Run Android 1.6 SDK on Emulator w/1-click!! - G1 Android Development

well your going to do more than 1 click but very simple and i also added instructions on how to get it running!
Hey everyone I was messing around with the 1.5 emulator and wondered if it was possible to run 1.6 on the emulator "and it is" so i just added all files together so you can run the android 1.6 sdk on your desktop very quick and easy!
"its fun to play with"
INSTRUCTIONS:
1)download the .rar
2)extract the Android 1.6 emulator folder inside the .rar to your desktop
3)open folder and click on (Run_Emulator) with or without boot "your choice"
4)wait (like 5-10 minutes) then it boots up
5)enjoy 1.6 SDK on emulator
NOTE:
: i tested on widows 7 "will work on others, i think"
: I did not build the emulator at all, it was made by google devs
: all i did was added the sdk files all together
: this is just for fun nothing to special here
: dont delete any of the files inside the folder
: this is just an SDK not the hole build
DOWNLOAD:
http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=drizzy/ROM/&file=Android_1.6_Emulator_by_Drizzy_0.rar

it's fun but waiting for the actual 1.6 rom to flash...

it's not necessary to pack all that. you packed the whole tools folder from the sdk, the only files your really need are emulator.exe, ramdisk.img, run_emulator (whichever or both), and system.img
it's fun seeing how fast first boot is due to the lazy dexopting.
i'll repack and upload just the necessary parts (btw, you can add a kernel to the included ramdisk to make a boot.img and flash system and boot through adb to get this booting on your device, don't know if it's got dream drivers though.)
1.6Emulator.zip
MD5SUM:fc358b26cfff0c2950f8b8dc8ea60a99
by the way, if you already have an android sdk setup in your system, you can adb remount adb pull system with the emulator running and use the pulled files to cook a rom

hello i´m 'Osx user can somebody explain to my how i add this to osx android emulatorn?

Drizzy, http://jerz.setonhill.edu/writing/grammar/quotes/basic.htm

Doesn't seem to want to work for me. There's nothing special in this though is there, since I have the 1.6 SDK anyway?

No workey for me either.
Wanted to play around with this and give to someone who wanted to play with android.

How does that help anyone in any way with Android? Pointless...
It's interesting to see the new SDK out. Does this mean they're likely close to having the full 1.6 build ready or possibly have it ready now?

Thanks for putting this together! I could have used it last night at 3am! This is great stuff for a rookie cooker (like myself).
I just used it to cook up a rom from your Version 8.1 318 WM6. Flawless!

I didn't see any tools for if someone wants to take an already cooked ROM (the nk.nbf) and then cook from that. Just a heads up you might want to add something telling everyone how to do that.

57MB is the final compressed size of the OS (aka nk.nbf). As long as your Dump folder is under 80MB (81MB if you really push it), you're safe. If you don't mind some trial and error, you can just keep on adding packages until the *.nb builder gets an error.

I am right there with you. There are some amazing roms that I just love beyond words, but would love to take out a few things like Windows Live, and instead add the few apps I consider essential...and being a pain in the @ss to the original rom developer just to cater to my needs is not what I am into.
Thanks to theloon for this tutorial...if at some point you feel bored and would care to release an updated tutorial describing how to do this using an already cooked rom that we'd like to tweak a bit...well I'd sure appreciate it.
EDIT**
Found this thread...however, if someone who knows what the hell they are talking about could create a pictured tutorial supplementing these steps, I would be so happy, I'd name a soon to be born kitten after you (and give you the cat too...hint hint...really I mean it, I got kittens for a good home)...I am still stuck on stupid when it comes to making OEM packages and stuff though.

not a problem man. I realized that there were TONS of people on this forum that wanted to know how to do things like: "Put a program in the ROM" or "Use a Registry Tweak", so I've made it a drag-and-drop, completely automated process for beginners, while still using advanced tools for chefs like me
Yeah, this is great for starters. The command line kinda gets hard to get used to, but after a while its just like typing haha.

You need to pick a base first before you can extract anything from it. If I were you, I would use a very lite ROM as the base, so you learn how it works. But, I admire that you actually give it a shot. Good job, and I wish you luck.

Thanks I got a lot to learn.
I did grab the AT&T rom 6.1 and I was able to do the extraction 1,2,3 and everything seem to work. I just was checking out what it would do if I selected option 4 and I got the error I posted.
Question Does Option 5 populate the BASE folder?
EDIT: I got it Option 5 does populate the Base Folder for you.... Now it's time to roll up my selves and learn this stuff. ....
tinkering with it, during one step it popped up a text document that I had no idea what to do with. closed it and it gave an error, then went on as if nothing happened.
Haha. We don't want to brick our phones now Travito. [;
What is a good lite ROM to use for a Tilt/HTC. There is a lot of stuff in the AT&T 6.1 ROM. Man a lot of bloatware.
I would start with NARF's lite AT&T ROM. Just my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure it's because it is odexed and a system file. You'd need to push both the apps odex and the apk to something like /system/app or wherever your system apps are being stored

[UTIL][08.12.11] Apktool v1.4.3 - a tool for reverse engineering apk files

Brut.all said:
It is a tool for reengineering 3rd party, closed, binary Android apps. It can decode resources to nearly original form and rebuild them after making some modifications; it makes possible to debug smali code step by step. Also it makes working with app easier because of project-like files structure and automation of some repetitive tasks like building apk, etc.
It is NOT intended for piracy and other non-legal uses. It could be used for localizing, adding some features or support for custom platforms and other GOOD purposes. Just try to be fair with authors of an app, that you use and probably like.
Features:
decoding resources to nearly original form
smali debugging: SmaliDebugging
helping with some repetitive tasks

Why not? It just builds apps, not run them, so it's a question like: "Do smali can also work with Android 1.5?" ;-)
That "Android SDK installed with 2.1 platform" requirement doesn't mean, that it will build apps for 2.1 . It will just use 2.1 resources, but these are (must be) backward compatible.

Maybe much later :-/
Even if we will be able to decode it and rebuild, we'll have FC after FC. The point is: framework resources must have constant resName<->resID mappings (eg. @android:string/day must be a 0x01040298), because they are referenced by all apps and unfortunately aapt doesn't give us control over resIDs mappings. I think framework-res.apk and other system files are built using some Google's private tools.
We need to create aapt-like tool, that will use custom resIDs mappings - it should be possible and maybe not so hard, but currently I have other things to do.

Hi,
This my first step in the Android kitchen world. I've been working on an AOKP port for a week but my exams came and I found that lots of AOKP ROMs suddenly appeared. The only great ROM left was Gummy. Just finished my exams yesterday and I continued the porting. I think it will be finished today and my main 3 goals for this ROM are Speed, Stability, Support. Any help would be great as this is my first try. Please suggest to me what would the best uploading site right now.

Download a CM9 ROM from here
Open it with any archiving program (7zip for example)
Extract the boot.img (you will see it right after opening the archive)

Well Windows sucks for development. My chose is Ubuntu, it is pretty straight-forward. Here is a guide how to decompile boot.img, but I am wondering why you need this...
most of the ICS ROMs here are running on CM9 kernel, added by the procedure from my previous post
Wow. I'm extremely stupid. I thought you meant that bcm4329.ko was inside that boot.img. Sorry for my stupidity. I've finished all the necessary steps (I guess). Last question, how exactly do you compile the ROM?
Sorry For Being RUDE ..
But I Havent Understood What You Exactly Are Doing??
You are appearing as a NOOB
I'm porting the Gummy ROM (CRESPO) and I'm trying to get it to work. If your talking about the last few posts I was trying to get the CM9 kernel so that the ROM can work well. Currently I'm signing the ROM.
