Hello,
Is there an option to restore all your data( sms, contact, ... ) and settings ( wifi, apn's, language, ... ) when you flash a new rom?
I'm tired to enter after each flash all the passwords for wifi and the settings for apn etc. Someone has a solution for me?

Try "Backup for Root Users" and by the way: This topic doesn't belong into this section.
Greets
Try this...
Try RA recovery img (best so far for magic)... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492
Then boot it and select nandroid backup... it will save the backup in your sdcard under nandroid folder... when you want to restore only have to boot the recovery img again or if you flashed it boot into recovery mode by pressing home + power button and select nandroid restore... it will put back firmware, settings, apps and apps settings, etc...

I don't know if this how to would have some value here or not, but I wrote this for those of you that are rooted with Unrevoked 3.1 and want to flash a custom ROM or upgrade to a rooted version of froyo thats out there.
Step ONE
The first thing to do is to download and install Titanium Backup from the market, and backup all of your apps and user data.
Once this is done, shut your phone off.
STEP TWO
Press and hold your volume up button. then press and release your power key while continuing to hold your volume up button.
Your phone will boot into a white background menu that has green text at the top, followed by FASTBOOT highlighted in red, followed by text in orange, then 4 options. You can release your volume up key once this menu is up.
Your 4 options are:
bootloader
reboot
reboot bootloader
power down
you want to scroll thru the options and make sure bootloader is highlighted.
Press your power button once.
then menu options will change to:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB
Your phone will appear to be nonresponsive for a moment, and you will see some green text flash across below where this menu is. This is normal as the software reads your SD card.
Once you can scroll thru the menu's with your volume up & down keys you want to highlight RECOVERY and press the power button once
you will see the HTC EVO 4G menu for a moment.
Then a menu will pop up that says "clockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1" (or whatever version is on your phone)
your menu options will be:
- reboot system now
- apply SD card:update.zip
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- install zip from sdcard
- nandroid
- partitions menu
- advanced
- ++++go back++++
scroll down and highlight "nandroid" and select it with the power button.
The next menu will have 4 options:
Backup
Restore
Advanced Restore
++++Go Back++++
select "backup"
Your screen will change to a picture of a box with an arrow and an android you will see text over top of that showing that it is backing up your phone and current ROM.
While your phone is doing this, (this will take several minutes) select a download the custom ROM you want to flash onto your phone.
If you're upgrading to a ROM that also has new radio and wimax updates (most of the 2.2 froyo ROMs will have these) download those to your desktop along with the custom ROM you want to flash.
STEP THREE
Once the backup is done on your phone, it will return to the ClockwordMod menu.
select "reboot system now" and hit the power key. Your phone should reboot back into the normal home screen.
once this is done, connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable, and make sure you select "disk drive" so you can move files to your SD card.
move the custom ROM (plus any radio or wimax updates if applicable) to your SD card. There is no need to rename them.
Reboot your phone into the ClockworkMod recovery as detailed above in step two.
STEP FOUR
Once you're back into the clockwordMod menu you want to select "install zip from SD card"
it will show you all the files and directories on your SD card. scroll down and select the file name of the custom ROM you want to flash and select it.
The phone will now begin to install and flash the custom ROM you want. It will take a bit. The best thing to do is PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN and take a deep breath. You may need to reboot your phone after all is said and done. You will know when it is done flashing the custom ROM. I cannot recall if it rebooted automatically or not, so please forgive me.
STEP FIVE
***This will only apply to you if you need to flash a radio and/or wimax update as part of your ROM. This typically will only apply to froyo upgrades.***
Once you've booted into your new ROM that you've flashed, you need to shut your phone down, and reboot into the ClockwordMod Recovery Menu as detailed above. You go through the same process as you did in step four to flash your ROM, except this time, instead of selecting the file name of the zipped ROM, you select first the Radio update zip, let it flash, then reboot into your home screen.
Then, shut your phone down, reboot into the clockworkMod recovery, repeat the process for your wimax update. Reboot the phone when it is done.
STEP SIX
Once you've flashed your ROM, the radio, and the Wimax update (if applicable) then you find and open the android market, download titanium backup, and restore all your user data and applications.
You may need to reboot your phone a few times before everything works properly. If your user settings arent there, dont panic!!!
It took a few reboots before all of my settings and such returned to normal.
If you have an application that is still not working right, then uninstall and reinstall it.
To get the wireless tether working again, you can search on google code for wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre7.apk and that will allow your wireless tether to work again.
Hey, I followed these instructions, but once back in the new rom Titanium Backup seems to say there is nothing backed up.
What if my phone doesn't go to the second screen in Bootloader, where it is parsing from my sd card and it gives me the option of updating instead? I say no to update and reboot then I get the screen with recovery, press that and I get a screen with a red triange and an exclamation. Further I press, the volume down button and power button and get to the screen you're talking about but it switches with in 2 seconds to a reboot, and I have to try and start the failed process again. Am I missing something?

OK, even though this will prove what an idiot I am, I see that I did miss the very first step of backing up all my data with Titanium within Android. I thought the nandroid step did this. Doh! At least I know everything works. I was actually thinking about doing a fresh install in the first place because Best Buy actually took the liberty of setting up my phone initially and I didn't necessarily agree with all the crap they put on there. I do hate losing all my SMS history because how else can I shove all the stupid things my friends say back in their faces?
The Issue...
So I think I've solved what may be going on with my Evo... Since the update of 2.2 came over the air waves (at the time I knew nothing about Flashing) I had installed it. All the files I attempt to help root are all out of date, and without backing up, I am without a recovery image... My guess is that I'm screwed :/
My phone data on the bootloader screen is:
HBOOT-0.93.0000
MICROP-041f
RADIO-2.15.00.07.28
When I look at other files, they are from all earlier builds... Guess I'll have to find away to exchange this one out.
Too bad there isn't away to back step the phone... Or is there?
what happens if you dont wipe first?
Couldn't this be simplified to:
Root with Unrevoked 3.1
Backup with Titanium backup
Flash Unrevoked Forever in custom recovery from Unrevoked 3.1
Flash ENG hboot
Flash new radios (if you hadn't done before)
Flash rooted 2.2 ROM or a rooted PC36IMG.zip
To anyone that can help, i am currently running infused with the community kernel and UCLB3 modem. I am also using an external sd card for my pictures, etc. Right now i am trying to flash zeus, but the second reboot or the second I put my external sd card in causes the market and some of the other apps to disappear. I have tried numerous things and the only thing i havent done is the nandroid backup. If this is my problem, how do i do this? And if its not, what do i need to do? Thank you everyone
1. It sounds like it might be the google apps that disappear? If it is, and if you have ROM manager on the phone, go and download the google apps from ROM manager (download roms > scroll down until you find google apps, or gapps)
2. To do a nandroid backup, shut down the phone and power up into recovery (hold both volume buttons + power button until samsung logo appears). Use the volume keys to toggle down to "backup and restore". then select backup with the power button and choose yes (the people at CWM are trolls and put a bunch of "no's" and "this cannot be done". ignore those). should take about 5-10 minutes.
I hope this helped.

Thanks for the help, i finally got everything to work. In your opinion is nandroid backup and restore the best option? i have been one to use titanium backup a lot
titanium backup is gud
it wll wrk fr ya
Nandroid backup is a MUST for entire roms. I just flashed the infused from from Zeus total reign.....don't like it. Luckily I did a backup so I can go straight back to how it was before I flashed it and wiped my phone clean.
Titanium backup is mainly for apps, like games or whatever. But never restore everything from TB. Some stuff isn't compatible with all roms and it could send you into bootloops.

My GT7+ has the LB2 firmware. I have not seen any copy of this firmware for downloading. Therefore I have been cautious and stick with the stock kernel and FW.
I installed garyd9's CWM and made nandroid backup. I want to try garyd9's custom kernel, but I read the warning on his post about compatibility with some firmwares.
I wonder if I flash his custom kernel and it fails, can I revert back to my stock kernel through nandroid restore?
Thanks.
Nandroid backup is a complete backup of your phone. When we say complete, it means everything on your phone – your apps, data, your current ROM and even the kernel. It is like creating a full system image of your phone that can be restored later, when required. - Restore from a Nandroid Backup via Recovery:
1. The first two steps are same as above. Boot into Recovery and navigate to the Nandroid screen.
2. Select ‘Restore’ to start the process. If you choose the ‘Advanced Restore’ option, you can select which component of the backup to restore – like the boot, system, data or cache. 3. Reboot system. Your system is now restored and is exactly same as the time when the backup was taken.-- Backup and Restore Using ROM Manager:
If you think the above process was easy, backup and restore through ROM Manager is even easier. ROM Manager automates the whole of the above process giving you the option to do these operations with a single touch. Just choose ‘Backup Current ROM’, enter a name for the backup and the phone reboots to start the backup process. There, your backup is complete. To restore, launch the app and select ‘Manage and Restore Backups’. Select the backup that you want restored and ROM Manager will do the rest.
You can delete or rename the backups as well.
Thanks for the reply. Now I feel more comfortable and adventurous.
BTW, I see that there is no copy of the official Samsung LB2 firmware floating around. I do not know how to make a tar file for the firmware / ROM, but would anyone be interested in a nandroid copy of the LB2? I can reset the tablet, go to CWM to save a nandroid copy of the default firmware, then restore my own running copy.

Titanium Backup
Another option for rooted Android
users is Titanium Backup.
Titanium Backup gives you direct
access to your system. If you have
not used this program before
make sure to read all release notes
and methods of using the program
as mistakes can be made....
Once you’ve launched the app,
click on the Backup/Restore tab
and click the Menu button on your
phone. From the menu that
appears, select Batch. At the next
menu, click [RUN] Backup all user
apps + system data. You can
choose to backup just your user
apps and system data but you can
choose a complete and total
backup of your phone.
Depending on how much of your
phone you’ve chosen to back up,
the initial backing up process can
take anywhere from a few minutes
to half an hour or even more. Just
like a Nandroid backup, you can
opt to copy the backup file to your
computer. Navigate to the /
Titanium Backup directory on your
device’s SD card and you can find
your backup there, ready for
safekeeping.
When you’d like to restore your
backup, you can enjoy the same
Batch function. Select Menu >
Batch. On the Backup/Restore
menu, scroll down to find restore
options.

Hello everyone,
it's a long time I don't do this and I wanted to make sure I do the correct steps.
I would like to try a custom ROM but I want to make sure I can go back to my rooted custom ROM if I want to.
Can you remind me what are the correct steps to do for a nandroid backup so that I can restore the previous ROM please?
I see many guides here, but still unsure if I do it right.
I use TWRP recovery.
Trying to reply by myself, hopefully someone will confirm eventually.
Reboot to TWRP recovery and select micro SD as save location.
Select the following for the backup:
- System image
- Boot
- Data
Chose the name for the backup and swipe right to backup.
The backup will be stored at TWRP -> Backups -> Serial Number -> Backup Folder
Is that correct?
This way I should be able to go back to stock anytime after flashing any ROM I want.
Yes, but you need delete pins, unlock password, fingerprints and etc before backup!
