i am interested in what is a default installer of any new applications on my HTC as i would like to install Opera and HTC does not recognize the instalation file. Its ask me about some application associated with Opera_Mobile_9.5_beta first to run. I had the same issues with *.jad files
before. Instalation file is downloaded to my PDA.

heres a silly newb question, i downloaded the TCPMP but have no idea at all of how to get this or any app working, please help, I have copied into the program files directory on hd2 and get nothing happening when opening setup, what am i doing wrong.

if it's a cab file don't open it just transfer it to the pda and run it
if it's an exe file then most likely it's an windows install program which should be run on the pc and then it use activesync to transfer the cab file inside it to the pda and then it runs it

I've come across some CAB files that when launched in WM, will immediately start installing the application to device memory. I've had a look at those CAB files in WinCE CAB Manager and tried comparing them to regular CAB files but cannot find any difference which would enable one CAB file to automatically start installing to device memory.
Any ideas?

I just recently upgraded to rom 3.14
I installed Resco explorer v 8.00 thru the file rescoexplorer.v.8.00.mui.cbd.cab
but when i try to install any other cab files like it give the options
a) open with
b) open
c) wceload
when i click open it shows details of last programme installed
but when i keep tapping incessantly it works and installs , why
why ??

I use HTC HD mini, windows mobile 6.5 professional
Every time i try to install a cab file, it opens as an internet browser with codes in it, at first i thought that's the cab file is corrupted but i tried with so many others, they all appear as an internet browser, i tried to install sdkcerts.cab but it also appears as a browser, i couldn't install any cab files either by copying and pasting it in the device or by using CAB via ActiveSync1.5
any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi too all i am trying to root my alcatel ot 985 and i need to install some usb_host_driver, when i came in at that folder i have win64/32, later WNET/VISTA, and later IA64/AMD64 and later qcusbser.cat and qcusbser.sys have a readme too, i need to install that for continuing process of rooting, so please somehow help me guys. Usually to install a driver there have to be an *.inf file in a folder.
So, maybe the file is placed somewhere in a superior folder.
Using windos 7 you just have to highlight the top folder and let Windows search the file itself.
Using XP you have to search the file yourself.
Worst case is, that there is no such file.
This means you have to download something lice a sync-software from alcatel homepage and install the whole package, because the driver is inclueded there. Just like the HTC Sync package, which contains the drivers for HTC smartphones
