FAQ:
Q: Which rom can this run on?
A: I think this can be run in any rom, although I did not test all roms. Looks like hero use different Phone program, so you may not use it on hero build.
Q: Where are these settings?
A: In Settings -> Call Settings
For the guy who want the Eclair background and 210x210px, you can visit the following mod by Xenio.

All the guy want to restore to original aosp Phone.apk, you can get from :

whoa very nice what rom is this for?
and which dialer does it have?
the stock g1 phone.apk?

I think this can be run in any rom.
Phone is the core program of android phone.

Not to sound like a complete idiot, but what does the "vibrate on outgoing call on hook." acutally mean.
When they answer the phone it vibrates or when it connects it vibrates?
And then what is off hook? (At least in terms of a cell phone).
Thanks.

it vibrate on answer the phone.

hey, dude, just come for support~.

Thanks so much! I was just asking about this in the sapphire general forum. haha. Tested on RAv1.1.0H ROM and it works .

No, phone app itself won't store any configiration, if you want to a choice for disable vibrate during talking, you must add some more setting in Setting.apk, that's too complex, I don't want to make such modification....

Hi cytown, appreciate your work.
Is it possible to make another version which vibrate only on and off hook?
I usually have a long call and the phone vibrate every 45sec kinda annoying.
Thank you very much.

Yes, I will do such version when I have time, maybe tomorrow or the day after. Keep watching.

Does this changed a themed dial pad or does it just change the function?

big nu: Just the function. It vibrates when someone picks up your call. It's in HTC's Dialer, but not the default one.

Do you have source code for this available? I can take care of adding some options to the Settings app to control it. Wouldn't mind merging this with my builds if you don't mind.

Did you run TTS after installing it? Cuz I believe you have to run the app in order for it to download the voice package to ur sd card.
Two questions:
1. Does this notify you while your phone is on vibrate silent?
2. Is there a setting to turn it on/off or you have to uninstall it?

I have noticed a bug w/ this program's functionality when used with a bluetooth headset. The TTS is being routed to the headset connection, which does not exist until after the phone has been answered. (I caught a split second of the friendly robot's little voice in my headset).

Thanks man! I'm glad I posted that other thread and you came to my rescue with this one. Good job!
Well, besides saying thanks and posting to subscribe to this thread, do you know anything about capturing button events? ...no body said a word in my thread about the 2nd request:
<quote>
EDIT: And while I'm posting development requests, I would also like to see an app that lets you re-assign buttons (like vol+/- could page up and down unless there is sound playing, and the camera button which does nothing in Hero could be assigned to launch an app [HTC Camera] or even bring up a menu of apps to select from). They have lots of button programs for WinMo, but I've seen none for android.
</quote>
I had another idea for this app...
There is a thread here about making the phone ring faster. They have found setting priorities helps, but the settings are not persistent. Could your app possibly keep verifying/setting these priorities so the TTS ring starts as soon as possible?
...just a random thought.

I'm actually running the TTSNotifier with a lower priority because I think phone ring / vibrate / responsiveness matters more than getting the voice speak 0.3 seconds faster.
We can't force all applications to run with high priority because it would kill the use of priority
Edit: Hmm, ofcourse if you only use the TTSNotifier this might become a problem, i'll add a setting for this so every1 is happy
Edit2: Bah, when waiting for the TTS to start i'm reading out the settings. If I add this feature it might slow a tiny bit down. If there really is a problem with this I'll change it
Can you add the version # to the apk
So it will read "TTSNotifier v1.1"
Zillode
This is awesome. I've been looking for something like this that works for awhile. Thanks.
What is the point of the wifi enabled or disabled option? Does TTS depend on internet speed?

[APP][UPDATEv1.6.5] Andro+ Call Manager (Backgrounder)

Hi there!
We are two developers who have been following xda for a long time,
We are happy to announce a new kind of Application on Android Market and want some suggestions and testing by xda community!
This is the App's description:
Andro+ Call Backgrounder provides you an important feature that Android System lacks!
CallBackgrounder lets you put in background an incoming call simply by pressing a button!
How many times you were watching a video, playing a game or reading email/website and an Incoming call disturbed your actvity?
With CallBackgrounder you can return to the last app you were using by putting incoming call in background!
The caller will never notice about your action, the incoming call will continue in background and you will be free to carry on whatever you were doing and maybe later answer/reject.
You can find filters based on contacts and apps that let you ACTIVATE CallBackgrounder ONLY for some contacts or running apps.
New Feature: Shake Detection, if activated Popup will be displayed ONLY if you shake your phone!
DON'T FORGET to watch sample video that you can find in Android Market page! Or just go to: http://tinyurl.com/androcallbg
Click to collapse
NEW FEATURE: Tiny Layout and Shake&Background, watch them on last one screenshot or directly on Youtube: http://tinyurl.com/androcallbgnf
Now You can use non-invasive Tiny Layout on TOP of your existing CallScreen Layout! Tiny Layout is not a Popup but ONLY one button!
So what are you waiting for? Try out the app and let us know your opinions!
What's new:
What's new? Andro+ Call Backgrounder becomes Andro+ Call Manager introducing new options, now you can place your incoming call in background and/or reject your incoming call and AUTO-Recall the caller!
*) ON SALE! For limited time!
*) Version 1.6.5 solved a bug when placing in background call on some devices
*) Solved bug: no restore ringer settings on call ending, thanks to Stefan
*) New Name new functions!
*) Fixed Anonymous call bug
*) New Feature: Tiny Layout (that you can see in the second screenshot) and Shake & Background function
*) New Feature: Shake Detection, if activated Popup will be displayed ONLY if you shake your phone!

I was hoping more along the lines of being able to press the home/back button or something to put the call in the background. I like the stock slide to answer/reject calls method.

How does something like this correspond whit apps like Go Dialer ?

Thanks for replying, unfortunately Android System blocks Home Button so we can't override it!
But if you want something less intrusive you can use the "Shake Detection" function that let you activate the Popup ONLY by shaking the phone during an incoming call.
Any other feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
We have just tried it with Go Contacts/Dialer and with Video Caller Id
and it works great with them.
We appreciate any further opinions,
There's a way to press "home" during a call and talk to the person in the background while using your phone otherwise, similar to what the iPhone does. If it's not what the "send to background" option does, any way to add a "pick up but put in background" option?

Thanks for suggestion,
Can be good an option that allow you to have a notification (in notification bar) to recall your missed call (that you've previously placed in background) by pushing it?
Something like missed call notification but when you press it, it will re-dial your contact?
Let us know,
Thanks,

Hey folks,
Many of you have downloaded and tried Andro+ Call Backgrounder, how it worked? Did you like it?
If you write here your feedback we can improve it!
Thanks to all.
Just tried the demo and so far so good. I just have one suggestion for now. For people who want to use their own dialer to answer/reject calls, can you make the "shake detection" automatically put the call in the background? It's kind of annoying to shake the phone then have to press the background button.

We've just added this features to Andro+ Call Backgrounder,
Update is on Android Market,
more details on first page of this Thread,
I'm looking for app that would completely ignore and send specified calls to background immediately ("don't answer" mode, not "reject"), so i do not even know i've been called. No ring, no vibration, no screen wake up when phone is asleep and not a single one notification when it's awake. Is it possible with root?

Seems possible, however, while the phone is asleep it may not be possible to check the number then background it before the screen awakes and/or rings. Backgrounding certain numbers automatically is definitely doable though.

[APP][ROOT][2.3+] CamaMind tools for missed call

Hi,
I have a Htc Desire with Android 2.3.5 (rooted) and the problem with clear or cancel missed call notification (MODIFY_PHONE_STATE permission) with alternative dialer app (go contacs,Angel Dialer).
So I develop a simple app that is configurable for intercept missed call, launch customizable notification with reminder and go to default dialer phone resetting system missed call notification.
But for this target, the app must install under /system/app, otherwise, as a normal app, the 'clear missed call' is not functionally. I use SSHDroid or ES File Explorer for copy apk in system/app e run install.
Reboot your phone.
I have tested this app only on my device. It's my first app, but is working for my case.
who is proposed as a beta test?
thank you very much
Manny
Notes
I'm not responsable for any damage provided by this application.
Probably some bugs left, provided for testing purpose.
Functionality
Cancel missed call notification if you use alternative dialer app
Repeating alarm for missed call (Sound, Vibration, Led)
Repeating alarm for new SMS (Sound, Vibration, Led)
Requirement
root
Installation
Just copy CamaMind.apk under /system/app
Changelog
2.0 : Complete code review for bug fixing (or for add new bugs?!?). Please feedback me.
Thanks, it is working great with the ROM in my sig. and exDialer!
Only think I would like to ask to fix, is that when pushing back button after viewing missed call log, it first returns in CamaMind menu and I have to push back button again to clear display.
wow, way too much permissions for what the app is doing:
- SMS?
- Internet?
- Contacts?
- Standby Mode?
Please provide some feedback on why you need all these permissions.
Hi,
I want to tell you that I did not believe that the application was being used (we hope).
I fixed the bug reported by Jolas.
Report for permission:
for monitoring call and sms in input : READ_PHONE_STATE
for reset missed call: MODIFY_PHONE_STATE
for open calls log: READ_CONTACTS
for led in stand-by : WAKE_LOCK
for receive and open sms apps: READ_SMS | RECEIVE_SMS
Thanks all.
Manny
Thanks, but what about internet?
I really don't see why the app has to connect to the internet...

No LED Notification
I tested your app but I had to delete it again, when it is active I don't get LED notifications for missed calls (haven't tested SMS).
Also I have to tap the notification 2 or more times to have the other, call notification cleared, which is not that bad, but still annoying for an app that should make things easier, but the no LED is critical for me.
I think you go in a good direction, some more tweaks (settings to turn on/off SMS notif for example, bugs as mentioned above) and your app might be very helpful once finished, it really is very annoying to have to clear the notification when not using stock dialer!
another method of clearing missed calls notifications with other than stock dialer is described here and is working very well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187025
hope this helps, cheers

I have now tested your app again and the notification LED works as well as the implementation to choose not to run when an SMS is coming is great!
Only issue I still have, and this is kind of a real dealbreaker, is that your app seams to work only one time.
I miss a call, I get 2 notifs, yours and from phone, i click on yours, both get cleared and I am in my phone app (dialer2), so far so good. Now, when I get another missed call, I again get both notifications, but when I click on yours my phone app opens but it doesn't clear your nor the phone notification. I have to manually clear them (as is the case without your app).
The next missed call, the phone notification says 2 missed calls and yours is there as usual, again not clearing when clicking on it. After I go into yout apps settings and disable and enable it, all works again for one time...
If you sort out this issue, then your app would be perfect for me!

Vibrate pattern

I used to have my phone give me a 3 quick vibrate pattern for incoming text and other notifications. (System Settings>>Sound)
But now I don't have any of those options (or can't find it). Anyone know off hand where that is or how to get it back?
I believe I may have switch Messaging programs....think i flashed either AOKP or CM10 and was on the other previously.
If that's what made that change I'll flash back if someone knows.
I'm currently on Eclipse build 4...with justin860's 4.1.2 inverted apps.
thanks,
I'm on Jelly Bean's Rom Build 6 and I have the same issue (and I believe stock has this issue too). There doesn't seem to be any way to get a different vibration pattern for text messages on stock messaging app that I've found. :/
It is the cm10 mms. Inside there you get the choice, plus it has the quickview quick reply option popup which is real nice.
is it possible to flash cyanogenmod 10 sms app (or is there an apk?) without the full rom? edit: yes it is but it doesn't work on the rom I use (bean's rom build 6)

yeah I'd think it would work on any aosp rom like aokp or cm10 ....but not a tw rom like beans.
I made a fix for this problem (I'd post directly to my reddit thread but I can't yet post outside links so I'll just copy the text):
"So one of my biggest annoyances (pretty much my only annoyance) when I first got my GS3 was that the SMS notification for the stock SMS app is always a long single vibration rather than two brief ones (two differentiate it from a call vibration). I searched but all the solutions I could find involved battery-eating third party apps just for customizing notifications which I didn't want or third-party sms apps which I didn't want.
So I decided to roll my own solution. I bought Tasker and set up a new profile. Here are the instructions to set up this profile if you're new to Tasker:
Create a new profile with the [+] button.
For the Context, you want "Event" then "Phone" then "Received Text" and then click the check mark.
Then for the Task, you want "Alert" then "Vibrate Pattern." Here you have some options. You enter patterns in the format "#,#" where the first number (in milliseconds) is how long to wait before starting to vibrate, then the second is how long (in milliseconds) to vibrate for, and then you can add more to pause more and then vibrate more. I use "0,300,250,300" which means immediately vibrate for 300 milliseconds, then wait 250 milliseconds, then vibrate 300 milliseconds again.
Then just make sure you disable the vibration built into the stock sms app: go to your sms list, his the menu key, then settings, then scroll down to notification settings and uncheck "Vibrate."
And you're done!"

[APP] New Blimps 2.0 - Floating Dialer Buttons

Blimps 2.0 - Floating Dialer Features
Hi all,
Its back and its 2.0 !
With Blimps the dialer buttons floats on top of your screen and you can do whatever whenever while talking with someone.
New UI and new floating Buttons
What's Floating:
- Hide'em
- End call
- Loud Speaker
- Mute
- Quick Note
- Dialer (might have 5 sec. delay after pressing the home button)
Features :
- Compatible with Android 6.0.1+
- Dynamic positioning on screen (hide mode)
- Proximity enable/disable to prevent clicking mistakes
I often find myself doing something else with my phone while talking on it. like : SMS, chat, Mails...
by doing something else i always send my dialer to the background and loosing the control of my call options (mute, speaker, hangup...)
whenever i want to use my dialer options i need to stop what i was doing -> pull down the notification bar -> press the dialer -> use it (long time)
well... NO MORE.
As you all know Android has many OS UIs (Touchwiz, LG UI....) so it hasn't been tested on every one of them.
So if you can help me check Blimps on different UIs I'll appreciate your feedback.
Checkout short video:
Play store link : Blimps
changelog :
2.0 -
- New UI
- New Buttons
1.3 -
- Visual loud speaker state
- choosing the Blimps default position (Left / Right)
- New Splash screen
** still working on the major version update with more buttons
Thanks
Looks interesting.Gonna try !
Thx, feel free to feedback

Seems to be working as advertised. Actually using it right now as I type. The speakerphone button works fine, and the end call button works fine. Very handy. However, when I switched from speaker to regular phone, my screen didn't shut off when I held it to my ear. I'll try it a few more times with and without your app running to see if it's my phone or the app.

Great idea :good:
Thanks for this useful app :good:
Can u implement some features from Call Popout like grouping all the options under one movable head (like facebook chat head) and have more options like the call time, silence the ring, pick up, hang up... etc, as Call Popout development seems to be discontinued.
Note 3 SM-N9005 works perfect on outgoing call; incoming call still shows the dialer, no popup!
Just tried it on RAZR HD (XT 925) on cm11 and works perfectly (incoming and outgoing calls and screen off on proximity). I'm sticking to this app
testing
Thanks for your work! great idea!
I found a BUG:
* It keeps the proximity sensor ON all the time (I can see the red light) after a call. Until I kill the Blimps process.
Also, for improvement, I think it needs to be implemented as some sort of Service, just so it's not being killed so easily. Virtually any kill app, even the same Android OS, will kill it since it's "just an app in the background". (or you can code it for Xposed Framework!)
The rest of the app seems to be working perfect! Tested for outgoing calls on Defy with CM11.
Just to be curious, why does it need connectivity access permission? Just to open playstore?

Hi
Just thinking the same, Call Popout works quite bad, but its features (answer calls, blacklist...) are interesting, so would be nice to have a decent, active mantainted multitasking call app! :good:
Awesome, giving this go. Subscribed

Woooo.
Great job
Works like a charm on Nexus 5, Cataclysm ROM!
Great job!
Just a suggestion, can you create a "FN Extension" for this feature?
working great on my GS3, GS4 and Nexus. Simple but effective. Like it a lot, Nice job!!
Worked perfectly on my Samsung G'Nex running a flavor of cm11!!! I had no issues with my proximity sensor or touchscreen. Such a simple concept yet there never really has been a good solution. I for one am glad you made this :highfive:
Edit : works sorry.
Like it. Proximity Sensor does not work. Auto start on boot. Nice....
Note2 / 4.3 / CF_Auto-Stock
sounds great, gonna give it a go.
Thanks for fixing this glaring lack of a feature. Now my phone call multitasking experience is complete. Thanks!
