Question on choosing the right ROM for me and my Mytouch - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I am ready to start rooting and flashing my Mytouch today however i am a bit sketchy with proceeding forward as i have a few concerns about what ill get after everything is done.
i loved that when i first got my Mytouch that when i turnd it on Google on the Mytouch synced my GMAIL accounts and CONTACTS with my Mytouch as soon as i signed in do any other ROMS offer this?
thats basically it and that i hope that WiFi and Blue Tooth will work ok as well but when i read peoples ROM threads i can see where they say what works and what doesnt but i never see anyone mention the Google and GMAIL sync in their ROMS.
thanks for any help.

Any of the roms will do that, that's part of the Google Android phone experience

I would just like a 32B rom for my Mytouch that will do everything my stock Mytouch did plus allow me to tether and change themes with out having to use OPEN HOME and have similar battery life to what the stock Mytouch had.
any suggestions?

Cyanogen's ROM is the best, in my opinion.

Ok, i have Tmobile Mytouch 3G

ok so i have read some threads, and i truly dont see one just for Mytouch, but when i saw Saphire it does look exactly like it. As we all know Eclair 2.0 is out but yet to be for any other phone but the Droid. I do enjoy Mytouch and i kinda am lookin forward to 2.0 but i dont see it coming anytime soo. And to be honest the only thing i truly want is Google navigation (voice). I did read that if rooted it can be done but is there away i can still have Google nav on my 1.6 donut without having to root it. As we all know rooting the phone can brick it and im not looking forward to do, even though if i root the phone i will also have access to multitouch which i will like.
Any suggestion?
There is more than one thread explaing how to get the nav on all versions of any ROM
Also, the 2.0 is currently only aviable for the 32b (which is what you have).
You need to do alot more reading.
ok will keep readin hope i can find something, again im not looking to root my phone yet but be capable of installing such software, this thread can be closed if thats the case. I will search
There are multiple ways to root your phone, its something you may want to do.
2.0 is currently being built by more than a few chefs. Once they really get into it you will start seeing some 2.0 ROMs showing up. The thread on the first page already has a working 2.0 ROM minus the camera, accerlometer, and something else minor. Give it a week or so.
maps with nav is in the market, just update map, access directions in map, pick where you wanna go, and when it list the directions, touch navigate
check theunlockr.com, it's kinda hard to brick your phone with those instructions
yea u right i download it and installed it and its running just like droid so im extremely happy, free awesome fast voice just great, the only thing left is multi touch lol but i still got plenty of threads to read so i wont make anyone mad
EDIT: no need to unlock or root your phone to use Google NAV just install and use

New to MyTouch3g

Like the title says I am new to the Mytouch. I rooted my Sprint Hero about a month ago and I love what I was able to get out of it. My girlfriend seeing my happiness with it has since asked me if it would make her Mytouch run better. So basically she wants me to root her phone and add a good ROM. I have herard of cyanogen and all but what would be a good daily Rom for her. Just something quicker and better on battery. I know what setcpu can do for my phone. But whats the best for a MyTouch3g? Thank you in advance.

Depends how she uses her phone... what firmware she wants (1.6 or 2.1) and either Vanilla Donut or s Sense rom
Needs more details on exactly which MyTouch 3G it is, as right now there's 4 variants
- MyTouch 3G (v1) with 32B SPL (aka Magic 32B)
- MyTouch 3G (v1) with 32A SPL (aka Magic 32A)
- MyTouch 3G LE (Limited Edition Fender, 32A)
- MyTouch 3G 1.2 (32A with headphone jack)
The last two are essentially identical, and are currently the only two MyTouch 3Gs actively sold (other than any old stock of the v1), but is also the only ones that has no real custom roms, if you want to root the last two you have to read very carefully which procedure you're using since its not the same ones as the Magic 32B/A. For example the only real working rooting process is linked in my signature for the last two and currently limited to the stock rom as being the fully functional one.
As you're probably already aware with your Sprint phone... you shouldn't just blindly flash radios/boots etc as you find them cuz it wouldn't be hard at all to brick the Fender or MyTouch 3G 1.2, by flashing a radio intended for the older MyTouches (ie: any thread that talks about Magic 32A or 32B)
I would be looking for a 1.6 build. I wanna give her something daily/stable and usable. Vanilla is fine seeing thats what she is used to. I duno what version of the MYTouch it is I know its not a Fender and it doesnt have the 3.5 mm headphone jack. When she bought it it was 1.5 and like a day later it upped to 1.6. Like with my phone I am doing my research. Dont wanna brick her phone. She would kill me and cut me in my sleep.

Since it doesn't have the 3.5mm headphone jack on top, it would be the original MyTouch 3G, which leaves you a lot of options both 32A and 32B (though you'll see a lot more choices including Cyanogenmod for 32B).
If she were to downgrade back to the 1.5 rom, I think CM has a one-click-rooting capability.
Instructions can be found here. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_MT3G/Magic_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
After completion should have a rooted 1.6 cyanogenmod rom.

In that case i think Cyanogen is perfect because it's stable and usually gets updated every month or so and not all the time every week got to flash a new update with new problems

[Q] Specific Question on my Ideal Evo Rom

Hi There! I've scoured the forums, but haven't been able to definitively find my answer. And thus I submit my first supplication to the XDA deities...
I just rooted my Evo and have been trying out several roms ... Cyanogenmod, Fresh Evo, Baked Snack, OMJ ... But none have exactly what I'm looking for. The following are important to me, but seemingly difficult to get all in one package:
4G
Swype
Wireless Tether
Wiimotable Bluetooth Stack
Remove almost every Sprint Apps (this seems easy on most roms)
Better battery life and performance would be nice too...
Any ideas?
I know that cyanogenmod has all of this except 4G (but they are on the cusp!) In the alpha build that has 4G there seem to be a lot of usability issues (like camera issues and you have to turn off your phone to turn 4G back on). I also haven't been able to successfully install Swype... Maybe the best solution is to wait for Cyanogenmod to work out the kinks with 4G?

TMobile WiFi calling with rooted/stock android?

I just got my first Android phone! But I've heard that the stock Android build is a lot better than TMobile skin, so I wanted to root it and put Froyo or Gingerbread on my phone. My one issue is I like the TMobile WiFi calling app, but TMobile says they dont have it for download on the Android market for it. Is there any way to get the TMobile wifi calling app on my phone if I put stock Android on it?
Jbv? What is that?

Was spamming to get to 10 posts. ignore it. It's been dealt with.
Check the ROMs that interest you. Kineto's WiFi Calling is included in CM7. I don't use it, however.
HTC Glacier running CM7 #33
The standard wifi calling app is included in most, if not all of the ROM's I've tried so far...
Sent from my Glacier running CM7
Oh really. So the stock Froyo or Gingerbread rom would have it?
What rom would you recommend? I think I just want the standard Android UI.
Ice glacier rom
I would recommend the Ice glacier rom if you like the current look n feel of stock, overclock enabled, the themed version had blue sun/moon on the htc sense weather and a few blue icons, unthemed is looking like stock, no blue sun
I don't really like the stock look of the myTouch 4G. I would rather have the stock froyo or gingerbread UI, but I also want the T-Mobile wifi calling to work.
The cm6 or cm7 both have the wifi calling built in. They are pretty stock asop style if trnava what your looking for. Also there is a g2 port which I believe is as straight a android build you can get.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Thank you very much I was worry the same thing cause I lost cellular signal and it switch to wifi calling automatically

[Q] Inspire 4G custom roms

Just a few questions guys. Sorry if it has been discussed before. But, I'm coming from an HD2 and am thinking about getting an AT&T Inspire. Since the Inspire is a native Android device, it probably doesn't suffer the same bugs that the HD2 did when it has Android on it does it? In particular when you ran a Sense 3 rom on it, you would have trouble with graphic glitches. I'm guessing you don't have that problem with this phone? Is there some other known bugs that you face when you run a custom rom on the Inspire? I loved my HD2 so much that I had to get a comparable newer model of phone. I just felt it was time to get an actual Android native phone because of the various issues that I ran into. Also, if I root the Inspire will I be able to get rid of the AT&T bloatware if I choose to stick with the stock rom? I was running my HD2 on AT&T so I could only get EDGE with it and I got tired of the slow internet when I was not in a wifi area. Thanks for your answers!

If you're partial to CM7 based roms, not sure if this is a problem across the board for all devices, but at least on the Inspire CM7 roms don't like to read your SIM card, so back up your contacts to gmail and sync if you want to use a CM7 ROM.
I've used ARHD, Bindroid and Absolution. I have tried just about every rom there is on the Inspire but these 3 seem to be the most stable, a lot of support and just an overall great time. This isn't to say the other roms out there are terrible, I just fancy these and as anyone will tell you, different strokes for different folks. Your best bet, if you do get the Inspire, try all the roms out and see what best fits you, what minor bugs you can deal with and ones you can't. You'll find out very quickly what you're willing to live with and what you're willing to do without! Each ROM is not totally bugless, each have their share of little bugs and honestly the devs do a great job at fixing them and keeping their respective ROMs up to date (or at least the ones I have mentioned, again this isn't to say the other roms don't..I just use these consistently and can only attest to what they do). There use to be an audio issue but many roms have since fixed that. If you do get an inspire, the Desire HD is the same model phone pretty much and thus many of those roms can be flashed onto our device, if you take that route for whatever reason, you'll need to find the audio fix.
Thanks for the information. I think I will stick to the Inspire roms instead of the DHD ones. I'm a bit more partial to the Sense roms than the vanilla ones. I really like Sense. Yeah, I found that out with the HD2 running android. You had to try several roms out to see which one had the fewest most tolerable bugs. As far as roms not wanting to read the sim card, I always have a backup of my contacts on gmail. I thought it was convenient when I flashed a rom and signed in with my google account it would sync them all back to the phone.

No problem! I'm partial to sense roms as well but every now and then my CM7 inner child wants to have some fun. I typically keep to Bindroid (releases aren't as frequent and the following is small but man do they put out a really really stable rom). ARHD is another sense favorite of mine, also very stable, great development and a lot of mods/themes/add-ons. I use Absolution for my CM7 fix...again, great development, friendly group over there too!
Cool, I will be sure and check those out.
I also noticed with this phone you don't need to partition your nand everytime you switch out a rom. As a matter of fact you don't do that at all. That is a plus!!

Simple answer is no. There is no rom that is like that. A search of the available roms would have told you this.
