Enjoy,

Suggestions.
If I may:
- Add Plurk, including the widget.
- Render the notification tray transparent.
- Implement EXT4 support.
- Be sure that the Compcache modules are correct.
- Linux-swap supported AND/OR back_swap supported.
- Add Stocks, including the widget. (It's not that much of a resource hog.)
- Add Spare Parts.
- Keep all standard wallpapers to avoid gallery selection force closes.
- Keep all media to avoid "Ringdroid" or "Rings Extended" force closes.
- Keep the standard lock screen w/ throttle bar. (It's gorgeous.)
- Be sure that the latest kernel is the BFS-222 kernel. (Cyanogen's latest is.)
- (Opt.) Twisted's "black dialer."
- (Opt.) 2.73 based-build number. (Modaco's latest WWE dump.)
If you can make that happen before your release...or keeps your initial release HELD OFF...that's fine, trust me ---> it'll be worth it!
The community would be going nuts if you can make some of that happen!
Seriously, if you make at least half of that happen, I'll flash this ROM to both of my devices, and promote the hell outta' this.
Thanks.
EDIT: The reason for the Modaco dump suggestion is because he has the only build that DOES NOT force close while using the People Search function in the contacts. That's a big deal. IMO.

haha am i following you or the other way around. i Used your rom on my Wing, so i will be sure to check this one out.

TTran!!! Dude!! Your on sapph and dream roms now. You are my hero from herald forum!! I cant wait to see what happens with you toying with android!! Now lets go get Ivan lol!!

That's strange, I've test it before uploading, the file must have gotten corrupted or something.
I'm going to download it and try again.

File is not available from megaupload...
nevermind, i guess you're uploading it again

Bro this thing is very fast. And as what you said its a full verison so it might be a bit slow. But i dont think its slow at all. I have a class 2 4gb. Its still fast! Getting my class 6 in 3 days
I did notice one thing, with JACHEROski builds the prediction on QWERTY mode prediction dont work. But that is not a problem to me i can just use better keyboard while this whole thing gets figured out why it wont work on texting mode only.
But hey other than that this ROM is go for.
Thanks.

Hey ttran001,
I seen that you had to re-upload the file.
The one you just re-upload were there any chance to it? There is 3mb less then the first one you uploaded?

Man, I'm starting to hate megaupload.
It should be the same file.
As for changes, I'm going to wait until tomorrow after folks have had time to download it and provide their feedback.
I personally like the other build I have of JaCs, but it looks as if people want MoDaCo rom.

This is an old thread now. Moved to keep things easier. new thread ?t=670098
Download:
"Full" Version - (full dc, JIT/Swap/a2sd with dalvik/apps moved, 32apks banned) - more @&postcount=84
If you want to disable JIT & go back to sense just pull your /system/etc/dc.conf and replace it with the one code quotes below.
4-23 http://www.4shared.com/file/bVN1T-zN/TrevE_NewDamageMods423FULL.html
-(hopefully) fixes issues with new install & no wallpaper :|
-fix up fb sync again
-few other goodies (yes shes bloated, ill optimize when its reported working)
If you get bootloops upgrading try whacking private apps
adb remount
adb shell rm /data/app-private/*
adb shell reboot
older versions: (not recommended)
4-22 - http://www.4shared.com/file/smHMIWMe/TrevE_NewDamageMods422FULL.html
-Fixes issues with JIT & launcher.
-Adds in live wallpapers. libgsl.so is included (should make lwp stick but could cause graphics issues in opengl games. youo should be able to adb shell rm /system/lib/libgsl.so if you want 'unsticky' lwp but fixed games. Will eventually have a switch if you want lwp or Weather wp in sense.
-minor
4-21 version http://www.4shared.com/file/U8lsLrsv/TrevE_NewDamageMods421FULL.html
Update Version
***This is alittle outdated now. Once i have confirmation newer updates work ill fix this as well****
update.zip (only modifies files needed should be flashable on anything based on DC, JIT/swap/banned apps OFF, dalvik/apps moved) - http://www.4shared.com/file/8j7J5_y6/update_signed.html
*4/21 @ 5pm est version* --Fixes permissions issue with zipalign
Fixes:
-Avalaunches 'Eris' Audio fix for this kernel (still testing only flash if your having a problem) - http://www.4shared.com/file/Y7czJU0K/AvalaunchErisFix420_TrevE.html
More info ?t=657244 (do not use the zips from his thread they will not work with this)
About this mod:
just a few features
-new more robust a2sd should fix alot of issues. Logs to /data/dcboot.log if you lock on boot pull that file before you restart and post here. (overwritten each reboot)
-zipalign apks in /data/app if they need it on boot. Logs output to above log aswell.
-first boot will take forevor. just wait. We wipe dalvik, check for app uuid mismatches & potentially move files around for a2sd. Only the initial boot will be painful but Its worth it for a clean upgrade.
-easy JIT. Been using LWP in helix launcher for awhile now. pretty stable
-everythings stored in a nice dc config file. no dummy folder mess. now dc can be tweaked more than ever & makes saving settings for upgrades easy.
*Testing now* Adding in a delete parameter to bannedapps.conf. if you delete the same apps every upgrade now just make a list of them and it will be automatic.
Still testing, havent heard of any bugs so far. let me know ill get it working. also if you want to help build off of this shoot me a PM
TrevE:
stock 4.0-4.2 ish mem, 2.254 MFLOPS (ss above)
with just [email protected] enabled 4.7ish mem
[email protected] & JIT enabled (8-8.5ish memory, 3.6 MFLOPS): &postcount=18

Treve, a few Q's:
Is this newer than than the one from yesterday afternoon? - nvm, i learned how to read
This requires a wipe and reflash of the rom first? - gonna give it a try without reflashing the rom, hope it goes well
Is autokiller compatible with these kernel mods or do I have to edit dc.conf to change the minfree settings?
Can someone post membench with jit enabled. Using this rom and these mods.
Well I flashed it over the rom I was running (modified dc2.07.2) with no ill effects that I can tell so far.
I am still curious though how to go about manipulating minfree...
I guess I'll toy with dc.conf
Thanks TrevE!!
wow
I know you said it was a long boot but wow that took me 10 minutes first time trying to use a2sd hope things go well
Ok so the long boot only come to it a boot loop when ever i touch the screen it now reboots, I wiped the phone clean everything then reflashed DC2.07.2 booted made sure everything worked turned off the phone applied the update and again as soon as i touch the screen the phone freezes and reboots. what am i doing wrong
Just did the update. For some reason rosie seems to force close whenever I change to any page other than the main home screen. Kind of strange, really.
Do you have JIT on? Seems even having the files there with the build.prop line thats suppose to disable is causing issues for some people. Already have a new script to try to keep JIT files elsewhere until enabled just finishing up code checking now, for now you can try to
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/bin/dalvikvm
adb shell rm /system/lib/libdvm.so
adb shell rm /system/lib/libnativehelper.so
adb shell reboot

see if that helps. If nto reboot to recovery + wipe dalvik-cache.
TrevE, this is awesome! I'm going to see if I can start to build a plain Vanilla ROM off of this with JIT and everything enabled (that is if you don't mind).

All I will basically end up doing is creating an AOSP-style ROM that is clean and fast, JIT-enabled, but keeps the stability of the HTC ROM's.

The faster you do this, the faster I will be a happy camper! lol
Hah alright. You can try Ic3Rom right now if you want... mine will be similar in appearance, but will have the old OpenGL (better Launcher2 performance), no LWP's since IMO they slow things down and drain battery faster, and will obviously be JIT enabled. There is really no reason NOT to use JIT anymore... especially since we're getting it figured out more.
Ahh speaking of figuring jit out more i just realized the build.prop isn't even used for jit. As soon as the files hit /system/lib/ its enabled.
New version that fixes JIT enable/disable has been uploaded to same link in first post. Ill post screenshots in a sec of benchmarks for swapping + jit on my c6 card.
**Remember if your using JIT delete HTC lockscreen (or just use menu+menu to unlock, swipe and youll freeze up.) also use homeswitcher to set launcher as a default before flashing**
Here is tests of swapping set to 30, a2sd & dalvik moved to sd & JIT enabled
Using a c6 sd card
Swap is working:
Code:
# free
free
total used free shared buffers
Mem: 195632 193408 2224 0 984
Swap: 31704 1020 30684
Total: 227336 194428 32908
I see a buncha messages about JIT floating by logcat. Its def on. Im impressed almost doubled mem scores...

JIT is not on. It didn't seem to have helped, the phone has been sitting at the HTC screen for about 40 minutes. I did a nandroid restore. Going to try wiping dalvik cache in the recovery screen.
how can we enable JIT without enabling a2sd?

[Collection] MTD Roms Thread

As many of you know, Firerat is a genius, and has made an amazing implementation of lbcoder's idea for mtd partitions in this thread below (the link)
Disclaimer said:
You must read this thread and understand that these are not conventional, easy-to-flash roms. You must understand how to do the process in the thread below, as well as a comprehensive idea of what is going on at each step, and so on. Good luck, feel free to use the following list of roms to your disposal.
If you don't have the experience to do this, stay out of the thread until you've figured it out. I don't like stupid questions that are answered by this simple link:

This is the place collection of roms I will make that work with this hack, and are unusually fast and stable, due to no symlinks and no a2sd. People please keep posting your mods, i'm just the keeper of this thread because i'm online often and can update op. Thanks to the community for this amazing method.
Firerat said:
you only need to flash the recovery patch once, each time you want to resize
you must reboot each time you resize
you must fastboot erase system -w each time you resize, or for convenience use clockworks partition formats (before reboot)
you must use the bootpatcher, unless the ROM is pre-patched with AutoMTD
if you need many apps, keep a2sd
if you want to remove a2sd (old style, pre cm5), you must replace with
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
cm.filesystem.ready 1
read the custom MTD thread, your question is probably already answered

guaranteed. Turn off compcache, too and it'll fly. You have to install and patch the awesome recovery image in firerat's thread linked above. it's pretty complicated for most users, but if you can/already have done it, then go ahead. firerat makes it easy!
So is the patch already integrated into the ROM? Just download and flash? If so, you are my "hero"
that would be really awesome! but wow that guide given by Sir Firerat looks complicated to me I'll wait to see if a more simplified instruction is supplied lol. anyways thanks for your hard work brother

haha no you still need the custom recovery and the sdcard file...
and the fr boot patch.
I've just rearranged these roms for optimal performance with the above configuration.
I vote for FR's MTSlide
would you added to the collection?
EDIT: I just tested SenseHero and runs really smooth but, oh surprise when I realized it is Firmware 1.5 still
also you have to type: "setprop cm.filesystem.ready 1" on every reboot or it won't boot.. very inconvenience (b/c of adb)
thanks for sharing this anyways

Hey if you could help me get this to work, i could add it into my rom and you could include it. that way you don't only have sense roms and you can have a flying froyo.
This would also be good because i yanked the a2sd script from my rom and recommended people use the mtd hack if they needed more space, and if they needed MORE space then they could add the a2sd script themselves.
I've tried previously to get the mtd part hacks going in my tests. but never successfully got it. this was back using the froyo aosp. When i tried doing the mtd hack it wouldn't run scripts on boot. (that's not good ) and my data size never changed
i had flashed the recovery1_1, and added the automtd stuff that firerat had created and posted in our thread for the rom (replaced the boot.img and edited the updater-script to flash it correctly).
I notice that now there might be newer stuff, so if he got that working, great. let me know the proper procedure for a cm6 based rom, and i'll try it and offer it for a test.
Thanks man, hope this works out!
Edit: well i tried this all again on my own. and got it working.
now i can't "touch the android to begin".. i just get "ignoring touch event because phone interface was null" from logcat. and i just did a fastboot wipe. ? do you think it's because of this? turns out it was because some idiot (me) decided to replace the phone.apk. but didn't notice he replaced it with phone.zip........... hahahahaha
anyways i now have a working MTD Froyo rom that's good news right? well, you would think so, but there is better news. I didn't think this rom could get faster. well damn was i wrong. this MTD hack really sped up not just the rom, but the boot up (not first boot).
Here's my post with my rom in it
There is no theme on it (yet). so flash any theme you want. metamorphs are recommended. dont blame me if you flash a theme through recovery and get a bootloop.
Hmm, mine says Insufficient storage space when I try to install things. Was I not supposed to flash firerat's no-A2SD patch?

ummm no. firerat's no-a2sd patch is completely unrelated. this if for firerats custom MTD patch.. lol
and that sounds like it was because you tried flashing one of those hero roms onto yourphone and you don't have room for it in /system. those roms need to use the mtd patch to increase system so they fit. mine decreases /system a tiny bit (default with mtd patch)

I can fit the hero rom ANYWAY, I just wanted to see if there was a speed boost. and I'm pretty sure I followed instructions correctly.
I installed the firerats no-a2sd patch because i have no ext partition, and some roms don't boot without one and then continud to flash the custom MTD patch

Do you know how to flash the custom MTD patch? you need to patch the recovery, and then have the mtdpartmap.txt file on your sd card
then you flash the rom

the point of this rom is that you don't even need ext on ANY phone, g1 or mytouch... so the patch might have broken the a2sd bypass... lol

Oh dude i think you should include in the OP info about the two different types of mtdpartmap.txts and the recovery patches, just so we have a few less noob questions. Just say that they should make sure that the type of mtdpartmap.txt corresponds to the type of recovery patch they used, and example "this goes with this", "that goes with that"

Premise:
1. Performance degradation with HD roms (and regular ones as well) occur when essential parts of the device's operation are from the sd card, instead of working as much as possible from the internal memory.
2. Deodexed roms render a substantial part of the /system partition into a bloated archive, since no apk or jar file is actually used. Everything is odexed and copied into the dalvik-cache, which leads to -
3. The dalvik-cache of a deodexed rom is much larger than that of an odexed rom. So now we have large portions of the system partition that are not used, and a clogged data partition.
4. So we use a2sd, a2sd+, d2ext or d2we - and essentially, what we get is that almost nothing is being run from the internal memory. What a waste.

If this is true, only intensive testing will reveal. So lets give it a shot.
1st things 1st, you need to flash Bravo CM7 Hboot. either from fastboot or from hboot.- goto alpharev.nl site - is there together with all the info how to flash it
Rom Download link:
http://baadnewz.lcdc.sk/InsertCoinDATAplusplus/
Rom is the same as InsertCoin 2.0.0 A2SD+. But edited to fit to 130 nand, you'll need 1 gb ext2/3/4 partition.
P.S. framework folder lies under /system/sd/framework so you CANT flash zips directly from UOT, get the zip unpack it and push the framework-res.apk to /system/sd/framework
(you should know this if your a poweruser)

We use the data Partition for Cache and Apps and the sdext for other data or system files ?
With the old scripts we do not really use the Data partition? I understand it right?
Sry for my bad english.... i need further infromation but it looks very good!

Applications and system framework files don't run from jar or apk files. They run from odex files within the Dalvik Cache. So placing the Dalvik Cache on the sd card causes performance degradation, and keeping these jar and apk files in the internal memory is a waste of space.
In this method, we try to keep in the internal memory only the files the phone actually uses during its runtime, and move to the sd card all the archive files that are not in use.
Quadrant tests will probably not reveal an improved performance. They don't test for what we have done. But the user experience is much, much better.

That's the one problem with a tiny cache partition. You cannot have too many market downloads at once, and you cannot flash a new radio with a zip file. I sent a message to the wonderful people at alpharev, asking for a new partition layout. If this type of rom gains traction, they will probably accommodate us.
Device booted very fast And market is working.
Very responsive.

Special thanks to [email protected] workgroup for letting me join this group.
This ROM (not a mod) has been developed from the source of
Google (AOSP) and a very little part of Cyanogen framework.
Thanks to Cyanogen and all his staff for the contributions received.
I strongly recommend formatting SDCARD with the three
partitions, VFAT 7.4 GB / EXT3 512MB / LinuxSwap 64MB, you can do
from the recovery, but remember to save before your pictures and music.
This is because directories are created in the sdcard called Android in which
recording data that I have found that negatively affect the ROM.
This is only necessary if you want to have Apps2sd or Linux Swap,
if you're not going to make any of these things is not necessary to format
SDCARD with three partitions.
Steps:
1 .- is necessary to WIPE, since changes in the system have been
many are not compatible.
2 .- Reboot into recovery mode and install the downloaded file. Zip.
3 .- When you first start, do not worry if you reboot one or
twice, it can also take a while to leave the first splash, is
completely normal and running multiple configuration files in the first
home.
4 .- In the Welcome screen when you ask for the account
google, skip the configuration recommended giving ignored. This is
Auto connect the phone because the market and begin downloading
automatically all the applications you had installed and it saturates
terminal because it does blow, it also puts the background image
previous ROM. In this way you will do a clean install.
5 .- End to indicate the values that you requested and once in the
launcher set the phone to your liking.
6 .- Very attentive to you to do restorations of any kind or
ROM program against which you can have problems. (I mean backups,
including their own SupSetup least in the section on applications), special
attention to restore configuration data of any kind. Do
little by little to make sure everything is properly restored.
7 .- After you enter the market and a free application instaláis
either to refresh which you have installed in the terminal.
The new integrated SupSetup activation brings on-demand applications in
extra applications section.
It is important before you set up Google account are activated
from applications before SupSetup so that when you connect to the
servers to configure your Google account, they come under the heading of
downloads.
Apps2sd
Apps2sd is to pass the phone applications both current
future to the ext3 partition, it is essential not to trigger any mode
sd application to move or change from internal to external location
applications. Simply activate it from the SupSetup without touching any
configuration in the Spare Parts or applications from the ROM settings.
Apps2sd not activate without at least once you have restarted
Kernel

an AROMA based Touch UI Recovery Installer
As seen on Valhalla Black Edition and Team Acid AOKP
Please tell me if you're going to use this in your ROMs just so I know who is using it . Thank you.
This is for ROM chefs only, not for regular users. Regular users, you will see this in all your ROMs soon .
All the instructions below refer to the files in META-INF/com/google/android
You can change the splash image by replacing aroma/splash.png (make sure it's a PNG though)
As mentioned in the installation instructions, make sure your ROM's zip file matches that of Valhalla Black Final's for best results.
Full touch screen support
Allows for a typical install, using default settings
Allows the user to customize the ROM installation
Allows the chef to customize the user experience
Support for different themes/skins
Installs Busybox
Installs kernel if you desire
Installs modem if you desire
No need to check mounts, the installer properly mounts the partitions for you.
No need to format partitions, the installer can wipe them for you.
Download and extract the installer zip file
Edit aroma/installer.default.prop to set your ROM's information
Rename installer.default.prop to installer.prop
Edit aroma-config and updater-script to your liking
Extract your current ROM's zip
Delete your ROM's META-INF folder
Put the new SGS4G CWM Rom Installer's META-INF and tools folders in your ROM's root
Make sure your ROM's file structure matches that of AOKP Unofficial by TeamAcid, unless you know what you're doing
Create a new zip file
Flash away and test!
If you use this tool you have to link back to this thread and give me credit using the link. Example:

Remove touchscreen calibration fix /data extract bug
-- With aroma 2.55+ touchscreen calibration is no longer necessary
-- /data packages should get extracted properly after a /data restore
Updated to latest AROMA binary (2.56)
-- Much more stable binary in ICS recovery!
---- The newest binary hasn't crashed on me yet during testing unlike the older version (2.50) that was included in the last version of the SGS4G Installer.
Here is the AROMA changelog since the last version included in the SGS4G Installer

Supported Galaxy Nexus Touch Screen - And maybe other devices now supported

Added colors to the installation confirmation screen
May 2, 2012

Updated to aroma-2.00-120414-A7
Now checking for phone version using a kernel check. Should prevent Froyo users from installing a GB ROM

Sounds good. Just follow the OP if you'd like. I'm sure you already looked through the scripts. You should theme the installer to make it look like your ROM .
airflip if u are using my rom as a base its already in there .... which u asked me to use so.....
FB, I just flashed Raver's final and everything flashed fine then when the installer was done it showed an error having to do with not finding a path for something. I was going to re do it and copy the error down but now the phone is stuck at the T-Mo screen and it won't go into recovery with the button combo. I'm going to Odin it in the morning and re-flash and see if it throws the error again and I'll let you know.

Same error on my sgs4g I think it was a temp file error, didn't affect my rom booting though.

Awesome, don't forget to post here if you have any usage questions. I wound up taking out a lot of the comments for space, but I learned the syntax of the AROMA functions pretty well.

You are right. I am making this installer so customizable, from kernel to bootanimation.

I'm gonna release an update soon. You should look into it once I'm done since I simplified the updater-script portion of it.
What do you mean by "soon" because i may release 4.0 tomorrow. I just need to test my new features.
I'm doing final testing of the installer so in about an hour.

Panicking right now because I can't seem to PM you FB.
I hope I don't come off as a stickler for details, but there's just a single typo in what is the 6th screenshot posted in the OP. It's for the option where you can choose to Wipe Data.
"...another ROM. Don't select if you want to keep your ap"
I'm assuming it was supposed to say "apps."
Just wanted to make note of it as I saw that Raver updated the contents in the aroma folder within the META-INF directory for his Valhalla Black rom. I was just thinking the typo might've been updated or something somehow.
