CallerIDMatch Question - General Questions and Answers

I have previously changed this value from 8 to 7 on my topaz to fix the well documented caller id issue, now I would like to revert and replicate the problem but it's not possible. I have tried values from 1 to 20 (did a soft reset after each change of course) and it doesn't seem to affect the phone at all, it always detects the caller correctly whether it's an incoming or outgoing call. Any reply would be much appreciated, TIA.

[solved] Problem with Contacts and International Country Codes

So Ive been using my HTC Ozone (6.5 Standard, 3VO rom) for a while in israel, and the way the cellular network works is as follows:
country code is +972
the number that shows up on an incoming call is 052-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an incoming text is +972-52-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an outgoing call when dialing without the country code (aka 052-555-5555) is +972-052-555-5555.
All of these differences mean that if I have a number saved in the contact manager (in only one of the above forms), it isnt displayed 2/3rds of the time. If i send a text to ME(052-555-5555), the reply comes back from an unsaved number, in a new thread is +972-52-555-5555.
Is there a way for me to just save the base number (052-555-5555), and have the phone's contact manager realize that its the same number is the +92 equivalent? My current workround is saving all the forms of a number to a contact, but 1. its tedium to go through all my contacts and do this, and 2. you can only save so many numbers to a contact, which means im screwed if the contact has two different numbers.
I see all these fields in the "current country" setting, but I have no idea what they mean, or if that is even the solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hey , i got the same problem on my Omnia 2 with windows mobile version 6.5
The local incoming call won't show the country code, and sms does the opposite way.
check through all my phone setting, can not find any related option for this.
Thanks for anyone can provide a resolution.
i just resolved my problem. hope this way can help you as well.
get a regedit software on your windows mobile phone.
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Phone
under it, you should able to see a key name "CallIdMatch", change the value to maybe 8 or 9, which means it will match the last 8 or 9 numbers for each incoming call or sms. (use decimal) after the changing, reboot your phone.
Wow, it worked!!
Thanks a lot man!
thanks for the tip jason_ma!
i was also wondering about it.
Anyone know how to edit CalIidMatch an an HTC hero

Changing incoming SMS datestamp to a timestamp...

Okay, I apologize in advance to the Mods, I am not sure if this really fits under development/general or both. It's not really "ROM" Development so to speak and seems to be a generic windows mobile setting though it may be of some use to someone, as it was for myself.
My Telus branded HTC Snap(Cedar) would only datestamp incoming SMS and there is no real way to change this that I was able find (It is timestamped with the 3VO rom now). My buddy today was complaining about this exact thing today with his Telus HTC Touch(Vogue) and being as curious as I am, I did some quick comparisons in the registry values, and found this to be a simple change.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\SMS] RecvTimeStamp
With these 2 phones at least, the provider default was a setting of 0 resulting in datestamp. Setting this to a value of 1 and rebooting will allow you to have timestamped incoming SMS instead of a datestamp.

Phone number format

How do i change the phone number format in T-mo Sensation? right now its showing all numbers together.. like 9739730096. I want something like 973-973-0096. is that possible?
Also, when an incoming call comes from a person who is not in my contact, the phone number is tiny in the incoming call screen.. its pathetic.. is there a way to make that big?
The picture of the contact during the call is blurry.. not sure how why that happens..
bringing up..
I don't know how you would change the format of the numbers, in regards to incoming calls being too small of a size, do you have any vision issues? Numbers and text are smaller on these phones due to the higher resolution but not to to the point where the numbers of incoming calls are pathetically low (at least for me). When root is achieved, you could always change your LCD density and increase the general size of everything. Hope that helps in anyway

vision problem ? lol ! will you like a dial pad in such a small font? no, because it not easy to dial. Same thing.. when a call comes, you would like to see the callers name and number catchy and big in that big screen.. small font is uncomfortable..
i know some other dialer or root can solve this problem. I was asking if there is any option in sense or android to fix this ...

numbers also from gmail ... check adress book.
I am having the same issues. Mu numbers are not formatting as in my contacts when placing or receiving calls. it's showing plain numbers like 2232322323 instead of (223) 232 2323 even though the language is set to English US, anyone else is having this issue?
I have the same problem and am also wondering if there is a way to fix it.
there's an app out there that will fix it. someone posted it a day or two ago. sorry I don't have more info. I'll search through my browser history to see if I can find it
isn't that app called mylocale2 ? i had that installed, it did nothing.
MoreLocale 2 be the app
yes i tried morelocale 2 and chose english (US) from it, but didn't help at all.
I could've sworn I saw an app that would change your phone number formats but couldn't find it.
Randomly it happened for me after I imported my contacts after backing them up first. Annoyed me as normal UK format is 1234567890 so the - pissed me off!
FOUND IT!!!
will this work for you?
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.peterbaldwin.client.android.cleanup
I am not sure if that program will help me. My contacts seem to be formatted correctly. I checked it on my gmail account. when ever i receive a call it also shows a plain number like 1234567890, it has to be some kind of regional settings like in old windows mobile phones, but androids i guess use locale, and i think something might be messed up with locale...
I am still trying to figure out what phone numbers are showing without US formatting on my US T-Mobile Sensation. Both incoming and outgoing phone numbers are not showing in (xxx) xxx xxxx format, but instead just showing xxxxxxxxxx format. Can anyone who uses US version of sensation confirm if your phone numbers show in (xxx)XXX XXXX format, please?
thanks

Just change locale to English(US) in phone settings.

[Q] Incorrect phonenumber displayed when being called

Hi,
Having this strange issue that when I receive a phonecall, the number which is displayed misses the first digit.
In my case the incoming phonenumbers should have a leading zero, but this is missing.
So, if someone calls me with telephonenumber 0123456789, only 123456789 is being displayed.
This makes it impossible to return a call easily.
I checked several settings but have no idea what causes this.
Does somebody have a clue what this can be?
With no replies I assume that nobody has seens this problem or knows a solution for it.
I will try to figure what might be the problem and report this.
