You MUST use Activesync (USB connection) to flash the warranty SPL. You CANNOT do so via SD card.
100% sure?
Are you sure about that because i was told other wise... i thought i could revert the spl by changing the name to "RAPHIMG.nbh"? Also will ATT take it back because i got a new fuze and now have to return the old one
You can flash roms, radios & spl by SD card. But you're trying to overwrite hard SPL so you need to use the USB and follow the instructions given in the appropraite thread.
I did manage to change from hard spl to the warrenty one via SD card - it then bricked my phone as i had a rom/spl mis-match, and as i had no hard spl anymore i couldnt re-flash either (i couldnt connect via usb due a hardware fault). As i know 100% that this bricked my phone (all my fault - i read the disclaimers and played about anyway!) i would advise you to restore the SPL via USB, or take your chances with leaving hard-spl on.
Will ATT take hard spl?
Thx for your help but i cant use the usb because my fuze is messed up and doesnt sync or get detected unlike the new one i recieved.... You guys think ATT will take it with hard spl and not screw me over?
Who knows!
You have to take a gamble, send it back with hard-spl, or risk screwing the boot up completely.
Do you want to chance the tech seeing the spl is wrong (small note on 1 screen) or possibly seeing a bad boot (phone loads straight into bootloader & shows an error).
Its entirely upto you.
Need luck
Lol thx, i returned it with hard spl , wish me luck

Heya,
I have an ATT Tilt (8925), and was using one of Dutty's custom roms. The phone was working great for quite a while, until yesterday. Now it just boots and goes to the ATT splash screen (or HTC splash screen if I flash an HTC rom).
I have tried flashing the original ATT shipped rom, HTC shipped rom, and Dutty's again to no avail. When it looked lost, I called ATT and they offered to exchange it under warranty.
The kicker is, I don't know if they will accept it with Hard SPL 3.56 still on it. I have reloaded the original shipped ROM, but have no way to restore the SPL from what I've read, because I cannot get fully booted. Is there a way to restore the shipped SPL without having to copy the SPL to the phone? (maybe through MTTY or frankenkaiser?)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I don't think they care what spl is on the phone. I have returned a few of them...just make sure the stock rom is on it.
i did just see something about spl being on the phone when trying to use warinty... its on the wiki.... saw it like 2 min ago... can u run any rom on the phone? origional or home brew?
I hope they don't care
Yeah, I'm really hoping that they don't mind it. I was able to flash the shipped rom, but I still can't seem to find anything saying how to restore the SPL without being able to transfer files to the phone.
Thx Cmonex
I did a lot of searching, but not enough I guess.
Thx Cmonex for your post and utilites "in Kaiser intermittently stuck in SPL? - Possible solution and prevention!"
Using this, I was able to flash SPL to 1.93.0000, which I assume came with the phone as I bought it only a few months ago. If anyone thinks I should go back to 1.56.0000, please let me know, as I now know how.
Thanks again for your help.
Hello everybody,
i guess i fryed the g-sensor of my raphael.
noticed it the first time when i instaled a 6.5 rom a few weeks ago and saw that the album app in this rom did not rotate my pictures.
was not to worried about it but recently i tryed a few other progs but non of them respond at all to the movement.
when i open the calibration prog the "bubbles" just stay in the middle, and when i try to calibrate it it does nothing beside telling me to hold the phone still and a after a while "calibration aborted".
i tryed a hard reset, flashing another 6.5 rom, a 6.1 rom, and now even the latest original htc rom, none of this did any help.
did someone had allready the same problem and even knows a fix for that?
or is the only possible fix to return it for repairs?
if i do that and just flashed the official htc rom will also be my slp and radio the correct one or do i need to take some action to get that to warranty compliance?
thanks allread in advance
that is really odd. did u hard reset after flashing the stock rom?
For warranty repairs it is suggested that you flash a stock rom and return the original SPL, not hardspl.
Now i've returned two devices with hardSPL, one the usb port was broken and couldn't flash it back, but i did revert it to the shipped rom. The other, the screen just went completely white on the device and couldn't see anything so just turned it in how it was and never had any issues with warranty attempting to charge me claiming that the cooked rom and hard spl have voided my warranty.
BUT better be safe then sorry and not take any chances right?
yes also think that is really odd, i suspect that the phone fell down one time too much and somehow that sensor is "stuck" or someting like that.
sorry for the stupid question but how can i actually see if i have a stock spl or hardspl? and what spl should be on an original german touch pro?
to check your spl go into bootloader. Do this by holding down the volume key and pressing the stylus in the reset hole. Hold both of them until you get a multicored screen (Red, green, blue, white).
Your spl will be the second line. "SPL-xxxxx" if its just numbers, pretty sure its not hard spl, if it is, you'll get something like "SPL-1.90.OliNex" which is OliNex's 1.90 hard spl.
refer to the wiki for more info, or the sticky threads under the Rom Development section.
when you go into the g-sensor calibration setting, what happens? does the spirit level graphic move??

Wait.... if you don't know if you have stock spl or hard spl, does that mean you've never flashed hard spl? Because you need to flash hard spl in order to flash cooked roms
yes sure i have hardspl but the last rom i flashed is the original from htc. so now i dont know if i still have hardspl or if the original spl from htc came with the rom.
the tree color boot screen says SPL-1.90.OliNex.
i guess that is still the hardspl but i am not 100% sure.
so if its not original, where can i get the original one that came with the german touch pro?
The point of the hardSPL is that so it doesn't change when flashing between roms reducing the chance of bricking your device among other things.
go to this wiki page and it has instructions on how to return your device to stock spl. after you do that, flash a shipped rom for your device and you'll be grand

was giving that wiki page a try but i cant follow it.
to where do i have to copy the original spl file?
dont know where the hardspl file extract the stuff before flashing.
any help`?
Downgrade from Haykuro New SPL to Stock without Bricking.
I have:
Haykuros New Spl
Cm Recovery 1.2
CM 3.4 Rom
latest Radio .26I
Has Anybody Downgraded to Let say rc33 Stock or RC 29 ?
wht steps did you follow?
The Guide listed here seems to have been made before the Bricking Issue arised.
Help will be greatly appreciated.
flashed old RC29 image
I followed the original multi-touch root guide used from months ago. It didn't brick my phone.
I guess I used this:

I went back to hard spl did a wipe and had no problems, I didnt want to risk forgettting and applying a radio upgrade and bricking my phone

This is what has worked for me. The latest Haykuro SPL (camera+power) will auto recognize if RC29 is on the sd card and offer to flash it (i.e. DREAIMG.nbh). This will revert absolutely everything, radio, boot, spl, system and recovery. I have used it many times when trying custom roms that end up not working for one reason or another. As a result it never leaves my sd card. You will have to root the phone again.
For UK use: RC7

I am in deep trouble here and could really use some help please. My ATT Fuze is not being detected by any PC and i have tried everything from different wires to changing everything on the fuze it self. Now my only option is to exchange it but i don't have the original OS because i am using NRGs Rom and hard SPL it about 4 months ago. Now to my question, is there anyway i can revert it to stock ROM and SPL with micro sdhc card? I need some steps please because i cant find a way to do it. Would i have to change the OS and the SPL to return if there is anyway please let me know.

First, what OS are you running on your PC.
Second, have you disabled/Enabled "enable faster data" in Settings/Connections/USB to PC?
Third, Have you deleted the partnership and tried to reestablish it?
Doesn't seem to be a warranty issue.
Fuze Reply
First of all thanks for your reply.
I have tried it on 4 different computer but unfortunately same result on vista and XP, on my phone i am using NRG july version rom.
I have disabled and enabled faster data in but doesn't seem to matter.
I tried everything, i reinstalled windows mobile device but doesn't seem to matter. When i ended the partnership it wasnt being detected after it or before it.
Cant i exchange it because its a faulty phone? Also can u please tell me if i can revert it to att stock rom and spl with a micro sdcard because i am going to buy a card reader. I really don't want to toss this phone and waste all that money please help!

Yes, you can revert via SD card.
Do Radio and ROM first, then do stock SPL last.
Rename each RAPHIMG.NBH (one at a time) on a FAT32 formated card 2gb or smaller.
Go into bootloader mode and it should flash from there.
I would test your USB connection after you flash back to stock ROM before you flash the stock SPL to see if it may have fixed your issue.
Huh
Thanks a lot man!
Now the hard part , why do u say a card 2gb or smaller?
So i can revort the SPL with a micro sdhc card also? can u tell me where i can find this stuff, i am really sorry for the trouble and would really appreciate it if you can tell me step by step because i am a noob
Hopefully ATT exchange it for the usb issues , gotta check with them after this. Thanks

I've heard that anything over 2 gb will cause an issue but I have done it from an 8gb card.
Start here for issues encountered.
Basically once you find your ROM Radio and SPL, extract the files so you can see the .NBH files for each.
1. Take the ROM file and rename it "RAPHIMG.nbh " without quotes.
2. Place it in the root of your storage card and enter bootloader mode (Volume Down + Reset), the phone will read the image file and begin to load it.
Do this for each file but wait until the first file has loaded.
Radio.nbh will be renamed to RAPHIMG.nbh
SPL.nbh will be renamed RAPHIMG.nbh
As one is done loading, remove it from starage card and put the next one on and repeat step 2.
Another thread regarding SPL.
I hope this helps you and sorry I don't have the time to walk you through it.
Just read first then you'll know what to expect.

my best guess is just in case the bootloader doesn't have drivers for SDHC cards... my x51v has drivers for SDHC in WM, but flashing requires SD cards because the bootloader doesn't read SDHC
revert SPL or no?
Hey thanks bruce!
One more question, should i revert the SPL even tho i changed the radio and os. When i go to ROM version it says 1.95 but is that the SPL? Also you think ATT will take the phone back with the phone not syncing reason or do i have to make up some other stuff up? O btw the 8gb kingston card worked fine for reverting it and it still doesnt detect the phone

To be safe I would revert the SPL as well.
The 1.95 is the ROM build base.
You want to revert back to stock SPL 1.90.
I can't second guess what AT&T will cover or not but you may want to "further your cause"....
Best of luck!!!
in my experience (my UK t-mob vario is back at repair right now) - DONT revert the SPL if you cant do it from the USB.
Obvisously you have a different setup to me, but when i tried to revert my phone to stock for exactly the same fault (no usb sync, regardless of pc or cable / phone rom, state etc etc) i managed to get the phone to refuse to boot due to a spl / rom difference. As i couldnt load from usb - i couldnt flash anything new, and as i had managed to overwrite hard spl - i couldnt flash what i wanted from the SD card! (if i could get the usb to work, i could fix it all - but as that was the problem i had to send it off fubar)
For some reason (god knows why!) it appears that t-mob are repairing my phone under warrenty despite the spl error but i wouldnt advise getting yourself in the same situation, as i was 100% expecting it to come straight back to me!
My personal advice is send it off with the correct rom, radio & splash screens (and remove security unlock if required) so the phone looks stock - the only difference will be the spl version. They probably wont notice!
1.90 or 1.95
Thx for the info guys, my new phone is coming and it took me about 2 to finally on its way. About the SPL, mine says 1.90 and that was when i first did the hard spl to change roms. What is the stock SPL 1.90 or 1.95? at loading it hows me 1.90 olinex i think...also i can change it if needed with my 8gb sdhc card or no?
I had a problem with my PC not detecting my fuze a few weeks ago. I found out it was my new firewall blocking the connection. I disabled the firewall and it worked like normal.
If it were me i would try to connect again after you flash the stock rom. If there was something wrong with the usb it still wont work. If it connects to activesync the maybe it was your ROM, or something else.
Just a suggestion
Hello everyone.
Yesterday I saw that there was a new update of my favourite rom EnergyRom. So today I downloaded it, installed it, everything went well. Until I restarted my Raphael ( raph300 btw). It kept stucking on the bootscreen.. even after I installed the rom again it still stucked at bootscreen. So I began trying to fix it with installing my hardSPL again, that didn't work either, still no further than my bootscreen.. after a while I decided to downgrade my spl to my stock-spl. that went well but still stuck on bootscreen. So I tried to install my stock-rom from my provider: (t-mobile netherlands). But then the Rom updater stuck at 0% and I received the well-known [262] error. Suddenly I saw that I stupidly accidentally installed the cdma version of EnergyRom instead of the one I needed: GSM. That explained why it wouldn't boot in the first place. Now I tried to install the olinex hardspl, but the updater stopped everytime with the 262 error. I connected my device to another computer with windows XP, but there I saw that the computer recognized it as a CDMA device.
I know it is a stupid mistake, but is there anybody who knows what I could try? I also tried to hard-reset it, but that wouldn't help either. Any help would SO be appreciated

As I remember 2 years ago,HardSPL is somehow depended on RadioROM. Maybe the ROM influenced the Radio with HardSPL,so try to reflash HardSPL again and Radio. Or it works absolutely not?

No, I can't update any ROM. So now i'm stuck with my stock SPL, therefore I wanted to Hard SPL my device, but that didn't work and since then I haven't been able to update any ROM.. would flashing on a different PC help maybe? now I am on a Win7 Pc but maybe it will work in WinXP..
It is also not a bad idea to try different PC with XP to flash. I remember apx.1 month ago I tried to update HTC Trinity with WM6.5 ROM and it keeps failed with some errormessage(nowadays I can't remember which, but the syndroms was similar). Then I considered it as "bricked",until I tried another PC and everything wents correctly and the phone is in its productivity again. Yes,tfirst PC was company notebook with lot of safety kind of software(firewall,this,that,etc...) and the second one was my private laptop at home, just equipeed with regular antivirus software, all updates disabled(instead of AV).
Btw,what about trying to flash official ROM,while you are with stockSPL? Maybe it helps you to startup again the device and then HardSPL again afterwards...

yeah, that's what I thought too. I tried that also, also tried other custom roms btw before going to the stock rom. But with the stock rom it also stuck at 0% on the update
so, today I tried to flash my rom with two different computers: one with win7 and one with winXP. didn't work either.. I read the MTTY thread and after I installed the custom driver I was able to connect trough MTTY. But what commands should I use to clear the ROM and is there any way that I can update my rom via MTTY?
search MTTY on the forums the first link has all you need to clear the rom and flash via MTTY
I think you may be screwed. You should've asked for help before you started messing with the spl. I don't understand why you thought reverting to the stock spl would be a good approach; it may well be the end of your device. What you should have done is just flashed a stock rom-that would probably have restored your device. Re-flashing hard spl is kind of pointless. The only thing that can over-write hard spl is the special 'stock spl' that olinex put together. It's not entirely stock, and I am not sure that it can be over-written by hard spl. The sole purpose of the 'return to stock spl' is so that you can flash a stock rom, then restore the spl so that you can return your device for warranty/service without being dinged for having unofficial firmware on the device. When you do this, you aren't anticipating getting the device back, so I'm not sure that hard spl can over-write it. I know there have been discussions on whether or not it can be over-written, but I'm not sure that there was ever a clear answer. Anyway, with the 'stock spl' on the device, you can't flash any cooked roms to the device. If you are very lucky, you may be able to flash a stock rom. So, my advice is to try a few stock roms.
I'm pretty sure you'll need hard spl to run mtty/task 29, so I wouldn't waste your time on that. I really doubt it works, and I'm not sure what it's going to buy you, anyway. You really need to be able to flash a rom to the device, and you can't flash a cooked rom with that spl. Maybe you can flash a stock rom, but maybe not. I'm not sure which carrier it will let you upgrade to, either.

yes I did, but the problem is that I can't access my Internal Storage, so I can't put any ROM's on that. Tonight I tried to flash a ROM via my SD card, but when I put my device in bootloader-mode it kept saying that it was 'loading...'
If the bootloader just says 'loading', then you probably need to either reformat the card to FAT32 or rename the image to RAPHIMG.nbh. Make sure you get the extension correct (not RAPHIMG.nbh.nbh).
But you're not going to flash anything with the stock spl, anyway. You need hard spl. I'm not sure you can even flash a stock rom off of the sd card-it probably needs to do it over usb.
I updated lot of smartphones already, but it was already few years ago. However I think, that SP's are flashed with MTTY. For that I needed ROM image in nbh file and with some commands you tell the PC,that it should flash it. Don't forget to disable USB connection in Activesync on XP in case MTTY will connect.

I already managed to connect my device with MTTY, the only thing I need to know is which commands I can use to flash the ROM through MTTY. It just sucks that I am not able to go to my Internal Storage, otherwise it would be much simpler I think.

Oke, thanx for your input. I tried to reset my ROM memory with mtty/task 29, but that didn't work, just like you predicted. So my next question is: 'Is there any app that can perform the task 29 without MTTY?'. I googled it, but I could only find the task 29 app for the HTC HD2.. And further, does anybody have a recovery ROM for my RAPH300? I tried the stock ROM on the XDA thread of HTC Raphael, but still got the 262 error
There's really no point in doing Task 29. The bad rom isn't what's killing you now, it's the SPL. It's going to block task 29, no matter what you try (that's one of it's jobs). You should just try to get hard spl back on the device, or try flashing every stock rom you can find. I tend to doubt that either will work, though. The only other option would be to look up the jump spl developed by PoF. I don't remember the name (search for threads started by him), but it was a universal soft spl that would temporarily CID unlock devices so you could flash custom roms. I've never used it before, and I don't know how it loads. You may not be able to load it onto your device with its current state, and it may not even be compatible with a Raphael (it's 3 or so years old), but it's probably worth at least checking out.
Edit: here's the jump spl link. I think you may have to activate it off the device.
