How do you mean 'unconverted' ? I play .avi files on core player just fine, the same files that play on my pc or my dvd player.

thats hat you play on what i meant the same avi files the pc as opposed to using something like pocket divx
many thanks
all i have to do is get a working sd card the first one wouldnt work
cheers

i convert my avi file only for subtitle integration

There is a working version of tcmp somewhere on this forum that works with avi files and srt files.

does the "standard " version of the core work with srt files ? or is the one lurking on here a modded version?
thanks

lc minutes is a good freeware app.

AVI (DivX) Play on MDA3?

Hi guys
I've read a few similar requestes from others regarding playing .avi files on XDA/MDA pocket PC.
I have quite a few full length films in .avi format, abot 700mb each.
What software can I use to play these on my MDA3? I have a 1Gig SD card so shouldn't be a problem storing them.
I tried RealPlayer for pocket PC but that wouldn't play them. I have seen mention of BetaPlayer. Did a search for that and found 1000's of hits but none I downloaded would install!!!
Any help appreciated
John
i never had any problems with beta player
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1080
make sure it's arm / xcale you get
I'm using v0.04 and find it very good. I use the vidx codec for encoding rather than divx - should be in nemo codec pack. Though you might have problems playing AVIs intended for the desktop - I encode the AVIs for PPC with a max res at 320x240. Though to be honest I don't think I've tried to play desktop AVIs on my PPC.
Cheers guys,
I can get to the site http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1080 no problem BUT when I click <Download ( ARM/XSCALE )> I get a message saying hang on 3 seconds and you'll be redirected but it never happens!
It may be a problem my end as I have noticed some problems acting some sites.
I'll search for it elsewhere.
Thanks
John
Attached is v0.04 that I downloaded a while back
I convert them to WMV using Windows Media Encoder (free download from Windows Media area of MS Website) and just play them in WMPlayer on PPC.
Done a 300Mb AVI the other day, using the Pocket PC defaults option in WM Encoder, just changed the output resolution to 320x240 (XDAIIs Widescreen) and it compressed down to about 40Mb.
Perfect picture quality and Audio.
Thanks for the replies guys
How long did it take to re-encode the file down to 40Mb?
John
About 1hr, although this was on a not over powerful IBM laptop (P3 1Ghz 512mb ram)
I'm sure this would be cut down drastically on a decent desktop as the WMVEncoder seems to be quite CPU hungry

Your movies really shouldn't be that big.
Convert them to the right resolution for your PDA using Pocket DivX Player.
Perhaps they'll come to about 200MB.
Anyone can tell me which one is the best for us in term of file size, video and audio quality for PocketPC (especially O2 XDA II mini) device before I convert all my DVD to .mpg or to .wmf.
Thank you in advance
Arto.
Cheers again,
Yup, I did compress my avi files and ended up with just unde 200mb providing good quality when viewd on the MDA.
The conversion was quite quick - about 30mins or so, I was thinking it might have been an overnight job!

converting ram files

all,
does anybody know of any software (free if poss) that can convert ram files to avi or wma so that I can convert them to play on my XDaIIi. Failing that is there an application that will play ram files on my XDaIIi at all.
All suggestions welcome

You probably need Rma,Pocket Real One Player
cheers guys,
I downloaded the app and i've got great sound but no images. I did get a warning that this app was made for a previous version of PPC software. Any ideas on how to resolve this at all?

problems playing .wmv videos with tcpmp 0.81 RC1 Beta

hey guys, i have some full family guy episodes (~200 mbs) that i wanna put on my dash. when i sync them through windows media player on my desktop, it converts them to .wmv to make them about ~25 mbs. however, now i cant play them on my tcpmp player. when i try to open it gives me 2 error messages:
Player: Audio codec (windows media audio) not supported by player
Player: video codec (windows media video 9) not supported by player.
any help would be helpful... and yes i did go to file associations and make sure that .wmv is checked off, thanks

core player now plays wmv thanks to you.
whereever you have installed your core player just put the files below into and heypresto your up and running - saving lots of time batch converting etc..
Remember you may not see the files in the device window as they are hidden files... if you want to see them I am sure you know what to do...
Jay

Just install the cab?; there are 2 folders in the zip, one with a cab, and another with some dll's and a .reg
currently there is no perfectly working plugin for RMVB, at least not on Topaz. The above mentioned plug will play back in windows meida player but you won't be able to fast forward. some times the movie might get stuck and stop halfway, depends on the encoding of the file.
There is another mplayer ported for WM, it plays fine, and able to fast forward but the only problem the video is too small, may be like less than 1/8 of of the Topaz's screen size. So far it seems no one knows how to increase the resolution on that.

movie 800x480 hd2

where can download movie 800x480 for hd2
Use this - you can convert any movie into the correct size and format.
good question because I need it too
I cant watch any movies on my HD2
the convert programs makes the file so big and heavy on the HD2 !!!!
Why do u need to convert to watch movie or video file? I can watch very resolution on mine with TCPMP

Use CorePlayer, TCPMP or the old TouchHD-Converting Programm (very basic and very good for making MP4s with the optimum quality for 800x480)
Very stupid questions, sorry cos im gona say that, but u can use Core player or TCMP so u can watch every DIVX movie without problems, most of DIVX i watch on my hd2 without need of resizing.

quality.
Why bother watching in high def if you can watch on normal def?
why watch in colour if you can watch in black and white?
why bother buying a hd2 if you can make phone calls from a public phone box?
I have tcmp and pocket divx. Very impressed. No problems with size of sound. Have not tried core player. Stuck iron man into a rar and was only 700mb. Very crisp.
I think he is asking for a site where he can download movies from.
lmao
the funniest thread ever!
lol - there's some rude kids in here isn't there!
You dont need to convert them anyway, buy a 16gb card and get core player.
Works perfectly here on my HD2
I just wanna know if core player can play .rmvb video ?
It's very annoying to convert it as other format can be played directly without
conversions.
Thx to anyone who can help me.
@cmchan,
Have you tried to call MPAA? they should have a full list of the available links
So does anyone knows which app can play .rmvb files ?

On HD2, there isn't a single app that can play rmvb decently.
