Which Regisrty Entry? - General Questions and Answers

I am trying to prevent my TP2 from automatically going on standby mode after calls end. Anyone know which registry entry I need to edit?

Maybe you can have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4430725
Hope that can help....any further helps are needed.

Thanks for the reply. That is to reassign the wake-up key. I do not want it to automatically go on standby after every call. I am severely physically disabled and cannot press the hardware keys.

might be a dumb question to ask, but since I don't know of any setting/software that would make you're phone go into standby immediately following a call, are you sure that...
1) it sleeps IMMEDIATELY after the call....and
2) Tah you're device isn't simply suspending according to you power/backlight options set in Settings / System / Power / Advanced "turn off backlight" & "turn off device" settings?
I know that the backlight will fast sleep DURING a call which can also be changed but it sounds like your issue is different than this.
Post further details for addional help.

Do you have a TP2? I was told by HTC tech support that this "feature" is to save battery life and cannot be changed in the settings. I am positive it goes on standby immediately after every call. I have been through every setting on the phone and cannot find the cause. I am going to re-flash the stock ROM to see if there's a difference.
If you have a TP2...
1) What ROM are you running?
2) After a call, do not touch your phone. Do not even hit the End key. See if your phone goes on standby.

ok...yes I think the setting ur referring to is the FAST SLEEP on phone calls. Meaning the backlight goes off nearly immediately after RECEIVING a call but while ur still on the phone....right?
I am not sure the registry entry right now but there is a tweak app that should fix that for you. Not sure what that app is on a TP2 but on Kaiser/Tytan 2 it's a kaiser tweak and on my Fuze/Diamond it's the Diamond Tweak app. Maybe someone can comment as to whether the Diamond Tweak app is compatible with the TP2 or maybe google "kaiser tweak for touch pro 2". BTW it is a tweak/hack and not a system setting that you can disable that I know of. So flashing ROMs is pointless u'll still have to tweak unless it's already tweaked n the rom.
Give me a day/so I'll find that and post back
I'll look for the registry hack if someone doesnt beat me to the post.
Hope that helps......

hey try these registry hacks on ur phone to see if that prevents what ur trying to stop. To edit the registry u can install and use total commander
*** Prevent Fast Sleep During Phone Call ***
HKEY_Local_Machine\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastD
ormantDisplayDuringCall to 0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep switch value from 1 to 0
******
Hope that Helps!

My device does not go to sleep during calls. ONLY after calls end. I have tried 2 apps, and neither worked.
NoSleep
Power Tweaker 2
Thanks for the suggestions, let's keep trying! I'm sure we can figure this out!

Just tried these. Still no luck. Any other suggestions?

Any current "device lock" or power related programs currently installed that might have a setting controlling the status/suspend of the phone after a call is hung up? I think Slide to Unlock used to have a setting that did this, so maybe it's another app that is unknowingly causing this behavior.
I will google a bit and see what else I might be able to come up with. Thanks for the clarification on whether it is during/after a call. Sleeping immediately AFTER a call is not a normal behavior with my phone or my previous winmo phone either... so it is a bit puzzling to me.

The only app I have installed currently is Touchtris. I am using EnergyROM StandardM2.5 from Sept 12.
Your continued help is greatly appreciated.

I have somewhat found out what was causing my issue. I was using EnergyROM StandardM2.5 build Sept 12. I re-flashed my TP2 to the stock ROM, and my issue is resolved.
So the problem is either in the EnergyROM or Windows Mobile 6.5. I am going to flash another WM 6.5 ROM to see if the issue returns.
HTC tech support claims that the auto standby is an intended power saving feature, but it is not happening on the shipped ROM.

Does anyone know of a resolution to the device going to sleep after a specified time and not re-waking? I tried the Backlight setting and Power setting, but the device seems to go to sleep and not wake up. I have to soft-reset it get it to respond and even phone calls go straight to voice mail.
any help is much appreciated
I had the same problem. It's so random that it's hard to find out a reason

What ROM are you running? What radio and ipl/spl do you have? I have to say I've never seen this on any of the WM6 roms I've been on (MBE, mUn, nottoosmart, faria, xplore). I wonder if its some 3rd party app thats misbehaving / conflicting with WM6? Are you running any Spb programs (a couple of those seem to have issues with WM6 in other ways).
Not sure how often it happens, but if possible you should go back to a clean flash of the rom and try using it just that way to see if the problem still happens.
3DES.2 ROM
SoftBank X01HT
Cingular Network

I am concerned about reflashing, since I already bricked a device trying to roll back to an original rom (and I did read wiki) Any help is greatly appreciated. I boot fresh and do nothing but press the power button to turn off the screen and it happens everytime, the greenlight still blinks but nothing happens.

Well, keep reading this forum and you will probably brick it again! You do realize you are reading the Wizard forum and not the Hermes forum???
If I set the minimum cpu speed to 130mhz or below I get the exact same problem, Are you using battery status or some other omap scalar program?
uugg-- sorry guys, I read the Hermes forum, but clicked the wrong link when I was mobile and posted the first message.
I am not sure if I am running a slower mhz. Is that default on 3DES.2? I will research how to change but if you can tell me quickluy - I will gladely take instructions to test.
The only way to change the speed is if you are running something like BatteryStatus or OMAPCLOCKplus or XCPUSCALER. Those will allow you to set a "min" on your phone and will drop your CPU down to the min when you aren't doing anything. So if the min is set to low, you phone can lock up similar to what you are describing.
You'll have to find out from other Hermes users what a good min is for your device. Personally on my Wizard I set the Min to 143 or 147Mhz. It can go lower, but I don't think it makes that much difference and don't care to find the bottom that works before I have problems. Just like I run a max of 260Mhz. I know I can run 273, but I don't see much difference, and really don't want to have issues by running faster when I can't see a performance gain (but thats just me).
Good luck!
Thank you everyone. I have narrowed it down to the powersave.dll. When I disable this - it no longer causes the lockup issues. I did not try adjusting the min value but it does appear to be the issue as I will assume - that powersave option does exactly as you outlined above.
regards and thanks again.
This is a common problem if you have installed a "Today" application on a storage card (the microSD card). If you did this, reinstall to the main memroy any Today application or any application that is in the "'windows\startup" folder.

Backlight Goes Off in 10 Seconds Using Phone

When I'm on a phone call, the screen backlight goes off after 10 seconds, even though I have Settings->System->Backlight->Battery set to 4 minutes. Even if I'm using another application while on a phone call, the backlight goes out after 10 sec. If I'm not on a phone call, then the backlight seems to obey the systems setting.
FWIW, this is a Touch Cruise, with the 1.25.405.1 WWE ROM, and WM6 18129.0.4.5.
there is nothing wrong with your phone thats normal. but the fix is a registry change. I can not remember what it is but I am sure the answer was in the the big fixes thread somewhere. I keep seeing it in there but keep forgeting to change mine. If I found it i will post it here.
Thanks. I did a search before posting, but didn't find anything.
Check out tweak #38 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355277
This supposedly disables the screen turning off during a call, I haven't tried it myself.
i think it's not a problem at all for me
in fact, it prevents you to ends the call or launch a program if your cheek touch the screen
Yeah doesn't bother me either, it's expected behavior. But to each his own, some people want to turn off that feature.
Fine, it's a feature. How do I turn it off? Tweak #38 extends the time to ~30 seconds, but the display still goes off. That's a real killer if trying to navigate some company's phone menu, or trying to read a reference document while talking.
Well, in S2U2 there's in an option to choose, whether the phone should
turn the screen off during call or not. This option is available seperated
for Battery or Powered device while calling. Maybe this helps. Tested it
and works. Though I hate it, when the screen stays on during call, because
most time when I hang up I recognize, that I started tons of apps with
my fat face So I turned that option back to default for my case.
You may try yourself.
Olioaglio
Thanks. Unfortunately, S2U2 has a whole bunch of other features, which means a bunch of added overhead. It also needs a user manual to explain those features and options
So don't use what you don't need (or don't understand).
IMHO, it's worth it...
\HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastDormantDisplayDuringCall
change "1" to "0"
I also found out this one:
Using Pocket Toolman2 (v.2.26.36), go to ''Tools''-->''OS Tweaks''
and there is an option to unchek the box ''Allow phone to go to sleep during calls''

THis is the better tweak and i have used it for a long time, simple

disable wake on sms?

I'd like to disable the phone from waking up when i get a text message... If i get one while the phone is in my pocket, the act of pulling it out keeps on resizing my text for some reason...
I have diamond tweak and the "wake on sms" is disabled, but it still does it... I've tried enabling it and disabling it again to no avail...
Anyone have any suggestions?
I have advanced config, diamond tweak, and total commander if any can get the job done.
Run phoneAlarm - which controls phone profiles and many other aspects of how your phone operates. It has an option to keep the phone from waking up on SMS.
The re-sizing may come from your touching around the D-Pad as you pull the phone from your pocket. That's what I was doing an it had me totally baffled for about a week - until I accidentally discovered that you could change the font size by running your finger around the action button.
Hrmm... phoneAlarm looks like it's a huge hastle to put in and i rather like the touch flo... wouldn't want to disable it to put in something else for this one feature I'm looking for...
I'm just miffed though... The registry key:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
is already set to 1... it should be disabled... but it still wakes up...
can anyone tell me why?... I DO have the sprint (cdma) version if that makes any difference but i don't think they would have jacked with sms wakeup...
bump... anyone know how to help with this?...
it's driving me nuts trying to figure out why it's not working as intended...
i also tried different things to not wakeup the phone on sms but nothing worked.
does anyone have a solution???
I have turned it on and off several times to see if I could replicate your issue and I cannot. There is an issue with your phone disregarding that Diamond tweak setting. There are a few things I would look at, are you running the stock ROM or did you flash one? What applications have you loaded on the phone one might be conflicting or overriding that setting. If I just could not figure out what could be causing this issue I would hard reset and before I load anything I would test to see if it works or not.

long phone lag when trying to answer a call HTC Touch Pro

Does anyone know of a fix for the long lag in answering calls for the HTC Touch Pro? If you can help please write back in the simplest terms! I am just learning how to use the phone and finally learned how to download and install cab files.
Thanks!

What have you installed (to cause this problem)?
Do a search for "diamond tweak". There is an option to shorten the delay when an incoming calls rings. Perhaps that will help.
if you have S2U2 installed, you could try uninstalling or disabling that. You could also switch from the Diamond dialpad to the regular WinMo dial pad (the screen you see when go to the dialer). You can make this change using the Advanced Config Tool (i'm pretty sure, if not, then try Diamond Tweak).
There's also the initial delay value in the registry as mentioned in the last post.
These should all help, some more than others though.
there actually is an issue with Diamond tweak and advanced config...
if you use them to set your data disconnect time if re writes a registry value that makes your phone fritz when trying to answer calls.in reg editor go to HKLM/comm/connmgr/planner.
Look for a entry of suspendresume. change that to #777. shold cure your issue. while you are there if you want to help out your battery change the Cachetime value to 60. that will kill your data afret 60 seconds of no use.
weird.....suspendresume on mine shows ~GPRS! as a value??

thanks for the suggestions and how do I fix the hang up lag?
The slow delay in answering calls was a problem right out of the box. When I installed the slide to answer function the phones responsiveness greatly improved. There is also a huge lag from the time I end a call to the time I can go back to my home screen. Any suggestions for fixing that lag?

no idea, but i have the same thing
No luck with the tweak mentioned in post #5. However, after I replaced the HD CallerID with the default WM one (which is not that bad!) the phone responds rapidly :
1) Zero lag between first caller's ring and screen respond.
2) Almost zero lag between first caller's ring and bluetooth handset ring.
3) Less than 0.5 ring before the device starts ringing.
Only a minor problem : The bluetooth icon does not show any more on the taskbar although the BT connections works fine !
Ok, where do you change to the default caller ID? I tried the registry edit and changing to the default dialer skin and had the same problem. This is so frustrating! About 50% of the time when it rings I hit the answer button and nothing happens. It even takes about 10 seconds before the screen changes from the home screen to the phone screen when it starts ringing.
How big a file for the ringtone are you using? The bigger the file, IMHO, the longer it'd take for the phone to load it...
Delete your call history and the lag after hanging up should disappear.
Htc Diamond Regedit
Hello,
I have a problem with my HTC.
I used PHM Regsitry. I found the Suspendresume key, and it wrote GPRS!
I clicked the key, and because I did not know who to change the value, I just wrote #777.
Now when I try to go there and change what I did, when I click Settings in regedit, it is emty or the program crackes.
Please help.
Paches and fixes
Goto HTC's website. There is a patch to resolve the issue for the delay in sound when answering calls.
Regarding the delay after the phone cal has been discontinued use "Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3" (search this site). There is a setting that you can change to resolve it (default is 3000ms[3sec])

This hangup delay is one of the first settings I changed when I got the phone. Almost everytime I scroll through contacts phonebooks, the phone would accidentally dial, so I press end end end repeatedly, but by the time it hangs up, the other party already had my caller id, and would call back asking why I called.
Why is this 3 sec delay built-in? There must be a reasoning behind it.
And while we're on the delay issue, why did they set the camera up with a 3-5 second delay to shoot? Is it for the autofocus? I got rid of the reg setting, now the camera is faster, and no autofocus issues... so why were these delays there to begin with?

its in Schaps Advanced config 3.3 under Camera. But i digress...
it still begs the question, from an engineering standpoint, why did they set up these delays and lags?

I don't know if you resolved your issue.
You just have to erase "~GPRS!" and type in "#777"
No quotes of course.
I use Dotfred Task Manager 3.1
Same problem
I recently got this problem with the answer lag, I was using the same rom, same applications, same everything for the past few weeks. I am not entirely sure what caused the problem.
What would happen is when I get a call and I hit the answer key, the phone stops ringing and vibrating but it would still be flashing and has the phone number shown, I also have the slider installed and when I slide it, the same problem comes up!
In my reg editor, I do not have HKLM!
Any advise would be appreciated, this is getting annoying for both sides of the call.
Thank You
UPDATE
I actually may have found the solution, I removed the wireless manager shortcut when holding the answer button, and so far it's been working very quickly.
Go to settings -> Buttons and switch "button 1" from w/e u had to "<none>" I didn't even restart my phone...
2nd Update
Nope, just got an international call and it's holding it up... maybe it has to do with caller ID ?
HKLM is HKey_Local_Machine

HTC Sensation: Possible solution of "phone doesn't sleep" and "power button" problem

HTC Sensation: Possible solution of "phone doesn't sleep" and "power button" problem
Hi every body,
I was getting irritated and extremely fed up of basically two problems of my htc sensation:
1- The phone didn't automatically turn the screen off. The screen would remain ON and wouldn't automatically lock itself. For example, i use the phone and then i will place it at a side expecting that first screen will be dimmed and then phone will automatically lock itself. It wasn't happening since a very long time (I don't remember the beginning of problem), even when screen timeout setting was enabled. I also observed that if at one time i set the brightness level of display to be automatic, next time i check it and brightness level was always set to be at maximum level.
2- When i pressed the power button to lock the phone, the phone often doesn't go dark. It went dark for a second and then became ON again. I had to press it a number of times until it goes dark. Similarly when i wanted to unlock the phone, i had to press the power button multiple number of times, until it gets unlocked.
Basically i was trying to solve the 1st problem. I went into settings -> applications -> manage application. I checked for each installed application whether it has following in the permissions:
System tools: prevent phone from sleeping
Following applications had above mentioned permission, so i removed them:
xda
ebay
mobile voip
daily motion
sports tracker
Calorie Counter - MyFitnessPal
imdb
Photo Editor
speedtest.net
whatsapp
yahoo messenger
Surprisingly after removing those apps, both issues 1 & 2 were totally gone. The phone was automatically locking it self (it still is). So for me problem number 1 is totally gone now.
However, regarding second problem, i tested it like 100 times locking and unlocking the screen by pressing power button. The behavior was absolutely normal. Then i checked the brightness level of phone, it was set to maximum, i set it to automatic. As soon as i set the brightness level to be automatic, the 2nd problem somehow reappeared.
Now if i set the brightness level manually, the 2nd issue doesnt reappear, but when i set the brightness level to be automatic, power button issues reappears.
Sorry for such a long post but I hope may be this post helps someone, also i would like to ask the experts the justification of such behavior of phone.
I am using stock rom and android version 2.3.4, sense version 3.0 and software number 1.50.206.1
This definitely needs a bump!
I was thinking of possible solutions as well, but this one makes sense. Maybe it is a flaw in how that permission is handled? I don't know how to program, but if any of you clever rom hackers are around, maybe you can try tweaking this? I was thinking that it was maybe something to do with the hardware button itself, sending off multiple signals to the phone telling it to lock and unlock right after due to the shoddy power button design.
My main issue with the fix in the original post is that I use a lot of apps that require this permission, and apps are kinda what define how useful your phone is (aside from making phone calls, that is). If there was a way to fix this issue by either tweaking the "prevent phone from sleeping" permission, or maybe just trying to add an input delay that doesn't register any power button presses until half a second has passed or something.
Like I said, I don't know what is possible to tweak with android since I don't know how to program so I might just be talking out of my butt, however, I do like this phone, it just has this one major power button flaw that really annoys me!
#2 doesn't occur in ICS Roms. I'm always on auto brightness.
Some ROMS added some apps may let your phone awake automatically when you close the screen,so it is the right way to move some apps. Using ARHD ICS and Insection ICS ROMS ,#1#2problems never happend.
Basically i would like to stick to original stock rom. I know i can avoid these problems if i use custom roms.
@Tekuno
Let me tell you, i didn't delete all of those apps which were using that permission "prevent system from sleeping". I only deleted those which i mentioned in my 1st post. Among those, i installed "yahoo messenger" again and 1st problem started happening again. I removed that app, problem gone. For me it's the case of hit and trial. I can't definitely point out one specific app which cause the problems.
I think there is really a flaw in the way this permission is handled by operating system of the phone.
I would also like to keep with the stock rom if possible. I figured it would only be a few apps that would be causing the lock screen issues, I am currently too lazy to go through all of the apps and figure out which ones are causing it.
I'll wait patiently for the ICS and Sense 3.6 update and see if that helps.
i have both problems too. About no 2, i always tot it happens after using the stock camera app which forces the brightness to go maximum and sometimes after exiting, there is some bug that doesnt return setting to automatic. Just a hunch but not sure :s
Do you have "Extended quick settings" installed ? and on a custom ROM, if so then i guess you need to check the "Screen On" option in the extended quick settings dropdown window.
You must have accidentally pressed it and activated it instead.
