N00b needs help! (be nice we were all N00bs once!) - Touch Pro, Fuze General

So i have made the upgrade from the HTC touch 3g to this lovely peice of kit! Bought it on eBay and it is currently branded and locked to Vodafone. Here are my few questions!
First of all! The bastard I have bought it off seems to have passworded the device and he doesn't know what the passcode is! How do I get past this little pickle?
Secondly. I understand one of you lovely people have a sim unlock proggy for this phone. How easy is it to unlock from vodafone UK to Orange UK? The guys in the phone shops would charge me £30 to unlock it!!!
Thirdly... can anyone recommend a good ROM to flash it to? I want to debrand the phone but I want the standard (or as close to it) original ROM.
Please go easy on me! We all started out life as n00bs! Any help would be much apprechiated!

Being a noob is a good reason to ask many questions - but not an excuse for such a poorly written post.
Please read the forum rules - especially points 1 & 3.
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
1. Search before posting
However - i'm in a good mood today so:
To remove the passcode simply hard reset the phone (read the wiki for instructions)
To remove the sim lock look here
To choose which rom you want - please read the rom forum - there are lots to choose from and you will probably want to try a couple before you decide which one to stick with.

Ahh many thanks for starting me off and massive sorry for the poor post! I think i was in a rush when I received the package to get it up and running!

welcome n00b
.........don't worry we all where like you...once

Debranding the Kaiser?

Hi guys,
I've just received my T mobile branded Kaiser. It's called the Vario 3.
As i am not looking to use the device with tmobile. Is it possible to debrand this device? If so, please explain how. My assumtption is that i'll need to upload a generic rom to the device.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Please read the forum first, before you post a question...
Especially the sticky threads...
To be short:
We know it's called the Vario 3 / Vario III
...
You can probably unbrand the outside by rubbing some sugar against the logo's (I don't take any responsability for this, but it's known to be working on a T-Mobile MDA Vario I).
Th 'inside' is also known as the ROM an can't be unbranded yet...
Just wait untill we are able to CID-unlock it, so you can flash the ROM with an unbranded one...
For now you can hard-reset (format) it and jst after the screen alignment when it's counting down for customization soft-reset it by pushing your stylus up the little hole in the bottom of your device...
Good luck...
Oh, and...
Welcome to the Kaiser forum
Hi,
Sorry for not reading the sticky stuff, i'm just not that familiar with the technical terms for these devices so i thought me asking 'again' novice-style may be cool. Thanks for your help on this mate.
No problem...
I started out this way too, so...
I can tell you it's really worth it to dive in to this forum...
You can learn a lot if you check the threads once in a while...
Be carefull with advanced adjustments to your device, especially when you haven't got the right ROM for backup...
On the other hand, don't be scared to try out some stuff, because it's very hard to brick a device...
BTW:
Bricking means you screw up youre device so terribly (beyond repair) that it's turned in to a brick / expensive paperweight...
Just tried putting in my vodaphone sim into the Vario 3 and it says SIM LOCK code needed....Any advice where to get one from apart from t mobile?
Sorry...
I guess you'll have to wait...
pof is working on a CID-unlocker and probalby on a way to SIM-unlock it too...
I heard it's a difficult procedure, because the way it's simlocked is 'new'...
Maybe you can try www.imei-check.co.uk...
It's a paid service...
Decide for yourself if you're willing to pay, or have the patience to wait for a free solution...
I'm definatley sticking with the last one...

O2 Orbit2

Firstly hello! This is my first post on here so go easy please
Secondly I need some advice, I am at a stage where i need to replace my current phone and i have been looking at the O2 Orbit2. I don't like to buy without reading a review but they all seem very conflicting. You guy's seem to know what you are talking about so i would welcome your opinions / options.
My current phone is the Nokia E61 but it struggles now so it has to go, I also have to change networks because Vodafone has little or no coverage at my new house.
Thanks in advance!
Nick.
Nick, it might help a little if you state what you expect from the device, I am currently using an Orbit-2 on a T-Mobile contracted sim card, what applicatons/ software or GPS based applications do you want/ need from this device - Mike
Thanks for the reply Mike, sorry for the delay in reply and the sketchy original post. My main uses are web access/email and Excel/powerpoint based programs not sure how it would cope with these. Also any troubles with PC sync as this is something I do regularly and would be a pain if it was unstable!
The reviews I have seen have been very mixed hence i thought I would ask the experts.
Thanks again in advance.
Nick.

WTF is PHONE NOT ALLOWED MM #6

First apologies for the cross-post but I don't want anyone having to jump around looking at the original so as per Cal-El's advice I am pasting the original post below:

Hiya Olipro, guys
I've hit a snag while attempting to unlock my wife's TyTN II - a bit of history...
Only learnt that it was locked when swapping a Vodaphone sim into the unit in place of an MTN one.... the message popped up was 'PHONE NOT ALLOWED MM#6' which after a number of searches led me to believe that the unlocked was in fact locked.
I tried Jocky's method with little success, and after quite a number of reverse flashes etc I managed to get your great little app to run - the snag is that when I viewed current locks, it says that the phone is unlocked.
Well when a foreign sim is inserted or even an MTN one now it still pops that message "PHONE NOT ALLOWED MM#6".
We had been in to the UK with the unit where it worked perfectly but since our return it is a paperweight.
My question to you guys is:
What do/can I do = any ideas of a cure for this malady?
Bump!
No idea, anyone?
Seems I will have to a: Send to HTC (joke, they don't fix them, they lose them here) or b. bin it (dont want to though)
I have no idea what could cause that... if you asked Olipro and he doesn't know i suggest you dig deep in the Kaiser section and if not... ask HTC what to do.. thought they're usually clueless

Hello I am very new

Hey Guys,
This is my first post & I am a complete noob when it comes to smartphone tech. I need a new phone to keep up with emails with clients, as well as texting, calling & web surfing. I can get the TP for $99 through amazon. But ive been browsing this forum & it seems alot of ppl arent happy with the TP. I have also seen the custom ROMs have made the phone a little better. So, my questions are:
Should I buy the TP for $99 or avoid all together?
If I do buy it, should I just not worry about voiding my warranty & hack it?
& where is the thread that explains what kicthens & the other basic terminology is? ( i cant find it)
Thanks so much!
If one is happy with his device he/she doesn't need any help from a forum. Besides from the real flashaddicts. These flashaddicts automatically have the most problems as well because of flashing/experimenting

if you enjoy tweaking a phone or anything to your liking hten this phoen is for you. if you want an out of hte box-everything's-set-up experience then this phone isnt for u. there are tons of applications u can use to tweak and change things without voiding your warranty.
