As you can see in the picture attached, the X button (that's the X button that comes when you install wktask) is so big that overrides my battery icon (or the clock icon if have this instead of the battery).
1) First, under wktask settings, you can choose not to use a skin for the X button, which sthetically is great, because i like the default icon (i'm using NRG ROM 3.0 'Magic' BTW...).
But if i use this option, i loose the functionality of wktask... for example if i close an application tapping the x button, wktask close TWO application instead of ONLY the one i wanted.
2) If i use the wktask X button i have the awesome functionality that the app has, but i 've this sthetical issue that i'm asking now...
3) So, does anyone know, how to get the X button smaller or have wktask functionality with the standard X button that comes with the ROM?
Thanks!! (i've googled the problem several times, looked the author's site, etc...)
SOLUTION --> i started to change the parameters under "General 1" tab and the UNchecked the "use a skin file for X/OK buttons". After thar, i soft reset my phone.
Now i have the custom X button that comes with NRG rom and the functionality of wktask...
I dont know why, but before this, when i pressed the X button, sometimes wktask closed two app instead of ONLY the one i wanted.

since that's a sizing issue, i don't think there's anything you can about it. last i checked, theres no way to move the taskbar icons around.
So perhaps there is a way to make wktask work properly with the original X button from the ROM.
It's a bit strange... so... the "skin" is not only a skin... it does something more...
I should try reinstalling wktask... i didnt do it before cause i have my icons set up in the wktaskLauncher...
Thx for the answer!

Is there a registry tweak, binary-file edit, or whatever to make the Esmertec JBed Midlet Manager use the full height of the screen? On my phone, a Verizon SMT5800, Esmertec JBed uses the full width of the screen, but only about 90% of the full height. So, a little of whatever is behind shows at the bottom. If I slide out the keyboard so that the screen goes into landscape mode, the unfilled space is at the "new bottom" of the screen, i.e., just above the keyboard. One of the consequences of this is that, if you display a menu, the bottom-most menu item is not visible. I suspect that this is because the program is trying to allow room for a taskbar at the bottom. However, a non-touchscreen device such as my phone doesn't have a taskbar, and the API call that displays menus apparently assumes that the calling application is running full-screen, resulting in the bottom menu item not being visible.

good question, someone can answer it?
What version are you using and do you have same issue with the applications you use??
Esmertec JBed Build ID 20070802.2.1, according to the About screen. I just noticed another oddity: the About command (menu item 7) won't respond to clicking 7. I have to move down, using the D-Pad, and click directly on the About menu item. The other menu items respond to my clicking on the corresponding number.

See 'Manager" at bottom and Time etc at top.
I am trying to find the version I used to use that did not have this problem.
Maybe we can compare registry settings between these versions for somethings to try
(if it did not involve guess work it would not be called Hacking!)

Hi all,
I recently got my HTC Touch HD and I needed some help to do with Task Switching.
I've noticed that when I've got more then one application open, it's a long
process switching from one to the other.
Is there any application that can make doing this easier. I'm not particularly
after freeware, I'm just after the best/efficient application that can do this so I don't mind paying for any applications.
I've seen Task Facade here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420220
But it seems buggy from what I've read.
If there's an application that can imitate what CTRL+TAB does on a PC, that
would be even better LOL.
Thanks
I think wktask is the best option: http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html
It's super quick switching between apps, works like on your PC.
Cheers for the reply owziee
WkTask seems like a really good solution and it makes Windows Mobile feel
much more like the desktop version of Windows OS's.
The thing I'm not too keen on is how it has the name of the application
next to the icon in the taskbar. It's taking up all that space for no reason.
If I have loads of applications open, I think it'll end up looking quite ugly.
Also, I don't really need the Launcher part of the application, is there an
option to turn it off?
Other than that, this is probably the best Task Switcher I've seen so far
running on Windows Mobile.
Any other suggestions people
Thanks once again owziee

Is there anyway to get rid of the names next to the applications in the taskbar?
Also can all the other features be turned off cos I don't think I'll be using them
much. Thanks for all your help.

If you change the display to "Icon" mode (out of the choices: Mixed/PC/Icon) that should do the trick. I think it may still show the text next to the active task but only that.
People, Please STOP ANSWERING QUESTIONS IN THE DEV&HACK FORUM
Sorry, I hadn't realised I posted this thread in the wrong section
Anyway's has anyone tried Quickmenu?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340358
I'm not sure whether this is also a task switcher because it seems to only
have the exit icon next to open programs in the screenshots so I'm not sure
how you would switch from application to application using this application.
i'm using Pocket Plus (SPB) It has a task switch option as well. A little pop-up window showing active applications. I have it set up to be activated with a hardware button.
bell ui taskbar menu is working awesome for me for switching tasks
I have the same problem - every task switcher I've ever used either has tiny menus that aren't a good fit for a mobile platform (WkTask, QuickMenu), or are really slow (Task Facade). The best I've found in terms of compromise between the two are FDCSoft's TaskSwitcher, and the task manager built into MortButtons. TaskSwitcher is uglier but faster, MortButtons is prettier but slower.
Anyone know if there is a way to do this with stock app?
When i hit phone, it is annoying to always be on the dialer screen. Yes, I can speed dial a couple contacts, but I have a favorites list of 20 or so, and I would like to land there first.
Any ideas other then an alternate launcher? Would an alternate launcher even do this?
That was a nice feature of the iPhone. 99% of the time I am calling 1 of the people on my favorites list as well, this would be nice if it was possible.
I do not know if it is or not.
Would also appreciate this setting.
A work around that might be useful:
From your home screen find a screen that is fairly empty and long press like you are adding a widget. Select "Shortcuts" then select "Direct Dial" Choose someone from your contacts list. You now have a direct dial shortcut to that contact on your screen.

I actually did that. I even made my own icon that matched the Launcher Pro icons and added it to my dock. It direct dials my best friend.

Not a bad idea but not really a solution/work around for a shortcut to your top 10-20+ favorites.
I agree - not a good solution if you have many on a fav list. For a 2 or 3 I just use speed dial from the dialer.
Has anyone tried Dialer One?
(from the thread looking for an alternate dialer) I'm too new they don't trust me with linking to it.
Another possible alternative is to add a Folder Widget end select "Starred Contacts" from the list.

What app do you use to grab a screen shot?
Regarding Screen Cap:
If you are rooted there is a market app. Another way is to use the ddms.bat tool that is in the SDK - it launches the Dalvik Debug Monitor on your computer and this can do a screen cap (Menu - Device - Screen Cap)

no app when I took that. It was using the android sdk to do it. Guide on how to do it is found here: http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/07/21/how-to-take-screenshots-of-your-android-based-phone-from-windows/
Launcher Pro ( the paid version ) also has a favorites widget that will let you configure either full screen or 1x4.
Why not just use dialer one? You can do exactly this with dialer one + you can do so much more, like custom backgrounds and change all the text colors etc.
I just added the folder of starred contacts. Really nice, actually.
it´s similar to arto start menu replacement, but ONLY for HTC SENSE ROMs.
- Gain 10 MB free RAM back!
- adjust to TG01 device
- nice icons
- i different to e.g. MMApplauncher (it use 3 MB RAM) use this MenuReplacement 800 kb
- AND the best: in SENSE you can make as QuickLink! e.g. Remove programms
+ it remove the start + ok/cancel bubble. for ok or close use ARROW hardware button= is perfect with
MailaPhoneDailer (no button overlap)
to bring back ok/close button go in registry (i use total commander)
HKLM\software\microsoft\shell\bubletiles\HardwareDo neKeEnabled set 1
- it contain the most settings in bottom of startMenu:
About phone
Backlight&power settings
Bluetooth settings
GPS settings
Input settings
Master clean
Memory info
Motsensor (toshi)
Phone settings
Regional settings
Remove programms

Hi Miro,
I see you have removed the start button here as well.
Does this mean it's not possible to access 'all programs' once anyone installs this?
Or is it possible to put a quicklink to this menureplacement itself?
I have multiple launcher setup, but everytime if I press the home button, this menu will come up. And if I check the box "use by default for this action". It will stay there permanently.
My question is once I pick one and check the box. A week later if I want to choose a different one how do I get this menu back? I don't see anywhere to bring it up.

Yes, you can do this each time. And remember how you did since there will be many apps that ask to be the default for certain activities that you may want to change from time to time (like when you get a new app for that task).
But the best way I've seen specifically for Launchers is an app called "Home Switcher". When you use it the app displays all the launchers installed, including the Samsung one, and tells you which is the default. There are buttons next to each selection to clear the default and to launch a new one. I believe it's still free.
Hope this helps!
wow great, I will give it a try.
It seems work great. But when I press the home button, it will go back to the other one. Even though I setup a new default home screen. Home button will go back lol. It will not stay on the new default home screen.

- If you selected TWLauncher you can change the default page through 'Menu button/Edit'
- If you selected Launcher you cannot change this. It is set to the middle page.
