Hi everybody,
I'm use to have Wimo 6.1 on my Kaiser 'cause I doesn't like Wimo 6.5 today list page. But I see that there more soft developed for wimo 6.5 than for 6.1... I think it's attractive to use the most recent platform / version of wimo... And I think I will have to upgrade in few days my version of wimo to 6.5.
But I have two questions before :
first, does wimo 6.5 realy better than 6.1 ? and what are differences ???
second, could I get a wimo 6.5 ultra light : without office, manilla and/or this shame and damned today list (only star on left top ???
I'm sure that all your your ?'s can be answered via trial and error flash ROMs find what "you" want on "your" device, as for light naked etc will say @ the start of thread.
All you will get from users is speculation as choosing a ROM is a personal preference.
Good luck

I'am clearing my question : is the kaiser faster (benshmark) under wimo 6.5 or not ?
is there more ram under 6.5 than 6.1 ?
could we run java programs natively under wimo 6.5 ?
hmmm...
well...your question is kinda...you being lazy... try reading some wm 6.5 treads...
what do you mean more ram? you won't have more physical ram... you'll still have the same hardware...the only diference will be the software that your hardware will use. read some..

That last one's got me interested, I've been running 6.5 roms for a while but all the chef's still include the esmertec jbed
Please can you explain what you mean as I'm reading it to mean Ms has included native java support in 6.5, quite funny if they have as they don't with windows do they!
PLEASE read rules here about starting new threads as you shouldn't have started a thread for this.

"sorry but if we don't use comedy sometimes, then we cry"
Hey nice close button mock btw LOL
I think WM6.5 is more responsive than WM6.1. Been running stock 6.1 for couple days now as cooked 6.5 is making my poor device keeps crashing! And 6.1 sucks! Anyhow, hope there is still life left it in it...

My friend read the wiki,if not they are going to eat you..The best place to start is WIKI.
imagine a forum where new users are strictly required to read the stickies, at least to be aware if the answer might be there, and then they need to sign-off in each of the important pages with captcha, before they're able to post something retarded like this

Black915, just wanted to tell you that you are one of the lucky few people who got those kind of answers on those kind of questions
and, yes - read GWENI - it all becomes clear in less than a day of reading.
At least read, then its ok to ask questions to confirm what you have read or if you are confused about anything. However, make sure you search before you ask as well so nobody stomps on you.

Why ask when the answer is posted all throughout this very forum? You will have your answer far faster if you use the search, wiki, or even the stickies. Every forum has at least one or more of these features.
I will be nice and save you the search this time.
1. You must flash to a 6.1 ROM as there is no "upgrade" or patch available. There are many posted in this forum that you can choose from. And please do not ask which is best as everyone has their own opinion. I have tried many before sticking to my current one.
2. An update to Office and threaded SMS was added to 6.1. If you do not use Office or don't care for threaded SMS, then 6.0 will be fine for you.
Just noticed that my pet peeve #3 applies to this thread
It's not much but better than nothing

I just wish we 6.1 owners can get this update but that's not going to happen.
well greats...for РРС ed. screens will be?
Dated Sep 26, why wait this long to put the screenshots up ? I wonder.....
We may not get "official" upgrades but the kind folks around here will probably find some use for it.
Looks pretty cool!
I do believe that the odds for a free upgrade to 6.5 is possible. Just like 6.0 was upgraded to 6.1, so should 6.1 be upgraded to 6.5.
The only thing that would stop it would be if the device is too slow to handle the new version. But you shouldn't hope for a free upgrade to WM 7
Not to go off-topic but it is dispointing that we might need another upgrade just to get the new mobile IE 6.0.
Most people are of the opinion that these screen shots are fakes - due to the OSX icons being used.
Also, the 6.5 will probably be required for the new IE because of the HTML rendering engine also being used for Pocket Outlook, XML reading, etc.
I *believe* 6.5 should run fine on the current generation of HTC handsets... but WM7 is designed for the "next generation" of handsets - google nVidia's Tegra chipset to learn about this.

Not only that, but the battery and signal strength indicators are transposed on the 2 shots, and it looks nothing like the preview screens of WM7 we've seen. Also, MS like screen layouts to have a logical progression, and that honeycomb layout is rather... chaotic.
It's a photoshop, and not the best on either.
Fake
Fakes for me too
And it's even more simple than that : since when Microsoft put the phone function of these devices in the first place ? Putting Microsoft Media Player in the center of the screen is more correct lol
But there is a lot of other reasons and the first one is : what a new version of Windows Mobile and the first roms are not on XDA ? Impossible, XDA is the best !
I'm making a WAD2 theme based off the second screenshot... it should be done this weekend. (or at least a beta version).
i think you have noticed that some smartphone's users have cooked some wm 6.5 rom; like tornado.

bro, does 6.5 released? i guess its official release is on may 11th 2009...well i am not dat much clear...may be beta version n all will be there....
Because these ROMs are ports of WM 6.5 Professional and are, in my eyes, useless.
yeah man. as you said it will be realesed on 11 may, and these roms are beta realese.
you are cooking roms, so you're the boss
if you ask me, i'd say... it could be fun. and may be it works good.
thanks anyways,
ps: i can't find any screen shot of winmo 6.5 standard. if anyone could post some links i will be thankfull
What is the added value of 6.5 for non-touch devices at all?
Afaik 6.5 has concentrated on improving the GUI experience on touch-screen devices, so pretty useless for non-touchscreen, or? And a new PIE version on the good old 200Mhz OMAP for the Vox - I don't need this
today i found this link. check it out.
http://www.gadgetbb.com/2009/04/01/microsoft-drops-windows-mobile-standard-edition/
Microsoft’s Steve Balmer said that a non-touch version of Windows Mobile doesn’t make any sense
i don't know what the f is wrong with microsoft!
Look at the date of publishing of that article .
i can do an wm6.5 for you
br
Well I think it would be more useful if we had a 6.5 Standard ROM floating around. Again, I don't believe Professional does make much sense without a touchscreen!

So I was just browsing around and noticed that the 28002 Build has been spotted. After taking a look around it just looks like maybe a few UI changes and possible improved performance. Has anyone got the Build for us to port over or should we just skip this Build all together? If you have it, post here and we shall test it.
Windows Mobile 6.5.3
In November 2009, two 6.5.3 builds leaked (28002 and 28004). They have been unofficially ported to several Windows Mobile phones. Windows Mobile 6.5.3 will bring a more finger-friendly user interface, support for gestures, and an improved address book. Additionally, the start menu is moved to the lower left corner, as in desktop versions of Windows
EDIT: Found all the porting tools here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544445 I would do it but I am still learning how do do everything so I am just helping by finding the information for the experts lol.
EDIT2: Looks like Ivan will be including this build in the next version of SuperJustKitchen as stated here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4996075&postcount=17.

I've had 28002 and 28004 ported sitting on my hard drive since they were released.
I just haven't had a chance to release SuperJustKitchen v0.7, yet.
Who has time, lol. I look on xda like twice a day, lol. I did put 28002 on my Touch pro, and it's just faster I guess lol. I still have alot going but when winter break comes ALL BETS ARE OFF LOL
Thanks to all of the cook's for their on going support of the Wing! Keep up the good work, look forward to testing 6.5.3
I don't like these new versions. They're gimmicky and bloated. WinMo 6.1 fo' lyphe!
Are there releases of thos rom that are able to be flashed by SD card by any chance?

They're not gimmicky, but they ARE moving away from the need of a stylus to a more finger friendly approach. The problem is that the Herald is an aging beast, so it's not able to keep up with the pace. They're trying to keep up with Apple and Android.

28002 isn't a ROM, it's a dump of the files requires to make a ROM that's 28002 (when mixed with the required files of the device you're cooking for.
Hopefully by the end of this week or next week, you'll have a kitchen that will allow you to create ROMs with 28004 (or whatever comes out between now and then since I port all new builds the same day they are leaked out to the world.)
EDIT: Ok, now I'm porting 28005.
Hey, Ace. Would you be willing to use your glass theme with 6.5.3? I really like what you did with it originally. I think it would look amazing if you made it with the Win7 Start button too.
Hey Guys,
I have been thinking. Could someone create a ROM like:

Uni can only run touchflo2D as 3D is hardware driven and uni can't support it... there is a thread going on with this tropic.(i'm in good mood so here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591386 ) and running Touchflow 2d would be more ram hungry than titanium....
Good idea, but the 64mb ram is not enugh for this
this is really beautiful... i had something like this on my Hermes... how is it possible that this won't work on UNI?
