After I updated my firmware to CM 4.1.99 for some reason I can't unroot it, I've tried the SAPPIMG.NBH from Theunlockr.com and one I got from here, but no avail. Does anyone else have this problem?
well i went from CM 4.1.99 to Unroot and then back to 4.1.999 and now im on Evil Hero 3.0 so i guess no i havent experienced it. how many times have you tried unrooting it since the incedent?
I tried a few times, whenever I get to the unrooting menu I press the ball and some words scroll then it just stops and nothing happens.

pull the battery, make sure SAPPIMG.nbh (named just like that) is on the root of your sdcard (helps if it is otherwise blank), replace battery, power on with volume down + power. scroll down with the trackball until it starts scrolling text. The unlockr image is verified working with my white t-mo MT3G, have used it seven or eight times. If necessary I can upload my SAPPIMG in case theunlockr has changed theirs.
Also, I have had hiccups before when unrooting with the SAPPIMG.nbh, usually resolved with performing a device wipe from the recovery menu. I might recommend RA's latest recovery image.

thankx a lot buddy......!!! u hav given the easiest way 2 root the htc g1......!!!well i had rooted it already but i know the problems i had faced but u hav told the easiest way off those problems.......!! thank u again...!!
I've tried downloading the pack twice and reformatted the memory card and it keeps saying "No Image Found" when going into bootloader. Here is my device info: 32B, HBOOT 0.95.0000, RADIO 2.22.23.02 . I don't have another memory card to test. Is there something I'm missing? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: Figured it out. Changed to FAT32 instead of FAT and worked like a charm. Thanks!
Will attempt to use this to get my radio updated. Have attempted a couple times with no success.
Best. G1. Root. Ever!
This has got to be the easiest G1 root I have ever done! I unrooted and decided to sell the phone. Couldn't reroot the phone when the seller requested root. This process fixed it! Way to go!
good idea
thanks for your package. i am trying to root and upgrade my g1 using your method but my sim card does not have data enabled. my question is- can i replace your DREAIMG.nbh with the 'RC7' DRARIMG.NBH so that i can use ADB to bypass registration screen and enable wifi. Also if I do that will I have to face the registration screen again after the ROM is flashed?
Ok. i have root and everything worked great but i cant open contacts without a force close and my pc doesn't see the g1 and the g1 doesn't see the pc!
HELP PLEASE
I have even reformatted the sdcards, with the phone and with an adapter in a pc but to no avail. i guess it isn't necessary but i sure used to be able to do it before the rooting incident
Also it has been giving me a com.google.process.gapps force close
these steps I already did at all, but finally, the rom is stuck on loading sreen for more than hours without getting started to set up the phone....can you guys let know how come?

non taken, it's been a while since I've been here, I'm glad to see there's still hope..
i have been on the fence on wether i should root or not and i think i am ready to root my evo. i have been doing some research and it looks like i have two options that would be best. i could dowload the sdk and root my phone that way or i could download the ota simple root 1click version 1.47.651.1. i saw a video on the simple root that had 4 clicks and then you had to go to extras and flash a recovery. it all seamed pretty simple but when i went to download the ota simple root file, instead of giving me 4 buttons it only gave me 2. it said it was the lastest version and so i went with it. i clicked the root button and it pulled up the command box and started doing it thing but after pushing the files it said that the adb was outdates and it was killing it got an error and it tried again went to pushing the pc36 said the adb was out of date again and gave error then continued to push the flash file os somthing like that.... and again it said adb out of date killing but gave error tried again and again and again... ect. until it went to red screen telling me when my phone screen had skating adroid men on it push power button to reboot and so on..... push any key to continue but phone never went to screen with android men. went over the whole process again and this time when red screen came up i did a factory reset and still nothing happened except for when it got to my home screen it said please wait while loading my take awhile then went to white screen with just htc and then back to home screen. i know this seems like a lot but the more thorough the better. can anyone help or point in the right direction? THANK YOU!!!
I'm not sure if z4root/unrevoked or SuperOneClick work on your device but you can investigate that easily enough. All of these are 1-click methods.
help cant find simple root for evo 4g and i cant unzip
i cant find the root program for my evo 4g i was able to download the dot net fx , the mirror, and htc sync \. i just cant find the simple root and im not able to unzip anything can some one help
I am def a newB and have taken the plunge into custom roms. I followed the directions to installing Infuse with modded 3e recovery and cwm going to rom mgr and doing the download and now my phone is just displaying "SAMSUNG" across screen its been about 10 minutes. Question is, is the rom installing or is the phone bricked and what are the signs of a brick? How would long does a wiped Infuse download usally take?
It shouldn't take that long
infuse 4g "a lot a screen real estate"
So how would i know if the phone is bricked???

take battery out and try turning it on again after putting it back in. if it starts booting and you get the lady talking, your good, but if it just sits there, you most likely have a brick.
No worries though. Just follow these steps to get back to stock and your golden:
Ultimate Unbrick Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
once your back to stock you can flash the community kernel via odin:
Community kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119598
Once this is done, your rooted (just need to download superuser from market), and you have been lagfixed(with the lady talking on boot) and you have CWM to flash roms easily (accessible via: turning phone off, holding down volume buttons, press power till you see samsung logo, then keep holding volume buttons till red text comes up)
Then you should be back to the game
I really appreciated my heart is racing right now with uncertainty. I havent done what u mentioned but i did hold the power button and volume keys and now I do have access to a red menu that says ClockworkMod recovery v2.5.1.3 - Voodoo lagfix. does this mean anything???

the update.zip wont do anything. there's nothing to flash...
Another thing you can try is to flash the rom again, since you have access to red CWM... then if that doesnt work, follow the unbrick procedure
May be dumb question but how do i flash rom from red screen(link???) thanks
Assuming you have the zip for the ROM installed to your internal SD (CWM can't find stuff on the external SD unfortunately...)
Use VolUp/VolDown to navigate through CWM.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset should always be done when changing from one ROM to another. Usually not needed when updating a ROM from a previous version of the same one.
Then choose "Install zip from sdcard" then "Choose zip from sdcard" and navigate to the zip for the ROM.
However if Voodoo Lagfix is interacting strangely with your phone, other steps may be needed.
Good news is that if you can get into CWM, at least your kernel is in decent shape.
For whatever reason I never heard the lady speaking when I installed my ROM, although I may have gone into the other room and done something else.
Well for some reason I cant go to the page with the GTG unbrick download which sucks idk maybe u can email me the zip file [email protected] if not I guess i'll be back once I get home and try to figure this thing out. smh phone down
Thanks Entrophy512 I will give this a try and get back w the results
Entrophy512 followed your directions screen is displaying SAMSUNG you have any idea about how long the phone should be in this state???
Not long
5 minutes ish
is the lady talking??

Install TiBu from the market.
Restore user apps + data - don't restore system data. You may in that case still need to put in the info for your Google account, etc and tweak some settings.
Ok im finally up and running. Question what is the proper way to turn the device completely off. I tried yesterday and I see I have an extended power off menu with various options. What do they mean? Yest I chose turn phone off and the phone went to the downloading screen with the big yellow android w the shovel. Again thanks to you all.
I went to clockworkmod's website and downloaded a cyanogen mod rom that they claimed was compatible with my device... Now the thing is bricked and I can't seem to recover the original rom... Anyone have any suggestions?
What do you see when you try to boot? Please explain little bit more. I have E739 too and CM7 works good for me.
go to the telephone service
When I turn the phone on the android on the skateboard shows up and that is all you see. It stays at that screen for about give minutes and then the system crashes.
I've tried every key combo I can think of to get it to go into recovery mode and or into clockwork mode, and nothing...
I've had that problem before. You didn't wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before installing CM7..you need to get into CWM recovery.. *From T-mobile website* To perform a master reset using hardware keys, follow these steps:
Turn off the phone.
Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys.
Wait 3 seconds and press the Back and Menu keys.
Note: If you see the LG logo before pressing the Back and Menu keys, the reset hasnt been completed and you will need to restart.
Release the Power/Lock key after you see the LG logo.
Release the remaining keys after the LG logo flashes (blinks once).
The Android Unpacking screen appears.
The phone will restart and complete the factory reset.
Note: If you unintentionally press the Volume Down, Volume Up and Power keys simultaneously, the phone will display a circle icon with two arrows and 'S/W Upgrade, Please wait while upgrading...' message. You will need to pull the battery and restart

Hopefully you backed up your ROM before installing CM7..in CWM recovery use volume keys and power button to go to Backup/restore and then restore to most recent backup.

@DarkLP: Already tried that, and it doesn't work on this model phone. I did wipe all the caches before restarting too. Not quite sure what to do next...
Timing is precise in getting into recovery, keep trying eventually you will get there, I have the same phone.
I bricked my phone too yesterday, I am really sad now. I was panicking and trying to save my phone but all it does is go into the LG logo, blinks once, and shows a half cut-off LG logo.. I tried doing that master reset thing.. are you sure it works? I'd dedicate all my time just to unbrick my phone
I was able to unbrick my phone the other day using Android SDK and the command prompt. What you need to do is have a backup of your ROM saved on your sd card. Use the command prompt to put the phone into CWM recovery mode and then choose the backup/restore option on your phone.
If the backup is stirred in the correct file on your sd card then the recovery program will automatically detect it. From there choose the file you want to install and then activate the restore process.
You should be good to go after that.
That is what i was going to say.
Ahaha I couldn't be any more happy, I went into recovery using that button combo trick, flashed C7 and a Kernel and Google Apps (you have to flash google apps if you want them) go to cyanogen mod wiki and find g-apps there. To get your cyanogen rom just google "lg mytouch roms" and you should click the android central link and then scroll down and someone posted the files for it. Only thing that went wrong is the Camera doesn't work..
It should be same as Dream G1, download a .pnh and Fastboot
Low end cheap bro.....
Tmobile Customer Service
TMO's customer service is pretty good. Call them and tell them you were installing a non market piece of software (true enough) and that your phone won't power on. They will walk you through some steps that might get you going and if not they will offer to replace your phone if it is still under warranty. I sent my defy back several times whaen I was learning to flash ROM's. Then, remember to wipe everything before you flash anything.
OK that doesn't make sense. once you root your phone, warranty gets voided.
yes i'm sure, I've had the same problem as you did. you need to keep trying.
so did you fix it?
If you are talking to me, yes I did manage to fix it and flash C7. But I want stock ROM back, anyone have the files and directions?
Now the phone wont boot into S/W mode and wont power unless powered on after my pc froze during the update
