What is the difference between the P3650 Cruise (Polaris) and the O2 XDA Orbit 2? - Touch Cruise General

Hi all.
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before but what is the difference between the P3650 Cruise (Polaris) and the O2 XDA Orbit 2?
The reason I am asking is that I have recently had a Parrot MKi9200 handsfree car kit installed and my O2 XDA Orbit 2 seems to be unable to maintain a stable Bluetooth connection between the two?
I have contacted Parrot Technical Support and they have said that they have tested the MKi9200 with the P3650 Cruise (Polaris) and it works perfectly but at the moment they haven't tested it with the O2 XDA Orbit 2!
So I'm struggling to understand why the O2 XDA Orbit 2 won't work?

same hardware, different case, so firmware (ROM) -wise they are the same device, if your parrot device still doesn't work, you might want to update your ROM to the latest version at XDA site (official) or try a Polaris custom ROM from here until you find the right one for you.
Use search feature and read before posting, it's the best path you can follow.

Hi Drakh and Davidez2.
Thanks for getting back to me.
I'm afraid you've totally lost me!!!!!!
I'm new at this and I'm not quite sure what you mean and where I'm supposed to be looking!!!!!!
Many thanks.

Hi,
I have an Mki 9100 paired with my Orbit 2 and it works perfectly for telephony, but not so well for directions coming from TomTom.
I installed C Shekar's "b" rom when I got the phone and haven't looked back.
What are your symptoms?

Hi SpiggyTopes.

The symptoms I have is that I can't maintain a stable bluetooth connection.
Sometimes the Orbit 2 connects perfectly (telephony & CoPilot) and then after x minutes a "connection lost" message appears on the screen. (I've put 'x' minutes because it's not always the same amount of time).
Or, it may connect (telephony only) but still loses the connection after x minutes.
I've contacted Parrot and they finally come back to me to say that they have tested the MKi9200 with the HTC Touch Cruise but not the Orbit 2.
I have also tried a friends Touch Cruise with the MKi9200 and still had the same problem.
However, when I contacted Parrot again they said that there has been a problem with some of the HTC Touch Cruise's where the handset drops the Bluetooth connection when idle and that there is a "Hot Fix" to resolve this. (So I'm going to download this "hot fix" on the Touch Cruise and try it)
If this "hot fix" does resolve the Touch Cruise handset then I'm not sure whether to try the "hot fix" on the Orbit 2? Any thoughts?

As I said in one of my previous posts I'm a newbie to this so I'm not sure what you mean by you installed C Shekars "b" rom?

OK - re new ROM:
You can upgrade the built in part of the phone's memory which runs the phone itself. I didn't like the O2 system, so flashed it to another ROM, which is far far better.
You would need to be calm and collected to do it!
You download and run SP Unlock to completely unlock your phone. No changes to the working of the phone are made.
Backup your data if necessary
You download the ROM (C Shekar's "b" (not the "a") rom - you will find it in the upgrade forum). About 50 MB.
You run the ROM upgrade via your USB / Active Sync connection (I have Windows XP).
Done!
It will then work with Parrot.
I've done this several times with different phones, but if you are nervous about it, try to get some hands on help.

Spv E650 Or Htc S710

Hi ther. newbee really to all this but i looking to change my phone, i have the o2 xda exec.... getting on my nerves now, TO BIG.... but anyways. i like the look of the E650 - S710, have a few questions tho so im hoping someone could help me before i go and buy 1
1.just to confirm... this phone does support A2DP. and does it work well.. you know. like it should. not lagging or jumpin.
2. if i do get 1 im getting the SPV E650. not the htc s710.. (just for insurance purpose) but what do you lot think is the best rom to put on it..... keep the orange 1 on it. flash with the htc 1 ect....versions..... but if changing away from orange rom.. please let me know it is not going to be a pain putting the orange internet/wap settings on..
3. whats the typical battery life like... i like to listen to music alot so dont want a phone i could kill in 2 hours just for listening to mp3's
thats about it really, only 3 questions, and hopefully easy for anyone to answer
thanks you guys'N'girls (brillient site tho)
1. Don't know, but I think it is!
2. The best ROM is the ARA ROM and it's derivatives. It is just the fastest.
3. With Wifi on and heavy use one day, with music at least 8 hours (I've never used it longer than this)!
ok, thanks for that
1. i do hope someone can confirm this
2. sounds ok, but i have ssen a few roms out there so when you saw ARA rom, which one is that, (sorry for sounding a bit thick on that)
3. thanks, sounds like what i already get from my o2 xda exec.
if anyone else has different views, or more info to add, please do!!!
so. dont anyone else have there opinon !!!
No need to use angry smileys and capital letters thanks..
1. I can't answer this one I don't have a bluetooth headset.
2. the ARA rom with the latest official rom released, named ARA because it includes support for arabic language. You find it here
3. I don't have a correct answer for this one, but I know too that it must be longer than 8 hours. The only thing that really drains the battery a lot is having wifi on.

ok, thanks for the info. (and i got a smiley face this time)
i guess i'll go and get me one of these phones, be alot better than the brick that i have (xda exec), nothing wrong with it, just fed up of the size.. but was a great phone
The SPV E650 has been discontinued by Orange so you would be better getting a HTC S710 as it is sim free so you can still use your O2 Sim. I can not help you with the best ROM as I am not brave enough to flash the ROM on my Vox. This phone does support A2DP but you have to edit the registry to get the best out of Bluetooth audio as the default settings do not show
A2DP at it's best. Easy to get Orange settings on your phone with the HTC network settings wizard off the HTC site, but you have to have an official HTC IMIE number to register with HTC to get to the downloads so rules out the SPV unless you register with Modaco and download the app from them. Battry life varies, if you use a Bluetooth GPS reciver with Google Maps for mobile then the battery will start to drain pretty quickly as you will have the Bluetooth radio switched on aswel as having an active data connection. To get the most out of the battery you will have to mainly use it for making and reciving phone calls and sending and reciving SMS as that only uses the cell radio. If you want to listen tomp3's then you are better off using the supplied wired headset as you do not need to have the Bluetooth radio switched on. If you want to drain the battery fast then switch Bluetooth and wifi on and connect to Orange World as you will have the cell radio switched on, the Bluetooth radio switched on, the wifi radio switched on and the cell radio will be in data mode.
Roland
ok, thanks for that. 1 question for you tho. there did you hear that the SPV E650 has been discontinued, as i went in to town a few days ago and seen the SPV E650 in the orange shop (nottingham)
just to clarify tho, i am on orange, not o2, just had the o2 xda exec as i got it cheaper than i could the orange version, but because of that i have ended up missing orange insurance..... i am a bugga for breaking phones. toilets, windows, cars etc.... as i mean, i had 8 spv m500's already. (thanks to orange insurance).
i can say 1 thing tho to the people out there that like the o2 xda exec. its hard to brake, (windows and stairs dont seem to bother it).

Bluetooth disconnect after hangup

Have a weird problem and i think it can fixed by some registry.
the bluetooth will disconnect each time with my headsfree after hang up call. only either i press headsfree button to re-estabish or restart bluetooth to get it hook up again.
Does anyone has similar experience ?
Bluetooth disconnect
I've had this problem with my Sprint Touch Pro since I've had it...running stock ROM or Merdin's ROM. Very frustrating...using Motorola HF820 in the car and AT&T EP5632 (BT/Landline phone)...same thing.
I think there's a registry entry for bluetooth polling or something that can be set, but I've yet to find it. There was a post indicating that Diamond TF3D Config had a Bluetooth "tweak" that might solve the problem...but I get an error message when I run it.
JLPDA, Can you send me the tread that talk about this tweak, i wanna take a look see has anything we can do about.
Same problem: Touch Pro with Parrot MK6000 handsfree. I notice though that the phone reconnects after a minute or so. Previous Tytn did not have this problem.
Any news on this? I have the same problem with my Touch HD and Mk6000

Maybe we should flood Parrot with requests for a fix... It should be easy for them.. my previous kit (MK3000) worked flawlessly...
just "copy and paste" from MK3000 parrot engineers!!!!
OTOH, my Jasjam (HTC Tytn) worked fine with my MK6000, while my current Touch Pro has this problem.
I was unable to find anything on the Parrot forums...
I wrote a message to the technical support page on Parrot's web site... let's see what happens...
Parrot's tech support told me that the HTC Touch HD is not currently suopported!!

Seems like nothing is supported on this POS. Out of six phones I have had the only ones that seemed to work with the MK6000 without problem was the Blackberry Storm which is the only good thing I have to say about that phone. It seems moronic that people should have to go through different phones to make their "Accessory" work. Parrot needs to get a clue. I know I'll be voting with my dollars elsware.
I can confirm, it will work as a stereo adaptor with the Touch Pro 2 but hangs up phone calls in the first second or two on the handsfree.
For Sale: One Parrot MK6000 stereo A2DP car kit, slightly used.
And I thought Bluetooth was supposed to be a standard...
I hate bluetooth!!!
What do you know... my parrot MK6000 now works just fine with my new HTC LEO...
Maybe it's because the LEO uses Broadcomm's bluetooth stack instead of the Microsoft's one... who knows...

I also have the AT&T EP5632 and this happens. Does not happen on my Plantronics or Motorola earpieces though.
At one point, I thought I was having better luck with a DaG barebones rom. I like TF3D too much though...

BT connection ok; No sound in carkit

Hi,
Since 2 weeks, I'm the happy(?) owner of a Polaris P3650.
The day of purchase, I upgraded it with the WM 6.1 from HTC.
It worked fine until friday...
In fact I use it in 2 cars, one is fitted with a parrot CK3100 and the other with a Sony Ericsson HCB300.
On friday, the connection with the parrot was ok, but when phone rang, it showed me the counter and no sound could be heard!
I made a new connection but was useless.
When at home I checked with the other car, same problem!
I restarted the phone, no change.
I reloaded the WM6.1, no change.
Phone is always recognised by the carkit.
As a test, I used my older SE K550 with the same sim and evything was ok.
Have you ever heard of this?
I would be unhappy to give it back to the shop... they will keep it for at least 3 to 4 weeks.
Thanks for your help.
Please give us some data regarding ROM you are using.

Uhm... Does it work with any BT headset?
Maybe it's hardware error... radio version is same as mine, so that shouldn't be a problem...

In fact, I decided to give it back to the phoneshop.
They tested it with a supertooth and ... just the same.
I have now to wait 3 to 4 weeks. Just a shame! Viva MEDIAMARKT
Ah, so it is hardware error.
It happened to me too, but they just changed something inside device. I was waiting 10 days...
Sorry pal, bad luck...
My car is going into the dealer on thuesday. Some expert will be there to look into the issue.... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4730995&postcount=5) I'll Keep you posted.

HTC Magician bluetooth headset ?????

Hello guys, let me start by saying im a total noob when it comes to the ppc
I recently purchased a HTC Magician to use as a work phone, i use a bluetooth headset a lot so it was a good option for a work phone. After i purchased it i decided to install the latest rom by Cotulla, rom HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O4. It looks great, i like it alot, but the only problem i have is that i cant use my bluetooth headset reliably.
Its connected ok and does not drop out, but the problem is i cant hear people properly through the bluetooth headset, and im told they cant hear me either, its possible to hear that someone is speaking but not possible to understand what is being said.
After sifting through the threads here for days in the hope to find a solution, i could not find one and decided it might be wiser to just go back to wm 2003 se, which i hope has no problems with the bluetooth headset. Unfortunatly ive hit a brick wall with this option aswell, as it would seem all the threads ive looked at seem to point to links that are no longer available. So this leaves me with a phone that isnt able to be used for what i wanted it for
As i said at the start, i am a noob here so if im missing something here that i could do to solve this problem, could someone please point me in the right direction ?
Your headset is OK????
Hi!
I also use Cotullas latest ROM and i am also using my BT Headset without any problems and no "secret" settings.
Did you check your headset with a different phone? Maybe that´s the problem!
Cheers
Lui
Yea i used the bt hs on a dopod 838 pro, when i got the magician, i switched it from my dopod to the magician so i could use it for work. So i know the bt hs isnt causing the problem. And as ive seen some posts here about issues with bt and the Cotullas roms as being known problems, i naturally assume its the rom. But if its something else, then im all ears.
Just wont to get it working so i can use the phone with the bt hs.
As the imate site is down, and it sounds like imate might be going out of business due to some fraud problems. I cant seem to locate a rom with wm 2003 se, so i can try it to confirm if its the Cotulla rom, or something else.
Well im now trying t-mobile wm 2003 se, and so far the bt hs seems to be working great.

HTC HD2 Bluetooth Carkit hang up bug...

Hey Guys, i'm hoping you can help me.
I have searched this forum and couldnt find anyone that has the same bug as me. I apologize in advance if there is a thread already that discusses this.
I have a Ford Mondeo Titanium X 58plate. Bluetooth syncs up and sends/receives calls great, however When I try to hang up the call it crashes. Is anyone having the same problem?
I upgraded my o2 HTC phone to the latest 1.66 rom and I still get the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.
I too have the same issue. I have a Mondeo Zetec and suffer from the same issue. After hanging up, the phone continually tries to connect and disconnect and the only way to stop it is to turn off bluetooth completely. I logged the problem with HTC and they were trying working on the problem howver I havent heard anything from them for 3 weeks. Im considering changing the bluetooth stack on the phone but arent sure how and with which stack.
I heard that changing the stack to the Microsoft default causes other issues. Let me know if you get a response from HTC regarding a fix. I dont even bother connecting the phone to the car anymore because it just crashes everytime i get a call, its so frustrating.
This is the response I got from HTC:
We can never guarantee that our products will be compatible with car kits or bluetooth headsets.
There are different ROM versions of Windows Mobile 6.5.
It might be that this product is not 100% compatible with this specific car kit.
When it comes to upgrades and updates then you will have to contact O2 for them to provide the upgrades for you.
Best regards,
Jozefine M
HTC
Probably a generic answer to everyone.
Same issue/possible fix
I have a Titanium X sport exactly the same issue.
I was told a couple of days ago if you switch off Data connection in Wireless controls in Settings it helps and I have tested a few times and this does seem to work.
I have not had an opertunity to test thoroughly and would be interested to here if it helps you
