I got this from that other thread, and it works great

Sent you a PM but may as well post here. I have a dev account and am always willing to post things developed here to the market.

Works on Twisted Umbrella's Shadow.
Any way to make this mute automatically when the phone is on silent or vibrate?

Did you run TTS after installing it? Cuz I believe you have to run the app in order for it to download the voice package to ur sd card.

Two questions:
1. Does this notify you while your phone is on vibrate silent?
2. Is there a setting to turn it on/off or you have to uninstall it?

Edit: done!

I have noticed a bug w/ this program's functionality when used with a bluetooth headset. The TTS is being routed to the headset connection, which does not exist until after the phone has been answered. (I caught a split second of the friendly robot's little voice in my headset).

Thanks man! I'm glad I posted that other thread and you came to my rescue with this one. Good job!
Well, besides saying thanks and posting to subscribe to this thread, do you know anything about capturing button events? ...no body said a word in my thread about the 2nd request:
<quote>
EDIT: And while I'm posting development requests, I would also like to see an app that lets you re-assign buttons (like vol+/- could page up and down unless there is sound playing, and the camera button which does nothing in Hero could be assigned to launch an app [HTC Camera] or even bring up a menu of apps to select from). They have lots of button programs for WinMo, but I've seen none for android.
</quote>

I had another idea for this app...
There is a thread here about making the phone ring faster. They have found setting priorities helps, but the settings are not persistent. Could your app possibly keep verifying/setting these priorities so the TTS ring starts as soon as possible?
...just a random thought.

I'm actually running the TTSNotifier with a lower priority because I think phone ring / vibrate / responsiveness matters more than getting the voice speak 0.3 seconds faster.
We can't force all applications to run with high priority because it would kill the use of priority
Edit: Hmm, ofcourse if you only use the TTSNotifier this might become a problem, i'll add a setting for this so every1 is happy
Edit2: Bah, when waiting for the TTS to start i'm reading out the settings. If I add this feature it might slow a tiny bit down. If there really is a problem with this I'll change it

Can you add the version # to the apk
So it will read "TTSNotifier v1.1"

Zillode
This is awesome. I've been looking for something like this that works for awhile. Thanks.
What is the point of the wifi enabled or disabled option? Does TTS depend on internet speed?

Q: Which rom can this run on?
A: I think this can be run in any rom, although I did not test all roms. Looks like hero use different Phone program, so you may not use it on hero build.
Q: Where are these settings?
A: In Settings -> Call Settings

Phone is the core program of android phone.
Not to sound like a complete idiot, but what does the "vibrate on outgoing call on hook." acutally mean.
When they answer the phone it vibrates or when it connects it vibrates?
And then what is off hook? (At least in terms of a cell phone).
Thanks.

No, phone app itself won't store any configiration, if you want to a choice for disable vibrate during talking, you must add some more setting in Setting.apk, that's too complex, I don't want to make such modification....
Hi cytown, appreciate your work.
Is it possible to make another version which vibrate only on and off hook?
I usually have a long call and the phone vibrate every 45sec kinda annoying.
Thank you very much.

Yes, I will do such version when I have time, maybe tomorrow or the day after. Keep watching.
Does this changed a themed dial pad or does it just change the function?
big nu: Just the function. It vibrates when someone picks up your call. It's in HTC's Dialer, but not the default one.
Do you have source code for this available? I can take care of adding some options to the Settings app to control it. Wouldn't mind merging this with my builds if you don't mind.

[APP] Optimus 3D touch LED notifications

Hi,
I've modified Martin Börjesson's app to work on our beloved Optimus 3D.
What does it do, you ask?
It makes the LED under touch buttons blink in interval you select on several events - unread Gmail, SMS or missed calls. Even more, it can listen to notifications generated by any other application.
The app:
can make the LEDs under touch buttons blink after there is a notification (new SMS, mail, instant message, etc.)
can keep the LEDs lit while the screen is on (if you like to keep them shining)
can decrease the timeout after keypress (if you don't like the LEDs shining for so long after keypress)
Requirements:
superuser rights (root)
something to install apk
Installation
1) Download APK from link: O3D LEDs v. 1.4
2) Install with your favourite file manager
After installation it will ask you to grant root rights. It is necessary to ALLOW superuser rights.
Known issues:
Timeout after keypress reacts only on the first keypress. If there are any other keypresses during the default system timeout (~3s), the LEDs won't be lit. (can't be fixed)
LEDs fading doesn't work (and probably never will)
Change of brightness doesn't work (and probably never will)
according to Martin Börjesson "Gmail 2.3.5+ no longer works with the built-in Gmail-check. To get it to work again Gmail has to be disabled in Notifications and then added as a monitored activity (Notifications -> Monitored activites -> Gmail)."
TODO:
Fading
More complex scenarios for LEDs and vibrations
Changelog:
v1.4
added: support for ICS (SU760 port by xbsall
important: you have to check Settings - Display - Front key light - Turn on front key light.
(there is no need to upgrade from 1.3 if you don't have ICS on P920 or SU760. It won't allow the upgrade anyway, because I screwed up)
v1.3
added: simple widget
v1.2.4
added: you can now set the leds' "after keypress" timeout
v1.2.3
better way to check for superuser (thanks go again to Martin Börjesson)
v1.2.2
fixed: FC on start
v1.2.1
fixed: LEDs sometimes stayed on when the screen turned off
v1.2
added: LEDs can stay on while the screen is on
v1.2beta
fix: battery issue
removed: accelerometer something
removed: fading options
v1.1
added O3D support
Big thanks to Martin Börjesson for making his app open-source.
Thanks, I'll try
thx alot...just what i was looking 4!!
sent from the 3rd dimension with my optimus
Installed, can't for the life of me get it working
the "test" works fine, it has super user privileges etc, just no idea what needs activating and what doesn't, by default nothing works
Well, it should work right after installation for Missed Calls, SMS and GMail... Maybe some task manager kills the app? Maybe you don't have active notifications, or you are using different app for messages - it can be added to notifications ("notifications" - "select monitored activities" and find the app you are using).
Also keep in mind that there is default waiting time 4 seconds before the notifications start (it can be changed in settings).

Ok, according to Martin Börjesson "Gmail 2.3.5+ no longer works with the built-in Gmail-check. To get it to work again Gmail has to be disabled in Notifications and then added as a monitored activity (Notifications -> Monitored activites -> Gmail)."
If you've activated the Lights notification, then the LED notification will work for every app that wants to notify by LED (maybe your Google+).

If LG - hopefully with a forthcoming update - makes writable the LED's file system instead of keeping it as read only, could we use your build without root/superuser rights, isn't it?
Yes, it should work without root then.
Ok, thanks for the confirmation: I try to push a bit the manufacturer regarding the little firmware mod! If anybody else wanna support the same request, maybe...

Well, you have to confirm that message and after that you will be asked by superuser app to allow root access. and that's all.
If it doesn't work, check if you have file "/sys/devices/platform/keypad_led/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness"

This is the problem, superuser app ask nothing.
I checked the file /sys/devices/platform/keypad_led/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness and is ok.
the app looks for the file I've mentioned, if it exists, it checks wheter it is read-only, then it tries the chmod command to make it writeable and that's when it needs root permission. There is nothing more I can do about it, the permissions must be given by superuser app.
You can try to set chmod 766 on the brightness file manually.
Working But!!
I installed and it worked straight off, one issue though that I had is that it is using far too much battery, so I had to uninstall, otherwise it worked flawlessly.

[APP][ROOT][2.3+] CamaMind tools for missed call

Hi,
I have a Htc Desire with Android 2.3.5 (rooted) and the problem with clear or cancel missed call notification (MODIFY_PHONE_STATE permission) with alternative dialer app (go contacs,Angel Dialer).
So I develop a simple app that is configurable for intercept missed call, launch customizable notification with reminder and go to default dialer phone resetting system missed call notification.
But for this target, the app must install under /system/app, otherwise, as a normal app, the 'clear missed call' is not functionally. I use SSHDroid or ES File Explorer for copy apk in system/app e run install.
Reboot your phone.
I have tested this app only on my device. It's my first app, but is working for my case.
who is proposed as a beta test?
thank you very much
Manny
Notes
I'm not responsable for any damage provided by this application.
Probably some bugs left, provided for testing purpose.
Functionality
Cancel missed call notification if you use alternative dialer app
Repeating alarm for missed call (Sound, Vibration, Led)
Repeating alarm for new SMS (Sound, Vibration, Led)
Requirement
root
Installation
Just copy CamaMind.apk under /system/app
Changelog
2.0 : Complete code review for bug fixing (or for add new bugs?!?). Please feedback me.
Thanks, it is working great with the ROM in my sig. and exDialer!
Only think I would like to ask to fix, is that when pushing back button after viewing missed call log, it first returns in CamaMind menu and I have to push back button again to clear display.
wow, way too much permissions for what the app is doing:
- SMS?
- Internet?
- Contacts?
- Standby Mode?
Please provide some feedback on why you need all these permissions.
Hi,
I want to tell you that I did not believe that the application was being used (we hope).
I fixed the bug reported by Jolas.
Report for permission:
for monitoring call and sms in input : READ_PHONE_STATE
for reset missed call: MODIFY_PHONE_STATE
for open calls log: READ_CONTACTS
for led in stand-by : WAKE_LOCK
for receive and open sms apps: READ_SMS | RECEIVE_SMS
Thanks all.
Manny
Thanks, but what about internet?
I really don't see why the app has to connect to the internet...

No LED Notification
I tested your app but I had to delete it again, when it is active I don't get LED notifications for missed calls (haven't tested SMS).
Also I have to tap the notification 2 or more times to have the other, call notification cleared, which is not that bad, but still annoying for an app that should make things easier, but the no LED is critical for me.
I think you go in a good direction, some more tweaks (settings to turn on/off SMS notif for example, bugs as mentioned above) and your app might be very helpful once finished, it really is very annoying to have to clear the notification when not using stock dialer!
another method of clearing missed calls notifications with other than stock dialer is described here and is working very well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187025
hope this helps, cheers

Hi, on my Desire with Oxygen v2.3 I have not this problem.
In theory, the LED should light blue color. On my device the LED lights green, but lights! Becomes blue until after the second round notification, and if I clicked on the default notification of missed calls. Can you make a test?

Sorry for not coming back to you earlier.
I have now tested your app again and the notification LED works as well as the implementation to choose not to run when an SMS is coming is great!
Only issue I still have, and this is kind of a real dealbreaker, is that your app seams to work only one time.
I miss a call, I get 2 notifs, yours and from phone, i click on yours, both get cleared and I am in my phone app (dialer2), so far so good. Now, when I get another missed call, I again get both notifications, but when I click on yours my phone app opens but it doesn't clear your nor the phone notification. I have to manually clear them (as is the case without your app).
The next missed call, the phone notification says 2 missed calls and yours is there as usual, again not clearing when clicking on it. After I go into yout apps settings and disable and enable it, all works again for one time...
If you sort out this issue, then your app would be perfect for me!

@varoon, @angenit ...
Please check and confirm the status of the following findings on your respective devices ...
1. Keyboard characters messed up
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
2. SWAP SUPPORT NOT ON KERNEL, please install swapper 2 and try enabling it on your devices.
- INCORPORATED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
3. Confirm if HOTSPOT(tethering) feature is missing from your settings.
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
4. Choose 'external' from 'cyanogen mod settings - application - install location' install a couple of test apps from the market and check if they are installed on the external card.
- UNTESTED (I HAVE DARKTREMORS A2SD SO I CAN'T CONFIRM) !!!!!!!
4a. A2SD SUPPORT ON KERNEL EXPECTED.
- INCORPORATED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
5. On screen keyboard not launching when phone rotated sideways.
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
6. Selected input launguages not toggling when globe key pressed on physical keyboard.
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
6(a). The keyboard is back in action, however it needs some further tweaks, The virtual keyboard has to be switched off when in the right-side-up position as it is redundant in the presence of the physical keyboard.
Also while in the landscape position the virtual keyboard takes up the entire screen space leaving only 1-2 lines visible for input space, very problematic when trying to drag the cursor guide(which keeps jumping to the beginning of the text field) to the right place in the passage while editing.
Tweaks : The virtual keyboard should not exceed more than 50% of the screen and needs to have better cursor guide control
- BUG IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
7. SIM card contents like contacts and SMS'es are not getting populated(viewable) in phone book and messages. The setting for USIM is missing from contacts display setting.
- YET TO BE FIXED !!!!!!!
8. The speaker phone volume while on a call is very low, using the volume button increases the in-call volume and has no effect on the speaker phone volume,
. The sound settings however are maxed out for ringtone, ringer, media and alarm volumes.
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
9. In the 'battery use' section of settings the % and the progress bars are not matching, the bar stands at zero for all the categories.
- YET TO BE FIXED !!!!!!!
10. When you turn off the android keyboard in settings, the settings are forcely closed and when you try to go to "phone state" it closes... after when you reboot the keyboard is turned on again.
- YET TO BE FIXED !!!!!!!
11. Video Recording is also not working in the latest build.
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
12. Since Build 15, the camera is not working, the moment the camera is run the screen starts blinking/flickering rapidly with "ANDROID_" showing on the screen, this state cannot be exited the phone needs to be rebooted to get out of this flicker'y loop.
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
13. Since after builds 11 and 12 the overall performance of the animations or screen responsiveness has deteriorated with build 15 noticeably laggy or slow.
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
14. Also the physical keyboard response is choppy i'e, the instant a key is pressed, the letters display a split second later on the screen. So when one is typing a little fast, you see the letters on the screen not keeping up with the speed of key-presses. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CHOPPINESS IS ONLY WHEN ONE IS USING THE PHYSICAL KEYBOARD !!! the android onscreen keyboard as a normal steady keypress response)
- FIXED IN THE LATEST BUILD !!!!!!!
15. Wifi HotSpot connecting but internet not browsable !!! - since build 34
- TO BE FIXED !!!!!!!
Thnx,
1.- Yes, I also have the interchanged keys, the same ones.
2.- Not successful
3.- Now with build 6 I have tethering and hotspot and they work. When I used 5 it wasn't available.
4.- Well I think some of them are in the SD, but Gmail was in internal memory (I moved it with force2sd)
5.- No keyboard when rotating screen.
6.- No changes with language globe or mail and calendar keys.
7.- I couldn't say that because I don't save information in the SimCard, just Google and PC :S
8.- Yes, totally true what you state.
9.- My mistake, bars are in 0! but numbers are working fine.
If you find anymore just tell me.
Thanks Angenit,
BUT LET US KEEP THE POST SHORTER - please avoid using quotes for the entire posts.
No. 4 - Can you test a few more apps installation to confirm if this is totally fixed in your build ?
No 3 - Wifi Hotspots seems to have been fixed - Can you test it extensively ?
No 9 - seems to have been fixed in your build.
@ Angenit
Can you please test your build as my build is the 5th one.
@ Ricardo - If you are watching this thread !
@ others/anyone
Is there a way we can update to the latest build(daily) without having to replace it each and every time ? This way i hope to retain the apps already installed from build to build and save the trouble of installing 40 odd apps daily.
help is much appreciated !!!
thnx.
If you use Rom Manager and don't check nothing but Dalvik wipe (which is checked by default) you will keep your apps. I updated two times and I haven't lost any app.
4.- Yep I receive a warning from appmonster telling me I can move it, but when I go to check if that's true they are moved.
5.- Well I tested it for half an hour and it was successful.
6.- No wait, you're right, the numbers are fine (different values) but the bars are in 0.
Build 6 works fine and has the hotspot and tethering option fixed.
Sorry i did not understand...u mean...
'un-check' everything else and keep the dalvik cache 'checked' ?
or
'check' everything else and keep the dalvik cache 'un-checked' ?
thnx.
When you choose the build in the SD with Rom Manager you get 3 options. Leave them like the following:
*unchecked* Copy the Rom in use
*unchecked* Erase Data & Cache
*checked* Wipe Dalvik Cache

When you turn off the android keyboard in settings, the settings are forcely closed and when you try to go to "phone state" it closes... after when you reboot the keyboard is turned on again.
Skype was installed in the internal memory
Video Recording is also not working in the last build..
Well, in the build 7 symbols are fixed!
Videocamera not working yet.
Keyboard error keeps happening.
Great Idea for the thread.
Well on build 5 I am facing these issues :
Symbols messed up
Speaker Volume very low
Sync problem when Whatsapp and Facebook are both syncing.
Latest Youtube App, User Interface messed up.
In log: Call button not visible, only Green(outgoing) and Blue (Incoming) Arrows Visible.
I will keep on updating. Whoever is trying latest versions. please keep us all posted on the Solved Issues
Thanks

Varoon, please upgrade to build 7 a few of the issues have been fixed.
Follow Angenit's post(below) on how to upgrade so as to not lose any apps already installed in your current build. I followed the same and successfully upgraded to build 7.

Hello from Serbia
Oh,build8 already..let d`l it
Well I've installed build 9, and there's no fixing of any of the mentioned bugs... It's just like 8.
I'm particularly interested in swap and the keyboard! I don't like it shows it when have to type because the reason why I got this device was the physical keyboard.
I wonder if the developers are even peeping on this thread, if yes !!! Please drop in a word saying so ... we know that u folks will be extremely tight ... not asking for anything more than a 'word' ... and we can't thank enough for what u guys pull-off !!!

Same here
On the keyboard issue, why don't you uncheck the android keyboard in the settings (you'll however get some errors - force closea) and you are good to go san the annoying keyboard.
Until the break and bug is fixed

New bug/break testing on build 9.......
others confirm if its pan your devices
as well before i add it to the main post.
When the Android Keyboard was unchecked
as reported earlier the settings need to be force-closed
a couple of times.
After disabling it i discovered the following...
When 'Compose New message(SMS) is opened, the physical keyboard does not
work on it. I need to re-enable the Android Keyboard in the settings to be able
to type into the Phone messaging(SMS) then the physical keyboard works on it.
waiting for confirmation across all modded devices.
cheers.
I have same problem as Aiamuzz described, there`s no way to type after disabling android kb.
Does anyone have a problem with sending mms?I was sending mms earlier, with this build (9) i cant, everything with settings for network operator is ok.
PS:I still have a problem with characters, can it be because i flashed phone with other version of fw,V10H_00?
Offtopic:where can i dl latest fw for Eastern Europe,in kdz format?
(I have V10H_00 and V10D_00)

Smart N' Loud - new cool app to customize specific contact incoming call preferenecs

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share a new app - Smart N' Loud
This application enables the user to customize incoming call preferences for a specific contact, and keep yourself available to certain people even if the phone is on silent mode.
The options starts from ringing each time the contact calls and ends with config it smarter, counting number of calls in time range, for example:
Make the phone ring if the contact called you twice in 15 minutes
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eyalse.smartandloud
You can also search YouTube for the application and see what it does!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQk7JLFojI4&feature=youtu.be
Please try it out, and write your comments!
Thanks, Eyal
A new update is available at the play store.
Up to 3 contacts - FREE!
Great app, thanks!

New update now in the store - version 1.2:

- When the phone is switched to silent/vibrate mode - the app asks you whether to activate the "override" settings or not.
You can also define Auto-Activate from the app.

Hi!
i have a question - in Galaxy phones - they have "blocking mode"...
so whats the difference between this "blocking mode" and your app?
it seems like it does the same!
That's a good question!
I'm familiar with this "blocking mode", which allows to define "white list" and "black list"...
It is similar to my app, but still, there are few differences:
1. in my app those who are not defined in the "white list" are not blocked, the phone just won't ring.
2. in my app you can define that the phone would ring if a contact called you several times (you decide how many) in a period of time (you decide how long).
3. by clicking a button, you can choose whether to activate the "white list" or not. the app will detect a switch to silent/vibrate mode and asks you what to do...
I hope this is satisfying...
