Backlight dimm and lock screen - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi
i'm running wm6.5 on my raphael and i've got a problem:
when the screen is automatically locked, the screen dimm to save power. fine
but even if i unlock it, the screen is keeped dimmed.
i have to press the power button to get the screen bright again
i've found in Advanced config in the screen section an option: "Backlight lock level " but when i try to change it, after a soft reset, the value is not saved...
is there a fix?

Check to see if your backlight is set to auto adjust in your Power settings.

there is a bug in WM6.5... autolock and/or the auto dim is causing this problem(for me too)... i disabled autolock, and the problem's gone...
use S2U2 or something else

yep but i've got some problem with the last version of s2u2... i wasn't able to answer

i asked the same question few days ago in teh NRG rom thread - basically it was suggested to me to use a different program other than adv config to setup the autolock - searchn the forum for an app called 'Smartlock' - ive installed version 1.6 and it seems to work
only thing is it ignores slideshows (i.e. will dim and lock while viewing slideshow), slightly annoying but no biggy

Display goes out in seconds?!

Hi there, my SP5m display always goes out (e.g. turns black) in less than 5 seconds even though I didn't specify such setting anywhere on my smartphone?! It doesn't keylock it, it just goes black and doesn't prevent key presses, whenever I hit a button it comes back to normal and it's a real pain for the moment!
FYI, I'm using WM6 perfect edition (thanks btw!) and here are my settings for "power management" options:
Backlight timeout on battery: 15 seconds
Display timeout: 1 minute
Light sensor: enable
By the way, what's the difference between backlight timeout and display timeout?
Also, I enabled the "Low light" application and modified some "Keylock Config" options...
I also played with "Multi Flash Light" if it helps you guys investigating... Btw, is there any other purpose for this application other than being a "flashlight"? Why was that application loaded in the ROM? Are you guys really using your smartphone as a flashlight? I'd like to know...
Thank you all for your time.
highmighty
Maybe this will help?
It sure helped me... but I modified another key instead of "LockLevel" cause this one looked OK.
Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Power\Backlight the key "BatteryTimeout" was set to 0 instead of 15 seconds... and I don't know why?! I modified it and so far so good. It finally works like a charm
P.S. And what about Multi Flash Lite?
Thanks to all

Keep fuze from turning off the screen during call?

Ok new annoying problem. Has anyone noticed that when you call your voice mail by the time you are ready to delete the message the damn screen is off and you have to wake it back up with the power button?
Is there a way to keep the screen from turning off? or for it to wake up when you take it away from your ear?
Im guessing the light sensor is turning it off when its next to your ear so your face dosent "push buttons". Thats merely just a guess I really have no clue. I guess it could just be a timer thing.
its an option if you get advanced config in the diamond section you can adjust it

I may be a moron (that's usually the case) but I installed the Advanced Config from touchxperience.com and I do not see this option. Is this the same cab that's in the diamond section?

This is the same problem with Tilt
This was the same problem with the tilt and I'm amazed it is still in the fuze as HTC released a hotfix for the tilt. They must have known it was an issue all along.
Maybe the tilt hotfix would work on the fuze?

I didn't want to try it in case it had a undesired effect and i'm not setup right now to fix any issues...
I installed it the same advance config it shows the option on the list on the website. but its def not on the list on the phone. :-(
watching...
any new ideas?
search for diamond tweak or advance config.....the option is there. just disable sleep and fast sleep.
Can anyone verify that the latest Diamond Tweak will work on the AT&T Fuze default ROM. I know I can always hard reset, but I have my phone setup and working just about the way I want.

i installed romeos i used advanced config and it worked

In Advanced Config > Phone > Phone Sleep During Call
And Advanced Config > Phone > Fast Sleep During Call
I have those both set to "Not Allowed"
Still, the screen switches off during calls...

i used the Diamond Tweak and disabled both Fast Sleep, and Sleep.
Doesn't turn off during calls now.
I can confirm that Advanced Config on my stock Fuze does NOT have those options
Used Diamond Tweaks to do it
I emailed HTC support about this issue. Here is there response.
"We do apologize for your frustration, however there is no possible way to keep the screen lit up while on a call as it is like that for a purpose. the purpose is to avoid the pressing of the on screen buttons while on a call. If you would like to reactivate the screen while on a call you can simply press the power button and it will wake the screen backup."
It would be nice to have the phone behave exactly like an iphone during a call. Using the accelerometer to turn on and off the screen.
I already searched and found what I believe to be the diamond tweak you are all talking about...
But just to be sure, would someone mind linking to it, so I know I'm using the same thing that worked for you guys?
Thanks
I tried Diamond Tweak with my phone and it does not work for me.
Diamond Tweak works on my fuze.
This tip doesn't help the Fuze screen "stay on" but it can be used to at least turn the screen on easier while in call. Just hit the volume key (up or down) and the screen will pop back on. For a moment it shows the volume setting but then goes back to the home screen. I'm not using the TouchFlo shell so in my case it pops back to my home screen.
try a search in this forum for a file called No_Sleep_Raph
There is a catch you will loose mute phone on flip.
I would like to see this regedit as a program so you can turn it on or off rather then default on. Cause I keep hitting the screen buttons during a call

Getting rid of WM6 backlight dimming?

Hi,
Is it posible to disable backlight dimming in WM6?
I don't want to send the device go to standby, just turn off it's backlight, let me give you an example:
In WM5, where backlight dimming was not implemented yet, i was using this:
Sleep mode settings: both disabled,
Backlight: both enabled (battery and external),
Device lock enabled on today screen.
This way i could 'wake' the device just by tapping on the screen or on any button, and the next step being unlocking it. The battery consumption in this mode is almost the same as with using standby mode. And another big benefit was much more stability in the OS and other applications because the system was never going into real standby. And of corse wifi and other things could remain on while in this 'standby' mode. Also, imagine using S2U2 in this mode...
But.. this scenario is no more posbile in WM6, because backlight does not go off anymore, but instead it dimms, leading to a fast battery consumption.
Moreover, device lock function become useless.
Someone sugested ScreenOff (or blackme) /and ScreenOn. Leaving alone that this would be a 'manual' solution, you can't tap on screen after using screenoff because screen is completely off, not only the backlight, and tapping does nothing.

thnx alot for your help
Bump to keep this thread alive because I would really rather my phone working like that and have locking being actually useful. Because what's the point of locking your phone when it's gonna power off by itself anyway?
Hope people can come up with a solution soon. Maybe a registry edit to make the dim go to 0%.

thnx for support
I agree we need to get rid of dimming. Because that way S2U2 or any other lock program make no sense. I must first turn on the device then unlock. So locking is not needed because device is turned off.
I believe we should wake up microsoft to make a patch or an update or something about it.
If a general poll be posted i believe all the wm users would like - want this feature.
and maybe the admins as the xda community could declare our statement to microsoft.
What do you think?

thnx for the pool, the results seem favorable to us,
i was thinking, wm 6.5 will be out next year, maybe we are lucky and this will be fixed in it..?
I use S2U2 and I have it set to 'blank screen only' after 10 seconds. This means that by running s2u2.exe (which is mapped to a long press on a hardware button) it leaves the device locked with the screen off, but not suspended.

In the s2u2 settings, in the battery power section, 'Power Off in' is set to 10seconds, and 'but Blank Screen only' is set to ON.
I've assigned s2u2.exe to a hardware button using 'spb pocket plus', although if you want a free package which does that, you'll have to search around.

Key Lock With Power Button

When I had the Romeos 1.40.1 ROM I had setup my phone (Using advanced config and perhaps a registry tweak, I can't remember) to lock itself when I press the power button.
Now with the proven ROM 1.0.4 my phone doesn't lock at all. The power button just turns the screen off, and when I press it again it just shows my password lock, not the actual device keylock which I want. Also, sometimes after I unlock the password lock, the backlight is still dimmed until I lock and unlock the phone again.
Perhaps it's because the ROM has advanced config and Diamond Tweak.
My question is, how can I get it working so when I press the power button, the device is keylocked, and after a timer of say, 30 seconds, the device is auto keylocked. I know I did this without some special software such as S2U2 or PocketShield. I want it setup how I had it before without that.
Regards
Apply the tweak again?
Keylocking is really problematic with TP. I've tried Sensorlock, Pocketshield but software keylockers get slow sometimes, especially when I am recieving a call. This makes no sense because using a PocketPC as a phone is preferable option . So I'd also prefer original keylocker but it locks always during a call so I dont get instant access to calendar which is my main goal of using a smart phone btw...

Wm6.5 Auto Lock and Backlight

I have an htc Touch HD
used almost all of the wm6.5.x roms and on all of them the same problem.
with autolock function enabled using HD Tweak when the back light is deeming due to small time of touching the screen when tapping again the light want return to default (bright so i can use it).
i must turn off the screen (using the power button) to revert and start using the phone again.
Any one has a solution for this?!
ps: Backlight is on auto adjust mode
Don't use that autolock, it causes the problems that you just stated. Use csdevctrl instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386451
Its a little tricky to figure out, but the autolock on it works perfectly. I can't remember what you have to press to initiate the autolock, but it isn't called autolock, something like lock display after suspend
