So I just rooted my phone today at my friend's house, I used his wifi just fine, no hickups. I don't have a service plan at the moment, so the only way I'm even using it is over wifi. Well when I got home, I tried connecting to my wpa2 secured network and I can't connect. What happens is the phone recognizes my network, I put in the passkey and it just sits and does nothing. I connected to it before I rooted my phone (and then this started happening once I changed some settings, but I figured it'd be a moot issue once I rooted.)
So far I can't get it to connect.
Any ideas as to what's going on?

So I have been using my Captivate now for 3 months and aside from the known GPS issues, everything else has been great.
I have configured the Captivate to recognize my home wife network and it has been connecting automatically for the past 3 months with no problems.
A few days ago it stopped finding and connecting to my network. The Captivate finds other networks in the area, but says mine is "not in range". On the flip side, I have no problem connecting to my wifi network with my iPhone, laptop, and other wireless peripherals, so it sounds like the problem lies with the phone.
I tried deleting the configuration on the phone and adding it again, but no go.
Any ideas????
I am not able to browse on wifi network. Wifi toggles to on position, can scan the network but not connecting
My phone is running on stock Indian ROM 1.52.720.3 with S-off and rest everything stock, "NOT ROOTED"
Till 2 days back it was working fine and i could use the wifi network
Now most of the time it does not connect to the wifi network, it keeps scanning, detects the network, attempts to connect and finally says disconnected.
Sometimes it connects, i can see the assigned IP but not able to browse the internet or use the android market.
However internet pass through option is working when plugged in USB
I am able to connect my laptop to the wifi network and use the internet, so my network is fine.
I spoke to the customer care, they told me to do a factory reset from Bootloader option...I did the factory reset but still wifi not working
Any help please

I haven't had that issue with the stock ROM, and but it has come up with some modified ROMs. The solution has been to scan for the network, and attempt to connect and then disconnect & forget the network. Rescan and connect worked perfectly after that.
Worth a shot.
Alright so I've run into an issue here. I just got a net ISP last night and so hooked up my own modem and router (I had TDS before). I set everything to run the way I used to at my previous home, WPA2 Personal, Wireless N Only, 20 or 40hz auto setting, auto DHCP, etc. Everything is connecting and working just fine except for my wife's LG G4.
The phone is only a couple of months old. My 1.5 year old LG G3 (running Cyanogenmod) connects to the wireless n only network with no issues. However her phone simply refuses to connect. It sees the network fine but just won't ever attempt to connect to it. It just 'saves' the network info.
I've tried rebooting the router, rebooting the phone, powering off the phone, pulling the battery, disabling network security, changing the channel from 20/40 to just 20hz, etc. Nothing I do will make this G4 connect to the wireless n only network. The only way I can get it to connect is to drop the wireless signal down from n-only to "mixed". Once it's set to "mixed", the G4 connects instantly.
Anyone else run into this issue? I know that the phone itself is supposedly rated for 802.11ac, along with 802.11n, g, etc. but it seems like there must be some sort of software config preventing it from connecting to n only since my G3 has no issues, but is running a custom rom.
Thoughts or ideas? I'd really like to get n only working as I'll be upgrading my modem pretty soon and will be pulling 110mbps down from my ISP.
Thanks!
My work network went down earlier so i thought i would just tether the laptop to my S8 over wifi and use my 4g connection instead. But the laptop constantly connects then disconnects about 2 seconds later, over and over again (I can see it in the hotspot settings on the phone thta it appears as a connected device then vanishes immediately after). Tried turning hotspot on and off again on the phone, made no difference. Normal wifi use on my phone seems ok, its just this wifi hotspot that doesnt seem to work properly. Using exynos version on AQDD.
I'm having the same problem tethering my s8 to my android head unit. I connected to my tv box just fine, but I see the same cycle as you when I try to connect to my HU. I previously connected my S6 to the HU with no issues. The only thing I can think of is I used Smart Switch to copy everything from my S6 to S8 and it copied tethering settings as well and maybe that messed something up. I've changed the network name and password but that didn't help.
I finally got mine to work. I changed the security setting to open, and it connected. I then turned on only allowed devices and added the mac address of the head unit.
Just bought this Moto G Fast phone today, brand new, and I'm having issues connecting to Wi-Fi. Whenever I attempt to connect to a Xfinity Wi-Fi access point, it attempts to connect and tells me sign-in is required. I get to the screen where I enter in the username and password, but it then disconnects me from the access point, and takes me off the sign-in page before I can enter in the information. This happens in an endless loop. Never staying connected for more than a few seconds before it disconnects and reconnects.
I tried doing a factory reset multiple times.
I tried forgetting all wi-fi networks.
I have tried resetting the wi-fi, Bluetooth, and wireless network settings.
I tried doing a hardware Wi-Fi test, and get the green check mark.
I tried turning off my phone, waiting for thirty seconds, and turning back on my phone with the issue still existing.
I have tried resetting my phone multiple times.
I have removed my SIM card and reinserted it.
I can use my computer to connect to this Xfinity Wi-Fi access point, and then use my computer as Wi-Fi hotspot. My phone is then able to connect to my computer to access Wi-Fi to this Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot indirectly. It however cannot connect directly to it by itself.
I'm able to connect to other Wi-Fi access points without issues, it's just Xfinity Wi-Fi access point near my home that I can no longer connect to. My computer however is able to connect to this same exact Xfinity Wi-Fi access point without issue. The connection from my computer to the Xfinity Wi-Fi access point is stable, I'm able to watch YouTube videos etc on it. However for whatever reason, sitting at the SAME exact desk my computer is at with my phone, my phone isn't able to maintain a constant connection for more than a few seconds.
I don't have physical access to the router.
Thanks for any help! I have the feeling I should just return the phone, but I don't want to pay the $49 restock fee, and this seems to be a software issue, and not a hardware issue, so I'm not sure anything is wrong with the device from a hardware perspective.
