Ok guys, i have gone through almost all the thread posted up in here, and other post outside xda, just to find a solution to my problem, i know there are others out there facing the same problem, and to my knowledge, our problem have not been solved or solved halfway. most of the thread i read was useful but it only took me so far,
so i am going to state my problem and my progress at the same time.
hope you can find a way to help me through this. cheers.
Ok, first of all i got T-mobile G1 (htc dream) as a gift from my Uncle, when i turned it on, i got sim network unlock screen, so i press the dismiss button and it took me straight to the home screen, where i can play music and other stuff but cant make a phone call, i tried to unlock it after reading a couple of thread from xda forum, i was asked to downgrade to rc29 since mine was the latest build (crc1) and did not have root access,
now i have been successful in downgrading it to rc29 but, after rebooting all i get is (no sim card) i cant even access my home screen,
but the post in the forum says that,i have to press enter twice and type in telnetd, which i cant since am not able to see my home screen, i also tried installing adb shell, from the android sdk, but when i typed in the command
c:> android-sdk-windows-1.0_r2\ tools> adb -d shell
the response i get is
error device not found,
now how do i get this to work?
and if am not able to hack my g1, is it possible to install windows mobile 6.5 on my g1.
cheers
1. Do you have a SIM card in it O.O
2. And as for ...c:> android-sdk-windows-1.0_r2\ tools> adb -d shell, try in CMD
CD C:\android-sdk-windows-1.0_r2\tools
C:\android-sdk-windows-1.0_r2\tools>adb shell

(but i recommend downloading 1.5)
3. Windows Mobile isnt possible with G1, Android is much better
Unlocking is different to rooting.
Rooting does not remove the network sim lock from the G1.
Currently, the only way I believe that you can remove the simlock is by asking tmobile or htc for it; or paying for it from ebay or online sites or maybe small phone shops. I don't think that you can remove it with free software or through rooting yet.
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or simply search.......Final result will be a ban for you up too 3 days.

All links are working fine here.
Nice job !!
Not my work, I'm just linking to the wiki pages that people are to stupid and lazy to look for themselves
So, the problem is me or my machine.. donna know...
By the way, upgrading bootloader is not necessary - everything works with BL 1.00

how can i extract a bootloader dumped to sd card in windows or mac or linux? (preferably mac or linux cause they have sd card readers and i can't find my usb one)
Just to confirm that mine's still working fine with Bootloader 1.00 (as if anyone would doubt Mamaich!)
freezing problem with ActiveSync 4.2
Do not connect the Universal to your desktop unless you have ActiveSync 4.5 installed in the desktop or it will freeze your device.
Disable ActiveSync connection in Universal until ActiveSync is updated.
ActiveSync 4.5 beta 2
http://www.redirectto.com/?go=645c1c6e5b
Regarding instruction 7:
# Put the Universal in bootloader mode by pressing Power + Light + Reset, which brings up an un-backlit screen with "Serial" at the top, and "v0.XX" at the bottom. (A lot of people get an error message if they are not in bootloader mode. They can install the ROM a second time. If you are in bootloader mode, you won't get an error message.)
I dont get what you mean by press Power + Light + Reset? Are you talking about the button on the phone? On my O2 XDA Atom Exec there is no light button..cuz when i open the bootloader exe it goes this is not a valid win 32 program. Bootloader is not meant to be opened from the PDa but from your computer but i cant open it.

So, is an O2 XDA Atom Exec an HTC Universal then?

Probably why it doesnt work..so i cant upgrade to WM6? I realyl dont get why Australia only have the ATOM and not the Exec?
Quick Question
I upgraded to WM6CB which I aquired from torrentspy, and the upgrade was sucessful. The device turns on after upgrade, and the extROM loads up. After the reset, a window pop-ups saying that I have illegally aquired this ROM. Im not sure what I did wrong. I used the maUpgrade file aswell. Any help is appreaciated.

I've never seen that, sounds like someone's either added in that popup as a joke, or it's from a ROM dump of one of the RTM or MVP builds, and your devices IMEI is different to the one it was for.
I know MVP's had the option of getting Crossbow, but they had to send their device to Microsoft to have it flashed. Perhaps these builds have something coded to the IMEI.
used BL 0.60 successfullty

Hi!
I have using it for 2 days. Initailly it seem difficult to install soft. But now easer, the RAM still down like WM 05, Soft Reset time quite longer then Ivan test 2's ROM. But the icon look very nice.
Alan, i think u should add the solution for "stuck in the bootloader" problem, by using UNI_exitbootloader.exe. this is much simple than using mtty IMHO.
Can someone please just confirm this:
I want to flash my Orange E650 (vox) to the latest Rom from HTC. As far as i can see i have to do the following:
1, Run the SDA Application Unlock.exe, it will greet you with "SDA successfully unlocked".
2, Turn off your Vox and remove the storage card.
3, Turn your Vox on and connect it to active sync/windows mobile device center.
4, From the Vox USPL- CID BYPASS run Uspl.bat. Follow the on screen step by step instructions. Press enter through the prompts which you have already completed in steps 1-3. On your Vox mobile you “may” be prompted to allow "itsutils" then "haret" to run, press yes both times... On running haret your screen will go black with the backlight on dim or sometimes screen is bright white.
(note all going well the screen will remain in this black or white state until step 5 has completed).
5, Now run the update RUU_Vox... update you want to flash, everything else is automated. You’re done!
I am presuming i should use the HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship rom.
Is all this correct? If not can someone please clarify so that i do not brick my phone.
Many many thanks.
andy
Yes, I got the same model and I passed the same procedure to install the same ROM. And it went great
That's great. Many thanks.
Did you notice any differencies?
In this forum were listed some changes, but the biggest one i notices: speed.
This ROM looks much faster to me. Windows Update works...
I would still suggest to check it for yourself
How long does this all take?(roughly)? Just so i don't go thinking my phone is wrecked.
Flashing itself takes something like 10 minutes I think, maybe a bit less.
Then the first boot will take sometime, don't worry. Maybe 5 minutes.
Happy flashing
Went like a dream. Many thanks to everyone for their help and more importantly their reassurances!!!
Curious how do you get a download from HTC as you need to put a serial number in and it will reject the serial from an orange branded phone.
Thanks
Well, you only get these downloads if you have a HTC branded device. But you can also get it from the xda-dev ftp. ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Smartphone/Vox/ROMs/Shipped
When I click on the link for the ftp site I get permission denied error.
Help.
Hi there,
This is my first posting to this forum. I think the people behind XDA developers are great and what they are doing is helping thousands..
So, to the point.
I have an AT&T Tilt phone (Kaiser) with the AT&T Original Rom. A while ago I upgraded with the official AT&T Rom (again win6.0). Two days ago I decided to upgrade to win6.1 and I downloaded the Official AT&T Win6.1 Rom, BUT I did not upgrade HardSpl as written in the Wiki (I thought that if I use the official ROM I didn't have to do the upgrade and I was wrong.).
So I upgraded to win6.1. The device worked great for a day and a half and I decided to install some more programs on the device when it suddently got me to the tri-colored bootscreen. Then I went online and saw my mistake (I forgot the Hard SPL update).
I read a lot of threads and the wiki. I tried to flash with the original shipped ATT ROM but I got the invalid vender ID error. I was able to flash with the official ATT ROM Update (win6.0) but the phone was still stuck on the tri-colored boot screen.
Then I tried with the mtty1.42.exe (Mitty) I had a lot of problems connecting to the device though the USB port (It was not in the list). The problem was in the computer (I was able to connect to the USB by going in the PCs Windows Device Manager, uninstalling the unknown USB device and the USB root hub drivers -right click>Uninstall, and then "Scan for hardware changes" to install them again. After that I was able to connect with Mitty through the USB)
After connecting with MITTY I couldn't execute the boot command (says "Command Error:"). I solved the problem by flashing my ATT Kaiser with with the HTC official ship rom (RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.exe)
After that I was able to execute the boot command. I had to do it 3 times for my phone to work again, but every time I rebooted it went to the tri-colored boot screen again.
I solved that problem by connecting with mitty again and entering the following commands:
- type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset. press enter to execute
- type "task 0" (no quotes) right atfter > sign to ask your device reboot. press enter to execute the command
- take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.
I want to warn you people that are not keen on computers and flashing roms to be extra cautions while performing any of those operations. If you want to keep you warranty I advice you not to fash your roms (Except with the ROMS provided by your carrier from their official websites) because this will void it.
I hope I was helpful to somebody.. Good luck !
Just an FYI ... you can flash you device back to the "original" and remove SPLs/etc to maintain your warranty but of course, you need to read and make sure you know what you're doing.
Glad to hear you got your device running again. FUN!
I'll Be Dammed

I've spent many an evening pulling my hair out thinking omg i've wrecked my phone, but after a few deep breaths and lots of searching xda-developers i've found the answers to all of the problems i've had.
Great place.! (Great people)
Hello All,
Normally I don't post and do a lot of reading, there is a lot of reading and a lots of headaches.. But never the less it is a bobbyist game. So this is the few time that I post I hope it help some of you guys out there having problem with the flashing of your Rom. But if you brick you Treo don't blame me O.K.
First of all..follow the unlock and unblock guide by navenedrob in this forum. till step 11..I can't do the SD card flashing either..so I just put the (whatever rom file without renaming it) in the tempche directory( that is the directory it generate itself when you run the Cheetah unlocker program.) then run the RUUWrapper program, then it should do the update for whtever rom you want..sometime it will tkae a few second before it takes off to update..so be very patient..and wait...
Once that is done you have to do a hard reset while the Palm logo is showing. then you should be able to do whichever rom you want..
I was able to flash back and fore from the WM6.5 to WM6.1 without any problems.
BTW I am running this in WIndows 7, I don't think it matters..but I can put the Treo in a Boot mode( the tre color screen) and the Cheetah unlock program still find it. IMF I think the cheetah program find it fast in that mode..so give it a try.
If that still don't still don't get you to where you want to be, then I guess do some more reading. there is a tons of good reading material in this forum.
Sorry for the long post..and Good Luck
yup, before that you must had step 1 running as well (connected your treo to activesync)..
How can I connected and run the unlocker if I stuck in palm logo ?? If I runs the cheetahunlocker it will stop at error connection...
Nothing to do if the phone alreary stop the activesync ... isn't it ???
Hello,
I have an HTC One Mini (m4) and have spent approximately 3 days trying to grasp various pieces of jargon and babble of the Android community without success.
Between S-OFF, S-ON, firmware, recovery, new partition layouts, old partition layouts, OTA, Stock, kernels, custom ROMs, rumrunners, firewaters, various errors, root, adb, fastboot and other meaningless pieces of broken English, I am giving up. I have spent more time ****ing with my phone than using it in the past week.
I currently run a 'version' of Sense 5.5 made by tr1gg3r3d, on Android 4.4.2. Ultimately the only thing I wanted to achieve was to have an ordinary version of Sense but without the extraneous apps that clog it up. My phone is unlocked and 'tampered' (whatever the **** that means). What I have right now does not appear to update correctly and does not run certain apps that dislike root. The SD permissions do not work.
It is more or less useless for what I need it for.
I saw a ROM for Sense 6 here that requires 'S-OFF'... after spending 3 days jumping through hoops and following badly written instructions for 'S-OFF', and failing each time, trying around 4 different ROMs and script files that tell you nothing of what they're actually doing, I have given up trying to achieve 'S-OFF'. Do I even know what 'S-OFF' is? No.
Can someone give me simple instructions on how to achieve the following:
A phone running HTC Sense 6 (or even just 5.5) that behaves normally, isn't gimped with pointless graphics and allows the extra apps to be removed.
Preferably 'unrooted' as I use apps that dislike root.
Ideally recognised as 'official' HTC so that updates can be delivered without having to spend a week wading through 90 page forum threads.
Thanks in advance.
Your 3days of reading have obviously been a complete waste of time bud as you posted in the wrong thread [emoji33]
Maybe you should have also read and understood the implications of unlocking, rooting your phone before you done so. It is well documented that certain apps eg.. banking ones etc will not work on rooted devices.. BUT there are certain modules created that can cloak root and may allow the app to work. As for removing unnecessary apps... There as also scripts/tools available to do so. It's all here on xda!
Slating a devs Rom that they have spent countless unpaid hours to bring to the xda community (that works flawlessly) is not the way to get help, nor is slating the guides/advice that other members have taken the time to post! Seems that you want the best of both worlds. There are guides on here that will help on whatever you choose to do if you can decipher all the babble/jargon and meaningless broken English.

Had a similar experience myself trying to return to stock, for me I was getting cheesed off with the bugs and lack of working bank apps on custom ROMS.
I fixed it by following, and reading in between the lines, on this fellows instructions here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...m-official-stock-android-4-3-sense-5-t2837799
I posted a similar help thread myself a few days ago, someone has replied to say S-OFF isn't crucial to doing this so worth a go maybe. I however did get S-OFF by using the method detailed here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573479
I should tell you I was on HBOOT2.19. Not sure how important that is.
So here it was I did to get S-OFF
You've obviously got ADB working on your device so lets skip that.
1.Download revone: http://revolutionary.io/revone and copy it into the same folder as your ADB.
2. Open a CMD prompt and type these commands:
Code:
adb push revone /data/local/tmp/
adb shell
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/revone
Now wait a minute. I found I always got kicked out of the shell after 20 seconds or so, if you do then run adb shell once again.
3. Now type the below text. It is case sensitive so make sure that -P in the second command is uppercase:
Code:
cd /data/local/tmp
./revone -P
4.You'll get an error message, it should be "-2". This is good. Restart your phone using the power button.
5.Once you're back in open up the shell again and run the following commands:
Code:
adb shell
CD /data/local/tmp
./revone -s 0 -u
BAM! You're now in S-OFF mode.
HBOOT 2.2
I used this thread to get to HBOOT 2.22
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584810
Whilst the instructions are fairly simple I will say it is case sensitive. So when you do
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
the RUU has to be in capital letters.
How to return to stock
1. First you need to get yourself TWRP recovery from here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/216 and copy the .img file into the same directory as ADB and fastboot.
2. To flash the recovery you need to go into fastboot (hold the power button and the and the volume down button together from a cold boot) and type from a CMD prompt
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
where recovery.img is the name of the download.
Mine was called openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-m4.img so I'd use this text:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-m4.img
3. Once you've flashed the recovery go into recovery and make a backup from the backup menu.
4. Download every file from the link provided in the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...m-official-stock-android-4-3-sense-5-t2837799
5. You're going to have to use WinRAR or 7Archive to unzip the RAR files. You'll get a random folder and a stock recovery.img file.
What I did (or eventually did after lots of trail and error) was attached my phone then deleted the backup content in the TWRP folder. I did NOT delete the folders. Just the files within. Then I copied the extracted content from the download folder into the backup folder I'd just emptied on the phone.
6. Now drop back into the recovery again. First make sure what we did in step 5 worked. If you go into Restore can you see the files we generated earlier? Brilliant. Wipe the cache, factory and delvik (I think Delvik is in the advanced settings, obviously don't have it to hand now i'm back on stock!)
7. Now run a restore which should take a few minutes.
8. Reboot the phone but drop straight back into the Bootloader (power and volume down button pressed)
9. If you haven't copied boot.emmc.win into the ADB folder do so now. Whilst you're at it copy the stock recovery.img file into the same folder and rename it to stockrecovery (take the space out).
From a CMD prompt type :
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.emmc.win/
10. Now we flash the Stock recovery using:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery stockrecovery.img
11. Now relock the OEM thingy by using
Code:
fastboot oem lock
BAM! You're back to a stock albeit a really crappy version based somewhere in the Middle East. But fear not. Boot in, setup your phone and in the Settings area you can run a software update. This will take you to Android 4.3. Once you're in run another software update to go to 4.4.2 with Sense 5.5. Once you've done that do yet another Software Update to get to 4.4.2 with Sense 6.
At this point I did a factory reset from the settings menu. Not sure if it was needed but just wanted any legacy crap completely killing off.
Also you'll see a message about it being a test device. I Google'd it and people said this is because you're S-OFF. It's not important. Nothing is going to HTC, it's merely a log file thingy.
And that my friend, is how my three day headache got me from a rather buggy custom ROM back to Stock. Enjoy.
elmuziko.
Absolutely brilliant post. I can verify that your method to s-off the phone and update to 2.22 works perfectly. I did it 2 days ago.
I changed my cid using supercid. Do you think I should return my cid to its original value before attempting to return to stock or does it matter??

Ok, Now, I bought this Mobile in Dubai, Middle East and while i was waiting eagerly for Lollipop Update and the HTC did the cheating, i decided to try some custom roms and in between the process i wiped my internal memory which means i lost my original stock rom. Somehow i got this M4_4.14.401.1_Stock_v3.0.0 flashed it and now my mobile works flawlessly, the thing is the mobile is "TAMPERED" "UNLOCKED" & "S-ON", i tried all the process to S-OFF, i tried sunshine but spending 25$ on something which is available free, i would not do that. Can you please suggest me what is wrong that i am doing here, because i found one more option which says i have to downgrade my HTC ONE MINI to S-Off, Pity is that to downgrade i need my mobile to be S-Off. I am really exhausted and would appreciate alot if you can help me get S-Off. There are my links which are broken, like the revone after a lots of struggle i downloaded it. i have posted 3 queries on XDA forum but none has been answered. I would Really Really appreciate if you can save me from my misery.
