Scripted Angel 6.1.20923 - Nekid, Neat and Nearly everything versions
I say scripted because I have removed Autorun.exe and SDAutorun.exe to make room since these run once and never again until you hard reset.
I use MortScript to run my set up. This is very similar to Noonski's XDA_UC system. I also want to thank S.V.I for getting me hooked on his work.
I also removed as many files from the \windows folder as possible. This includes moving provxml file information to the rgu file when possible. Shortcuts that just get copied from \windows to other locations have been deleted and are created by my script. This is based on the idea that the fewer files you have in \windows folder, the faster your phone runs.
Do not worry. You can still have UC. My setup MortScript parses the SDConfig.txt as if it were SDAutorun.exe with some exceptions.
It does not do LOCK, HIDE, SHOW, or RESET. I have covered CPY1/CPY2, CAB, XML, TSK, and EXEC.
Since it does not support LOCK and HIDE settings you need to move the cabs you want to allow user input to the folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Manual.
Remove them from your SDConfig.txt file. Also, if you have registry files you use to change settings after these "manual" cab install, just place them in the Manual folder too.
The parser first installs all cab files then reg files, then xml files, then tsk files, and lastly any exe and mscr files.
You will need to respond to some OK boxes to keep setup running. Others are timed to default to my preferred choice. These are things like do you want ASyncKiller to run on your phone? Do you want BlueTooth Notification Icon to run on your phone? etc.
If you want to try to control the sequence which each file in a group (CAB, REG, etc) installs try putting 00_, 01_, etc as the first characters in the file name.
If like me you have some cabs that you have installed to your sdcard you can do the following. I have a folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Zip where I place zip files of the programs files I need on the phone like the shortcuts, etc.
I also place a reg file in the folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Zip that sets the registry for the program.
The parser unzips all of the zip files to the root of your phone and then runs all of the reg files.
Your zip files should have the folder hierchy in them.
I also have the ability to not use SDConfig.txt for silent cab install. Place any cabs in the folder \Storage Card\SDAUTO\Silent you want installed without response required.
This parser also first installs all cab files then reg files, then xml files, then tsk files, and last any mscr files.
Some other notes.
While my script is similar to Noonski's XDA_UC, it is not the same. He is working very hard on a system that is not language or device dependent. I on the other hand have written my script for my Wizard and for WWE. My script does not support XDA_UC or XDAS files, etc.
For Mort's sake: Please do not report any errors to the MortScript Forum but to the Forum Thread of the Rom you have just Flashed. Adding other user created or your own scripts can do serious damage to your device, only use installations from a trusted or confirmed source, but the responsibility and choice to use these, is always your own. Remove your SD Card if you want to prevent other than the phone's setup.
Page Pool is what it has always been 6 MB
DO NOT ACCEPT ANY REQUESTS FOR REBOOT. Phone will automatically reboot after you pick OK on finished notice.
Nekid Angel
I took out everything I thought I could. It still has Mobile Office and it has MortScript to run my setup.

Nearly Everything Angel
This is very close to S.V.I's typical Angel. It has everything he has typically put in it plus MortScript to run my version of setup.
You will need to install an adobe reader program if you want to read the manual for MortScript.

Neat Angel
This is the Angel I use.
It has the following removed:
OperaMini
SAP Settings - lets your car's bluetooth access you SIM card
1-Calc Lite - have my own calculator
Touch Response - decided I don't like the vibration
PIM Backup - I do not use this
BT Icon - I do not use this
I added:
Adobe Reader
Transcriber

Neat Angel in 21054 Port
I took my neat scripted Angel and ported 21054 stuff to it.
My understanding is that 21054 is the last WM6.1 version out here.
Let me know what you think.
I had to take out Transcriber, and Adobe Reader

dotfred's task manager is called dftaskmgr.exe to make it work with the WM version.
Fixed missing MMS, I accidentally removed the package. I managed to get Adobe Reader put in. I got weather working again.
Here's the new link http://rapidshare.com/files/284946281/21054_port_Neat_Angel_nk.nbf
MediaFire http://www.mediafire.com/file/ianqzukmyym/21054_port_Neat_Angel_nk.nbf
I did not put any of the package called Browsingie in the ROM above because it is so big. I put it in this ROM http://rapidshare.com/files/284946285/Browsingie_nk.nbf, but had to remove M2D and a lot more to get it to fit.
Now the bad news. I do not know what this Browsingie ROM looks like or does different because I bricked my phone. I was trying a new CID unlock method and messed it up. I won't be able to cook any more since I cannot test to see if any of the tweaks I do work.
Here are the kitchen files http://rapidshare.com/files/284957064/Port_21054_Angel_Kitchen.rar
Updated Kitchen: Neat Angel in 21054 Port with Extended_ROM
First, I was able to buy a lab rat from eBay to continue cooking.
I fixed up my kitchen to the latest implantxip.exe version. With this I was able to tryremove the ULDR and other things that has given me more room to fit stuff into the ROM.
This is the Browsingie version. I put back Transcriber and Adobe Reader. I also fit in Voice Command and Remote Desktop.
dotfred's task manager is called dftaskmgr.exe to avoid conflict with the WM version.
I think I have avoided the Extended_ROM problem I have seen mentioned before of battery drain if you flash a new Extended ROM. The extended ROM is still locked and hidden. I am using Extended ROM to install M2D and M2DC. The nice thing about this is you can use remove programs to get rid of them if you prefer a different home screen.
I also use zip files in the Extended ROM to hold files that just got copied over to other folders. This way there are not copies in the windows directory and now there are not even the zip files.
So if you use Extended ROM to hold files they will get overwritten by this ROM.
Here's the new link http://rapidshare.com/files/346929040/091112_Port21054_Ext_ROM_Browsingie_nk.nbf
MEGA Angel with 21056 Port and using Extended_ROM
I have two versions of MEGA Angel.
Based on version 23 Manila2D RapidShare MediaFire MegaUpload
Based on version 1917 Manila2D RapidShare MediaFire MegaUpload
version 1917 Manila2D with Extendir to see if it speeds things up RapidShare MediaFire MegaUpload
This is the older version of Extendir ver1.06 with 2MB cache
They both have everything in common except the version of Manila2D.
Both have working Album and Music tabs. Sound profiles does not work in the ver 1917 settings tabs, but I added a link to the program under \programs\tools in the start menu.
Still using Extended_ROM to fit everything. Mega is big. ROM setup takes a while as a result of so many files too.
Some things I have done:
Radio is off at the start. Reduces chance of call coming in while ROM is setting up. Turns on near the end and runs Network Wizard to set up phone service.
Took out ModemLink since it is the same as InternetShare and I doubt anyone uses the infrared method in ModemLink.
Took out Network Plugin since it requires a reboot every time you change it.
Added Total Commander for its features including the ability to have LAN and FTP connections, which replaces Network Plugin.
CommManager has nice feature. Select the text and you get the settings panel for that item. Select the on/off button and you start or stop the device.
BlueTooth settings allows start up of BlueTooth FTP and has a timeout settings for the radio.
USBtoPC is set to not be the enhanced feature setting by default.
Do not reset your phone while it is setting up. When Network Wizard says it is done and to reset, select cancel. ROM setup will reboot when it is done.
If I think of anything else I'll update.
you make me wish I still had my wizard.
is it still the same OS or have you updated?
It is still the same OS. 20923
I have been avoiding the 21xxx series of ROMs since Cracing has said they have memory drain or leaking issues.
I am trying to keep the strengths of your original Angel. I have just been playing with the clean up of what is in it.
Oops
Updated links for all three versions.
I removed debugging text messages to speed up setup.
thanx!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for your work. Can I flash the rom as useal?
They are OS only nk.nbf files. You can flash your Wizard however you typically flash a nbf file to it. Since they are OS only they are G3 and G4 safe.
Nekid
Thanks RoryB.
I've always wanted the Nekid Angel. You had posted the source for it in your FFA thread. But I couldn't get it to compile. Too many errors and stuff.
Well, I will be installing the Nekid Angeld soon. I do not use any of the programs that you guys normally do. I just need a few small utils, which I have cabs to install.
So a big thank you for cleaning this up. Much appreciated.
A QQ -
Do I need to downgrade to install this? I have Final Final Angel installed.
Or can I just put it in soft IPL and load Nekid Angel?
You will be replacing the old Angel when you flash this one.
As far as downgrading is concerned. I have not done that for some time. I used to flash back to my original ROM and then flash a new one, but for me it does not seem to matter. I would say to just try flashing straight to your new ROM.
Thanks!!!
Today morning I installed Nekid Angel. I'm really loving it. Simple and fast. And allows a lot of space for what I want. Thanks a ton!!!
So far so good, no issues. Working like a charm.
SMS sent folder synch?
Guys,
I observed this in WM6.1. I've disabled threaded SMS and it does not store the SMS I sent in the sent folder. I really hate threaded SMS.
Is there a hack or way to store the sent SMS in the sent folder? I've tried a couple of things, but can not get it to work.
Hopefully someone that uses SMS/MMS can help you. Our company blocks them on our plan
Shift and symbol keys
Guys,
I'm facing problems with Shift and Caps keys on the keyboard. Is anyone else facing this problem?
Sometimes the shift key just wont work... have to press it hard or 2-3 times to get it to work. Not such a problem with Caps key.
But yes, sometimes these two keys in combination do irritate a lot when texting someone or when trying to type numbers.
My ELF might be dead but i stills got my Wizard .
Check the Forum for "MortScript HTML Manual" i'ts a bit lighter to include, but it might also be a bit outdated for some of the updates. (some prety faced Drunk posted it).

Know issues and recommendations;
No performance tweaks needed in my opinion
I recommend over clocking the rom [battery-status] to 247 MHz instead of applying performance tweaks ,performance tweaks take away ram…….were over clocking comes at very little loss of battery especially if you use the auto scale function.
THIS rom has no parts from any current wm6 rom, this is a real WWE wizard rom ,all the parts needed to make it as a full rom were sourced from my 3.3.
Battery status cannot be configured from today options control panel…….but you can configure it by pressing and holding the battery icon in battery-status today plug in.
the rom may be bit slower because i did not applied any performance tweaks....plus the rom is fully loaded so we cant compare to other roms.....i mean this roms has everything working.....its like comparing a loaded truck to an empty one..
the device may crash when it reboots for the first time at the welcome screen if you don't tap it straight away....just reset the device with the stylus and it will be fine. this is because there is apps loading in the background.
a vanilha version will be released soon.
many thanks to mamaich BEPE AND dr.P FOR ALL THE Support and all the authors/xda of the freware apps.... a specialy.....my wife that lend her wizard to me in order to finish this rom,and for putting up with the many hours i ignored her.....

Or that it's not a WM6 core...?

The ROM image doesn't really care whether you're using Windows XP or Windows Vista. Without knowing the details, I'm guessing that the problems you're having have to do with the new security "features" of Windows Vista.
What you'll need to do is once you've downloaded the ROM image to a location on your local hard drive, right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator". You will be prompted to "Allow" or "Cancel", select "Allow" and you should be OK from that point forward.

Not really, the problem I had was , it started to upgrade and when the phone restarted and the rainbow appeared the connection was lost between PC and phone.
I hope I was able to explain it correctly.
Thanks Faria for your reply.

The issue you are havings is a known issue. The flash utility looks for ActiveSync, and since Vista does not use ActiveSync but its own mess, you wont be able to flash with Vista.
Can anyone provide a mirror link?
Ok before Faria gets slammed with posts about the flash freezing at 99%.... this is normal. All ROM's (Even releases by HTC or your carrier) have a point when it looks frozen but its not.
Also one thing I have seen is that people expect these things to be perfect OOB (out of box), this is never the case. There will always be a few little kinks and if you read the forum you will either find the answer in this post or another. So read before you post.
On another note, faria I love this release. So far no issues seen, but i will run the phone hardcore as i usually do to see if there are any issues. Thanks again for all your hardwork in putting this release out.
Some people who where trying to update to WM6 on Smartphones like Dash had a problem with "Invalid Code ID"... (me as well).
The procedure to solve the prob was to use the "Unlocker" program provided by some companies, disconnect cable when it asked for a file, close the program and continue to flash with "modded files" (the modded files were specific to the "vendor ID" prob).
Whe you run the unlocker, ActiveSync disconnects, at least looks so.
In this case my "noobish" mind could think the unlocker is actually handling by itself the connection... In this case, using this procedure, it should be possible to run the upgrade even from Vista.
On the other hand, the unlocker might just disconnect ActiveSync but still be using MS drivers, which are probably different in Vista.
Maybe I'm not used to think and I'm just saying nonsense.
Ka.

Rapid works just fine...

I have been attempting to add Interenet Calling to Faria's WM6 ROM by adding the necessary files and registry changes and re-cooking the ROM but I am getting nowhere fast. I have managed to add some files to the original ROM, make a couple of registry changes fine and change some settings in the initflashfiles.dat file to remove some shortcuts I don't want and I can get this to work fine, however re-adding the IP Phone stuff is a bit more of a task.......
I have extracted the files (or modules) from the MB ROM and added the regsistry changes and the ROM cooks just fine. When I flash the Wizard though it completes sucessfully and then reboots. I get the 1st splash screen but then when the 2nd splashscreen should appear I get a white screen. The Wizard is working as I can hear the bleep when it asks you to 'tap the screen to set up the device'. It also powers on and off OK, but I only ever get this white screen.
I have tried this about 4 times now and I am convinced the registry changes and required files are correct, but each time I get this white screen. Any ideas?

Already read it..... I can get Internet Calling back if I launch the VoIP.CAB that is included in that thread after installation, however I want these to be integrated into the ROM like they were originally (Faria has removed them). As I said I have had some sucess with adding other files and other registry changes it is just this bit that I am stuck on.
I did manage to get a bit further but ended up with a corrupt Today screen, no idea what happened there though
Andy
What are you stuck on?... you said you didn't have it, but now you said you can get internet calling... what exactly are you trying to do?
Faria has said that his rom takes up almost the entire space alotted. Have you tried removing some files from the rom to clear up room for the VoIP files?

I want to restore the Internet Calling option in Faria's WM6 ROM - pretty simple to understand really
I can add it manually via the VoIP.cab file but this obviously takes up RAM and can be removed via 'Remove Programs'. I would like to add the files that are missing and make the necessary registry changes then re-cook the ROM. I would prefer to keep Faria's base ROM.
I haven't tried removing anything from Faria's ROM so far, I didn't realise it was near the limit - I thought we had 128MB to play with on the Wizard, are we near that already?
Andy
Listen.. that cab only does registry fixes and puts in the NECESSARY files for the current voip functionality. it does not install anything that is not needed. Extract the cab and look at the xml file. it will tell you exactly what it does...Pretty simple concept

Yep, already done that, hence my original post.....
I have added the necessary registry changes/additions and proof-read them several times, however once the ROM is cooked and installed the thing reboots, I get the 1st splash screen OK, then the white screen when the 2nd splash screen should appear and that's it.
I will have a look at how bloated the DUMP directory is with the additional files in there and see if I am going over 128MB.
Andy
The DUMP folder is apparently 122MB (128,512,401 Bytes) but is taking up 132MB (139,141,120) on the disk on my PC. Does anyone know if this is too big? If it is what is safe to remove?
Thanks
Andy
Done it.......
If anyone is interested I managed to get Internet Calling back into Faria's ROM.....
What I did originally was correct, however the file (or modules) that are needed for Internet Calling total about 3.5MB, which I think was slightly too much and would make the ROM bigger than 128MB (I think Faria must have realised this when developing his ROM and removed them to save space). I have been through the installed applications and files and have removed some stuff that I don't use. I then re-built the ROM and low and behold it worked first time and Internet Calling is now an option...
It still doesn't work however but that is just because it needs a provisioning XML file from a provider. Hopefully when WM6 devices appear we will be able to extract a provisioning XML file and dig deeper........
And no, the ROM is not available since this is Faria's work and not mine.
Andy
Nice,
I’m new to this and the only thing that I need from WM6 is the “Internet Calling”
I have no ides how to make the voip work. But I fond this at Microsoft.

I really would like to test this with my “asterisk server” (http://www.asterisk.org/)
/joad
Where did you find the "Internet Calling total about 3.5MB" module?
Or maby you have changed your mind and feel like chairing your ”build” of WM6

You need to add the following files into the ROM (the 1st 3 are actually modules and are in directories with the same name):
dnsapi.dll
rtcdll.dll
voipphonecanvas.dll
ipdialplan.xml
ringback.wma
You also need to add the registry entries to the default.hv and user.hv that are contained in the '_setup.xml' file from the VoIP.CAB file (or extract them from another ROM that already contains Internet Calling).

Joad,
I agree with you. The 3.5 Mb footprint is inflated.
It's only 1.75 MB (remember if you are using recmod when you are unpacking the ROM with viewimgfs, you have two copies of the files that are stored as modules: the module version and a file copy!.

eluth, I knew that somebody out there would have done the right job. Congratulation! Would you mind making your rom available to us?
Thank you

Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase !!!!!!
There are so many people wanting to do this now - and I have a MAJOR need for this on a Hermes -- I have a solid SIP provider and can get to it with my other apps but integration I can't test ---
I am trying soooo hard to pin this down. I have not found a single ROM yet that has the "complete" add-in of what you mention here.
It would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thanks

This .CAB worked on my Wizard with Faria's WM6 real thing ROM that had the VoIP stuff removed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1147821&postcount=138
I then added the files and registry settings back and re-cooked the ROM.

I might have missed something here but I want to recover some space in my ROM as there isn't enough room to get all the OEM applications I would like into my build (and it's not a lot of applications believe me, however the latest mUn 5.2.1413 build has very little to spare). I thought I understood the .RGU & .DSM files in that they are used to create the registry .hv files (system.hv and user.hv), however they are still present in the ROM when it is built and it seems to me like they are wasting space? The .DSM files total about 800Kb and the .RGU files over 2Mb.
Are all these files needed or can the ROM be created without them? I realise the registry needs to be created but it seems like these files are redundant once the ROM is built
Andy
better leave them alone if you want your rom to even boot . some can be deleted but this is specific to every rom.

Care to elaborate as to what can be done to 'compress' them then?
I want to recover about 2Mb of space? I thought the default system.hv & user.hv files were created from these .DSM & .RGU files and therefore they aren't actually needed in the ROM?
Is there any way to build the ROM with the kitchen tools but once the system.hv and user.hv files are created these redundant files aren't included in the ROM build?
I might be missing something obvious here, if I am please enlighten me
Thanks

Well you can take 20 RGU adding up to 2MB or 1 file with 2MB its the same!!! The same information has to go in the the ROM

Yes, I had sort of realised that, however there would still be a (small) saving if it was one file as opposed to 20.
What I was trying to get at was are these files needed since the system.hv and user.hv files are already there in the ROM? I used the Molski tools previously to build some ROMs and the 'rgucom.exe' tool built the system.hv and user.hv from the system.rgu & user.rgu files, however these were a lot smaller.
If I am missing something here, please enlighten me

It seems like a neat idea. Let me know if it works. If it does I'll incorporate it into the next version of my rom-packer kitchen. In the meantime you might try the rom-packer. It's been pretty consistent in giving 2+ meg or more back.

So where do I find the space then............ I have a spare G3 Wizard and I know I can't brick it with just flashing the ROM (as opposed to flashing the bootloader), so I can try pretty much whatever I want to see what works.
Out of curiosity I have just tried removing the .RGU files that are in the DUMP directory after the BOS.exe (or other name, but the OS builder GUI application) has successfully ran and the ROM does get built, however it only frees up 1.5Mb, which isn't enough for what I want. I will continue analysing what I can and can't remove to get the apps in I want.

I am attempting to add the following applications into the ROM:
System:
Enterprise
Entertainment
WindowsLive
Office
AutoUpdate
Voice Command
VoIP
MediaOS
FWUPDATE
OEM/Other Stuff:
Adobe Reader LE 2.0
Bluetooth Explorer
Bluetooth SAP Profiles
HTC Wizard Camera
Arcsoft MMS
DotFred Task Manager
Total Commander
HTC X-Button 1.5
Battery Status
MS Live Search
MS Pocket Streets 2006
VoIP SIP Config tool
Plus a compilation of registry settings, however when I run the batch file to create the ROM it always fails towards the end. It gets to somewhere like 'wmv9decoder.dll' and then stops and a Windows dialogue box appears about an 'exception has occurred'. The batch file carries on but the ROM that is created is corrupt.

The 8004000.nb file in the 'ROM' directory is 42,688KB. The os-new.nb file that gets creates is 59,072KB. If I build the ROM without Adobe Reader LE 2.0 it is 57,792KB and it works so I guest it's over the size limit.

Wait a few days so i will test and release my kitchen and i promiss you'll have your problem fixed
Remove the autoupdate. I doubt that functionality will be useful for any custom roms anyway, and certainly does nothing now.

Definetly get rid of this one. Also if you use the rompacker kitchen the edhaas ported from Bepe's, then you may get more space (I'm reworking Crossbow Reloaded right now, and I'm able to add a lot more to my rom with this excellent set of tools). If you use the rompacker kitchen, AutoUpdate is completely useless (if it was to ever work).

If I remove AutoUpdate the os-new.nb still ends up 59,072KB..... I will try and physically remove the two folders in the \SYS folder and edit the option.xml file.....
Nope, even if I physically remove the two AutoUpdate folders and remove them from the option.xml the os-new.nb that is created is 59,072KB. The tools I am using 'Wizard ROM-Packer Kitchen' doesn't crash like the other tools, however the ROM Update application just closes at 98% and leaves the Wizard in limbo....

Very likely, cause its the latest build.
Need download link to try the rom.

How do i do this?
Also, is there any way to choose where/what folder Cabs install to?
Same bug as the leaked HTC one, text not displayed on landscape mode if cleartype is enabled.
Little else has been changed.

What do yo mean?... Reorganize programs in start menu or program in Program Files folder??...
If it is the menu, you can use Total Commander (free) and navigate to /Windows/Start Menu...
Do what ever you want to...
EDIT: And for the installation location, you can choose to install in internal memory or storage card... All apps will go to Program Files, but some will go to windows folder.

I mean to organize from in the start > Programs Folder
I want to put like all the audio/video programs in a folder called Multimedia or all utilities i.e. advanced config or kaiser tweak into a folder called Utilities.
Ive seen these types of folders on other Roms i've flashed and would just like to organize this one similar to those.

wow, this thread is really quite... maybe everybody is flocking around the new diamond. well, i find this rom stable and ok for my everyday use. I've use several other rom but i have problem with japanese keyboard (lingvosoft), but i didn't have problem with this rom. maybe some software didn't play well with the keyboard.
Well, it feels like the very first experience with kaiser when using this rom as all about it is stock rom..
cleaning it up a little
Thanks for the clean stock ROM. I like its performance and love the fact that there isn't a ton of stuff added. I've cooked my ROM's using Alex's kitchen in the past and like mine to be even cleaner. Is there any way to remove some of the installed programs? I'd be interested in removing the following:
- sliding sounds
- voice dial
- task manager
- windows update
- apptodate
- messenger
- remote desktop
- windows live

you mean something like this
just go with file explorer(or resco explorer) or any other explorer you use
to
windows/start_menu/programs
and make new folders, named as u want ant cut/past your shortcuts into them
Just to further clarify, this ROM is based off of HTC's (soon to be released) updated Kaiser ROM discussed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390748?

Ok, I'm having a problem with this ROM.
If I stilling SPB PocketPlus I start experiencing lock ups on boot (just as the today screen loads) or cyclic rebooting of the device (ie it just boots, then reboots itself repeatedly).
I "think" I also experienced similiar issues with just SPB Mobile Shell 2 as well.
I say "think" because I havnt done any definitive testing, but I've hard reset my device bloody loads today and I can't bring myself to go throught it again!!
If anyone has experienced similiar issues it would be great ot hear what you did to fix it, or if indeed it is even fixable!!
Cheers.
Syphon
EDIT:
I'm having some weird issues with this ROM, today I found my device sitting there just flashing the screen backlight on and off. I have also experienced the backlight turning off at weird times. It's not as if the power settings just timed out and the screen turned off, it seems to happen randomly (in that it doesnt always happen) but it happens when I press a button or a key. Very strange.
If anyone knows what could be causing this any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
PS.
In the meantime I am going to give the latest official HTC rom a shot, failing that I will fall back to the previous TLR release (which worked ok on my device IIRC).
EDIT:
Doesnt look like I'll be rolling back as the previous TLR ROM is not on the XDA FTP or on his FTP!! D'oh.
Rather than flashing the FuZE... if I do a hard reset with the trick to not install the AT&T bloatware, will that make the phone any faster?
Also... I just ran a backup with Sprite to my memory card. It is backing up 165mb of stuff. Does that mean that is is backing up all of the AT&T bloatware? I had all boxes checked off except Storage Card. What will the backup entail? It would be kind of stupid if it backed up all of the software I'm trying to remove.
if you have everything ticked in sprite backup then its probably backuping your registry as well.. I'd say go through the options of sprite backup and tick only what you want backed up.
Then hard reset and soft reset right after its booted up before it installs the customizations.. or just use a cooked rom..
I tried to figure out what to uncheck - hopefully this goes right... Will it speed everything up though?
No Manila2D after soft reset?
Question, I just did this. Did the soft reset when it's customizing, and now I don't have the Manila2D installed or at least it's not visible. TouchFlo is in fact there, I see it in Settings, but I do I have to separately find the cab to install it? I'm looking around the file system right now to see if it's on there so I can just install it from there.
Right now, it's just the regular Windows Mobile interface.
Thanks.
DTB
Don...I had the same issue with my Fuze. Here is what you do...
Hard Reset on phone
pull battery when customization screen pops up
Reboot
Go to Windows Explorer and look for the following .cab files(I did them in this order):
PT_Manila_REG (TF3D)
MSFT_Security (policy work around - needed)
WM6_PPC (Opera browser)
Java_Preloads (needed for browser)
Optional:
Remove Hidden Proxy
OzIM (multi IM program - I like and use regulary)
MobileBackup (free and I use it)
Once you have done this, reboot and go to this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413562
for some really nice tweaks. Before you do these tweaks though, you'll want to download the following files (sorry, you'll have to look for them):
.NETCF 3.5 (get this from Microsoft site)
Schaps Advanced Config v3.3
some type of registry editor (I have Schap's)
What tweaks you do are up to you...best thing is to experiment and decide what you like best.
Additional files that I have downloaded because of what I use my phone for are the following:
fp7_ppc (flashplayer v7 for pocket pc)
cesetup (Citrix Client software for ppc)
ManilaCustomizer (fantastic program for editing TF3D) get this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437420
Diamond TF3d Config (another fantastic program for tweaking TF3D)
mUn BackGround4AllPages (changes the background on all of the TF3d tabs to match the Home tab)
LiveSearch
Google Maps
WiFiFoFum (wireless net detector)
Fun files that I have installed:
DivX
Lightsaber 1.0 (yes, I am a Star Wars nerd!!)
YahooGoNet
Having all these various programs installed, my Fuze blisters! I had a Tilt previous and tried almost every custom ROM for it over the course of a year. When I got this phone, I was already aware of how to not install the bloat from AT&T. Thanks to other helpful people on xda, I was able to locate the files that I wanted to install. Hope this helps and have fun with your phone, I know I am!!
pghguy1989,
THANK YOU. You were right on the money. I loaded these cab files:
PT_Manila_REG (TF3D)
MSFT_Security (policy work around - needed)
WM6_PPC (Opera browser)
Java_Preloads (needed for browser)
And rebooted, and I'm back up and running with my TouchFlo. That was exactly what I wanted. I was annoyed that it did put some of the AT&T branding on there, but I don't really care. I'm going to now use the TFCustomizer, and clean it up.
Thanks a TON. I was going crazy googling and looking for the right cab files to make it happen!
Can't thank you enough.
DTB
