Burn ROM directly from SSD? - Advantage X7510 General

Howdy folks,
As a total noob, I am trying to get up the nerve to burn one of the ROMs offered in this wonderful forum to my 7510 -- I am sick and tired of all the slowdowns and soft resets with the stock ROM.
It was suggested to me that rather than using the usual path of connecting the 7510 to the desktop via Active$ync and using RUU, I could copy the *.nbh file to the SSD and give it a special name that the HardSPL would recognize. This idea came from this post, which is about a 7500.
The supposed advantages:
1) faster
2) more reliable -- with the usual method, if the desktop crashes or you have a power outage during a burn, you brick your device -- this way, you have battery power keeping it alive during the burn.
Three questions:
1) will this work on the 7510?
2) what is the name that I must give the file so that it will be recognized?
3) is there any disadvantage to doing it this way?
TIA
-avi

Struck by an MDA brick!!

Made a huge error.....didnt go through forums and read instructions before trying to Flash a German T-Mobile MDA Compact to a English ROM....
The device is completely dead....
Followed all the steps required to get it back up...It is refusing to do so though....
Used this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=19500
One thing to note is that I am not using the AC charger, am using the USB cable to charge the phone.
Can someone please helpme...
Haven't got past the bootloader mode...
If you followed the instructions from the other thread, it should have started flashing.
Some things to check on:
1) Did you do a full d2s before you attempted the upgrade? It's always good to have something to fall back on.
2) If you can get to a bootloader screen, all is definitely not lost.
3) Sometimes, it takes 4 or 5 minutes for the "Press to flash" comes up on the screen so be patient with that.
4) Make sure you did exactly a 416 byte copy from the original rom file in to the new flash file.
5) You can only write an nb1 file from the pc AFTER it has been created from the pocket pc. If the SD card has been pc formatted, the nb1 file will write to it but the pocket pc won't recognize it and will just sit there at the bootloader screen.
HTH
I think I fired the MDA
Well I did not create the nbf file from the ppc, downloaded it from the the forum FTP. I do not have the backup of the nbf file. As I mentioned I did not read the forums before trying the update.
I just downloaded the T-Mobile ROM update and tried installing it. Obivousioly it didn't work, Game the dreaded the 112 error in the 3rd step.
Am not even getting the bootlader screen now..
Any ideas on how I can get this device up and running.?...
ok, need some clarification here. "What" are you trying to load (nbf files or nb1 files) and how are you trying to load them (SD flash or the standard USB based upgrade)?
Easy enough to check to see if your device can still get to bootload mode....hold the camera and power switches in at the same time and hit soft reset with your stylus. After letting go of those and you see either "Serial" or "USB" at the top of the screen, you should still be able to recover from this.
Tried with the nb1 files not nbf (sorry abt teh error)..
The bootloader screen was showing up ...unitll I tried the T-Mobile MDAcompact_vers11201
After the 112 error while updating...the device now refusing to get to the bootloader mode.
Have I fried the device and made it unusable....?
hey just got back the bootloader screen...
Take the SD card out, disconnect the USB and tell me what happens when you hold the power and camera buttons in at the same time, then hit the soft reset.
Also, has the unit been charged recently?
Its showing Serial v1.00...after the reset.
Its been on the USB chatge all along.....
Great. If you get Serial at the top, this can be recovered.
If you want a good T-Mobile 1.12 rom file, go here and use this one:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Magician/tmobile-uk_wwe_ROM_1.12.00(thereapermanl).rar
Unpack it and follow all the procedures about copying the 416 bytes, rewriting the file, etc. from the other thread. I have tested this rom file and it installs ok.
Thanks for the encouraging words...
Will it work even if I do not have a backup of the original ROM on my machine?....I only have the tmobile.nb1 file which I got from the XDA forums.
Lemme try using that and editing it.
Thanks a ton for your help.
You might be a little stuck for an nb1 flash if you don't have an original flash back up but don't fear. You can go here and get this WWE1.12 file and just do a USB type upgrade:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Magician/Shipped_ROMS/WWE_11200_128_11210_ship.exe
I know this one works too. It's ROM 1.12, Radio 1.12 and Ext_ROM 1.12. When you try to run the upgrade program though, it might give you a Country ID error. If so, use the attached upgrade program instead. If this one gives you a Country ID error again, close the program and just run it again. I've been down all these roads already.
Lemme get this right this time: I will be doing the following
1. Install the ROM as you have mentioned. With the country id hack if necessary
2. Hopefully by now the device would be alive. If so will take a backup of the ROM on the SD card
3. From then on follow the instruction given in the doc.
Hope I get it righ this time else Its going to be a long night for me.
Lemme know if I have to do anything else.
Either ROM will work fine for you. It just depends on whether or not you want I-Mate stuff on it or T-Mobile stuff on it.
Doing the USB upgrade will put the I-Mate ROM on but after that, it should be working and you can then do an SD backup, follow the SD flashing procedures and get the T-Mobile ROM on.
Good Luck!
The masupgrateut is throwing up a ruu.dll error?...you seen that one before?
What sort of error? Not found?
yup...
I extracted the ROM exe and found teh file...copied it to the windows folder..and ran the no id program...no error this time round but the update is still giving a COuntry ID error...
Been looking at various posts...specially this one...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14973
Thinks thats gonna help?
ok...two things.....just run it again. The no ID program sometimes does that on the first time 'round so just run it again.
Second, stick this at the end of the RUU.conf file:
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
ran the program multiple times...still getting the COuntry ID error...
Are you running this program? MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
...with the change in the RUU.conf file?
I just noticed something....did you extract all the files to a single directory and just run it from there or did you just pull a few out?
ALL the files have to be in the same directory. This is also where you need to execute the installer program.

I just know I will get a lot of **** for this question. Before you judge me, remember where you guys were some time ago. And yes I did read the viki....
A bit confused about how to install a rom. For example I plan to install Dutty's Dual Touch 1.1. I did install Hard SPL.
What is the procedure to install a rom?
Thanks,

Assuming you're on WinXP, the procedure is as follows. (If you run Vista, do this before you proceed.)
Install the HardSPL properly on your device (you did this).
All that is left to do now is:
a. Download the ROM of your choice (in your case Dutty's Dual Touch 1.1)
b. On your PC, unzip dutty's file to e.g. desktop (there should be two files now, Kaiser_RUU.exe and RUU_Signed.nbh. Both files should be in the same folder.)
c. Connect your Kaiser to your PC via USB (make sure the Kaiser's battery is adequately charged up)
d. Launch Kaiser_RUU.exe and follow instructions on your PC screen
Do not mess with the device, USB cable, computer, toaster (and other kitchen appliances), TV OR girlfriend till the upgrade is completely done!
Good luck, and I'm not liable for anything that may happen to your device by following what I wrote here (except if it's positive...then all credit goes to the good guys developing these great ROMs for us!)
Regards,
H.

Actualy you should first understand that even if your Trëo is compatible with wm6.1 you must be sure that it is compatible with the rom that you are trying to install,
Next you should try to download the rom again so you can be sure that the rom you are trying to load is not corrupted...
and if all this is done you will probably need to try out the USBcable install mode!
Realy hope that you can solve your problem
[[]]
ROM, is the third different source (same version) to ensure no corruption.
USBcable install mode, can you provide any further details?

strange that you can't install that, it's usually very simple and fast...
let me see if I understand, you are saying that you are trying to install the file when it is connected to your computer but the "cheeming" is on the SD card?!
If that's what you are doing just unplug the USB cable, you can't sync and use your SD at the same time... Just use the POWER cable and repeat all the process...
If that doesn't work for you, you should create a folder on your computer desktop and copy the "cheeming" to that folder, next copy whatever program you have used to change the SPL to that same folder.
Make a backup of the original files from your mobile, I hope you wont need them, but you should backup anyway...
then run the program and "cross your fingers"...
in about 5 or less minutes it should be done, and your treo should be runing your new WM6.1
This is the "risky" way, because you can "brick" your Treo, and I can assure you that it isn't easy to "unbrick"!
Hope you can do it with the SDcard method.
If I can help in any other way, please post or add on msn.

how i flash with usb
couple things to do. download a kaiser custom ruu. unrar or unzip your new rom you want to flash. best to have seperate folder to do this. rename the rom file to RUU_signed.nbh then run the kaiser ruu and follow the steps. very simple to do. make sure active sync is enabled before doing this.

Pola 100 NAND Mode
NAND MODE for POLA 100.
Android OS: Incubus26Jc_'s Super FroYo RLS16 All Languages+updates EVERYTHING WORKING
What you need:
1) Hardspl (Search at this forum)
2) Androidinstall www.megaupload.com/?d=3W2OPLGU
3) Androidupdate www.megaupload.com/?d=ZTUL41GA
4) installation file www.megaupload.com/?d=IPPL94CD
5) Image file www.megaupload.com/?d=H4C1TN3Q
6) Update www.megaupload.com/?d=OR6S26PF
7) Radio Rom www.rapidspread.com/file.jsp?id=gaskogesur
The image file was downladed via Atools from Sourceforge and modified with Atools to work on Polaris.
Kernel version 2.6.32 Release Date 1-16-11
None of these is my work, i just got them together for an easy access
For anyone who doesnt know, i need to remind you that NAND MODE erases all of your phone's
data!!!! And it shouldnt be attempted by anyone who doesnt know atleast how to get his phone
to the previous state. Any damage caused by your ignorance on the subject is not my fault!!!!
Now that we have clarified that lets move one to a simple guide through.
1) Install Hardspl. If you dont have it, you CANT proceed but i guess most of you have it already
2) Preferably format your SD card and then create a folder in it named: andboot
3) Put inside the folder all the files except of the Image file and the update file.
And cause i am sure someone will get confused here, inside the folder there should be:
androidinstall, androidupdate, install-seq.sh
4) copy on the root of your SD the image file.
5) Open your phone and enter the bootloader (hold down camera button and press soft reset until you see it),
follow the instructions and soft reset at the end!
6) Wait, wait, wait, eventually the android will boot.
7) The tricky part! This build needs an update in order to work properly, if you dont apply it
the phone will work fine until you install any programm, then it will crash and will need a fresh flash.
8) Power off your phone, put in the andboot folder (SD card) the update file (no6 on the list).
9) Open your phone, and hold volume up, this will get you to the boot menu. Choose update!
10) Voila!!! Have fun again!!!!
First, there is already a thread like this
Second, if you link zImage, nbh, atools or other things already present in sourceforge or massey server link to them.
Third write the kernel version, kernel release data
"6) Wait, wait, wait"
How long have to wait +/-?

If you see the booting image, wich is a green thingy spinning,
you have to wait about 5+/- mins.
If you dont get there, pm me the problem and i will try to solve it for you.
After i did the soft reset, appeared that screen and the stops.

1st) its too blurry to understand what it says
2nd) a wild guess, but do you have Pola100?
cause from what i can see, the penguin doesnt have the color he should have
Yes, its a Pola100. LOL
Try now: http://i56.tinypic.com/1y3ebt.jpg
Did you use the files i give on this thread, or yours?
I used your files.
With the l1q1d's tutorial happens the same thing.
The problem is probably from my Polaris.
Ok, check your messages, try that solution, if it doesnt work, send me a message!
thank you makousika

His guide is pretty easy to use. I myself didn't use it since I have been here before atools was even around but I have read it before. Now the fact that over 1000 people have used his guide and your the only person to complain about it is laughable. I mean really, are you going to flame the biggest (formerly now, he got an iphone) kernel developers just because you got offended? What you are going to do is make yourself get laughed at instead. I am a developer myself and I can say that if I was l1q1d I sure as hell wouldn't bother helping you anymore after that.
Just saying that you really should watch what you say and to who.

Well I am clever enough to use proper English. Also, I laughed at L1q1d's comment when I read it. Like I said, you are the only one that got offended and actually even bothered to complain about it. Therefore my comments still stand.
Please my friends, lets keep the thread clean.

Are you sure that EVERYTHING IS WORKING !!!?? IS THE CAMERA OF YOUR PHONE WORKS????? There is a separate thread about this problem and as far as i know l1q1d doesn't have a solution about working camera with any android build installed on NAND!!!!!
Also you did not specify which Radio ROM version did you use for this FULLY WORKING INSTALLATION!!!???
Camera is not working since no developer has managed to get it to work on NAND.
I dont think its difficult to understand that.
Radio rom is 1.59.42.15 , if you click on the link i provide, you will see it by yourself.

[ROM] Custom Stock Samsung Conquer 4G FC17 Rooted With Tweaks

Since people continue to only download part 1, even though I've explained fully that you MUST download BOTH parts before extracting, I have now added this at the beginning of the post, so hopefully people will actually follow the directions properly. DOWNLOAD BOTH PARTS BEFORE EXTRACTING, IT WILL NOT EXTRACT PROPERLY ONLY DOWNLOADING ONE PART!!!
This is a custom stock ROM for the Samsung Conquer 4G that has many advantages over a completely stock image. It was developed by me, Brien Johnson of XHPCreations aka brienj.
The link to the files for the ROM are at the very end of this post, but I recommend you read the FULL post while downloading the files.
- Your phone will be rooted.
- The complete FC17 update that shouldn't nag you to update to FE16. (may help to delete the FE16 update in the cache if you already had it pushed to your phone)
- Clockword Mod Recovery for making easy backups and restores.
- Completely Deodexed and ZipAligned for better performance or being able to hack further.
- All bloatware removed, i.e. SprintID
- Stock Launcher replaced by ADWLauncher. (the stock Launcher could not be deodexed, but ADWLauncher is much better and more robust)
- Debuggable.
- Custom power menu that includes, reboot, reboot into recovery, and reboot into download. (Currently the reboot into download does not work, will try to get it to work if possible in the future)
- Custom battery icons that show the actual percentage of battery power left.
- ICS Fonts for better appearance of text in phone's menus.
- Memory and network tweaks for best performance and battery savings.
- Support for running scripts on boot in init.d folder. I've included one script to help sdcard performance, feel free to add any more that you want.
- Support for standard bootanimation.zip files.
Along with these tweaks I will give instructions on improving the network performance further and changing the boot sound, as well as give links to useful programs and hacks that can be added on this phone.
I suggest only using this ROM if you have not successfully applied the FE16 OTA Update to your phone. If you have a stock FE16 phone, it MAY still work however. I can not guarantee this ROM will work for you, and I am not liable for any damage to your phone if you try to install this ...
Here are the instructions to install the custom stock ROM on a Samsung Conquer 4G with the FC17 update. It is installed in two parts, the first is if you do not already have Clockwork Mod Recovery installed, in which case follow the Odin instructions. If you have installed the CWMR already from my instructions here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610534 then go ahead and follow the CWMR instructions.
Odin installation instructions (Use if you do not have CWMR already installed):
To enter Download Mode on the phone, make sure the phone is turned off and plugged into the wall charging. You should also make sure the phone has a good charge on it. Then turn the phone on by pressing the volume down and camera button and holding them while pressing the power button for a few seconds.
Unzip all the files on your computer and follow these steps.
1) Enter download mode on the phone and plug it into your computer.
2) Open up the Odin program in Windows, run as administrator if on a version of Windows that has such a feature, such as Windows 7. Sorry, there is no Odin for Linux based systems that I know about.
3) Press the OPS button and select the SPH-D600_FC17_CWM_XHP1.ops file.
4) Press the PDA button and select the SPH-D600_FC17_CWM_XHP1.tar.md5 file.
5) Press the Start button, the images should install and the phone reboot.
Congrats, your phone now has my Custom FC17 ROM with a CWM Recovery.
CWMR installation instructions (Use if you have CWMR installed):
Unzip all the files on your computer and follow these steps.
1) Copy the clockworkmod folder and merge it with the folder already on your SD Card. If you do not already have that folder on the SD Card, you may not have CWMR already installed, or you've never made a backup before with it.
2) Boot into CWMR by holding the volume down button and the power button while pugged into the wall charger, or by using the adb command "reboot recovery".
3) Select the menu item "backup and restore".
4) Select the menu item "restore".
5) Select the restore named "SPH-D600_FC17_CWM_XHP1".
6) Select the menu item "reboot now".
Congrats, your phone now has my Custom FC17 ROM with a CWM Recovery.
Now that the phone has the custom ROM, here are some things you can add or do to further improve performance on the phone if you wish.
First of all I recommend installing AdFree, Terminal Emulator, Titanium Backup, and if you wish ScriptManager, which can all be found on the Google Play Store. I can help you find them if needed.
For better 3G follow these steps (enter commands into Terminal Emulator or use the adb shell):
Type this command: getprop ril.MSL
It should show your MSL. Write it down.
Open the dialer and dial ##3282##
Enter your MSL
Click on "Others"
Click on "Multimedia"
Change the settings as follows:
RTSP Proxy Address: 0.0.0.0
RTSP Proxy Port: 0
HTTPPD Proxy Address: 0.0.0.0
HTTPPD Proxy Port: 0
The stock settings are:
RTSP Proxy Address: rtsp.vog.sprintpcs.com
RTSP Proxy Port: 554
HTTPPD Proxy Address: pd.vog.sprintpcs.com
HTTPPD Proxy Port: 8085
Here is how to change the boot sound:
First of all get the "poweron.snd" file from the /system/etc/ folder. It is a raw sound file which can be opened in any audio editor, such as Cool Edit Pro.
Here are the settings to select when opening it up in Cool Edit Pro for example:
Sampling Rate: 441000
Channels: Stereo
Resolution: 16-bit
Data Formatted As: 16-bit Intel PCM
Offset Input Data By: 0
Now you can listen to the boot sound in the audio editor. You can change it to your liking and save it in the same format. Remember to keep it a RAW audio file with the settings above. Replace the "poweron.snd" file with your edited audio file, retaining the same filename.
To replace the boot animation, you can find the "bootanimation.zip" file in the /system/media/ folder. Replace it with a bootanimation file of your liking. I've included a custom bootanimation that was modified to match the custom boot logo I made. I made all of it from a popular bootanimation of which I can not remember where I found it. I am not taking any credit for the original bootanimation, I just modified it to say Samsung Conquer 4G at the top and to speed up and spin faster at the end. If anyone remembers the original creator, I will add a link to it.
A great cpu tuning program that works on the phone (although won't save settings on boot for some reason), is this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584508. From the screenshots below you can see that the phone will last almost 3 days without this program, although the other screenshot was using the program setting of PowerSave and after 20 1/2 hours it was still at 70%, but I also didn't use the phone, I just had it locked. However, when running in PowerSave mode, the phone will be very sluggish, so is only to use if you are just waiting for phone calls or just texting.
These are all the tweaks I have for now. I hope you enjoy the ROM.
I hate to bring this up, but if you like this ROM, please consider making a donation. I don't do this just for donations, I enjoy helping everyone out, but I was in a near fatal accident over two years ago and can no longer work. If you find yourself enjoying this ROM, please click on the Donate button under my name, I would really appreciate it. I can try to improve the ROM over time, but please remember that this ROM is strictly made for performance and battery life and to give you more control over your phone. I don't plan on doing any theming, and most people do ICS themes and such. Personally I hate the look of the ICS themes and the only thing I've taken from ICS, is the fonts, which I do like and look much better than the original. If you want some fancy theme, or mods like Beats Audio, I'd suggest looking for another ROM. If you want performance and longer battery life, I think you'll enjoy mine.
Take care and thank you for trying my ROM.
You must download BOTH of these files before you can extract them. After downloading them, put them both in the same folder, and open the part1.rar file up, and you can then extract the files properly. If you only download one of the two files, the files will be corrupted or not work:
Here is the link to the first file of the ROM - SPH-D600_FC17_CWM_XHP1.part1.rar
Here is the link to the second file of the ROM - SPH-D600_FC17_CWM_XHP1.part2.rar
I apologize for having to split it into two files, but I have a maximum of 200MB I can upload, as I don't have a premium account at MediaFire.
Dude, your awesome.
So glad to see this!
bring on the flock of desperate Conquer users.
This is John Smith from Ting forums by the way.
Good job man. Gonna download asap.

Cool. I hope it works great for you.
You were able to install my other one, so you have CWMR already, right? If so, I recommend just updating that way as it's of course much easier.
Thanks for your hard work, looks great...

It probably would. Perhaps it uses the flash_image binary to flash the images properly, but I don't know for sure. You'd have to make sure you give it the correct names of the mtd partitions though, or it would know the correct names for them, but that's if it uses the flash_image binary. You can always flash these yourself with the flash_image binary using the mtd table I listed. If you have CWMR though, I'd just do it that way.
It doesn't list our phone in the compatible phones, which leads me to believe it only knows the partition tables for the phones listed. Perhaps if you gave them our partition table, they could make it work though.

You're welcome. Hard work is an understatement though. When I had my accident, my head was split wide open from being struck. As a result, I have serious brain damage, although I have retained most of the smarts I had before the accident, which helps. However, it takes me months to do something like this, whereas before it would have taken maybe a week or two at the most, heck, probably a couple of days to be honest. I can not concentrate, I have to do one thing at a time, and I always forget things, even something that happened a few minutes ago. This is why I can not even work, as I can not be in a competitive work environment. Heck, even posting a post will take me close to 5 or 10 minutes, from fixing all the transposed letters, double-printing of letters, grammar, etc. The first post of the thread took me about 3 hours to finish and completely type up. It may appear from my posts, that I am smart, which I don't want to brag, but I believe I am, but because of my TBI, it's not what it appears to be, as you only see the final result after all my editing. I used to hide my problem, but I am not ashamed to admit it any more.
Thanks man this is really fast. I did a test and left my phone locked and it started out at 64 than 2 hours later it was 61!! Really good battery life.

Came here from the Ting forums. I just had to remember my username I created way back when I still had an XV6800. Those were the days!
Anyway, I tried downloading part 2 a few times, and every time I extract the files, it tells me the md5 file is broken. Anyone else having this issue?

You have to have part 1 and part 2 in the same folder, then open part1. It is a two part rar file, so uses both files. By opening just the second file, it won't all be there. But both files contain the whole package, you just need to open part 1, as long as you have part 2 as well.
I had to split the rar file up because Mediafire only allows me to upload a maximum filesize of 200MB, since I don't have a premium account. I've updated this info right before the download links.

Well that's great to hear it works ok for you and yes, the battery life, even without the cpu tuner program is FAR better than original. At least it has been for me. I can run an intensive program with WiFi and the phone would still last close to 10 - 12 hours. That was the whole goal of my ROM, was for longer battery life, since it sucks when stock, and I think I succeeded at it.

Ok, thanks. I was just a little worried because part 1 extracted fine, and part 2 always gave me an error, giving me the part 2 md5 as a 0 byte file.
I've never rooted through android before, so I want to make sure I've got everything squared away before I begin.

Good to hear you are no longer ashamed, plus theres no reason to be. Especially since you can whip up great stuff like this. among other things youve done.
I havent flashed it yet, as I am backing up a lot of stuff, and trying to backup all the linux stuff I installed via opkg package manager using "BotBrew", which is getting a bit complicated. Plus I have to make a nand too beforehand.
So I should be able to get to it soon. Im excited.
But by the way, now that you have the Partitioning table layout mapped out, I wonder what we could do to further expand our internal memory/storage? I wonder if we could double partition our SD cards like some others do on other devices? They basically just format their SD with FAT32 in the first (which will be the extended internal), and the next being Ext4 for SD card storage. Seems like we should be able to do the same like anyone else, especially since you got that nice bit of info through your troubles, on the partitioning.
What do you think on this position?
Take care Brien.

I am "new" to doing all of this type of work. I used to strictly do game hacking/modding, not stuff to cheat, but to make the games better and more fun. Late last year I started getting into the Android systems and seeing what I could do. I'm sure if I looked into this stuff I could figure something out eventually, but not sure how long it would really take me. This seems like something that is similar between all phones, so maybe you should see what can be done already. If it's a phone specific thing, then one of us will have to do the dirty work. I just don't know.
i got an md5 mismatch error when trying to do the restore

I've had that happen before. Here is the solution, but I'd try recopying it to your sdcard another time to make sure it was copied correctly - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714114
Also, are you sure you downloaded BOTH of the rar files as I said in the OP, and it did not give you any errors when extracting the files?
Also, try renaming the name of the folder to only include alphanumeric symbols.
I got an error when extracting the files too. I extracted both the files to the same folder so I don't know what the problem is and I extracted the first part first and the the second. I don't know what it is
I got it to work and the Rom on my phone. Looks good! Good job. I would like to add some themes if anyone has some or knows how I could do it myself.

Sure, if that's what you want. Like I said in my original post, this ROM was made to be practical, not to be fancy. It does have the ICS fonts in it, which look a bit nicer though.
