I have samsung i640 with windows 6.0 standard and support for about 10 languages.
Anyway, i don't use any of them. 2 or 3 years ago i have read about translating/changing language without installing new ROM.
How to do that? please put some links here...

Hi Peoples.
I move in Februar with my wife and my Baby to Sweden and now i want to change the language in my XDA mini to Swedish.

As far as I know, there are no such thing as a Swedish ROM.
In order to get a Swedish wordlist you could probably add a custom word dictionary. Perhaps someone has done this before?
I guess XDA volumes aren't high enough to justify Swedish sw. Perhaps there are any third-party applications that does the same trick?
Please let me know if you find out.

I need some help...
I've an english H5450, and i want make it italian.
Now I have updated it from PPC2002 ENG to PPC2003 ITA, using this metod:
* Modifty the ROM file, to have a fake "english" ROM,
* Start the upgrade
* It validate the language
* Replace with the correct ROM file
* Flash
Now the iPaq as Italian software, but I can do any official update, becouse he think that it is English (at the boot it say "v. 2.00.3 ENG", and I can read the same in the asset viewer).
I tried to do english update, but now my iPaq speaks italian, englis, and spanish ( :shock: ). Now I'm waiting to re-flash it...
How can I change the language one times forever?
I think that I need to change the asset....
I read that shoul be a command, if I use the "bootloader mode" and send command via mtty.
Or there isa nother way to reflash all?

You will be unlikely to find any answers here as the iPaq H5450 is not manafactured by HTC and is therefore not the topic of discussion in these forums. I'd suggest you search for a forum or user group that caters for iPaq devices. Google is your friend! :wink: Good luck.

I bought a Qtek S200 in Zurich before leaving to China, where I live.
I did the already clasic mistake of not looking to the OS language. Was German. I am Spanins and I would need at least English version.
I have been surfing a lot until I saw this forum.
Could somebody tell me how to moev to English ? Seems that I need to change the ROM. Does this will change ALL menus in he Win Mobile ?
I saw a smart card JAFWM. Coudl be this a good and simple solution to my problem of language change ?

1. To change to English, flash the device with English ROM. You can choose between Qtek, Dopod, i-mate, etc.
2. To get the one of the English ROMS, go here to download: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Prophet/Shipped_Complete_Updates/

Hello. I've flashed my qtek 8310 with WM6.1 Pro ROM by MietasSR and after many attempts I've installed a language pack to have italian xt9. Now the problem is that pressing * key let me change xt9 language, but when I try to write a message I can't obtain letters but numbers only even if xt9 or abc mode symbol are displayed at the top of screen. I have to make any registry change? Where?

Suggestion for you and all. When posting an issue regarding a particular ROM you've just flashed. Post inside the thread for that ROM you flashed. That increases the chances of the cooker to read your post and other users who flashed same ROM could give you advice as well. I don't have an advise to this issue. I've read this problem one or more ROM's, not sure if MiestasSR is one of them. Good Luck

Thank you for your answer. I've already installed italian t9 library (that one you said too), but when I try to input letters in my messages I can write numbers only even if I select xt9 or abc mode. I think there has to be some registry voice regarding input to modify, but I don't know how, I've already readen t9 tutorials but cannot resolve my troubles.

First of all tell me have you installed the italian mui over your Windows Mobile ? have you installed any italian rom cooked from here, coz WWE some times become non responsive.
Why not give another rom a try (just like me, coz no one is giving me suggestions in my fail thread)
Just curious if you have isntalled your italian mui or not ?
There might be incampatibility with the WM rom too u r using

Hi. No just xt9 multi language pack, ROM user interface language is English.

I made just a fresh ROM installation after normal upgrade routine (formatBINFS and so on) ...don't have installed other files.

you need italian mui first, then ur xt9 will work, since its the mui which allows u to type all the characters of ur locale + language interface to GUI.
You need italian mui first, I havent found any right now (googled). Then install xt9
otherwise find a WWE rom here (which in case i didnt find too in WM6.1)
why not try an older version of WM6 instead, i think andot did that pretty much older (WWE version)
I have found this localization cab, its for WM6 though
You may give it a try.
I recommend you CLEAR STORAGE first
then on fresh boot, install this cab file and then reboot. After that install xt9[/b]

I can not find much info on this forum for my phone, but I know that this forum was very helpful when i owned a tilt II. I now have a Toshiba G910 portege, but it's in Russian. So from the research I have been doing, I guess the ROM is Russian & you can't just "change the language setting" to English? So I need to replace the ROM with an english ROM..??
Anyway I know this forum is primarily for HTC phones, but can anyone tell me the general steps needed to replace this ROM or get it in English?
