The Topaz is fiddly to soft reset. You don't want to keep opening the back to get to the soft reset red button. This is a pain. I use this programme. It is small, simple and does exactly what it says on the tin. Thanks to Raissak.

Maybe some will not agree wit me, but I don't find the usefulness of soft-resetting applications.
I mean if the phone is usable (i.e. not locked by an application, game etc.) you can soft-reset by pressing the Power button, tapping Yes and then press Power button again.
The problem comes when the phone gets locked by an application.
Here, I cannot soft-reset either using the Power button or using a soft-resetting application.
In this case you still have to open the back cover.

Very good point. However, I am constantly changing my programs which requires a lot of soft resetting. I am too lazy even to press the Power button and so want a small app to do this for me!!!!

I can understand why he'd want that. Before my Touch Cruise, I had a Qtek 8310 (HTC Tornado) and WM Smartphone editions bring up a quick menu when you press the off button. In WM6 one of the options there is restart. IMO, much easier to do this than to pull out my stylus and push the restart pin.
I haven't got any problems with resetting whith the stylus, but for a menu to appear when I push the power button...
You can also press the on/off button for some seconds. The Cruise will switch off and reboot on next keypress.
found the tool (see attachment)
The reason why I like this is for example when my phone is in my carholder and I want to reset it it's easier to do it by this software (placed a link in my start menu) then pushing and holding and pushing again
Qoka thanks for the tool anyway!

Help! My Diamond can't be soft-reset

Dear all,
I just got my loved Diamond, but when I poke the hole which is beside the usb plug, nothing happen,
what's wrong with my phone? hardware's problem?
Thanks for your any answer.
a diamond is suppose to be hard!
how can u make a diamond soft!? haha
The soft-reset button on the diamond is not next to the usb. You have to take off the back-cover and remove the stylus and you will find it near the bottom under where the stylus is...

thats a pain in the arse
Maybe install something like 'Devstate' for example (a today screen plugin) providing it works with the diamond and it will let you soft reset from an option on the today screen.
just try this
Start - system - Clear Storage - 1234

that is Hard Reset , all will be removed and the ROM will be restored
just a long press on the Power button and a menu would appear to restart
you're poking the wrong hole - the hole you're poking is a hole for a lanyard.
like mentioned above, the soft-reset button is red, and is located near the stylus silo.
pull out the stylus, turn the phone on its back with the rear camera facing up, and you'll see it.

What is CTRL+ALT+DEL in WM 6.1????

I have TPro (Raphael) and running ROMeOS2 and at times my phone freezes up - is there a reboot key sequence it has like we have in PC??
the reset button
if you're referring to hard reset button; then that is not what i am trying to look. i am trying to do a soft reset using some key sequence.
on the bottom of the phone, to the right of the USB plug.... is a small hole... take stylus, push button in hole.
voila reboot..
not a hard reset, just a simple reboot.
actually...
well ctrl+alt+delete actually brings up the task manager allowing you to kill frozen programs in windows xp and in vista it brings up a menu with several options the main one being task manager. Usually what I do on mine when it crashes is to try hitting the call key or end call the two hard buttons at the bottom, one of them can usually at least get me back to the home screen where I can kill it from the task manager. I don't know if there is a more dependable way to do it.

Soft reset/shut down-cab

Anyone that could give me tips for an soft reset cab?
I now use xdashutdown but on my TD2 the symbols are tiny.
I am looking for a cab with soft reset and power off in the same app,not just soft reset.
And yes,i have been searching, but find nothing.
Hi,
Try to search A-A Reset
BYE, Bobo
Have tried that, but in TF3D i can not see A-A Reset in the program list.
I must use file explorer to look it up.Even if i install the A-A reset cab...
I want something i can put in the program menu,so i can reach it fast.
wouldn't it be easier to just press and hlod the power button ? It closes the phone and when you press it again, there you have it : a soft reset. (only one button, and no installation needed)
It's a .exe no .cab.

It 'true, but the virtual button preserves the hardware key, especially for those who make frequent soft reset.
And also you can schedule
Because my cooking activities I've to soft-reset lot.
One of the first programs I put in a ROM is ClearTemp.
Has a option to soft-reset.

forgot where i got this, but it is here from xda developers... but this is the best so far... real credit to whoever made this, sorry I forgot the creator hehehe.. I am just passing this must have app to you guys...
what I do, is change the right soft key of TF3D2 from camera to Shut Down using some registry tweak, so I can shut down real fast without using the hardware power button...
cheers
I use My Soft-reset and it works well on D2.
HD Tweak comes with a separate app 'HD Soft Reset'. It appears in your programs and can therefore be saved as a shortcut in Start/Programs separate from HD Tweak. I use it, and it works fine! Just another idea to add to those above.

I use wei's soft softreset (freeware)

does work fine, I hate the ugly button... (= small blown up button)
- empty - sorry!

Soft Reset Command?

Hey all, just got my TP2 and I'm really enjoying it. Its a hell of a lot nicer than the Titan and i760 that I've been swapping between the past two years. Quick question though:
Is there a command somewhere in WM6.1 that will allow me to soft-reset the device? I really don't want to wear out the plastic cover on the back by taking it on and off over and over again to press the reset button.
Thanks in advance,
Dustin
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe if you power it down with the red "end call" button and then power it back up with the same button it is equivalent to a soft reset. But if you are looking for a shortcut in windows to do that you can try the various task managers out there like pbar, wisbar lite, ect. They have soft reset options with a very small footprint on the memory.
You are correct. And technically speaking, using the power on/off commits all changes to memory.
I used SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 on my old phones that had a shortcut for it, but I wasn't sure if HTC had an equivalent. I'm really debating on switching back to SPB, but I hear that MS 3.0 isn't perfectly functional with the TP2 yet.
Thanks for your help!
Check this out. It gives you the option to soft reset on the norification when you hold down the power button. I like it.

Try ActionScreen
ActionScreen does this by popping up a selection screen when you hold down the power button for 3 seconds. There are many actions to choose from and one of them is Soft Reset. I've been running it for a few days and it seems to work fine and be unobtrusive.

I think there is a option on the setting manual "wipe all memory" or something like that.
On mine, by holding down the "End Call" button for 3 or 4 seconds, I get a prompt with the following options.
Display Off
Turn Off
Soft Reset
Hard Reset (icon on upper right (a little scary))
Plus icons for
Device Lock Settings
Setting timer actions
Setting Today Icon for this prompt
The prompts displays as Touch Pro 2 Shut Down Option
I have quite a bit of 3rd party software, but I believe this is native to the device. Try it and see what happens.
I don't get those, but I am on a custom rom. I have:
Turn Airplane Mode On
Lock Device
Terminate Data Connection
Set Vibrate
Settings...
sorry double post.
As mentioned these are the two most common:
psSHUTXP and XDAshutdown.
I used XDAshutdown.

Here is the best skin IMO.

I have attached all here
For applying skins for XDA shutdown:
Over write the files in this folder assuming you installed to a storage card:
\Storage Card\Program Files\xdaShutdown
