Hi there, i am not sure if anyone has experienced this problem, i tried to install these games ( Xtrat and Experiment 13 ) onto the storage card, but even though i clicked storage card, there were somehow being installed in the main memory of the device. I tried twice already and it is still the same. Any suggestion?
there's file path built-in in the cab...
if the files are hard coded.... I guess the only way is to rebuild the cab file....
that's what i was thinking. The built in memory for HD2 is quite limited. wish there is more....
thanks anyway
I just got a legit sandisk 32gb class 4 off of newegg and before swapping I transferred everything from the external SD folder to my internal, did the swap, formatted in the phone then swapped the contents of my old external SD to the new one. Rebooted a few times but my apps will not load. All my apps are saved to phone or internal SD card as well.
Does anyone know why?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
copying from external to internal would not have copied hidden files.. and many of the apps may have had their own direcdtories on external sd with hidden files..
i always do this is pc by backing up old sd to a directory on the pc (make sure to have view hidden and system files on)
they copy back to a new sd card..
double check what was copied by doing a check disk on the old and new cards and comparing number of files and directories including hidden.. should be the same.
Even if show hidden files was checked off within the phone options itself?

I keep all the .apk files in a seperate folder on my PC ,as I switch phones to the newest thing once or twice a month,I swap my SD card to new phone, then reinstall the programs from the .apk folder using Astro or whatever your choice of software ,the saved files will find the newly installed progs with hidden files and all,you dont even have to reinstall key codes, passwords or nada,If you are a SICK phone Junkie like me,it will save you lots of stress...Vegas
Sorry, is there a way to move this to the Q and A section? my XDA app doesn't show the Q&A area.

Thanks, I will keep this in mind as well.
Here I give a modified vold.fstab for EKEN T02A which swap the internal storage with the external storage. By default in tablet`s firmware the internal storage is devided in two pieces. The first one is 504MB and is only for instaling applications. The second one is 2.59GB called (SD CARD) which contains data information for applications but if you install 2-3-4 gameloft games your 2.59 GB storage gets full and you can`t do anything more. Your External Storage is you real SD card and is called (EXTSD). But the big problem is that you can`t move apps from SD card to EXTSD card. So this is a tweak which swaps the storages and you real SD card became Internal storage and the fake one became external storage and you have a lot of space to install games and etc. This tweak is for EKEN T02A with ICS 4.0.3. But it may works with other tables with the same specifications.
The instalation is very simple:
1. Download the file http://www.mediafire.com/?j0nb38frzefn6c6
2. Copy it to your SD card. It doesn`t matter where.
3. Go to /system/etc and put the downloaded vold.fstab
4. Reboot your system to apply the changes
5. When it boots for a first time with the new file you may have problem (but may not have) that you can`t see the storages and everything is gone. But don`t worry. Go again in this directory /system/etc and there won`t have vold.fstab , it will have vold.fstab.bak . Rename it and just remove the .bak . Reboot again and be happy to have so much space now.
If you stuck at the boot logo of ANDROID you must just reflash your firmware again and post here the problem and we will solve it.
USE THIS TWEAK AT YOUR OWN RISK.

OK dead thread but I'll try.
I have root access and it still blocks me from overwrite.
Hello, is anyone of you use the app GL to SD? Does it do the job for you? In fact, there's some issue. For example, the problem for me is that even the data file is said to be moved in the external sd, there's still a copy of it in the internal storage and when I deleted it and I go back to the GL to SD app to open the game, it doesn't load. Therefore, obviously, the game still relies on the data located in the INTERNAL STORAGE in order for it to operate. That's the problem...

It's Working Perfect but I heard that utility NT working only on cm roms.
First of all, Make sure gl to sd have root access. Second you should use file manager and create a file called data and another one called obb in your ext sd card. It depends on the game some can be placed in data others can be placed in obb.

Maybe you mount the folder and the folder you delete is actually in external sd.
Give me a email is more fast to know.
I have the same issue
I have exactly the same problem. I tried Gl to SD on Real Racing 3 and Mini Motor Racing. The application copy the content of data or obb in my external SD Card but the folder remains in the phone. So instead of saving space I'm using twice as much as each of those games should :/ Pretty serious issue. I don't even know if I can cancel what GL to SD did and come back to normal with data internal only. But I tried to start the games renaming the folder in the phone OR the folder in the externalSD and it does not start. A shame.
If anyone have an idea and may know what I eventually did wrong, thanks in advance for sharing the info !
I checked a bit more and it seems that GL to SD functions fine. When I mount real racing 3 a folder "com.ea.games.r3_row" of 1.39 Gb suddenly "appear" in Android/data. This folder is a perfect "copy" of what's in the ExternalSD. If I unmount the game the folder disappear. But before and after my disk space remains identical.
In other words GL to DS mount an image, making android believe a folder is there. But it is here only virtually. The physical folder is in the External SD. It's the same idea as Daemon Tools on PC. You mount an image .img .iso .nrg in a virtual DVD. You can see the content of a DVD in windows eplorer but you know it is not really there. Daemon and GL to SD force your OS to believe that some files are where they are not in order to make a program start.
Other thing that may sound weird : some big programs appear in GL to SD with 0 kb or a very small size. GL to SD moves only what's inside data or obb folders. If a game have nothing in there then no space can be freed :/ Except by moving the application to SD card if your phone does that (HTC, etc). Samsung doesn't. ... which sucks big time.
I tried dozens of "move to sd" apps from om the store on my Samsung S3 but none work on this phone. GL to SD manage to do something really nice already on rooted device. If someone know an app that moves games/app on External SD for devices that does not allow that please let me know ! Thanks
Just to be sure...
lets say hypothetically you fill your entire phone storage up. will there be no room for the game to mount to phone and therefore it will not work? Does mounting fool the system into thinking its in internal storage? or does it actually move it there temporarily? cause if its the latter it doesnt make any sense cuz youll always need to keep 6GB free for 3 2GB games for example...which kind of defeats the purpose...no? does anyone know for sure for sure sure sure what happens?
I own Lava iris 406q , till some days back i was able to use gl to sd properly and suddenly after updating asphalt 8 to latest version , everything stopped working and now my gl to sd is not able to read external sd card , even though i have full root access , can any1 help here

Foldermount is a better alternative
Or you can use xposed module named OBB to SD(just copy obb folder of your game to sd card/android/obb)
Can anybody tell me that (unmount timeout error) in gl to sd card, how to fix it? i am using Samsung galaxy j7 and my phone is rooted but still there's an error i want to make some free space by game moving games into sd card or tell another app like this plz
my anroid is samsung j7 2015 and it has root access with a custom rom .when i open gl to sd app on my device then it autoclose and shows that cannot found microsd ,pls insert then try again..but i already have a sd card on my anroid of 8 gb ....sO pls help me what should i do.
thXx for advanCe
Good evening ..
You will probably think that I'm a real newb and it's maybe the case....
In fact the problem is simple (I guess) ..
I have detected that some files (cache or whatever) are shared between the internal memory and the SD card.
So I wanted to do a clean up of both memories ... and finally I didn't do it for the simple reason that I want to avoid the fact to install all apps again...
My question is : What should I have to do in order to perform this clean up ?
I have one remark linked to Android ... why the conceptor didn't think to that issue ? I mean that it could be easy to create :
- A folder with all APPS.
- 2 extra folders (one on the SD and one on the internal storage) containing all the temporary files / data required for the app to work.
- 2 extra folders (one on the SD and one on the internal storage) containing an hystory of the apps that have been installed. Like this when you decide to remove a apps, all temporary files are deleted at the same moment. (currently I have some apps that have been deinstalled but there are some folders that remain on the SD or the internal memory....
.... I stopped there but I guess you understand my remarks ... or you can fire me because I'm totally wrong lol
in all cases thank you for your help.
Kind regards,
Scarymover.
This is the exact type of app I want/ trying to create.
