There is none, it just activates/deactivates WiFi when you click the icon
Its a console application..

You should try action screen.
It has your one click wifi toggler and also bluetooth toggler.
And much more just take a look

Action Screen is all that I need...

wow, that looks great... hope it works on my T-mobile Wing ...

Action Screen only makes sense if your device didn't already come with a radio toggle screen. My HTC Advantage already has one of those screens, so 'Action Screen' is worthless to me.
elmalote: Good work. This is very helpful for me because I use SPB PocketPlus and I've always wanted a desktop icon that activates WiFi without having to go to a separate screen. Any plans to make a Bluetooth toggle?

Great work elmalote!

Yeah, a bluetooth toggle would compliment your wifi toggle perfectly. You could probably even package them together.

wait how do i use this .cab file?!

put file in your device and tap it with stilus

Thanks for creating & sharing elmalote!

Hi Elmalote,
thanks for yr sharing~ It's great work~
Btw, could u work on Bluetooth toggle button (in discoverable mode)?
Thanks again~

I would like to see a gprs-toggle button. It's easy to find wifi and bt togglers but I can't seem to find a simple gprs-toggle programme... Maybe that's an idea?

There is a file named "DataDisconnect.exe" under Windows folder. You can make a shortcut and use it as quicklink.

can that be used to toggle it to 'on' too?

You don't need this. Data Connection is being auto activated, when it's necessary.

Flashing Bluetooth Discover Icon in Tray - FIXED! Thanks!

So, I have noticed that a lot of the newer roms have a discover icon flashing in the system tray. Is there a way to disable that? Its really irritating, and I like to leave bt discover on all the time.
Thanks!
I've tried looking in the forums and on google, but I havent found anything helpful
Go to Settings > Today > Items and uncheck the BT connection
This isnt on the today screen its in the tray... see attached screenshot.
The only items I have on my today screen are HTC home, battery status, resco and IM+ but none of those applications have those features, and when I have everything tunred off and just a plain today screen it still does it.
I just flashed my friends phone... turned on bt discover and the icon is there.. its so irritating what can I do to get rid of this thing!?
Thanks!

Battery Status
Have you disable tray launch in battery status?
I use the tray launch stuff from battery status, but the flashing bluetooth icon is not part of battery status. Like I said, I just flashed my friends phone and have not installed battery status yet and it still does it. I think its part of the new WM6.1 roms

It’s in the Bluetooth file sharing settings. If you select Setting>Connections>Bluetooth>FTP>Enable File Sharing (check) the icon is always flashing. I’m sure it’s some registry setting that can be modified to fix it.

you'll see "Turn off Visible mode:"
select "after 1 minute" in the dropdown menu.
wait for 1 minute & the flashing is gone in the tray.

Thats a timeout for discovery mode... so of course after 1 minute when discovery mode turns off, that icon will go away.

All you have to do is turn off "Discoverable".
Any Bluetooth item you have already paired with will still work, so there is no need to have discoverable on all the time, is there?

Programatically GPS

Hi all,
How to switch on GPS programatically.
Thanks & Regards,
Dinesh
You can't do that other way than opening GPS settings. Security concerns.
Use SwitchPro widget, Luke
Thanks for your reply

Hmm, are you sure it really enable/disable GPS directly? As I said I believe this isn't possible without some hacking, root access, etc. Just tried "GPS on/off" widget from the Market (because SwitchPro is paid app) and it does exactly what I said: it opens locations settings.

I am sure, becaus I'm using this widget. Older versions just opened GPS settings, but latest one v1.6 turns GPS on/off directly.

Yes it does, doesn't appear to be using root either. It's possible it could be using an exploit though?

Maybe it requires root? Or some custom ROM? Unfortunately it's paid app and I won't pay for it just to check, how it works. I don't think it uses "clean" way to accomplish that.
Ok, it uses Power Control widget to set GPS status. This widget is a system app, so it has superpowers (can enable/disable GPS directly) and SwitchPro let him think, that someone has clicked on GPS button.
Of course this widget isn't in official Android API, it isn't integral part of Android system, so this may not work on some devices, some ROMs, may also break totally in the future. You could use same technique, but you shouldn't.
EDIT:
Ahh and seems this widget is a huge security hole. This should be fixed, I will create an issue in Android issue tracker, if there isn't one.

Ok, this is already in their issue tracker:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=7890
Thought as much, the dev should really go back to the 'official' way IMO.
Is there still a way to do this ? Because on the issue tracker page they said it was already "fixed" (that means broken to me ).

No. It's a feature, not a bug.
Feature of what ? Do you mean the android power management widget ?
If it's a feature, than it should still be possible to turn on GPS through it.

It's safety concern. Google didn't give you a possibility to switch GPS purposely and only one reason, why you could do it, was that they made some security hole. Now they have fixed it, so you won't be able to switch GPS - at least without another bug ;-)
Hi androiest
How can google map start gps without going throught the settings activity ??

Apps / power control widgets to switch between 2G/"4G" ?

Hello everyone, this is the first phone that I am using with data (yup, i've been using smartphones without a data plan). so I was wondering what "power control" widgets or shortcuts out there that could switch between 2G and 4G with just 1 click. The reason I wanna do this is that 2G saves battery while I'm not using the phone.
If I am not wrong, most of the power control widgets only "take" you to the setting page and you have to manually check the "use 2G only" box. But then I've also heard of some power control widgets do APN renaming of some sort.. no idea how that works.
in short: Please suggest a widget program that could switch between 2G/"4G" with just 1 click AND that program doesnt drain battery
thank you
I like Switch Pro. Not only does it have this switch but it has about 12 others all in one widget. You can also customize it color wise.
2G 3G OnOff by CurveFish toggles between 2G and 4G on my phone with the widget (no sending to setup screen). Don't be fooled by the name though, mine goes from 2 - 4 and back.

Whoops! Sorry, it does send you to the setup screen. I was thinking of another app I have that shuts the network off without going to the setup screen.
Sorry for the confusion!

I use SuperPower with Sidekick installed. Works great to switch with one button press, or automatically after a certain amount of idle time and/or battery level, etc ... Great power management app in general.

I use it all the time. Just one click. It also has just one click to turn data completely off. I think switch pro is the best option because you can get 8 widgets in one row.
Hmmm..
I believe that Elixir has that and there widget takes literally no power, and it can display everything including the 3g/2g switch.

4g switch on the app isnt either working or its grayed out. Not sure if its cause im using leaked GB or not but its the same for my Power Control widgets.
Still looking for the 2g/4g toggle widget and have yet to find it?
Switch Network Type 2G/3G from SoftXPerience.
It stays invisibly in the notifications drop-down screen and takes me to the settings page in a single click.
It's a simple, instant shortcut I've found more accessible than a widget.

SuperPower, requires root and a patch but it will automatically swap between 2G/4G (listed as 3G in the app). You set conditions for the switch, or if you want to do it manually you can do it from the notification bar or with a shortcut on your desktop. So far it's the only app I've found that doesn't just take you to the settings screen.
try toggle data. It's a simple one-click widget. Works perfectly on the g2x.

Hi Erislover:
How exactly do you set up the APN's to make sure MMS works. Can you by any change provide step by step instructions?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure on that. You could always just check the box to keep it enabled, hit the toggle so data is off, and then have a friend send you an MMS to see what happens. If it works, try to access a webpage to make sure data truly is off. If you can get the MMS and the web isn't working (and 4g isn't showing), you should be saving juice while still getting MMS's.
I'm super ignorant when it comes to APN's...not messing with the nightlies for just that reason!

Any way to get auto-rotate and wifi in the taskbar?

I would love an option to quickly enable and disable auto-rotate and wifi by just swiping down the taskbar like I could with my S4. I've been using a screen rotation app that works well enough. In some ways better actually. Would still love to quickly enable and disable wifi though.

[REQ] Mobile Data working

Hej,
I´ve used in the past power toggles to set on/off the mobile date, when I go home/come home.
Now, under 5.0 it´s not working anymore - do you have any solution for that?
Or another app, where I can set a widget and easy put the mobile date on/off?
Thanks!
Same here. I have to manually enable/disable mobile data... I hope someone brings back quick swipe to quicksettings.

BUT is it possible to get access from a widget from screen?
Or is it possible to change the order of the symbols?
I'm glad that I ain't the only one with this problem lol
So they changed something that doesn't allow apps to make this work
The thing is, without power toggles working or changing the order from the buttons in system, it´s really, really incommodious...
