After much digging and digging, I cant seem to find the glorious palm pre rom any where! I've seen videos for it on youtube and that about it. I searched the forums here and google. Found nothing!
I currently have Qteks Hero rom installed. I don't have any weird issues with it besides it being stupid slow, and tolerable with touchflo turned off. I would like to check out a speedier rom.
If that doesn't work, Im seriously debating about going back to googles official cupcake since there "flan" update is just around the corner!
Where can I find the palm pre rom for 32b?

I did read an argument about that, but I would have suspected that it would have been around. What would you suggest besides Hero ROM? IMO its a little wonky, and it see,s like that for everyone else to.
I dunno; I've been running evil hero 1.8 since it was released a few days ago, and have had no issues with it (it actually seemed smoother than the actual Hero hardware that I played with earlier today!)
In before a passing mod napalms this thread.
Joking aside, if you're not running Cyanogen, you're only running your device at about half capacity. Hero roms are very pretty and all, but not usable in my opinion for daily phone use.
There are many themes over in the Dream theme forum which will work fine over the top of Cyan on a Magic. I recommend the community Hero theme, glossy edition.
If all you've ever run is stock and Hero, you'll be in for a treat with that combination. In fact (blowing my own trumpet here) grab my mods to the browser (see my sig) and you won't be missing much from Hero at all.

As for jacxrom v Cyan, in my humble opinion it's no context - although both are infintely better than running stock.
Here's a thought.
Possibly put in a formal request...other than Palm's infinite power to file a lawsuit for anything looking too similar; there isn't much to worry about.
I think that a fully fashioned Palm Pre theme would be pretty kick ass.
(Just my opinion folks.)
Ok, So the "Community Hero" looks awesome! Im cunfused on how to load the theme on my MT3G 32B. Do I apply it like I did Qtek? (Flash, Partition the drive into 3, load rom as updat.zip?

I have to completly disagree with you on the Hero is not usable every day. I have used a version everyday since June on my G1 and now everyday for that last month on mytouch with no issues and I use one of these phones everyday. Browser, Texting, calls, widgets, everything.
I second that hero is nice but not for My everyday use, especially when dealing with tons of emails and needing a bluetooth head set to talk.
OP PM me for your original request. Seems like its about to turn into UFC rom fight in here

Right.
Do a wipe, including your sd card
Flash cyanogen 4.0.4
Let it boot once
Flash the theme over the top of it (do NOT wipe)
And you should be good to go.

hi ive just managed to root my phone after the 100th time! i have a hero theme on the phone supplied by fatality which is a bit slow for me. Can anybody supply links to some recommended roms please preferably very fast!
cheers guys
edit: forgot to add i have a uk vodafone magic with 32b board. cheers
You can find all roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=493
i have seen those but would like to hear peoples opinions on the roms they have used in their magic and which they recommend
i think you have 32b version.. well yeah hero is slow. i had one i used Cyanogen roms.. its light.
well for 32a i have..i use hero rom.. its not fatality one. i dont know were i got it from. but works gr8. no wifi problems. sync works . everythig is perfect.. sometimes i feel that i am using HTC HERO..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531837
its from here HERO-8
I'm using this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538633
The best one I've tried so far
ok thanks for the replies! these all look good but anybody else have any preferences?
I'm using the same ROM as Malky1903. It's fast and stable and has some nice features. Root access, battery status on the lock screen, cpu overclocker (not really needed though), menu is 5 icons wide rather than 4 icons, and the home screen can be scrolled over 5 screens rather than 3. There are also other small enhancements like the animations (taken from the hero rom) and other tweaks that seem to make it run really nicely.
I've tried 2 Hero ROMs and have given up pretty quickly after both occasions - the 32B Magic just doesn't seem very capable on this ROMs IMHO.
I'm still looking for the perfect ROM but am going to leave it for a while I think. CyanogenMod v3.6.8 is pretty close - just need that Exchange sync to work and I will be very happy! There is some good stuff coming with all the new Donut threads appearing ... but it looks like we could be a few weeks from getting stable builds out of there yet.
There is a list of the available ROMs at the bottom of the sapphire wiki page.

I was wondering if there's any mileage in adding to the Wiki somewhere, so that there's a listing for each ROM and its specific feature list. Maybe even some kind of matrix with the common features all listed, and ticks or crosses depending on whether a particular ROM has it or not. For me, Exchange compatibility is absolutely, positively, crucial so there really isn't much point me flashing some of these ROMs to find it's not there. Having to trawl through the ROM's own specific thread on the forum (and often such things are not seen as important by others on the thread, so are not mentioned) to find such info is a real drag.
Was looking into installing the hero rom on my magic
was going to use
JACHeroSKI 2.7.3
looking at the good replies
anyone have any other suggestions?
something that ALL the features work without problems (wifi, bluetooth, etc) and no lag?
thanks in advance!

Umm Best is all relevant no matter what rom u choose there are going to be issues and might want to post this in the general section
ive tried a few and feel that qteks swap hero is the fastest running
available here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540745
I think Qteks or eVIL D Hero rom are currently the fastest/best for 32B.
thanks everyone!
will try the qteks
and im sorry for posting in the wrong section
I used qtek on my mt3g and it looked great and ran amazing. the browser is double touch and works really well also has flash. but it killed my battery from 76% to 20 in 30 mins of use.
Have to agree, I've been using the qtek ROM for a week or so now and am loving it. Theres a bit of lag when switching between heavy duty apps ie copilot but no real show shoppers. By the looks of it though there are some interesting things happening on the dream boards that will go on our sapphires quite easily.
Until then I'm sticking with qteks swap version.
Have fun
Just curious I have the dreaded perfect spl that they have rooted! YAY! But that's not the point, I was wondering if it is actually necessary to root my phone to install a hero rom? If it is I have everything ready already made the gold card and all that stuff! Thanks for the help.
Yes you have to change the SPL is you want to load custom ROM.
I tried qtek's compache rom, Worked really well the first time... Then next reboot most of the text on the icons were replaced with Squares... Made it unuseable.... Hmm.. I am going to try the swap version now.
qteks works but my sms doesnt work which is a show stopper wit me
JacHero 1.2. BT and LED's work. BUT wifi does not.
From using CyanogenMOD, to Qteks ROM, to JACxHero 2.7.4r2. The best form my experience has been JACxHero, I know that Cyanogen isn't a hero ROM, but it is a very well known ROM that some may try. Qtecks ROM was nice, but because the SMS did not work it was no dice. JACxHero is very fast once you change your home screen up a bit, SMS works, WiFi works. They only downside, that I've experienced is that when you go to create a text message and you turn the phone sideways to type in landscape mode, the keyboard does not change. It changes for any other app and the browser, but doesn't change for messaging. So my vote will be JACxHero 2.7.4r2
Testing ZeroXd's port... seems very speedy and fluid...
Someone else's opinion about it ?
Unfortunately I am having a little snag her... evil and Jacxhero just sit there and loop at the "Hero" starting screen and fatla1ty doesn't have the screen problem with the pixelization (spelling?) but the rom is incredibly slow! Qteks was nice and fast but as stated before the screen problems are too much, I guess I might wait a little while until something not so buggy comes out. Unless some one knows of something better or some other rom's that I haven't tried..... or how to fix the looping problem on evil's rom and Jacxhero? - Thanks JinX

im using MT3G, JACHero 2.7.3, works great! although, i hate how i always get the loading "htc" screen after going through too many apps or trying to change the wall paper. still with this problem, i'd say this Hero ROM is the best. ive tried (evil Hero, Drizzy V3, and ZeroXd)... they all had major lag. or maybe its just me. lol.

I too have tried different ROMs and the latest one I've flashed is Drizzy's Hero-V1.2r1 [09/09/2009]. It has been 2 days of use and I am really liking it. It is clean and apps have worked well. I think there is a v1.3 coming soon so look out for that one.
My two favorites right now are Modaco 1.5 and Evil Hero 2.3xx. IMO Modaco is a little bit quicker/smoother with Sense UI but since Evil is sporting BFS the responsiveness of some of the apps is MUCH better.
Currently I'm running Evil but I literally just flashed it 2 hours ago so I'm still playing around with it / testing it. I also just got my class 6 sd card in the mail so I'm about to partition that bad boy and reinstall a Rom. Can't decide if I want to try Modaco or Evil first...
id say none atm as they all have annoying problems of swallowing up them all important messages
have a cyanogenmod rom there fast as **** and customisable summit rotten
As of now MoDaCo 1.5
I´m new posting here, but I´d been searching for a while in this forum for a Sense Rom that makes me forget enomther´s 1.6 Rom (the one I revert back after getting tired of FC´s and Homescreen Loads of the latest Rom) and I had finally found the first native looking 32B SenseRom.
The curiosity is that I found it in Dream´s Dev Forum...based on one Rom from guess who: Eugene!
[ROM] Sense Revolution v.2.2:

Good News: I´d installed this Rom with just one partition (fat32 of course)= Fastest ever Sense xperience you´ll ever enjoy+ no FC+ NO HOME LOADS.
Bad News: some typical problems with Bluetooth, Wifi, G-Sensors and Graphics errors when gaming (Speedforge and Head to Head Racing) due to RAM hack craps.

If you are tired of home loads using a Sense Rom, in my modest opinnion you should stick to Qtek´s latest work.

I would've said this was the wrong place for this but it's actually pretty helpful. I didn't notice it in the dream section. Seems that's the only place 32b magic users find most roms.
Thanks for the heads up justclimb, flashing right now just to try it out. Wifi's a bummer. I use that ALOT.
Update: Wifi seems to be working on it. It's a little sluggish though, i'm going to reflash with the proper partitions.

well i think this is a good poll my vote is hero_over it's very stable and super fast and no lag in the homescreen you need a swap and ext but thats is no problem with the new amon recovery ;-) and the best thing is wifi g-sensor works ;-) i tryed many roms so... this runs best for me
If only ttran001's OTPA Sense UI ROM was here i would vote for that.
I've been using it for 4 weeks now and its the smoothest thing i've ever tried
have any one tried the rom by maxima
as the guys at the unlockr recommend it as the best ROM
It is the best, right after ttran001's ROM.
Maxisma's got the kernel problem with SOME! people being able to use the ROM and some people not.
ttran001 had that problem too, but he fixed it by a reverting patch to another kernel.
SO how does Trojan Final Hero stack up against the roms of ttrann001 and maxima's?
Ive got the Trojan Final Hero rom installed, almost never had the loading screen but every app i launch does take two seconds or so to actually boot up, you click, screen goes black for a few secs and i see the app. However ive not had a homescreen reload yet. I do have to use 128mb swap to prevent that tho.
Since some chefs had sadly abandoned this forum...
I´ve just added some links to their newest work.
I also wanted to add after i saw you linked eugene's old rom, that SuperMagic is one of the BEST roms i've ever tried. i liked it better than trojan rom!
It doesn't have the regular sense ui rosie but it's very solid and pretty snappy. My only problem was every now and then getting loading screens, i believe it was because i was using 32mb swap. I'm probably going to restore my nandroid backup and try that out again!
Currently trying qtek's and loving it!
It's a close call between eugene's and qtek's. very close.

I did. Think i don't like about it is it took a great deal of time to open apps/settings/widgets. that's my gripe with most hero roms, the wait time on answering the phone, opening up a map when i need it open and flipping through multiple settings.
Hero over's nice, but supermagic just stomped it when it came to snappyness in between different apps and things of that sort.
Maybe i did something wrong in the settings, i'll probably give it a try. I've tried alot of roms, it's possible i might've made a setup mistake.
Devs had both jumped out or stopped their work on 32B SenseRoms...
One thing amazes me: Why on the Hell doesn´t HTC put a Donut or Eclair Update into their 32a Magics?
Since it all keeps the same, no one seems to relaunch the dev-party...

I might be wrong about hero_over´s ROM, but I first abandoned it due to battery problems, and afterwards I return to it after some positive comments and noticed that the very same problems kept going. Then I tried pulling some widgets out of my home screen, and now battery lasts for two days of normal use: Music Widget was the cause.
Arguably the fastest and balanced Sense Rom out there, Mlign´s 3.0 was my last try, nothing kept my attention.
I´ll take it for a round...
Poll battle is a fierce one on the top

Qtek´s is the most reliable, the latest 2.2 version lacks swap management, wait a little for Qtek´s work to finished and you´ll had the fastest Rom in there:
Until then I keep using Herver´s, and appart from a few battery nightmares, the rom is reasonably fast, so it´s easely recomendable.
Not sure it should be some kind of competition, but if it is about giving a shout out to a dev's ROM that has really impressed then I've got to say;
Hero_over
I've had this ROM on my phone since last friday and I haven't had a FC, home restart or noticeable slow down even yet! No other Hero ROM has given me that, nor have I been able to keep any other Hero ROM on the phone for more than a couple of days. I tried multiple different Hero ROMs but day-to-day useability just wasn't there if I was being honest with myself. I gave up on Hero on the 32b and went to CM, I used his and upgraded right up to the latest 4.2.5 with Enoch as a theme. That ROM is seriously fast, yet Hero_over hasn't suffered in comparison. A friend has a Hero and we couldn't see any difference in use, can't say fairer than that.
The only thing I haven't got working is BT, but I haven't tried a headset and I haven't really investigated any soultions in the thread as I don't use BT.
I switch between different sense ui ROM. Now, I found a ROM made for G1 but also compatible with MT3G. It runs smoothly on my 32B device.

That´s a good ROM based on Drizzy´s...yet you should know that Vodafone 32b´s have some isues with graphics as well as some unspected reboots.
PD: I´m downloading Qtek´s latest version 2.3: Link updated.
How come ttran001's newest rom is not in this list? I think it's an awesome rom. Incredibly stable, pretty snappy, and it's just as good as Qtek's in my opinion. It should be updated.
(taken from engadget)
Droid, Milestone, Eris, Moment, Spica, even the Hero, all have had their Eclair, one way or another. G1 and myTouch 3G? Not so much. But don't worry, Android early adopters, because Cyanogen's got your back. Most all the bells, whistles and hardware-accelerated graphics of Android 2.1 are coming to the HTC Dream, Magic and Sapphire in CyanogenMod 5.0.7, and you can see a video of a T-Mobile G1 running the new build after the break. Twitter buzz indicates the ROM will be out any minute now; the dev himself tweeted that it's ready to go and just needs G1-friendly bite size packaging.
There is video also.
Tried to submit with links but got "To prevent spam to the forums, new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed."

Update: Don't stay up all night waiting -- Cyanogen says he's got "two more bugs to kill" and is "hoping for a test1 public beta tomorrow night."
Sweet this is really gonna annoy my bro xD he's been banging on about his nexus and how much it cost and how great 2.1 is
what about 32A?
this looks great!!!!...cannot wait for this to come out. I have tried some other various ports of the 2.1 they all seemed very choopy and needed alot more work... I am a very busy guy that needs stuff to work when I tap the screen to make it work, Cant wait around for things to happen....Cyanogen's build looks very smooth and responds very well....when will we know when it gets released?
For the latest news, including the release (which should be tonight according to cyanogen) you can keep an eye on twitter(DOT)com/cyanogen
I haven't really looked forward to the release of a ROM in a while. If what Cyanogen is saying in his Twitter is all correct (everything working with 2.1), then this one is the one.

I totally agree with you on this one.....I was having a hard time putting the latest super D rom back onto my G1 after flashing one of the other 2.1 ports...so I am now currently running [ROM]TheOfficial DONUT TMO, ADP & AOSP (dream/magic)(EBI0/EBI1) [3/17/2010] -- v2.6.3 (which is also found here btw) with the Buuf theme...it is an alright ROM but this 2.1 port that Mr. Cyanogen released with help with other various "modders"....it looks great...flashin it as I am typing (YAY)
THANX TO ALL MODDERS INVOLVED WITH THIS BUILD
just a quick thought....i just finished flashing this rom to my G1 and I was thinking that it would be cool to add the nexus "X" boot screen that would cross over into the cyanogen symbol....would try to make it myself but I do not have the slightest clue on how to do that!!
Just to let everyone know the rom is up and running great. I got it on my mt3g 32B. Only thing is that the LED notification light is purple. Could anyone please tell me how to change it. thanks.
Does this work with the mytouch 1.2 with 3.5 jack? I am new to this and hoping to get some help. I just want to make sure I got this right.
1. Backup my phone. What do I use to do this?
2. Root my phone.
3. Flash phone with new rom.
If anyone could point me in the right direction on how to flash a phone I would appreciate it. Thanks

yes i know that I am quoting one of my previous posts but....THIS ROM IS F-IN AWESOME
GREAT JOB MODDERS!!!!!
I cannot believe I've never even so much as heard of this anyhwere on XDA before until a few days ago in the "explanation of keyboard lag" thread. I forget who it was that posted it, but I came across this link
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-hero-roms-hacks/9522-sprint-2-1-leak.html
Gbhil's roms have always been so stable and fast for me. I was under the impression he was done with rom's. Apparently he at least has been optimizing the leak though. Check out the link, all of the mod's that I used for fresh seemed to work (vanilla lock, xda keyboard, etc...) Very stable Rom, nothing out of the ordinary. Slightly faster alternative to Fresh 2.0d/Damaged IMO, although I could be biased. Only one way to find out though.
Its obvious it hasnt been posted since a lot of the xda folks dont visit Android Central. Ive been running his optimized rom since he released it on the 10th of April.

Do you have any keyboard lag with his ROM?
a little bit. Seems to be better than a lot of ROMs though. I'll throw a party the day that goes away for good.
well dude throw that party flash zenexp and b amazed no kb lag what so ever
A lot of the ROM's without Sense don't have keyboard lag...
well I meant more that when the lag goes away with the HTC keyboard/and sense. Is there really any real advantage to the HTC over the stock android keyboard? That zenulator rom looks pretty nice though. Too bad I can't download anything at work, hate it.
i didnt even know there was another forum that hacked phones, i ASSUMED this was the only one lol, well only one that i actually cared about, what happend to gbhil, i thought he was a part of xda, he moved to that forum android central?

that is the truth Zen's port is awesome........ but lemme see what this one is about
alot of dev's post on both of these sites. Gbhil quit putting out ROM's after someone took his rom, tossed some paid apps in it, rereleased it, or something to that effect anyways. I guess one of the app developers came at him with the blame. Pretty unfortunate because his ROM's were/still are awesome.
I was the one who mentioned this Rom in the keyboard lag thread. But I heard about it when vince mentioned running it. The only issue I have had is superuser whitelist. It simply won't download and install. To be honest, I've never had to download it before, so it may be a problem with the download, not the Rom. Imma pull the apk from another Rom this after and try pushing it through adb.

Please reply and tell us (me) if that works. I'm having the same issue.
Did yall know that dc 2.07.2 and alot of the roms come with the gbhil's memory killer. Its also easy to change the settings to be more aggressive and or less. Also you can download AutoKiller from the market and set the memory setting to anything you want.
Nothing against gbhil but his rom is literally the most basic sprint rom you can get, it will not have an increase in speed compared to dc 2.07.2 or fresh 2.0d.
Both of those roms have all the sprint stuff so it appears to be stock but its optimized to run smoother. They also include superusers and everything else needed.
Pushing superuser works perfectly.
what do you mean i posted up the rom???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671011&page=6
its cool. not starting a arguement but sad that he isn't doing any more roms....
I am using this as a daily rom and it is running smooth for me.
Im personally using beezys option 4. Next week we should know if all these rumors are true about the official update and hopefully a new era of ROMs should begin.
I really miss Gumbo 1.5c though................
