail not loading messages only shows header when trying to open reverts back to inbox with headers. happened also with some random market apps where would not run fully would revert back to previous screen. waiting for later release to correct will go back to older rom for now.
I do enjoy the boot screen on this rom.

Weird.
I'm running stock Froyo with pershoot's kernel. Didn't have a prob updating the app and running it.
Tried over wifi?
Ya.. still not working.. I'm using modaco r17
Update, no probs here.
To those of you that get reboots: the app is trying to install on the SD card, and since you probably didn't wipe when you installed Froyo, this doesn't work for you.
I'm just saying. I didn't wipe either and the Nexus was consistently rebooting on every "move to SD" attempt.
so what do we have to do to get it installed???
This is down until further notice.
ZOMG FIRST, i have the tranquility ROM and i want to try this one, what have you fixed this time with the .5 update?

Something is big and wrong here. My google account is gone, and when you go to add an account, there is no google. Essentially I cannot use this. Seems some things got fixed, and some things got broken. Sadly, big things got broken.

I am in linux, so it calculates my size slightly different. But there is something suspicious with what it is doing. I checked the update-script, and it is copying all blur and google applications and bloatware to system folder. I verified in a file manager that my system is full of everything. Now it isn't all showing up in my app drawer. I suspect there are some competing services messing things up here. Not sure though.
But to answer your question, mine says 117.1

Thank you, when he first posted the post, the file shows 117.02M, but now he updated the downloading link it shows 117.14 now, i wonder what the .12M change was
My google account is gone too. I used the newest download. I also noticed all the blur apks are still there. I thought a blurless rom removed all those. Im going back to my last backup I was running 2.0 great

Here's the file for those who missed the Beta testing earlier via twitter:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/fdg5m3gz1j6h793/P999-AOSP-1.1.0_r1.zip
So some of you may know me and some don't. Anyways, I am mainly a kernel hacker and I do some ROM building on the side. I have recently created an AOSP ROM rebuilt from source code based on latest AOSP release 2.3.4 for MT4G/Glacier.
See thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017516
I've been lurking the G2x forum for a while now because Cyanogen himself got this phone, and I was surprised that still not many developers have jumped on this phone yet.
So instead of only having few ROMs to play with, I decided to do a build for this device, but unfortunately, I don't have this phone myself, so I cannot test this ROM myself.
I am looking for beta testers who's willing to flash my AOSP 2.3.4 build from source code directly for G2x (P999).
Requirements:
Must follow me on twitter to get updates
Can give detail feedbacks
Reply to this thread to apply....
Thanks for reading...
EDIT: Please POST screen shots of it, if it works
I'm down to beta test this! Just don't have twitter, but I guess I can start!
Will this also have a kernel of your own?
Anyways let me know!
Thanks!

It is very hard to build and test a kernel blind... Need a phone to do it correctly and properly... It will be bundled with CM7's default kernel...
More then welling to help and if needed remote access to my system with phone connected to it.
Count me in. Im rather ROM crazy. Im known to flash a ROM at least once or twice a day on my collection of phones (G2X, Droid 1, DX and Fascinate). Wouldn't mind helping.
Ill beta test about to follow u now. Edit: following and wait on build. We need some new kernels. This is great to hear

Just booted up to having no signal at all. It does not connect to any network. Going to reflash to check it again.
Same here. No signal. Will flash again and install gapps.
Additional: Home button doesn't seem to always work.

will this work with ICS roms?
I'm not sure, because I haven't followed those so closely. I think there's an ICS version. This is based on GB. The best I can say is give it a try and see
Any way of just posting a VVM apk that will work with AOSP?
is this gapps EVO specific or will it work with any cm7?

You can d/l this and extract the vvm from the apps folder (look for com.coremobility.notes) and install it with Root Explorer, etc. You may need to restore data from a VVM backup with Titanium Backup.

Good question. I'm no actually sure. The original GAPPS that I mod'd came from an Evo thread, but since these are just Google apps, I would assume it would work.
Just do a back up, flash it and see and if it does work, please come back here and post it.

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure these are evo specific. From my extremely basic knowledge on how to make flashable zips I believe each device has different paths (not huge differences) to put the apps where they need to go. I know different devices need different scripts to wipe cache and whatnot due to the dif hardware setups
I'm 40% sure on this haha
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
It makes a lot of sense, actually. I should have thought my earlier answer through. Obviously, I wouldn't flash a zip file for The moment on my Evo. Fortunately, this is a simple file, so most likely, the flash would just fail
